Hermione, Ginny and Luna, sharing a girl moment, decide to cast a Pairing-Plight Troth Charm on themselves for fun. Each placed in the cauldron one yesterday-today-and-tomorrow flower with sugar and spice and everything nice, and a snip, a snail and puppy-dog tail as they each said the rhyme. For Ginny, the results are exactly what she expected, and for Luna, she was only mildly surprised. However, for Hermione, the results were disastrous! She thought she’d be paired to Ron and live happily ever after. So what happened and why is she seeing Professor Snape in her dreams? He’s dead – isn’t he?

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

Happy sigh. I think this is either the third or the fourth time that I've read this story. I'm not a regular at TPP, but every so often I'll be reminded by either an online conversation or in this case the sshg quiz on LJ and I'll come back to rediscover it. What's wonderful is that every time it's just a little bit longer than it was the time before. Thank you for keeping going with this. I know that the latest chapters have far fewer reviews than the early ones did, but I'm sure that's just because TPP doesn't issue update notices and that people will do what I've done here, and come back to check up on your progress whenever something reminds them. Your perseverence is greatly appreciated.

Yes, i was quite happily surprised to see my story as one of the choices on the quiz. $ times - wow, I'm flattered. I'm delighted that you enjoy it and keep coming back, thank you. If you click on [add/update bookmark] then you do get a update notice in your email (as long as the email you have on your bio is still good) Yes, I'm still going. I have two more to have betaed and then I can submit them. Thank you for reading and for the review.
Response from TalesOfSnape (Reviewer)
Oooh! Thanks so much for the tip. I suspect that now I know that I might use TPP a lot more. Marker now added for this fic, so I look forward to hearing when your next chapter clears the vetting process.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Isn't that a handy tip! I use it all the time. And if you use click on 'Not Read' at the top of each chapter, it makes a little check so you know where you left off reading. Like a bookmark. Hopefully I'll have another chapter in queue soon. Hugs

Loving the progress in Hermione and Severus's relationship! Can't wait for more! Excellent job. Really liked the different reactions in proposals. :)

Yeehaw! Weddings are on the horizon, and I couldn't be happier. Although I must say that I liked Severus' proposal better. “Will. You. Be. My. Wife,” he said each word as he plunged into her. The bloodstone and diamond ring was special on so many levels: Slytherin and Gryffindor and Life and Blood.I felt bad for Ron when he said Amelia had already gone home. I guess she could see the writing on the wall, and decided to cut her losses.Harry's and Ginny's gift to Molly and Arthur was an especially touching moment. I'm glad they will have a home of their own again after losing the Burrow. It was the right thing to do. But I wonder what decision Kreacher will make about whether he will stay with Mr and Mrs Weasley or go with Harry and Ginny.Thank you for this Happy Christmas chapter!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
I'm so glad I made you happy! and that you liked the ring. Yep, Ron's love life is not all he'd hope, but i'll fix it eventually. Since Harry now has two houses, I thought that making Grimmauld Place a Weasley house was a good idea. I haven't descided what Kreacher's answer is. But i"m glad that you liked the gifts. You are most welcome for the chappy and I'm delighted that you enjoyed it. Thank you for reading and for the review.

And will they get married on the same day? That could be fun seeing Severus trying to make his voice heard over Molly's...

The image of Severus ogling Hermione as she reached to the pile of gifts was quite fun and funny. I loved that she was (deliberately?) obtuse as to the meaning of an empty box. (What an odd way to propose! LOL) And then, for him to finally actually ASK her when he's balls-deep? Also fun and funny. I mean, what will they tell their children? :D (In case you can't tell, I loved the chapter!)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the scene. Yep, ogling... why not? and yes, she was deliberately being obtuse. lol I suppose the "I asked her at Christmas," would be his responce to his kids. I doubt that she'd elaborate beyond "at first he gave me this empty box; silly really, but sweet..." I'm delighted that you enjoyed this chapter. Thank you so much for sticking with me on this one,and for the review.

welll that was lovely and nobody got hurt lol, i dont know but rons not acting right should we be worried about him? and her parents wow that could get messy thank you for the update.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
No, no animals were harmed in the making of this... although one wardrobe got some action!Ron, he's still hurting, trying to find a 'Hermione replacement' knowing that he lost someone really exceptional and good, but in time he'll be okay. He is just trying too hard to find the wrong thing. He'll be fine, I'll see to that. Her Parents? Well, yes, but I've worked it out what happens. In the long run... You know it will be all right, and be a good Severus/Hermione moment, show his stuff and how much he cares for her. I hope you like how I handle it.Thank you for sticking with me and for the review. happy reading.

Fantastic update, I am so happy Hermione said yes to the proposal, she has at times been annoyingly slow on the uptake with regards to her relationship with Severus (not that he was the easiest one to commit to at the start:-)Loved it, thank you for the update.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. No he wasn't the easiest and was down right mean in the beginning, but things are shaping up. I've a obsticle or two to sort them through, and things should go better... jealousy and the fact he does things without telling her or asking her... he did move all her stuff after all... You'll see. Sorry about her being an annoying teen, but she's had to grow up some here too. Thank you for reading and for the review.

I'm glad they're finally engaged - YAY!!!Poor Kreacher. You described him well, terrified that he was being uprooted and punished for displeasing Harry. I hope he is happy and well treated where he ends up. Thank you for updating!

Another fantastic chapter! Why do I have the suspicion that muffling only covers the wall shared by Harry and Ginny's room?Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

I really like how well Severus is getting on with Harry -- that he's starting to see that although he is physically similar to his father, he's more like his mother in personality. And Severus. He's so insecure. Poor thing. (Although sendin Hermione into a petit mort may bring a certain amount of self confidence, LOL)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
AntieL, I really like the suggestion - made me laugh. lol Yes, Severus is trying to tollerate Harry, cuz like Ginny said, he's part of the package, and yes, he's a lot like his mum. Yes, Severus is insecure and this New Years at Malfoy manor will be... interesting. I hope you like it. Thank you for reading, and for the giggle, and for the review. Hugs~

Ginny is a perfect diplomat and friend -- she has learned to detect Severus's moods and thoughts, and used her abilities to avert disaster. Well done, Ginny! And good work on averting disaster with that nasty package; I hope the sender can be identified.Glad that Severus and Hermione had a good celebration together. Thanks for updating!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
I hope to bring Hermione around to be as good a Severus reader as Gin is. That's one goal. But yes, she's a good friend to them both. The package, haven't identified the sender yet. Thank you for reading and for the review.

Dark Lord’s Black-Acid Smoke must be incredibly unpredictable if even he actually preferred using Fiendfyre. Who on earth could have made it and sent it to Ginny? Since Rabastan Lestrange is still on the loose, it seems logical that he would be the guilty party, but if he isn't the one, then who could it be? It appears that the Wizarding World will be continually dealing with one bad ass or another who was among the DL's minions. Hummmm. Malfoys, Crabbes, Lestranges, Rowles, Mulcibers. I suppose there could be still some members of those families still alive.I am so glad that Ginny knew what had happened between Hermione and her brother in the hallway and was able to head off Severus' bad mood. He always seems to "react" first and find out what really happened later. At least he had the good sense to step outside and calm down– and give Ginny time to tell him what had actually occurred. A crisis was averted and lovely lemons ensued. Woo hoo!(I swear, Severus Snape is sex-on-legs!)From the various conversations that were shared tonight, I believe that both Hermione and Ginny are going to be swept away with their presents Christmas morning:•Hermione fastened her earring on and stood to face her friend. “I have a feeling your Christmas is going to sparkle, Gin.”•“So when do you plan on giving it to her?” Ginny asked... He turned to face her. “I had hoped to do so tomorrow morning.”I can't wait to see all the gift-giving tomorrow morning. Thanks for such a lovely chapter, Bea, and for the new mystery concerning the Dark Lord’s Black-Acid Smoke.Beth

Hi, brayer,
I think it would be easier to control fire than smoke, and the Black-Acidic Smoke tends to fan out, plume and waft even in a subtle breeze, it’s really dangerous and not easy to control. Good guessing on who done it, but Severus is discounting Lestrange as the one.
Yes, Severus went outside, more to escape everyone and fume than to calm down. I’m glad that you liked that bit between Ginny and Severus – and the lemons.
I hope you enjoy what’s coming next. I’m excited to show it to you. Hope it goes through queue quickly when I post it.

What a lovely chapter. You describe the detail of your setting in such an amazing way. They certainly had a grand Christmas Eve. I hope we will hear about cocktails with Neville.

I'm glad they're having a nice Christmas without drama, and hope the house-elves liked their gifts. The elves get to eat Christmas dinner too, yes? Mr Prince seems to be improving; perhaps he'll become active again. Thank you for updating!

I'm sure the left overs are eaten as left overs at Harry's. Mr Prince, possibly. or he too may have the leftovers served as creatively disguised leftovers - them crafty house-elves. Who knows what Dustin could do with them. Thank you for reading and for the review.

An enjoyable update. Isn't it amazing the amount of food the upper-class Victorians served for Christmas and other events? I don't know about the quantify, but the variety was simply astounding. The poor kitchen and serving staff!Hermione seems to be having an increasingly close relationship with Mispy and has learned to take it easy on the poor house elves who don't know her well. They're a skittish bunch.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Hello, sweetie. I'm glad that you like the update. I know the food! I hope the servings porportions were small. Yes, she is getting along with Mispy, but then I'd like to think she understands house-elves a bit better now. Thank you for reading and for the review.

I was delighted that Mispy cleaned and beautifully repaired Hermione's beaded bag. I've always thought that was one of the cleverest "creations" JKR thought of. Wish I had one of my own. 8^)Severus' and Hermione's visit with Mr. Prince was everything I hoped it would be. The sentiments behind the gift of the silver quaiche was not lost and Mr. Prince, nor was the meaning behind the gifts he gave them. The family jewelry he gave to Hermione spoke louder than words that he was especially fond of her and thought of her as family. And the books he gave Severus were very precious and provided a nice segue to the subject of their getting married. “End of June then,” Mr. Prince asked with a smile. “‘Bout time, too." I love it! I am dying to know the story behind Severus' memories of his mother reading the children's books to him at Prince Manor. I find it more than interesting that he did not recall being read them anywhere but in Havenhold. There has got to be a good story behind this revelation.I also like what Harry and Ginny have done with Grimmauld Place. It sounds so much nicer than the house was when he inherited it from Sirius. Having to eat a second Christmas Day meal made me groan. I have a feeling that George's special "gifts" to Severus will come in handy at some point. Now if they can just get through the evening at the Longbottom's home, I think they'll be okay. Thank you for the very special peek into Severus' childhood, and I hope you'll let us see more.Beth

I rather liked the little bag myself, but thought hmmm, what if, and it was a very sweet gesture on Mispy’s part to repair it so carefully. The little bags are for sale in Diagon Alley in the Pansy’s two doors down from the candle shop. Sells for $10 Galleons and up depending on the Expansion Charm.
I’m so glad that you liked the bits with Mr. Prince. Yes, the gifts were carefully considered and you, as per usual, caught the meanings I intended.
The story behind the childrens books: Severus remembers only a few trips to the Prince house, but those trips were when he was a little older. [Deidre(Severus’ grandmother) read them to Eileen before she died, and Delphinia(Severus’ great-grandmother) read them to Eileen after her mum(Deidre) died. – this part is not in the story] Deidre died when Eileen was a little girl – Severus never knew her – hence Severus’ thoughts about the ‘woman in the picture with the toddler and the baby’ when he was looking at the pictures/photographs in the parlor. The mystery baby turned out to be Charles Prince, remember?
Not in the story but hinted at: Now when Severus was a very little, possibly a toddler, Delphinia (or his mum) may have read them to him on his infrequent visits to Prince House. However, because of Edgar’s(Severus’ grandfather) disapproval of Tobias Snape, the visits stopped, and Severus, since he was so small, forgot the early visits. – thus Severus’ confusion about the books.
However, his mum loved the stories, memorized them as a little girl, and use to read/recite the stories to Severus when she could. (Probably verbally since he thought his mum had made them up.) And of course when Severus was older, Delphinia would have thought it odd to read children’s stories to a teenage boy, so the book remained among her things. But the old woman kept the childrens books just in case… someday… Delphinia may have been a strict, proper, rigid woman, but she had a good heart. And loved her goats and her garden, especially the peonies.
Does that fill in the gaps? It’s all implied and hinted at if you caught the bits about the ‘times’ Severus was at Prince House.
There is a reason behind the changes in Grimmauld Place, and it’s cuz’ it’s now fit to have a family live there, and… well, you’ll see.
I’m glad that you liked the chapter. Thank you for reading and for the review.
