I'm a 30 something home-maker, writer and researcher. Harry Potter fanfiction is my passion and my great escape from everything. I am deeply in love with Severus Snape and he is the only man I would ever consider leaving my husband for. I am most fond of happy endings. Life is too full of angst and heartache, my dreams and thoughts need something more uplifting.
I was born in Sri Lanka and have lived in India, Poland and now, obviously the UK.
I love food, so many of my stories will have detailed descriptions of things I'm currently craving. I also love travelling, the arts and crafts, cooking, baking, oil painting, especially the pre-Raphaelites, literature and culture in general. My favourite colours are at present are royal purple, silver, emerald green, true red and fucshia. Colour is like music, it speaks silently to the soul when it needs it most.
Reviews for Dark Veela
Poor Hermione. She's willing to learn. Of all of the kids in these stories, I think she's the most willing to learn and change her views based on facts rather than choosing facts fit her own views.Fascinating. I like that the pureblood ideas are being shown in a different light. Perhaps they are not all bad.

Nothing is ever all bad or all good - we in canon are only shown things from Harry's perspective and he has never been the most informed or the most objective - further more, he is only a teenager so his thinking is bound to be one-sided based on the data he's been presented.now we finally see things from the other side
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
Yes, seeing things through adolescent eyes is a bit limited. My son just turned 13. LOL.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Mm... 13 is a tough age. Good luck for the teenage years :)
Ohh boy. Ron, Molly, Ginny...ugh. LOL. I'm glad Severus is looking at a better future. Very good story. I've never been able to imagine Ron and Hermione together. It doesn't make sense. Ginny, though, should be trusting Harry more.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I agree. Hermione and Ron never worked for me either - if she had ended up with Bill that would have made more sense but she and Ron never had anything but experience and childhood friendship in common. As for Ginny and Harry, they've got their own problems but hopefully things will work out for them. That said, no one can ever be assured of a happy ending. Life is just far too contrary most of the time.
Response from mimmom (Reviewer)
not to mention that relationships are hard work much of the time and the people involved must be willing to do the work.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. And given our knowledge of Ron, it is almost impossible to imagine him working hard at the relationship - it would always fall to Hermione to keep compromising her principles if she was with him. Their breaking up is the best thing for her.
The Malfoys did Draco a disservice by coddling him. Poor silly thing. I'm glad things are looking up for Severus.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. Yes, Draco has been unluncky to the only child of overly protective and wealthy parents, but I think he's finally seeing that life is not always a bed of roses.Severus I'm sure deserves all the happiness he gets after the trials he has faced.Thank you so much for the reviews and the pretty stars. I do apprecite them very much.
Very good. I'm glad you included Luna in this. She's one of my favorite characters. Different and brilliant and with no ego to speak of.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. Luna is fabulous. Thank you so much for the review and the pretty stars.
I am intrigued. This is good. I will keep reading. :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much. I do appreciate you taking the time to leave a review.
wow, great idea for a fic. I haven't seen one like it and I've read quite a few. Severus does seem to repel quite a number of people. Poor thing.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. I'm really pleased to know the idea has grabbed your attention.
How sad! I suppose if he had warned her in advance, she still wouldn't have been prepared for the heartache of being shunned by her parents. It is a good thing that she took him along for support. The fact that he didn't want to take advantage of her broken emotional state speaks volumes about his feelings for her. There may be hope for curse breaking yet! I hadn't thought about the fact that she is on bad terms with the Weasleys and so has essentially lost two sets of parents. At least she has the Malfoys. If someone had told her a year ago that they would be her surrogate family, she would have laughed at them, but look at her now. I think they deserve a happy chapter up next, don't you?
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I do think they deserve a happy chapter next, and since it is not yet written, I shall see what I can do about it :)But yes, who would have thought that Hermione would turn to the Malfoys for comfort when the Weasleys and her own parents rejected her. Life sure is strange.
Interesting to see what happens when they return to Hogwarts. :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Yes, I think going back to Hogwarts is sure to bring interesting things their way.
How selfish of the Grangers, to not really realize that she did what she did to save their lives. How self absorbed this version of them is. Their only child. Hermione's mother was at least the more honest when she went with her instincts of never having wanted a child but that does not mean she never loved her. People who use the teachings of Christ to rationalize cruelty are the least Christian among us.Still enjoying the story though!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much. I just wanted to challenge the easy acceptance that some stories have of Hermione's parents. What she did was drastic, and it can have had dramatic repurcussions. I also wanted to play with the accepted idea that all parents would openly accept their child being magical. It's interesting to problematise situations. However, the chapter was never really meant as a criticism of Christianity. Just a criticism of bigotry and narrow-minded hypocracy.
Response from joyfulheart (Reviewer)
I agree, my point is that in every religion/philosophy there are those who would distort the original teachings to suit their less than noble needs.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. More up soon :)
great chapter, poor hermione, such rejection....
looking forward to more
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I agree. But Hermione's a strong girl, and having the Malfoys and Severus is sure to give her comfort.
poor Hermione.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. It's really good that Severus went with her.
faboo update!!! loved hermione using slytherine wiles to catch a slythin. thanks so much and mucho smoochies
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. More up soon, promise.
Oh, I love it when Hermione uses cunning! She's definitely getting to Severus, and he thinks he's driving it. LOL. Men! It will be interesting to see what happens when they get to Australia. Excellent chapter!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much. Getting back to the story is the only thing I'm looking forward to about the end of my holiday.
you had hg nicely play ss here. can't wait for more.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it :)
I don't know how I missed the update of your wonderful story, but I am so pleased to find it! :)Anyway, I think Hermione absolutely has the right idea in taking a more Slytherin approach to bring Severus to her. And I agree with her, he would never expect her to channel her inner snake and use such tactics on him. Clever girl, our Hermione.Harry was rather clever too, in his handling of Ron. But he's really got his work cut out for him with Ginny and Molly. Ron's been mostly crude and insensitive towards Hermione, but those two vipers have been downright vicious.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. I totally agree. Harry's got a big task ahead of him.
This chapter went well. I am glad that Harry had the foresight to talk to Ron, instead of waiting until he found out how serious Severus and Hermione were from another source, and went ballistic. It does seem as if Ron is making an effort to control the dark. Maybe his family will follow suit.I was a bit concerned that Severus was going to let the curse cloud his judgement. But that sneaky Slytherin Hermione (isn't she an adjunct member at least) has got him quite figured out. Hope that continues to work for her.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Yes, a Slytherin Hermione is just what's needed for Severus and the curse. Nothing else will get through his thick defences.
LOL. Very sneaky. The dress was a perfect touch. :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you :) I'm glad you think so. I like sneaky Slytherinesque Hermione.
Way to go, Hermione! Find your inner Slytherin with meditation exercises and empowering mantras... Severus won't know what hit him. Which is a good thing, because Hermione doesn't have to just outsmart him, she needs to also outsmart his curse.I'm glad to see that Harry was able to get through to Ron regarding his treatment of Hermione. Maybe now Ron can start to further let go of his resentment and focus on a new beginning for himself...even if that means it's with tacky Lavender Brown! Now how to tackle Ginny (and by extension Molly)? She and her mother seem to be feeding off one another and reinforcing each other, so I figure they either need to be separated and worked on or try to deal with the both of them simultaneously.I'm looking forward to seeing Severus' and Hermione's adventures in Australia together!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much. Yes, I think Ginny and Molly are next on Harry's agenda. He's not going to let the closest thing to a family that he's ever known succumb to darkness.
Love the storyline. It's really unique among the other fan fics I've read. I like how you've kept the characterizations very realistic. Can't wait to see the sparks begin to fly between Hermione and Severus.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you so much :)
I'm glad Harry is reevaluating his relationship with Ginny. I really don't want to see him with her much longer. I think he'd be better suited to Luna than anyone else. I think Harry being agitated with Severus' behavior towards Hermione is mainly because he's worried about Severus' intentions. Meaning, if Severus wants a relationship with Hermione, or just wants her in bed. Right now, I'd say it's a bit of both. He does want her in his bed, but he wants her forever as well.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello. Yes, I agree. That is a pretty acurate reading of the situation with Harry and Severus. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
I'm glad that Harry is moving along in a positive way. I'm also glad he heard the cattiness of the Weasleys. He really does need to rethink his relationship with Ginny. Luna seems to understand him better anyway.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I agree. But Harry still needs to learn that Ginny and he don't need to be together for him to have access to the Weasleys. I think he feels he needs to be with her to be with them. It's a tough line to cross.
Harry is getting a clue! :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. Harry is finally growing up.
Well Harry has one heck of a burden on his shoulders, doesn't he? Ginny is not going to take this well. And maybe it's just as well if she doesn't. She is no good for him until she gets her dark magic issues under control. He really ought not worry about the nature of the relationship between Severus and Hermione. Straightening out his own life will cause him enough grief, without worrying about anyone else. Is it bad that I'm looking forward to a nasty confrontation between Ginny and Harry?
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
No, of course it's not bad that you're waiting for the confrontation. The thing is though that I think Harry is not going to go into it easily, so you might have a bit of a wait.
In the words of Schmendrick the magician, from The Last Unicorn, "Be wary of wousing a rizard's wrath...rousing a rizards...be wary of making a magician angry!" Harry! Listen to Schendrick! he was very smart! AND he talks to unicorns!...admittedly, also talking trees.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Indeed. Harry is starting to see the light and hopefully will be able to help his friends come to their senses too.
