Reviews for Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P)
Poor Severus... Although the kiss was very very clever! lol... glad it was there, too...So excited about the sequel. I cannot believe this is your first story, it's amazingly written. Thanks for sharing it!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
I'm glad you liked it!! :)Thanks for the praise regarding my writing, I've had such fun writing fiction--even more than I ever expected. Thanks for reading and reviewing :)
“I don’t know why you always feel obliged to take an oath at the smallest opportunity It was a fair question even if it was a bit snarky! You put a smile on my face!I am interested in your spin on book 7 if you could please change a few things?1. Dont let them starve whilst camping. Give them an elf to take care of them. 2. Make sure Severus and Hermione can have weekly dates, preferably naked. 3. As little of sad sack Ron as possible4. NO SNAPE DYING
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
*grins* They are very good suggestions, particularly the one about the elf. I never really understood why they didn't call upon Kreacher or Dobby. But then, I never understood why they didn't just Obliviate Yaxley! Thanks for the review.
Well done! I am glad that Hermione finally got a kiss "of sorts". I have been waiting for that. Have a productive RL few weeks so you can come back and contribute to my RL deliquency!I have thoroughly enjoyed your story, and without your admission, would not have guessed it to be your first!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! I had such fun writing the story, that I'm going to be back as soon as possible :)
Brava, dear author. Please take a bow during this interlude between one epic and the next.I'm glad that you sent Hermione to get the HBP's old potions book out of the RoR. I always hated that it most likely burned with all of the other things in the Room of Hidden Things.Thank you for addressing Harry's lack of remorse in almost killing Draco. It was Severus and Sirius all over again, and the fact that Harry was allowed to brush it off always bothered me in canon. As for the Slytherins, the Leaving Feast of First Year set the scene for the mass walkout in TDH, but I had forgotten about them being ostracized at the funeral as well. You've done a great job in showing how JKR pretty blatantly tarred them all with the same brush. I wonder how many of them would have stood and defended the school if Dumbledore hadn't polarized the situation?Anyway, great job as always.~

Thank you very much :) It always bothered me that the Potions book burnt. It was a bit like JKR wasn't satisfied with killing Snape, she also had to destroy all of his posessions. *sigh*Actually, I agree with all of your points so there's not much value in me rehashing them!Thank you for the lovely review, and indeed, for all of your lovely reviews along the way. :) See you soon!
Your Luna cracks me up.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you! I find Luna really tricky to write without turning into a cliche.
Looking forward to the next installment!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you! (Me, too, actually, as it will mean that a whole lot of other stuff is over!!) Thanks for the review :)
Yes! Write the sequel!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Oh, okay, then! I'll write it, but only because you asked ;) Thanks for the review. :)
I've thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to you continuing the saga next month.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! I've really enjoyed writing it and I'm looking forward to the next part of the saga, too.
I'm so glad you're going to keep on with the story! I love this plot, and you've written it beautifully. Congrats, and keep writing!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! I very much appreciate knowing that you've enjoyed it. Thanks again. :)
Well. I don't think I've reviewed this at all, but I have been reading each installment quite eagerly. This story has been a joy to read, with excellent characterization and strong prose. If you are still considering it, I truly would love to read a sequel. There is not enough truly good fic getting written in this genre, and another contribution from you would really help. Thanks so much, and I've truly enjoyed the ride!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much for the lovely review.I am very much intending to write a sequel--just as soon as I've got my RL under control. I have really enjoyed writing this one, so I'm pretty much looking forward to it.Thanks again for the review. :)
Well, I truly enjoyed your version of events. I look forward to the sequel.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! As soon as I get my real life deadlines under control, I'll be back with more. :)
Thank you so very much for this story! I enjoyed it from start to finish. I look forward the Phoenix Tears.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! It means a lot to me to hear it. The sequel is not too far away . . . :)
Exquisite. I will be waiting with bated breath for a sequel.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! I can't wait to get to it myself ;) Thanks again, g.
Oh, how I LOVED the kiss! I was so afraid Severus would vanish away without giving Hermione any hint of his feelings. It seems here she still doesn't actually "get it", but I think that kiss has awakened her heart, and sooner or later it will respond. "She wanted to kiss him again."Oh, yes! I trust you will give her plenty of opportunities to indulge that desire, in your next (Phoenix Tears)? I will be watching for you, after June 3!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Oh, GOOD! :) A very Slytherin kiss, right? Because no-one could be entirely sure of his motives, and he's got the "protective" aspect to fall back on. :)I can't wait to finish my real work and get on with the story ;)Thanks for all the reveiws.
I've been following this story for a few weeks and I have to say I love it! It truly cheered me up each time I noticed you had updated it!By the way, the scene with Severus and Hermione with the Felix Felicis is just amazing. So, thank you for such a wonderful fic and keep writting, please. I will be waiting for the sequel!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! I'm thrilled to think that just the sight of a new chapter cheered you up :) Thank you for saying so.I had that Felix Felicis scene in mind right from the very start, so I'm glad it had an impact :) Thanks for the review, I very much appreciate it.
What a great chapter! You really captured the nervousness, fear and intensity of the situation at Hogwarts, and yet spiced it up with some humor as well. Speaking of which, I loved that line of Ginny's:
“If I realised I was going to get lucky tonight, I would have worn nicer pants,” quipped Ginny as they left the roomI also loved the sneaky way that Severus managed to get the Felix Felicis down Hermione's throat--brilliant and so very Slytherin of him. I'm sure it didn't hurt that he'd been wanting to do that for a long time, anyway... I'm looking forward to June and the sequel!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! :) I did think that kiss was rather supremely Slytherin, actually :) And I'm really glad that I managed to get some of the intensity across. Thanks for all of your reviews along the way, and for this one, too, of course! :)
Brilliant, I loved the idea of the way they shared the Felix Felicis, because that moment explained a lot of things between them. I look forward to the sequel very much.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! I saw the Felix Felicis kiss as a supremely Slytherin move on SS's part; I'm glad you liked it. The sequel is definitely in the works, I promise! Thanks for all of your reviews, g.
Thank you so much - can not wait to see part two!!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
You're very, very welcome! Thank you for all of your reviews along the way :)
Yes! If only so you can fix the dreadful epilouge and make sure that Hermione saves Severus from an undignified and undesered death!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Well, I wouldn't want to give away the ending at this premature date . . . :) Thanks for the review. I declare myself convinced of the worth of a sequel. :) Thanks again.
Hello there,I've read this fic in three days, and well, that's absolutely great. Everyone is talking about a sequel, but I'm not quite sure it should cover the seventh year. It's a hard year for every character, and not really needed if you continue to stick to the original story. Maybe some exchange between H and S, but not a whole story about it. Maybe tweaking it subtly to have S à the end of the story and forget the last chapter "Years later"... Anyway, I stop being a writer-bully.I hope your imagination lead you somewhere great and I wish you a good continuation. Hope to read you again.Marie
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Hi there, Marie, thanks for the review! :)You know, when I first started thinking about a sequel, I wondered much of the same things that you have noted here. But the more I thought about it, the more I felt that the psychological development of the characters is so crucial during the awful year that they have. It seemed that if I skipped forward in time, I would have to waste heaps of time with flashbacks and other fill-ins to explain the changes they'd undergone. The upshot is, that I'm going to give it a try. It might turn out to be a terrible idea, but then, it might not! :)Thanks again for your thoughts, I'm so glad that you've enjoyed the story.
Yes! Sequel! Definately interested! You must! You can't leave us poor Severus-starved witches with no sequel! ^_^
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
*grins* Thank you for such an enthusiastic review! :) Since you seem so keen on the idea, I guess I can manage to whittle out a sequel. Thanks again! :)
Somebody has a new torch to carry. It's about time too. I love the comparisons that you drew between Hermione and Lily. I made a similar comparison about their maturity level and ability to deal with things in a review I wrote for Ariadne's story, Contraceptus, on O.W.L. last year, so it's nice to see someone else with similar views.I am sad to see that come to a close, but I'll look forward to the sequel. I have every confidence that you will do justice to the DH.Until then, happy writing!~

Thank you for the lovely review. Severus has now truly acknowleged his situation :) We'll have to see where that revelation takes him.I'm thrilled that you agree about the Hermione/Lily comparison. It's hard, of course, because we really know so little about Lily from canon, but it does seem that she had a fairly typical childhood (with the exception, perhaps, of her friendship with SS), whereas Hermione did nothing but bounce from one traumatic situation to another--managing somehow to keep Harry on the right track most of the time. Thanks for the encouragement regarding DH--I'm going to need it! :)
only a lot interested. do it.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
:) Okay then, if you insist . . . ;)Thanks for the review.
I hate that this story is nearly over, but I do hope that you write that sequel! "If you write it... they will read..." I think the time as Headmaster from Snape's POV would be fascinating, and getting to see the little things he does behind the scenes to protect the students without anyone knowing would be great fun to read. He can chew out Albus' portrait and tell him that this is all his fault, and Phineas Nigellus' portrait can be its usual snarky self. It'll be fabulous!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you for the review! :) I agree with your assessment of the storyline: I think the Severus sections will be much more fun to read and to write than the Hermione bits. Though, to be honest, I think both halves will be quite angsty. :) I will definitely write it . . . as soon as summer comes and I have some (small amount) of free time! Thanks again, g.
So, sequel idea: it seems as if the story you've been telling will end rather abruptly with one chapter to go. Even with the threat of camping ad nauseum, I would like to see the tale complete...therefore maybe a small sequel? Pretty please?
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Oh, I think it'll feel like an ending, but more like the ending of HBP than the ending of DH, if you get my meaning ;)Since you ask so nicely, I think I could manage a sequel ;)Thanks for the review and the encouragement.
