I'm a 30 something home-maker, writer and researcher. Harry Potter fanfiction is my passion and my great escape from everything. I am deeply in love with Severus Snape and he is the only man I would ever consider leaving my husband for. I am most fond of happy endings. Life is too full of angst and heartache, my dreams and thoughts need something more uplifting.
I was born in Sri Lanka and have lived in India, Poland and now, obviously the UK.
I love food, so many of my stories will have detailed descriptions of things I'm currently craving. I also love travelling, the arts and crafts, cooking, baking, oil painting, especially the pre-Raphaelites, literature and culture in general. My favourite colours are at present are royal purple, silver, emerald green, true red and fucshia. Colour is like music, it speaks silently to the soul when it needs it most.
Reviews for Dark Veela
Poor Draco! His whole world is being turned on its ear, isn't it? I hope he'll use this opportunity to make a fresh start, not just publicly but privately as well. Luna descended from royalty--I love it. How perfect is that? It certainly makes Luna's comments concerning "real" friends much more telling. The people who love her without realizing her family connections must be the most dear to her of them all.And now Severus is starting to see Hermione in a new light... Things are starting to get really, really good.

Hello and thank you for the review and stars :)I'm so pleased you've enjoyed the story thus far and that all the dots I've tried to connect are visible to you. I've got so involved in the story that it is nice to see someone else's take on it in light of canon.Hugs of gratitude :)
Brilliant press conference, on everybody's parts! Harry's taking down Rita Skeeter a notch, Hermione's (hopefully successful) attempt to get the crowd to rethink their ideas concerning Muggle-borns, and Luna's scene-stealing at the end. I do hope she and Harry wind up getting together in this story. Not that I don't like Ginny, but ever since JKR introduced Luna's character in the books, I've always thought that the two of them would be a great match.Harry's line to Minerva at the end was a nice touch--and what better time to enlist her support after her statement about believing in Severus' innocence?

Hello and thank you again for the lovely, thoughtful review and the pretty stars.Yes, to all your points really. I did think that Harry and Luna would get together in my story, but I don't think it's going to happen. Luna is busy getting her father sorted out after his time in Azkaban [heavens, that's a tip off to the rest of the story, don't tell anyone else].xxx
Great plotting with Headmaster Black... I've always liked him, and having both him and Luna get a chance to shine had me bouncing in my chair as I read! I'll bet the look on his face when Harry told him he could have been in Slytherin was priceless. The only revelation that could possibly trump that would be if Phineas shot back that the Hat offered him Gryffindor! Luna's request for Black's advice was brilliant. Keep him buttered up, and he'll move mountains for you.

Hello and thank you so much for the review and the lovely stars,Yes, Headmaster Black is ace as my friend Pete would say :) He's a mix of Severus and Lucius in my mind [utterly delicious yet slightly distrubing in a very good way].I love your idea of the comeback for Phineas. I wish I'd thought of that :)Luna is as ever, delightful to wriite. I do think she's under represented in fiction.
Quick thinking on the Malfoy's parts, but gosh, don't even ask Hermione if she wants to come along! Well, to be fair, they're probably not used to thinking of her as anyone to be concerned with yet. But hopefully Draco at least will think to give her an update later on...What next, what next?

Hello and thank you for the review and the lovely stars,I think the Malfoys are about to realise that things have changed dramatically. They are going to have to re-examine everything they've ever held dear soon.
Ah, well that answers my questions about the Dark Veela offspring--it's a curse, not an odd little-known branch of Veela. And now Severus has to try to break the cycle. Knowing him, he's probably thinking "I'm the last hope? We're doomed..." Ah, but I see an insufferable know-it-all in his future to help save him!I'm looking forward to see how that relationship goes...I'm sure it won't be easy. Also glad to see Luna in the list of characters for your story--I love Luna, she's always such fun to read about.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you again for the review and the lovely stars.I do like Luna and it has been fun to include her in the story. I'm glad the second chapter answered some of your questions :)
I have seen this story pop up for some time now but have never started reading it until now--how stupid could I have possibly been for waiting so long?!? This is a great concept! I feel like the dumbest person in the world for ignoring this for so long! But that is changing. I'm officially placing this on my Favorites list, and I am reading every single chapter you've got in one sitting, starting now. The Dark Veela concept is intriguing, and I'll be very interested to see how it plays out in your story. Do the Dark Veela traits always breed true, or does there come a point where the Veela bloodline is so diluted that subsequent offspring are just considered "ordinary" witches and wizards who are perhaps just a touch annoying for no discernible reason?I'm off to the next chapter!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you so much for the review and the pretty stars.I'm so pleased you've enjoyed the concept and are reading the rest.Enjoy :)
I just found this story and it is wonderful. You have picked up where the last book ended (minus that awful epilogue) and have done a wonderful job. Look forward to more.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you so much for the review. I'm really pleased you like the way the story is going. I hated the epilogue. It was dreadful.
I just started reading this story and it is wonderful. I love your attention to detail and look forward to more!!

Hello and thank you for the review.I'm glad you enjoyed Harry's attack of Dumbledore - I enjoyed writing his rant.
Kingsley is pretty cool in this! :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you for the review. Yes, I think so. I find Kingsley one of the many fascinating minor characters.
Love this. Was reading it on ashwinder but i don't think you have as many chapters posted there. Can't wait for more.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello. Thank you. Yes, I was posting it on Ashwinder, but they are really hard to post on, and they keep rejecting my chapters, so have given up for the moment and am carrying on posting here. I'll get back to Ashwinder later on.I'm glad you're still reading the story, and that you're enjoying it. More coming soon, promise :)
Response from MakalaniAstral (Reviewer)
I know that Ashwinder can be a pain in the ass. It stinks that they reject so many. They rejected a friend's story which I beta'd. That story was perfect (I'm a trained editor) so I was shocked. Glad we have other places to read from as well, though.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thanks. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. My beta isn't obviously as experienced as you seem, but she did work hard. I'm now doubly glad you're enjoying the story, since I'm sure you read some really good pieces of writing.
Yay for telling off Albus! Too bad Minerva's just realizing the bad that he did. But I'll bet she'll be good to her word in trying to patch things up with Severus.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thanks for the review.Oh, yes, I do think Minerva's genuine in her vow to make things right between herself and Severus.I enjoyed writing Harry's rant at Dumbledore. It's what I feel myself.
Seems like the Malfoys are in for a bit of change. Glad Severus is awake.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you for the review,Yes, they are indeed in for a big change. As for Severus, now that he is awake, the fun can begin :)
i am so with them on the issue of albus and his manipulations. wonderful setting of the plan. thanks and mucho smoochies
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you so much for the review. I'm really glad you approve. I felt it was important for Harry to let Albus know how much he resented the manipulations.
Phineas will be a useful ally! :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you for the review. Yes, indeed, I do think Headmaster Black is going to be a useful ally.
More please ... I really like this Harry and Hermione ... and having Luna replace Ron as the pureblood ... oh the possiblities.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you for the review. I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far and that you like the way I've got Harry and Hermione depicted. Its not going to be all sunshine and roses though, so be prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride.
Nice. And I like Phineas giving advice.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you so much for the review. I'm glad you approve of the use of Headmaster Black. I find him a really interesting person, kind of like a blend between Lucius and Severus really.
Very interesting chapter. I like the way this story is shaping up.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you for the review. I'm really glad you've enjoyed it thus far. xxx
I love that they've included Black in this. I'm sure he'll be invaluable.I was intrigued by Luna's mention of Severus being beautiful to look at. Can it be that a girl who can see wrackspurts and believes in crumple-horned snorkacks can see through a curse into his true appearance? Totally cool!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you so much for the review. I hadn't thought of her seeing through the curse, more that she could see through the disguise into his real aura and magical signature if you will. She can see that despite his Darkness that he is really basically honourable and good inside.xxx
At least the Malfoys are still thinking! :)
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you for the review. Yes, indeed, the Malfoys are thinking and soon they'll be plotting as well.
i think first she'll have to win over the malfoys. wonderful update. thanks and smoochies
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you for leaving a review. Glad you enjoyed the update. The Malfoys are very smart people, they know that things have now changed.xxx
She'd better hurry up and follow them! An interesting choice for Hermione to bring along. But her logic is true, and they were his friends. Can't wait to see what else you have in store for us.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you so much for the review. I do hope you enjoy the rest of the story. As for now, Hermione has other fish to fry besides following the rather rude Malfoys :)x
Ah, a bride-price AND a dowry? Are we getting to see a morning-gift, too? I'd kind of like to see the details of how the bride-price and dowry work themselves out. :pAnd I loved Luna's description of the auras.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello my dear,Soon I will try to reveal what the bride price and dowry entailed. I am hoping for it to be a bit of a splash when it comes out :)Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. xxx
I really like the dynamic between Narcissa, Severus, and Hermione. And the stories they are telling her are interesting. It's not every day you find someone with info unknown by our favorite little know-it-all.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you for the review and the stars. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the chapter. I wanted Hermione to reaslise how stilted and one sided her awareness and understanding of the society she had supposedly joined actually was. This way, she's going to be more open to learning things from a more objective and plural perspective.
Interesting Pureblood lore...It will be interesting to see what happens with Severus, and with Hermione as the story goes on.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hello and thank you for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed the background history of the purebloods.
