Hermione Granger returns to Hogwarts for a year of postwar schooling. When, supposedly, all is well for the Know-It-All, events from the past emerge and drama ensues. And where is Severus Snape in all of this? Right smack in the middle, of course! Amidst the turmoil of early adulthood and unrequited feelings, will Severus and Hermione learn to "seize the day"?
AU after HBP, some facts from DH. Mild student-teacher romance. Rated M for later dream sequences, etc. Features some non-explicit HG/DM.

Reviews for Carpe Diem, Part One
Wow good chapter, Ron can be an ass. I ne ver ever liked the thought of he and Hermione together.
Really like the growing slow
'friendship'. Really your doing a great job here.
Nice scene at the end.
Maybe Ron's not so dense after all lol
I love this story, but I'm not into the D/H. How much more of it are we going to have to read? I appreciated the moments between Severus and Hermione, but the picnic put me off a little. I hope something happens soon. Perhaps Severus's grandma will help him see "the light". Or Luna seems to know what's going on, maybe she'll help Hermione.
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
The next chapter is the only thing that has any DM/HG like this one. Probably even a bit less, just suggestive of more. I'm sorry that you're a little disappointed. Believe me, I couldn't understand why the hell I was channelling all of this Dracolove. I did warn, though, that SS and HG don't end up together in Part One. Part Two is COMPLETELY the two of them, and is much less frustrating. ;)
Hmm, I have to ask - is this going to go on, the Draco/Hermione part? I have no wish at all to read that particular pairing and though it's a great fic, I am finding myself skipping parts of the chapters which is unfair to you as it's good writing, but just not my cup of tea. I understand if you can't answer, just thought I'd ask because this now, no matter how good it was in regards to Sev, went way past my tolerance level for Draco/Hermione. Frankly, I wouldn't have started the story as it stands now, if I knew of the other relationship in it.
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
If it really bothers you that much, you can come back and read part two, which has no D/H in it at all. Purely HG/SS. :) I completely understand. It kind of surprised me that I started writing it. Anyway, there are only three chapters left in Part One, and only the next chapter contains any D/H of that nature. Not even that explicit. Probably no worse than this chapter. I'm glad you voiced your opinion, though! (I'm not offended.) Thanks for the review! -CC
I like this new improved Draco! :)
Well, poor Severus has lost it, and Draco doesn't quite know if he's got it yet.
ooo! what a great story! i can't wait to read more!
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Ooo! And you're lucky! I've only four more chapters to go and then on to Part Two (which is much shorter and fluffier). XD Thanks for the lovely review!
You could go on until an August wedding. The longer the better your story is brilliant. I love it. Thanks for sending the frylle's along with the update. They have made me happy, too.
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Haha. I thought it would drag on a bit too much to have the wedding over the summer, because I wanted to cover it in the story and the story really only happens over the school year. :) I'm so happy you like it. This chapter made me nervous because I know it looks like I let Ron off too easily... Eek. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the Frylles. Sometimes I think Luna just makes stuff up as an original compliment. ;D
The dresses are really lovely! It will be a lovely wedding party.I'm glad that Ron has come to realize how unreasonable and unkind his behavior had been. I'm not sure that I could have forgiven him as quickly as Hermione did, but I think it was a good thing that she could and they could put the entire thing behind them.I liked Draco's concern for her wellbeing and made sure that Ron understood that he did not want to see Hermione hurt again.I'm looking forward to watching how Hermione and Severus handle being together with Draco while they work on the special project. It should be very interesting.Severus will soon have to go to Provence to see his grandmother, and I know it will be difficult for him to lose her. If I recall, it is her wish that Severus inherit her estate. Perhaps he will think more about starting his own business and taking on an apprentice. Miss Granger, perhaps?I'm glad that Ron is keeping Hermione's secret... her attraction to Severus had been something he recognized at the beginning of the school year, after all. I can't help but wonder how she will fare at Harry and Ginny's wedding if Severus is able to attend.I was so happy to see this new chapter. It's a great story and I will be following along to see how it all works out. Of course, I want Severus and Hermione to be together, but I am curious about how you will manage this with all the complications that are going on in Severus and Hermione's lives. I have to hope you will find away.Beth
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
I swear either you are psychic or I am extremely predictable. Probably the latter, but... best not dwell on that. Anywho, I'm glad you're still following along and leaving these glowing reviews! I was a bit nervous with this chapter because I wasn't sure if I could get the right amount of groveling from Ron. Heh. Apparently not. But Hermione hasn't said "I forgive you", yet, so not all is lost, I suppose. REMEMBER! We must wait until Part Two comes along to see Ol' Sevvie and Herms together. Not too long a wait, though! Thanks, Beth -CC

You're not at all predictable! I'm just a nitpicking busybody that loves to go back into earlier chapters to find clues on what could be a possibility in future chapters... based on what I've just read in the latest chapter, of course. And you needn't worry about Ron's level of sorrow over his behavior in this chapter. I could understand how someone who was working very hard (Hermione) to get past a very sad episode, would choose to forgive. Now that I think about it, I done the same thing in my life. I see "forgiveness" as a gift I give myself... not having to live part of my mental and emotional life centered on bad memories... just looking to the future and moving on.Yes to Part Two! It had slipped my mind. *head desk*Here's a bouquet for you for writing such a fabulous story!
Great chapter with a good, tense cliff hanger. It was hard to read though because of some formatting issue however. The page had to be moved to the right to get the end of sentences.
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
I did look into the formatting thing, but it seems to be working on my computer. I dunno what to tell you otherwise; I hope it doesn't deter from any fanfic reading! ;) Thanks for reviewing! -CC
i guess ron just needed the love of a good huffelpuff! super update. thanks so much
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Super review! XD Thank you! I like Tommi more each time I write about her! Heh.
nicely done as per your usual!! Keep up the great job and cheers to goats and all they do for us!!
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Yayyyy for goats!
Sev is randy, Luna and Ron have it figured, Draco suspects, and Harry and Ginny are oblivious. That sum it up? :)
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Right on the nose, there. Harry and Ginny can't help themselves, though. Poor Harr' is needing some lovin' after all that crap with Voldy. They'll come around. Thanks for the review! -CC
It's been so long since I've gotten an update (I whine, from my cosy seat where I spend time reading instead of slaving over writing myself). Thank you for this, the story is great if I haven't said so already. I could use a few more chapters, though.... ;)
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Nice, juicy chapter comin' right up! *dings bell* Soon, I prooomise. XD Thanks for the shining review! -CC
Ah, those Slytherins. And I think Ron got let off a little to easily. But I do enjoy this story.
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Yeah, yeah. Our Hermione's not done with Ron, yet, I don't think. *wiggles fingers evilly* Muahahahha!
Not crazy about talk of Ron, LOL want more to happen with Severus and Hermione. I'm getting impatient, Great Job :)
oh, please! where do i get a bottle of that! beautifully written. thanks so much
I remember coming across this story when it was only two chapters, but somehow I neglected to bookmark it.
I'm glad I found it again.
The man is a lesson in beratement, isn't he? Lovely encounter, despite the guilty aftermath.
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Indeed he is. Tsk tsk. Thank you, though! I'm glad you enjoyed. ;D
Of course he feels guilty. It's Sev! :)
I thought this chapter was great. I was sampling your story, three chapters back, while looking for a new story to read. It was good, so I kept going for three chapters til the end. I'll start at the beginning now and read through properly. Hopefully you'll have a new chapter by the time I get to the end again. It won't take me long.
I'm really enjoying this story. One complaint, though: This chapter was too short! Really, I like the way you're working around the complications of teacher-lusting-after-student and introducing Draco into the mix. Perhaps two Slytherins might be truly interested in the Golden Gal Gryffindor? Boy, that could become deviously nasty!
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Indeed it could. Indeed it could. The chapters tend to be from 1,000-3,000 words. I stop writin' when the muse stops singin', you know? :) I'm glad you're enjoying the story! Thanks for reviewing,CC
I enjoyed the chapter. I didn't realize Severus was in a sex shop though. I thought he was in his chambers.
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
No, no LAST chappie he was in the sex shop. He's in his rooms. Maybe I didn't make that clear.... I'll go check. :)Thanks for reviewing!-CC
