I am a longtime fanfic fanatic, having entered the realm via Buffydom. One day I read a Willow/Severus crossover and I was hooked – on Snape that is! He's been in every HP story I've done so far.
I write in multiple fandoms on LJ, esp. BtVS and Firefly. If you're interested in reading my fic for other/crossover fandoms, it can be found at:

My My My My My - thank you for having him take the rebuff like an adult. It was wrong of him to try to begin something the very night she broke her engagement, but he realized it almost at once when she objected and backed down like a man. *nods in approval of Severus*Lovely story, my dear.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter and the characterization of Severus. Yes - (laughs) - I thought I'd let him grow up a bit!
Enjoying this very much! More soon, hopefully with Hermione back up on a ladder...or in a bed, or anywhere Snape can tackle her!~HR
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter! Next up - SS's take on things!
“My dear, Minerva. That is simply because you do not eavesdrop when I speak of you.”The perfect mixture of being charming and ironic. That's the kind of Snape I like.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter and Severus here! I love that line, too - the sly devil whispered it right into my mental ear!
Bad Severus, you shouldn't have done that! Not that soon. He's been so smooth, so cool! Oh well, when you want it, you want it NOW. Mom and Dad will work with her and get her all calm and after a couple of days (or the next chapter) they can then talk and figure out where their feelings are (at least Hermoine's; we know where Severus' are). Dear God, this story is so good it's like it's real...*slaps face gently*.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter! Yes, he's smooth - but remember the front hallway at Tonks's and the corridor at Hogwarts - he's not always patient. (grins)
I'm glad you find the story realistic - that means a lot!
Response from sregner (Reviewer)
I just read Rung 20...and then I read some of the other responses. Please...oh...please make both of them happy (and your readers) and have them realise that they need each other and boy will get the girl (and visey-versy) and live "happily ever after" *sighs* or not ;-) Fantastic Story!
Hooray for another great chapter!((((virtual chocolate))))
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! (nibbles yummy chocolate)
Oh, I love this fic so much. It's such a wonderful read, with these alternating her-his-sides.
Poor Severus, he got carried away. But I'm more than glad that Hermione did stop the encounter - it's truly too soon, after she said her good bye to Ron.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you're enjoying the story and the alternating POVs! Poor SS - but you're right, it's much to soon for HG.
Or do you want both? ::hands you chocolate::Good chapter, I was worried when Sev started putting the moves on her but I don't think she took real offense. ;) Her mum and dad will make her feel better and then she'll be all ready for some hawt shagging with Severus Snape, right? Right?! XD
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! (nibbles chocolate) Who am I to say no?
I'm so glad you liked the chapter and HG's decision even though you'd like to see hawt shagging! (grins)
I love how you made Severus understanding, but no less upset. I also love how you wanted Hermione to wait so that Severus would never be a mistake. At least she has learned something from her relationship with Ron. I look forward to another chapter.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter! It's so good to hear that you liked the bit about her not wanting to repeat the mistakes she made with Ron. Thanks as well for the note on his characterization!
Still going great, but my Severus is a bit pushy isn't he? He should Push harder soon....lol
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter! Yes - he was being a bit much! (grins)
'...Severus – I hope you understand. I don’t ever want you to be a mistake.'
I almost wish she had said these two lines out loud to Severus, so he would know where her mind/heart was. But, on the other hand, if she had said them out loud and he isn't playing fair, he might use them to his advantage. [Not that Severus would ever not play fair!]
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter!
You've not only hit on two of the most important lines in the whole chapter, you've also noticed that she only thinks them! He probably would understand more if she spoke them, but I agree with you - how could she know if it were safe to do so?
Oh bless! He's Struggling too!
Good move on Hermione's part by waiting until she is ready. I hope she doesn't sting Severus along for too long. I don't think he knows how to handle it!
Another fantastic chapter! I can't wait to read it from Sevs point of view.
Mandy.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked the chapter and HG's decision. SS's thought are up next!
Somehow I knew something like this would happen. But Hermione does need time, it wouldn't be like her to jump straight into another relationship. But I hope that she doesn't need long... and that Severus exercises patience as he says he will.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter and found HG's actions to be reasonable! As for the rest of your points - I don't want to spoil anything, so please keep reading!
I do agree with Hermione, it wouldn't have felt right to just finish the night in Severus's arms just after her break up with Ron. Rushing to her parents was the right thing to do. But she must give an answer to Severus soon, the man has waited for her for a year. I don't know if that many men would do the same!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter! I agree - it would have been way too soon for HG. Now, SS may have been pushing it a bit on the year thing - he is a Slytherin still!
Perfect! I love how you have Severus jumping the gun, I am so eager to read his take on this scene.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked it and the fact that Severus tried to rush things! His chapter soon!
Awwwwww. I agree, though, that was WAY too fast. It would have seemed like a total rebound bang, and even though Snape's probably never been the rebound boyfriend, it wasn't right. Good job!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter and the fact that she didn't rebound with him!
Perfection. She didn't rush into anything, and he is making an effort to be patient.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter! Yes, rushing would be a repetition of past mistakes. You're right - he's trying to be patient.
Oh I hope she decides to give him try, great chapter, can't wait for his take.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! His take on things next!
Ilove it. It's in my favorites. Me=huge severus/hermione fan. Can't wait for moremarti
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you're enjoying the story! More soon.
So sad. But Hermione is right, and I'm glad to see that your characterisation is so consistent. Yay for you. I'm also glad, though, that Severus got a *teeny* taste. The trembling was quite moving and unexpected; I suspect he genuinely loves her.
Also intriguing is how Hermione is so multifaceted here. We see the mature researcher/professor, we see the confused but strong girlfriend breaking up with the wrong guy; we see the off-kilter, excited woman when she's with Severus, and the girl who needs her parents. Yay.
I do hope you will update soon! Thank you for cheering up a rather bleh day.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter and my characterizations! Thanks for letting me know you can see layers in HG - the only thing I'm probably thinking of differently is that for me her turn to her parents is a turn to family and support instead of being a girl again.
I'm glad I cheered up your day!!!
Hmm. Well an understanding Snape. That's interesting. I hope his feelings aren't too badly hurt and that he'll keep his word to wait. I can totally understand where Hermione is coming from though.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! Up next - what SS was actually thinking!
Wow! Very strong chapter, intimate and intense with untold emotions. I even stopped reading, fearing a horrible scene by Snape, full of snarkiness and cruel words. But it didn't happen, which i found refreshing come to think about it. He responded with a more measured, adult reaction. Not everyone flies off the handle when confronted with a certain measure of frustration. Good, good... as always, Ubiquirk. :)Eager to see what Severus thinks about it. Soon? Cheers!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked the chapter! Interesting insights on SS - I've been trying to let him grow up a bit emotionally - but he may not be fully there yet. His thoughts next!
I love how awkward she feels about having to blow her nose, "trying to remove the most liquid possible with the smallest sound." I don’t ever want you to be a mistake.
That is such a compelling line. Nicely done, as always!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter! I put the crying consequences in for a touch of reality - I never consider myself to be a beautiful cryer.
Glad you liked the line - I agree that I thought it an important one!
wow. Touching chapter for both of them!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm so glad you liked it and found it touching!
Oh poor SS. I hope he hangs in there. Great chapter.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter! Yes, poor Severus, but I think he was a bit unrealistic.
Ughh, the tension is killing me! Brilliant chapter. Snape needs to realize the timing was wrong...he wants to show her he has feelings for her beyond that moment they shared (and we desperately want to see how those feelings transpire...ahem) but she needs some space! Not just for emotional reasons, but for the fact that she will look bad and as though she was cheating the entire time on Ron.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Ladder)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked the chapter and found the pacing of events believable! You're right - it's much to soon!
