Thanks! I think he knows tht he hurt her deeply. Right now, he's just trying to get her to see why he behaved like he did... wanting to give her a better understanding of him. In a way, it's like a child who says I'm sorry and expects that to make it better. Glad you're liking it so far.

Yes, he knows that he hurt her, but I'm reading him as understanding this more on an intellectual level than on an emotional one.  He seems to experience his own emotions quite well, but he lacks true empathy.  However, that's a skill he can improve on with practice.  In his case, constant practice.  BTW:  I completely agree with Sampdoria's comment.One more thing--I should have commented on this in the appropriate chapter--the scene where Severus more-or-less calls Hermione a whore was incredibly power.  You wrote of her rubbing her chest and physically feeling the pain in her heart.  You did a great job writing that.  As I read that scene, you made me feel the same thing right along with her!  Upsetting as all get-up, and fantastic writing.  We don't always read fiction for pleasure, but for intensity and experiencing another's life.  You certainly make us live it.  Love it!!!  Now where's the chocolate?

IMHO, we have no idea how he would act in an adult relationship.Honestly, I couldn't imagine the Snape I had pictured in my mind loving one woman who basically left him for another man (that was no longer living, no less) all of his life. When I get the image of him at Gryffindor, begging her to see him, that is not 'OCC' to the git Snape Harry paints for us. That is a very love-sick Snape. And then there's the crying... LOL Anyway!
