Hermione Granger returns to Hogwarts for a year of postwar schooling. When, supposedly, all is well for the Know-It-All, events from the past emerge and drama ensues. And where is Severus Snape in all of this? Right smack in the middle, of course! Amidst the turmoil of early adulthood and unrequited feelings, will Severus and Hermione learn to "seize the day"?
AU after HBP, some facts from DH. Mild student-teacher romance. Rated M for later dream sequences, etc. Features some non-explicit HG/DM.

Reviews for Carpe Diem, Part One
Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Yet I am eagerly awaiting the next installment. Severus always has such a hard time of it.
Poor old Sev, just can't get an even break! :)
Oh lord, I loved his reaction to the journal. Really knows how to accept a gift, doesn't he?
I just know it was from Hermione.
Well... now that was a brilialnt turn, hadn't seen that one coming :) Whar a bittersweet development. Such a pity, that there will be a ...(from the two possibilities that come to mind I'm hoping very much it won't be the one I dont much like, but even if, I'll still read on, promise ;) ) detour from HG/SS. On the other hand, it's nice that there will be given more space to the development of their relationship. Oh, and - great chapter :) Hermione was sooooo good :) Had me laughig out loud, while I almost got worried about her myself :) Good job

Thanks so much! I was worrie because I've already recieved some threats to say that they might not be able to bring themselves to read if I pick certain people! I can tell you it's not Ron, if that helps any. I'm glad you liked the chapter, even if it's not such a good sign for their relationship. *sigh* I just HAD to put Ol' Sevvie through as much pain as possible. I'm so sadistic--the Potions master and I would be great friends. ;)Thanks for the review,CC

Heh, I wasn't worried about Ron - nothing pointed to him and the way you wrote Hermione, makes it impossible as well :)My two candidates are much more propable :) One of them, well... l won't be too thrilled about, but as it will be surely good written, I dont expect much trouble to "digest it" :) The other one, well, that would be interesting :) Either way, I'm looking foreward to next chapters ;)Plus, you sayed the story will be more SS-centric from now one and I'm very much looking foreward to that :) I just love to read about Severus's emotional strugels
wonderful!! What a great ride - but poor SS! CHristmas shopping seemed so promising - and now - but oh I can't wait to see the rest!
wow! i did not see that coming! our hermione, addicted. great stuff. thanks so much
Well, at least that's been dealt with! She can go ahead with a clearer mind, hopefully. It's a pity in a way that so much work has gone to waste, but if she were so inclined, she could always start anew in the future, with the proper precautions in place.
I'm a little wary of that hint.. it's not Draco, is it? Because I'm honestly not sure I can read on if she gets together with him, and that would be a pity as I do like this story a lot. Suppose I'll have to wait and see!
Hmm... well, at least he realized she was addicted and did something about it. Will there be lasting effects?
Can't wait to see where it goes now.
maybe I'm totally lost...but weren't the chapter titles in english before?
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Hmm... Perhaps...Damn, you caught me. XDYes, I just translated them into Portuguese. It was on a whim.
Wow, that was dramatic how it came out that she was actually just addicted to the potion in a mental capacity. I seriously didn't think that it was only the poition causing her personality changes. But this was still really cool. I'm kinda scared to see that the story is going to turn sour. It's relieving to know that they'll eventually get through the rotten stuff. <sigh> Keep those updates coming my way ConstantComment! Much Love ~ Brena
I like it! Nice twist! :)
Thank goodness Severus destroyed that potion! Even though she had been distraught at the idea that he might do something like that, I think she must now realize that that she is better off without its effects.I'm sorry that she believes all the feelings she has felt for Severus were not real, but I see from your author's note that their paths diverge for a while. I think I know with whom she will form a friendship (or maybe more), but I'm delighted to know that at some point she and Severus will be together. This chapter was wonderfully written, and I'm looking forward to your next update!Beth

I know! Our oh so level-headed Hermione was going a little psycho, for a while, but I'm thinking there might be a comeback pretty soon *cough*NEXT CHAPTERish*cough*...Who said that? Thanks for your glowing reviews! *blush*-CC
Hm...I suspect Hermione's feelings for Severus are real enough, and that by inhaling the fumes she essentially got the effect she was going for. The potion just made her recognize something that was there all along.
But good God, I hope you don't mean that Hermione will reunite with Ron ... he's such a callous bastard, I shudder to think how he'll treat her if he thinks he "won". I swear I will toss my cookies, ugh!
I don't mind a story that takes it's time in building relationships-- especially romances-- but, please, anyone, heck, anything but Won-Won Weasley!!!
Hang on, not real?!?! I think maybe they are. Well I hope they are, because Severus' are not a cause of the potion, judging by his reaction to her memories. Please Please make them get together soon!

Girl, you're gonna have to wait a little while. No student/teacher in this story! BUT (a little reminder to sooth your frazzled nerves) in Part Two, they go off to France for an apprenticeship and maybe... perhaps... a bit of romance. XDSorry I'm making you wait so long! But thanks for reading! -CC
where is the next chapter? *searches queue* The scene is interesting and I'm very curious if my suspisions will be confirmed :) So I hope the update takes place quickly :)Great sorry so far and I'm glad it's up to it again (last chapter was a bit disapionting - it had quite a rushed and "i need to get this done" feeling - if I am to be harsh ;) Sorry, but I have to, because I may disolve in praise soon and it will be so much better if you know I'm honest :D )
Response from ConstantComment (Author of Carpe Diem, Part One)
Well, I'm sorry you felt that way about last chapter. I wrote it about a year ago... but I can understand what you mean. Next chapter is supposedly first in queue, although I've seen eight stories published since I've been first in line.... Hmm. It's a conspiracy! They're out to get me! Thanks for reading! -CC

Definitly! :) Snape propably doesnt like where the story is heading (already read next chapter ;) ) and threatens them not to post it (in style of "If I shan't have...") ;)(Alas, *offers lemon drop* there is a perfectly sound reason for it. Do not worry youreslf, my dear. )
wonderful update! again, cc makes an appearance! thanks so much

couldn't resist another advertising opportunity! ;) happy that you're enjoying it. -CC
Hey there! I really appreciated the "Longer chapter than normal". It was really awesome. Plus your lemons rocked. I know you don't think you're amazing at them, but I've read a lot of lemons and these were very good. Especially with it being a dream-sequence. Very awesome update and I can't wait for chapter 16!!!! Much Love ~ Brena
Poor Hermione, it sounds like she's so obsessed with her secret potion that she's neglecting herself completely. What could be so important that she would not only let herself waste away and turn away from her friends, but also lose so much sleep that she doesn't have enough energy to focus on her studies. That's not like the swotty little know-it-all we know and love!
Could Hermione's potion possibly be an attempt to cure herself so she might be able to have children someday?
Great update, I am enjoying this story very much!
hmm.. getting more and more interesting :) Curious as to who/what is responsible for her dream, though I have my suspission :)
Hermione certainly seems like she would need some help in getting rest... wouldn't want her to waste away like this (even if it comes with dreams like these)!
I do wonder what Severus will have her do for detention... making her have dinner and a restful chat would be useful. ;-)
Oh, the poor thing needs some sleep. I hope Severus can come up with something to help her. I suppose that has a bit of double entendre, there, huh? Hee hee.
She cleaned and organized that should leave her with a credit come the next detention right?
Ron is certainly a pouty pants isnt he?
I think Snape should have taken some time after the final battle to find long winding trail of spontaneity too. It might have improved his mood?
I thought you did a great job! Lovely lemons!I'm as worried about Hermione as Severus and her other friends are. Perhaps Albus will be able to help Severus figure out what is happening to her. It would really help if Ginny talked to Minerva... but not even Ginny knows all that's going on in her mind. Some of the ingredients she is using in the "special" potion she is brewing in the cupboard are dangerous, and I'm afraid that she is suffering their ill effects. I'm just thinking.A really nice chapter you've got here! Keep up the good work.Beth
