Hermione Granger returns to Hogwarts for a year of postwar schooling. When, supposedly, all is well for the Know-It-All, events from the past emerge and drama ensues. And where is Severus Snape in all of this? Right smack in the middle, of course! Amidst the turmoil of early adulthood and unrequited feelings, will Severus and Hermione learn to "seize the day"?
AU after HBP, some facts from DH. Mild student-teacher romance. Rated M for later dream sequences, etc. Features some non-explicit HG/DM.

Reviews for Carpe Diem, Part One
I love everything about this chapter.
He-who-doth-not-launder-his-locks. Heh. I'd like to see his face if he heard her call him that. Of course, I think we all know that soon she will be calling him he-who-doth-MAKEMEWANNAHAVEHISBABIES.
...Or, you know. Something to that effect.
I must be drunk or poisoned, because somewhere (deep, DEEP) within me... I actually want them to get together.
I love:
“No, Ronald. I was… theorizing a potion.”
“You can’t be serious,” Seamus stated flatly. There was an uncomfortable silence as many in the group considered Hermione’s sanity.
Is it weird that I sort of want to be best friends with Snape? Both yours and the canon one--although, uh, obviously that would be more difficult, because he's dead.
What can I say? I dig the nose.
And now for the next chapter...
What a amusing chapter! I love Hermione's little plot to give Severus that book for Christmas.
I wonder, what's up next for the pair. Look forward to more.

Next two chapters are in queue!! Get excited! <-- I know I am. Thanks for reviewing,CC
Shouldn't that be more like Lays, no one can have just one.
Wonderful update! Hey...us Brits eat pringles too you know!(and they came with those appallingly happy US commercials too..where do these people in PR get ideas like that from? not to mention geting paid wads of cash for such tripe!!) anyhoo..almost tender Sev but fighting it,pensieve Hermione...classic. Can't wait to see where you go next...unless it's to dish out a bit of Ron-bashing...useless selfish, unthinking oaf that he is, yup...I love Ron! Harry is still cute...but wrapped around Ginny he is prone to forgetfulness and isn't always the good friend he is meant to be.Really enjoying this....definately want to see the end.

I apologize for terrible American advertising. XD But, I'm glad you liked the chapter! More is coming, although, the "happy ending" doesn't really get there until the second part of this two-part monstrosity. LoL. Thanks for reviewing! -CC
OH, yes, a gentleman to the core and a snarky, sneering guy on the outside. Still, I loved the banter between them.
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Thanks! :D Glad you like them. It's hard writing funny dialogue, I've noticed.-CC
I just found this story yesterday and just finished it tonight. I love slow romances with flirting and innuendos. I'm glad that this entire part will be like that. Lots of times I see good stories affected when they throw Hermione and Severus into bed too quickly. I look forward to reading more.

Wow, I think we're the same person. XP I totally agree, and so I decided to make my readers suffer a lot of subtle flirting and/or awkward affections before we get to the lemonade. If. You. Know. What. I. Mean. LoL.Thanks for reviewing!-CC
Good story. Definately better than pringles (less calories too!).
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Yes, indeedy! Gee, if reading burned calories... Wouldn't THAT be fantastic! I'm happy you like it, so far. Thanks for reviewing!-CC
In spite of Ron's extreme idiocy in this story, he seems quite perceptive in this chapter. I think he has hit on something that Snape (and even Hermione) do not yet realize. However, I really can't see Snape letting any student get away with the disrespectful way Ron has been speaking to him. That's feels really OOC to me.
I liked the conversation between Hermione and Severus. It was very natural sounding considering the characters involved.
Next chapter! Next chapter! I'm hooked on this story :)
Love the interactions between the characters. You have a very nice style.
nice job - keep it up -
interesting use of the internal monologues again - really like your style -
thanks for sharing your work
Pringles, eh? I prefer Sunchips. You definitely can't stop at one. Very interesting conversation and realizations. I'm glad she corrected his thinking on her pitying him.

Totally true! And Bugles, if you've ever had the misfortune of buying a bag. You blink and they're gone! Glad you enjoyed ze chapter :D-CC
Oooooh! To be wearing his coat... "sage, lime, and something she could not quite pinpoint." How divine!I liked the way they bantered with each other. I believe their interest in one another has been declaired in ever so tiny steps. Brava!Another fine, fine chapter! Beth

Oh, I think I like you! LOL. Whenever I get a bad review or something, I know who to look for. I'm happy you liked this chapter, even though I know you went over to FF and read most of it! Naughty naughty. I'll have to get that next chapter in, just so I can get a shining review from braye! XD Thanks!-CC
*Offers up a fresh can of Pringles* It's the same for us readers, you know. Once you stop finish an update, you're reaching for another crisp and it's not there, WAH! I loved the banter between your Hermione and Severus ... I really enjoy the slower building stories like this one, where you can relish seeing their relationship evolving bit by bit and savor it like a Godiva truffle. Just as delectable, but nowhere near as fattening. Great update as always, I eagerly await the next!

Oh, I know what you mean! I swear I've been through almost all the lenghty SSHG stories on TPP and now I have to wait anxiously for updates in my email! LoL. It's great that reading's not terrible for you, besides the computer light burning into your retinas, or else I'd be a friggin' cow! Thanks for the review--tis appreciated.-CC
Mmm, I bet that coat smells delicious! I like sympathetic Snape and the teasing is hysterical--looking forward to the next update :)
I am simply wrapped up in the way you make them interact! Charming. It's sweet with a nice undertone of tension!! *hugs*

delicious update. i can just imagine snuggling down into his coat. *sigh* thanks so much
This is a really charming tale...angst included. I can't wait for more!
Lovely bit of banter. And the coat... delicious! :)
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Uh-huh! :D YUMMMMY Coat. Wow, that sounds really quite awkward! LoL. Thanks for the review--glad you like my story!-CC
At least she is talking about it. :)
Oh dear. I can quite understand Snape feeling guilty, even if he wasn't the one using the spell on this occasion. And his new realisation of his feelings for her certainly isn't lightening his burden of guilt.
I'm feeling sorry for both of them. At least they each now have a person to talk to.
Hmm, If he invented the spell, maybe he can reverse it as well? Nothing like ending your own self loathing than with a realization that you created the very spell that made her barren.
i can't even imagin wearing a backless ball gown in october in scotland...northern scotland! yikes! it shivers me timbers just thinking about it. i hope he'll do something gentlemanly. great update. thanks so much
