I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.
Admins' Note: Livvy6 died suddenly on February 22, 2012, leaving behind her husband, six-year-old daughter, and seventeen stories well-loved by the TPP community. All who knew her—including those in Harry Potter fandom and all of us, here—are richer for having known her.
Requiescat in pace, Livvy. Always.

Go Ginny!Once more, I congratulate you on a brilliantly written chapter. This topic could so easily get out off hands and become 'too much', but you handle it in a great way. As a reader, I get sucked into the emotions of your characters, and I can almost see the scenes before me. You are doing a most wonderful job. You are truly gifted.Thank you very much for sharing this with us all. /M

Thanks! There is a reason for Ginny's rage, it will come out soon. I'm glad it came across plausible for you. Each chapter became harder and harder to write. I'm glad you liked it.Thank you for reviewing!Livvy

Yes, it is all going to come out and more than anyone ever thought was going on. Severus will also have to stop running from how he truly feels. Thanks,Livvy

Very frightening, but in a good way. This story brings up so many real emotions, it's amazing. Ginny Weasley kicks ass! I feel bad for Severus though, and found it interesting that he went off to soothe himself with yet another dangerous vice.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Longing)
LOL! Too true. Snape has a great deal to think about and emotions like love, trust, and feeling secure are not ones he is comfortable with. I do feel sorry for Severus, but at the same time he deserves it.Thanks!Livvy

That was intense! I'm glad she was found and Severus was able to cure her wounds. I was a bit surprised at Ginny's insight and ire. Snape deserved a good yelling at, though. I can't help but feel a teensy weensy bit sorry for him. He was trying to shield himself, but managed to screw Hermione up royally. But as we have discussed before, he's not entirely to blame. Hermione definitely needs to see some good in herself before she can deal with negative comments from others.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Longing)
Very true. There is a reason as to Ginny's rage and anger, which will be revealed. Snape will be put through the ringer before this is all over. Thanks,Livvy

Once again great writing. It certainly gave Severus something to pause and think on. I found Poppy perhaps a tad hysterical, but then there has to be someone to be outraged at his physical proximity to Hermione. It was interesting that you used Poppy for that role rather than Minerva. But then it mixes things up a bit - Hmmm. maybe she was jealous that he was treating her so effectively and there was residual guilt and embarassment at not fully examining Hermione at the previous opportunity. It will be interesting to so the reactions, interactions and fallout once the truth is out and she returs to school life.I really don't think Severus realises what a formidable foe he has made in Ginny: She has him squarely pegged (He He!). I also like the way you have him thinking of her at this point (sunshine/unsullied) and also realising that the physical scars may be healed but the emotional scars will last far longer. Thanks once agian and I look forward to the next chapter/s

Oh, yes, Severus is quite unaware of what is going behind the scenes with Ginny. She is raging and this is not the last we'll see of her wrath. Thanks for reviewing!Livvy

Ugh! Don't just leave us hanging there! Why must you end the chapter with a cliffy? All I have to say is "It's about damn time Snape started to feel some guilt!" He has been an unrelenting bastard and he deserves Ginny's wrath and so much more.I'm glad Hermione was found and superficially healed (even if it was by Snape). I look forward to your next update to see how her internal healing will commence.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Longing)
It's going to be out-of-control, and Ginny is on the warpath. Although there is a reason behind all her anger and rage that I can't tell you yet. I thought it was only right for Snape to see the damage he caused and to heal her. Thanks for reviewing!Livvy

Okay. Thank you for Ginny in this. I love Severus, as always, but he needs to realize the depths to which he has hurt Hermione, and Ginny in all of her harsh words will help him see that he is to blame. And he needs to be the one to help Hermione. The problem is-- Severus has very little experience being kind. He lashes out (like he did at everyone else in this chapter)-- so I am curious as to how you will soften him, so to speak. The last part of the chapter was the most moving. Really gave us a different side of Severus. He does realize that he is to blame, and how he handles it will determine just what sort of person he really is. I have faith though, Livvy, that you will make it all better. Excellent job. ~kizzy

Thanks you Severus will have to be broken down in order to make him become worthy of Hermione. There will be a lot of pride he will have to lose to do this, but it will happen. Thanks!Livvy

Wow,awesome cliffy. I think this has to be your best work to date.Psycologically Hermione is a total mess, her norms are all skewed, which is how a lot of 'intelligent' victims manage to 'not' cope with the after effects of trauma! Being so young and still pretty naive, she wouldn't process that as a possibility, and doesn't realise that she desperately needs help. I can't wait to see how you resolve this fic!?Well done for tackling such a difficult subject matter, self-harming happens, and the victims are rarely recognised quickly enough to prevent scarring not just on their bodies. It is a sign of societys failure to protect the innocent.*pats your back*Great.

Thank you so much! There is a lot to do to resolve this. Snape has been so horrible and she is so confused. Thanks for your compliments and for reviewing,Livvy

I don't worry that you will kill her. But, I do worry that you will turn this disturbing and well researched situation into a happily ever after, with Snape no less. I don't think such a deep problem can be solved easily. I don't think it is enough that she learns that Snape does lie. And, above all, I don't think she can find happiness with him any more than she might have with her rapist.
Spoil sport, am I? Well, just so you know not every happy ending is welcome.

I respect your thoughts and if I could e-mail you privately, I can let you in on somethings that I don't want everyone to know yet. Even if after all of this, you still don't like it, I completely respect your opinion. Don't feel bad for expressing to me that this may not be your cup of tea. Thanks for being honest and still respecting my right to tell stories how I like to.Thanks,Livvy

Of course you have the right to tell the story as you like. It would not exist otherwise. No need to tell me any secrets. I can wait with everybody else. And I will read it through, no doubt about that. I like happy endings very much, but I need to believe them first.
Maybe you can work a miracle after all ;-)

This story is really good so far. I understand Hermiones' reasons for cutting. To her, the pain is a release of her pent up emotions. I wouldn't have thought at first that the reason Severus is so cruel to her is because he's trying to hide his feelings from everyone, including himself. Of course, he has no idea the damage he has done to Hermione's mind, until she is found. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

wow, I can't even begin to express how good that was, It was disturbing, but it is what would happen if you did a lot of cutting at once, especially if you lose a lot of blood and cut deep. I can't wait to read the next chapter.

I know I really can't relate, but this story really touches me. It makes sense that after what she went through and how she's being treated that she would resort to such an action. Its nice to see what Severus is thinking and why he's acting this way. I'm glad that you put the A/N in there that she will be found. Not only was it an evil cliffe but I'd love for someone else to know what she's going through and at least give her someone to talk to. I noticed that chapter 5 is in the queue already and I'm really anxious to see what happens next. Thanks for the wonderful story. ~

How adversely did she react? Gotta know now! Ugh, your Severus is so disgusting. I know there are ulterior motives and the like, I just don't like him. Hopefully he'll get some redeeming quailities soon? His actions have hurt Hermione in a way that will be very difficult to overcome.Again, my heart goes out to Hermione. Unfortunately, your statement at the beginning of this chapter is true. Too many smart people fall victim to the abuse of many types of addiction, this being one. It always points to a far greater problem, as you have so well illustrated in this story. Nicely done.

I feel sorry for Severus. Men are visual creatures so he reacted to what he saw and now feels guilty because of it. Because he feels guilty he is lashing out at Hermione who is taking his words to heart and is cutting. A very tangled web to be sure.Loved the chapter, there is a lot of emotion and concern flowing through it.

Oh my I just got to read chapters 3 & 4 as I was away for a few days, how sad that Hermione has to suffer for something that she has no idea about. Severus must realize his feelings for her on one hand may be wrong because she is his student, but on the other hand an attracton is not because she is of age. He needs to see that he is hurting her by taking out his own guilt on her. Hermione must also help her self by talk to someone about her feelings after the attack on her and Severuses verbal abuse of her. What a mess, but I am sure you have the perfect way to fix it. Can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter, I wonder who will find her, and the reaction of Severus when he learns what she has cut on her body. Update soon please.
