Reviews for Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P)
By all means do the sequel. And since you are rewriting book seven who says we have to have a long boring camping trip? You can gloss over the trip and show more of what's happening at the school, and perhaps give our dear Severus a happier ending?
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
I do think that the Severus chapters would be really interesting to write. I'm feeling pretty committed to the idea, actually ;) Thanks for the encouraging review, :)
You do such an excellent job of depicting Severus under the horrible pressures of his life... by all means do a sequel. I'd like to know what it was REALLY like when he was Headmaster. I admit I'm also hoping for EWE. But go for it.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! Actually, I think the Severus chapters of a sequel would be lots of fun; it'd just be the Hermione chapters that would court disaster. :)ps. I'm shocked by the suggestion that you wouldn't want to see SS left bleeding and abandoned on the floor of the Shrieking Shack!! ;)Thanks again for the lovely review.
"I do, however, have plans for a sequel : Phoenix Tears (or, Hermione Granger and the Deathly Hallows). What do you reckon? It would mean that Hermione might have to spend an awfully long and boring time in a tent, Severus will be stuck at Hogwarts where none of his friends will love him anymore . . . only Hermione will know which side he's truly on . . . I dunno, are you interested?"GODS, yes! Are you kidding!?!?!?When I read that THIS is the "next-to-last" chapter, I was about to let loose a howl you could hear from here to where-ever it is you are---until I read this disclaimer. You most definitely have a GUARANTEED reader for your sequel here! Severus deserves a FAR better ending than DH and JKR gave him, and I trust you to be more than capable of that, given how wonderful this story has been so far.So---GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Hey there
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
, thank you for such a lovely, lovely review. :) Your encouragement is most appreciated. And thus, a sequel there shall be.Can you howl as far as Brooklyn? I'd like to hear it ;)Thanks again!
Response from countrymouse (Reviewer)
What--you didn't hear that strange, despairing cry last night around 8 pm? (sounded a little like some night bird) {grin}I read your bio (after sending the response) and saw you're an Aussie but living in Brooklyn now. Why don't you come down South for a vacation sometime---straight on down the east coast to Georgia? If you ever do, let me know--I'd be glad to give you the grand tour! (smile)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Man, the idea of a vacation sounds divine *sigh* If I come, I'll let you know :)
i would love a sequel but hopefully with a happy ending for snape
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
:) Well . . . I wouldn't want to give away the ending! :)Thanks for the review and the encouragement.
Dont stop! I love it, and to stop writing would be a crime for sure, lol.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
A crime? Well, in _that_ case ;) I'm so glad that you're enjoying it! I think a sequel seems to be in order. :)Thanks for the review.
Yes! Yes! Yes! to the sequel - loving it! Sorry to see it end!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! I'm glad that you're enjoying the story. :) Given the enthusiastic response, you can count on a sequel, just around the corner . . . :)Thanks again.
There are so many, many good things to say about this piece (and most of them have already been said quite eloquently in previous reviews). The only thing which could possibly improve this work would be......a sequel! Hate to see this one end, but I will definitely be looking forward to your very individualistic take on the events of Deathly Hallows.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much for your lovely review. I will indeed write the sequel, in fact, I'm looking forwards to it! :)Thanks again.
*sighs* Of COURSE we're interested, my dear. You can't just leave us here!!! You threw out that tantalizing little snippet about him crying because he's in love with his student ... you can't just let it go at that! Lovely chapter, as always, and I can't wait for the rest. And the sequel. *death glare, but not really*
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Well, I *could* just leave it at that, but then you'd probably hate me forever and that wouldn't be very nice ;p Thank you for such a lovely review. Just as soon as I get my RL in order I'll start posting the sequel! I promise.
Response from LadyTuesday (Reviewer)
LOL, well, I can't say I'd hate you, but I WOULD be in angsty torment every time I saw the story title and would probably engage in some old-man-esque fist-shaking. ^_^And I can TOTALLY understand about RL and sequels ... I've been trying to start a sequel for my most popular fic for three months now. The crap thing is, I know what I want to happen, it just doesn't want to write itself. Anyway, I'll be very happy if/when you ever write a sequel to this and I'll wait anxiously for the next chapter!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Sometimes the writing urge is there, others it's not. *sigh* I have a work deadline coming up and I keep trying to tell myself that if I just knuckle down and do it I could get back to writing fanfic instead ;)
I can't believe there's only one chapter left. By all means, yes - do a sequel. This is one of the most well writen stories on this site. I love it. Please don't stop. Thanks for wonderful story!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Well, there's only one chapter left because the school year is very nearly over. Now that Harry's attacked Draco, there's not that much left to happen.Thank you very much for the high praise of my writing. I've never written fiction before and I found it incredibly, imensely fun and rewarding.I'll get to work on the sequel soon . . . I just have a few RL things that need to be orgainised first. Thanks again for the review.
Maria said it all! Definitely a sequel. Please Please Please!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Okay! :) As long as I know people will read it, I'll write it. Thanks for the review. :)
Definitely write a sequel!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Okay! :) Thanks for the review! :)
Thank you so much for the update, it was wonderful as always. To the question about a sequel, YES, absolutely, but only if you promise it to be "EWE". I do not want to read a wonderful story (as I am sure it will be with your talent, proven with the work you have done so far), to see Severus die at the end and Hermione kissing Ron, not to mention marry Ron and have his children. Just the thougth of Hermione with Ron (I admit that I hate that pairing), will put me of any story. JKR ruined the end of the whole story for me by her writing, I don't think I'll ever read DH again. :-))
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Well, no comments on the content, as I hate to give away the ending ;) but you can rest assured that I found the epilogue rather irritating myself. It seemed to foreclose so many possibilities while signalling that inter-house rivalry and discrimination against Slytherins was ingrained in the next generation. :( Not a great move on JKR's part, in my opinion. Thanks for the review and the encouragement--there will be a sequel as soon as I have time to write it. :)
oh yes I think a sequel would be great
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Okay, then! :) Thank you for the review.
I am interested in the sequel - I have enjoyed this story very much!!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very, very much! That's exactly the kind of encouragement I need to keep going :) Thanks again for the review.
I have a feeling you would manage to make it much more interesting than you describe. After all I can think of at least one meeting they will need to choreograph already.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
I think you have more faith in my writing than I deserve; thank you. The memories? Yes, okay, that's for sure.Alright, once I get my RL workload back under control, I'll start work on the sequel. :) Thanks for the review!
Of course i'm interested in the sequel! Silly question, I want to see these pair get through it meaning Severus ALIVE! Hermione not kissing Ron but Severus instead! Then they both go to undo Hermione parents memory charm! Do I ask to much? lol*I'm still in shock that its the last chapter though*
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Severus alive? hmm . . . I wouldn't want to give away the ending, now, would I? ;pOkay, though, I will write a sequel--we'll have to wait and see what my twisted mind comes up with. Thanks for the encouraging review. :)
Um - yeah I agree with Maria and everyone else. Please a sequel! I hate to see this one end but alas, it must. Can't wait for the next chapter - and for the sequel You've done such an amazing job!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! (Maria certainly hit the nail on the head, didn't she?) The next chapter is already in the queue--so I hope you like it when it arrives :) Thank you for all of your encouragement, I shall write the sequel asap.
DAMN RIGHT I'm interested!Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmiegimmiegimmie!I want to see Hermione in that tent!I want to know how the thing with her parents went, what were her real thoughts upon reading the newspaper article on Severus becoming the new Headmaster. How was she coping with the Horcrux? To see her side of the Bathilda disaster and how she coped in the Malfoy Manor. To learn why did they went to the ministry instead of seeking out where Umbridge lived; and whether Hermione found flying on a dragon superior to her previous experiences.I want to read about Severus being stuck at Hogwarts! How his daily interactions with Minerva and the others went. What did Vector do, and how he managed to keep her off the Dark Lords radar throughout the year. What were Carrows up to and how he thwarted them? I want to read about Neville and Ginny's burglary attempt. About Severus POV at the frozen lake. I want to know his thoughts - oh the angst! - and of course, how much he missed Hermione. And most of all, I want to read about the Shack and find out whether all these phoenix motifs will come into play the way I hoped they would! In other words, I want you to fix what JKR f#cked up in Book 7. You've done such an admirable job of it with Book 6, after all.Thank you in advance!Maria
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Oh, Maria, I saved responding to this review till last because, well, because it's perfect. THANK YOU! :)You have captured my motivations in writing this story with absolute precision. I will definitely write the story, and there will undoubtedly by angst. To be sure, I would have written it anyway, but knowing that people such as yourself are out there reading it and appreciating the model will help me not to stress too much about it being merely derivative of the original and thus encourage me to post it sooner rather than letting it rot on my harddrive! :)Thanks again for such a lovely, lovely, encouraging, insightful review. You rock.
Response from Anathema (Reviewer)
Awww! You're making me blush.
Of course a sequel will be met with eager readers. Your story is so very interesting and your portraing of Severus and Hermione so good. Hopefully you will let him live on and have some happines in the rest of his life (preferebly with Hermione)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Well, I wouldn't want to give away the ending ;) Thank you for the review and the encouragement; a sequel there shall be. :)Thanks again.
Interested in a sequel? mmm, let me think...YEEEESSSSS!!!! OMG - you can't keep it hanging.... and what about kissing and stuff??? mmmm???She has to express her feelings for him at some point, and vice versa... right????*still in shock that there's only one chapter left*
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you for the deliciously enthusiastic review :) Okay, I shall write a sequel. Actually, I hope you like the last chapter (which is already in the queue).Thank you again for the encouragement. :)
Response from neelix (Reviewer)
Oh yes! I am doing my little happy dance....I'll enjoy the next chapter?? Does that mean there's an exchange of saliva????oh. god... I hope it's not too far down the queue!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Well, now, I wouldn't want to give the plot details away, but I did try and put a twist on the events surrounding Dumbledore's death . . . :)
I have enjoyed how you have woven your own story into Rowling's. It didn't feel as though I was reading a play-by-play of HBP. If you can do that with DH, I have no doubt that it would be a wonderful story. I'm all the more interested because I have enjoyed this story immensely and will be very sad to see it end. I say go for it.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you. It's a fine balance to make sure there's enough of the original story that this one seems to fit in, but not so much that it gets boring. I think Hermione's role will be harder to write in DH, because she's in the tent so much; but on the other hand, I think Snape will be easier to write, because we know so little of what he was actually up to. I'll give it a shot. Worst case scenario it'll be an abject failure, right? :)
Response from rachow (Reviewer)
I'll follow it to the end even if it is a failure. :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
You're too nice! Now I'll have to finish it :)
Do you even need to ask??? Of course!! I just know that it'll be great and that you'll give it a twist... So, that would be a "Yes, I'm interested".Great work on this chapter!!gab
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Well, even if no-one had responded, I probably would have written the story anyway--though I might have left it languishing on my harddrive. I would certianly *try* to give it a twist ;) Thanks for the lovely review, and for your earlier ones, too. :)
YES! You cannot let it end here! This is one of the best written fanfics I've found in a long time (thanks so much for not making Snape a secret fluffy bunny).
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you, thank you. :) I could never make him fluffy. He'd Adava me at the suggestion :)A sequel there shall be. Just give me a few weeks :)
Hell yes, I'm interested in a sequel!I'm sure you'll find a way to make sitting in a tent an interesting read.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you! Such faith . . . the tent scenes were not my favourite moments in the HP fandom, I must admit. Alright then, I'll give it a whirl. :) Thanks for the encouragement.
What? There must be some mistake! Only one more chapter to go! 1. Only one? But youhave so mcuh more to tell! COme oer and we'll have a glass of wine Margarita's or I make awesome Dacris nad we'll discuss this! You have loads more to cover! Really. It can't be over!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
:) But the year is almost over! Now that Harry's attacked Draco there's precious little time left. :)There's a lot more story to be told, though, it's true. A couple of drinks and I'd be promising to write the lot tomorrow and hang all of the RL work that's looming ominously . . . :) Is that what you want?I'll write a sequel, but it won't be until summer, not before June. Okay? And then we can drink dry gin martinis together in the park somewhere while we type happily on our laptops. :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Reviewer)
Oh boy, oh boy! Yes! Whoot! I'll bing the gin!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
:) You're on.
