I'm a 30 something home-maker, writer and researcher. Harry Potter fanfiction is my passion and my great escape from everything. I am deeply in love with Severus Snape and he is the only man I would ever consider leaving my husband for. I am most fond of happy endings. Life is too full of angst and heartache, my dreams and thoughts need something more uplifting.
I was born in Sri Lanka and have lived in India, Poland and now, obviously the UK.
I love food, so many of my stories will have detailed descriptions of things I'm currently craving. I also love travelling, the arts and crafts, cooking, baking, oil painting, especially the pre-Raphaelites, literature and culture in general. My favourite colours are at present are royal purple, silver, emerald green, true red and fucshia. Colour is like music, it speaks silently to the soul when it needs it most.
Reviews for Dark Veela
First I wonder if you've abandoned this story. I've enjoyed what I've read so far. I think thought it was a mistake to go to the Fudge's party. yes, keep your enimies clsoe, but they validated him by accepting the invitation. The Fudge's can use the photos taken to prove that Harry and Hermione both support him. They attended his party, here's proof. Quite the opposite of what Hermione thought, I'm actually surprised at her. As for Harry and Ginny, he simple can 'hold' off proposing and let her go off to school. That's 9 months of seperation. And since he's such a great letter writer, NOT, the realationship might fall apart. Or he can call it off in a letter after 3 months or so and start dating Luna. Just a thought. let's see whot you came up with... off to read more

Hello and I do apologise for not responding before this. But I never got the email telling me there was a review.I've not abandoned the story. It is just that my beta is unable to find time at the moment, and so I'm only posting on ff.net. I need to sort myself out with the betaing and get posting here too. Thank you for your thoughts. You're right of course. Hermione should have seen that. They will learn as they grow older, I hope. Besides, I think if she had asked Cissy that the Malfoys would have made her go. You can't allow people to think you weren't invited. But maybe I'm being a bit obtuse here.Anyway, Harry and Ginny are on the rocks, and later on there are words between them :)
Fantastic chapter! It's nice to see this new angle and deviation in the story. You're addressing Ginny's darkness and adding a valid and plausible reason to the darkness and it's effects as not dealt with in canon.

Thank you. I adored Ginny, and it was really hard to make her bad in my stories. But I really wanted to explore what happens when good people go bad and you don't really get a better family than the Weasleys. Normal with faults, but on the side of good etc. I love the Slytherins. They are just so unexplored. I wanted to see what happened when that was coupled with the Weasley fertility. What would they covert? Why? and so on.

Great to see a more relaxed and open Severus again.
Lovely little meeting with Luna, Tory and Hermione. Will Luna be teaching them to read auras too?
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I don't know if the others have the patience or the desire to look that deeply at auras. You need to really care about people, and Luna is so good at being one with the universe. I've given her that aspect through her surname - love + good - the ability to love truly and well.

Great chapter! Glad to see you're having the Slytherin's taking over slowly. Looking forward to seeing more character interaction after the Halloween Feast / Ball!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. Aren't the Slytherins brilliant? I love 'Tory.

Great chapter! Loved the interactions and subterfuge for the meeting in the Room of Requirement. Glad to see the banter between Ron and Draco hasn't left completely. Looking forward to seeing how tea goes with Severus, Hermione and Minerva!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I doubt Ron and Draco are ever going to be best buddies. Wary aquaintances at best possibly - with time though Hermione might just wear them down :)

Another good chapter! Great to see Ron's eyes are opening and he sees what he needs to change and is going about changing. Nice to see Molly on the fence and on the verge of changing. Looking forward to seeing their progress! Ah, so now that Hermione's told Hannah, Susan and Neville about her betrothal will it leak out before it's finalised?
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Hufflepuffs don't blab. That's one thing I'm quite sure off :)Thank you for your reviews. I'm so pleased you're still taking the time to write your thoughts.

So, we can expect a new baby Malfoy in the near-distant future, after Astoria designs the new garden. Quite the handy predictor that. With the Order intending for Molly to do up the garden at the Burrow, will they end up with another baby Weasley to distract Molly too? I'm glad to see Severus was able to reel his mental faculties back under control after Hermione said 'yes' to his proposal. Now, will the wedding be next or will something else happen in-between? Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you for getting me to think more. I'd not really thought of baby Draco/Astoria or another baby Weasley. I'd just focused on the whole healing thing and possibly the older Malfoys at some point - but even that's still not decided in my mind.

Glad to see they're returning to a sense of normality to their relationship. I wonder how long it'll be before Lucius has the betrothal contract finished and it's all made public? Gah, Molly, Ginny & Ron- they're really in for it from Minerva, Poppy & Pomona aren't they?
Off for more...
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you for the review. Yes, I don't think they ever expected to come across such strong women. But Ron's almost over his blindness. I'm so glad.

*snigger* at Lucius's final comment.
Fantastic to see most of the Weasley men still treating Hermione decently and making the effort to mend bridges and move on with the Malfoys.

Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Glad you enjoyed that part. The Weasley men are smart and they aren't going to give in to their darkness. Just because Molly and Ginny are still suffering is not an excuse for the rest of the family to be blind.

Lovely. Glad to see Hermione's doing something about the castle's warning and that Minerva (and Kingsley) are backing her. Looking forward to seeing how they implement if not the actual Halloween feast!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. I'm enjoying having Minerva and Kingsley involved. We never do see enough of them in canon and they are such fantastic characters.

Aw, lovely! Glad to see despite her actions Hermione is determined to fix what went wrong. How cool learning to speak with the castle!

Yay, the formal 'adoption!' Leave it to Severus to have to explain it all to Hermione, though.

I think the Malfoys were afraid she'd refuse. I think that's why they did it in such a way that she would go directly to Severus and he'd be able to tell her. Glad you're still enjoying the story. Thank you for the reviews.

Lovely to see Lucius and Cissy make their stance clear that they accept Hermione as their daughter. Fab chapter!

Thank you. I wanted to have the Malfoy family grow, and Hermione is so often made a Malfoy in fanfiction through her connection [sexually] to either Draco or Lucius, that this more plutonic manner just seemed interesting.

He he, love it that Hermione keeps getting more 'people' on her side. Interesting conversation and nice to see the castle brought in as a sentient being.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Yes, the castle is such a fabulous creation. It needs more of a part to play in stories, [I think] anyway.

Great to see Hermione returning to school and able to experience true friendship, despite Ginny's venom. Glad Astoria pointed out the error of Hermione's way in regarding to handling the Headmaster.Off to read more!

Mm.... I think have Slytherin friends is going to give Hermione a real education in how to think in critical and twisty ways :)

It's nice to see some good come out of Hermione's bad situation and that Severus is making progress fighting the curse. Re-reading this is making me realise just how much of this story I don't remember (or missed the first time around).Off to read some more...

Such a lovely chapter. Especially with Severus realising he has a chance to possibly beat the Veela Curse instead of just having a chance at a bit of happiness.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. He more than anyone in that world in my mind deserves to be happy. He's suffered so much - I'm often really annoyed that JK just left him to die like that alone. Thank goodness for fanfiction!

Glad to see Harry has his eyes opened for himself. Far better than anyone trying to force them open for him. Looking forward to seeing him break things off with Ginny!
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. Yes, it was time Harry grew up. He was so annoying at times during the series. But I just guess that's JK's brilliance in having a hero with flaws.

Loved seeing Ginny's jealousy and Harry's easily misinterpreted comment.
Nice to see Severus teasing Hermione verbally and opening the chance to get to know one another better.

Nice to see the Malfoys trying to rebuild their relationship with Andromeda. Will this mean Harry will be invited soon so he can see Teddy?Loved the interaction between Severus and Hermione in the library. He certainly has a way of wooing Hermione, doesn't he?
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
I never really thought that Harry would need to be sent a formal invitation as such to be with Teddy. I just assumed that they would chat at an Order meeting or something and work something out. Hmm... now you've made me wander down a new strand in the story. As for Severus, yes, he knows how to press her buttons. Lucky Hermione!

He he he. Loved Hermione's reaction.
The revelations of Severus and Hermione's pasts was really well handled and believable. Nice touch with the little conversation between Hermione and Lucius.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Thank you. I'm so glad you're still taking the time to leave reviews and that you think the plot is believable. I thought that it would really put Hermione into a bother when she discovered that Severus really liked her. I mean, he's her teacher and she's always done the hero worship the teacher thing, putting them on a kind of pedestal. To see the all too human side must in a way kind of terrify her, even as she is attracted to him.

Well, I think he's made at least one of his intentions blatantly clear. Nice to see he's not rushing her and treating her with respect, despite his motives at present.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Mmmm.... I don't think Severus is really ever the kind to rush into things, no matter how he is sometimes portrayed. I think he's been burnt too often for foolishly made decisions to not be overly cautious wherever possible,

Glad to see the honest machinations are continuing, but the Malfoys and Severus have realised that they really do, like Hermione. It's refreshing how slow the build up is instead of slamming everyone together and they're magically friends.
Response from kittyperry (Author of Dark Veela)
Mmm... well it really doesn't work that way too often does it. I mean, sometimes you do get that spark of friendship that's kind of like falling in love, but often, things need time to grow. You need to learn people and figure out that this thing has solid potential.

He he he. I like seeing motives out in the open. Nice way to lay most of the cards on the table.

Thank you. It seemed the best way to proceed. I'm not good at the whole twisty plotting - so this seemed the easiest approach for me :)
