Hermione, Ginny and Luna, sharing a girl moment, decide to cast a Pairing-Plight Troth Charm on themselves for fun. Each placed in the cauldron one yesterday-today-and-tomorrow flower with sugar and spice and everything nice, and a snip, a snail and puppy-dog tail as they each said the rhyme. For Ginny, the results are exactly what she expected, and for Luna, she was only mildly surprised. However, for Hermione, the results were disastrous! She thought she’d be paired to Ron and live happily ever after. So what happened and why is she seeing Professor Snape in her dreams? He’s dead – isn’t he?

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov

Good research for your story! I am really enjoying this one. I'm so glad you've kept updating it! I enjoy these challenge pieces. I like seeing what different people do with the same prompt. I liked this one from the start.I think you've done a good job keeping Snape in character. He isn't a nice fellow, one who is all hearts and flowers and poetry.

Thank you very much. I really wanted someplace real, Muggle and possible for Severus to have liked as a kid. No, Severus is the kind that if he sent her flowers they'd be practical - like a potion ingerdient or a Venus fly trap! Poetry would be a ancient Charms book of spells, or myths and ledgends... and candy? Yeah right. Like he'd buy her chocolate hearts! Godiva on the other hand - but that's too expensive. He'd rather send her a scarf - in green. Thanks, I'm really trying to keep him in character. I'm so glad to be told I'm doing well so far.Oh, I'm updating. I'm so glad you are enjoying the story. It is really fun to do. Thank you for the review.

Oh, I just love it!!! I was practically giddy when I saw the update! At least some things got sorted out, and after she calms down Hermione'll probably realise how much personal info he shared on this outing and what a big step that was for him... Severus is going to have to learn that his wife does get some say in how his wife gets treated! The fact that he got so furious at her demands is not that big of a surprise, that he was mad even though he agreed with some/most of her issues kinda made me want to shake him! At least Lucius is there to be a voice of reason when Severus needs it... (Does that sound odd, or is it just me?) Now he needs to go talk to his other 'voice of reason', and ask Minerva about the legalities involved since he has decided to be Headmaster while his wife is still a student... ...and hopefully he'll drop the idea of magically increasing the Bond, as he doesn't need any unexpected side-effects to come up while they're trying to get settled at Hogwarts...Do wonder too when someone is going to notice the changes to his (father's) house... I really have such a good time reading all of your fics! Way too much fun, probably! Looking forward to the next!

Thank you very much. I love all the icons in the review. They're fun.Hermione will have to have a day to reflect on that, or come to realize it, yes. and yes, it was a huge step for him.Sev's reaction was so on, I was really happy with it. At least he agreed. Yes, he has Lucuis as his voice of reason and no, I am still wondering why he's decided that supporting Sev Bonded to Hermione is a good thing, besides the fact that it cannot be reversed. In regards to the increasing Bond issue... well... You know he will.Notice the changes to his home - soon.Thank you so much for the compliment, I'm really flattered. I'll update as soon as I can. Thank you again.

Well, he made some effort this time, but still has to figure out how to communicate better with her. In spite of the fact that I'm obviously rooting for them to work out their differences and get together, I liked what you did with this chapter. It's far more believable that they would have a misunderstanding and get in an argument, than that they would just work everything out in one evening and live happily ever after.Looking forward to more soon.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yes, he made a lot of effort, it just went south when he lost his temper - they lost their tempers. LOL I really appreciate the compliment. I know it was a bit rough, but it is moving in the right direction - I promise. If I had it work our all roses and no thorns - you'd wonder who this Severus was! I do click on 'romance' in the genere box! I'll get there, I promise. Oh, Harry's Birthday is next!!

aaack! well, this chapter started off so promising, with severus trying to behave himself. if he could just have managed to tell hermione nicely that he didn't want the anullment, things would have turned out SO MUCH BETTER. i thought the way you handled their conversation going south was very well done. but, oh well. maybe next time!
btw, i found a few little things that seem to have slipped through the net: "Piece, solitude and a few good books." i think "peace," right? "he wants [to] see me every night" and "refused to move [in] with him." (if it was me, i'd want to know, but if you'd rather i keep my mouth shut in the future, just say so and i can do that.) : )

I know that I could have made it be all mature and have a nice hammer-it-out discussion - but somehow, Severus got riled up as I typed, Hermione got frustrated and pissed off and *BOOM* they got into it! I was merely typing away as they dictated. Teehehe But didn't he plan anice evening, I mean he actually did think this thrugh, picking a place that meant something to him. Thank you for the compliment and the typo hunting. You can always email me or drop me a line if you run across more. I went in and fixed them. So hopefully - no more typos! Thank you for the review.

Wonderful chapter, I want to go back and read some of the earlier chapters to see if I can guess where this will head. Does he realize why she doesn't want to go back to the Malfoys'?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. By all means, and ask questions if you have any. I'll answer you, well I try to answer all of them. No, he hasn't asked why yet, he just assumes. Until lately, he's been a bit self-absorbed. Thank you for the review. I hope you enjoy reading the rest of it.

He deserved that, actually. I wonder when he is going to actually try to play nice. I'm enjoying the story.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
He tried, a little. Give the guy a break - he's never been nice to her. Not really. Okay, lame excuse, but he did at least put some effort into the date. He just lost his cool - again, with her. But it's a start. Thank you for the review.

Boy, Howdy, that was some chapter! Do I detect a little softening of Severus' attitude about the Bonding? It sure seemed as if he's beginning to like being with Hermione even if he doesn't understand why the Spell brought the two of them together.I loved seeing how everyone at the Burrow stood together against Aurors Lerman and Darthmyer. Nobody was going to make Hermione do anything that would endanger her or her husband. I could have kissed Kingsley for lying to his Aurors so that he could hassle them out of the Weasley's and back to the Ministry. He knows Severus is not guilty of any crimes and that he fought for the Order to defeat Voldemort. Yay Kingsley! As for Rita "I'm-A-Big-Fat-Liar" Skeeter, I really wish Ginny could have put her in a jar before she transformed from her beetle Animagus. Better luck next time, Ginny. Now I'm wondering how Kingsley is going to sort all this out so Severus doesn't have to go to Azkaban... or does he?I'm off to the next chapter!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Severus was starting to come around, and there was a bit of softening... but now this, it's a set back. The Weasleys are sticking together, well, maybe not Ron, but her friends are being supportive since most of them are aware of the nature of the Bond. LOL loved your Rita rant. Azkaban or not... hummmmm
Well, that didn't go exactly according to Hoyle, did it? At least not according to Hermione's idea of Hoyle. My heart broke for her because she had had no idea what she was setting in motion when she agreed to be a part of the ritual with Ginny and Luna. Now she is magically bonded to a man who, by all intents and purposes, is going to have sex with her every night as opposed to making love. Hold on, Hermione. He'll come around (just like Lucius and beaweasley2 said he would). In the meantime though I think she may be in for an uncertain and unhappy time until Severus gets over his snit and realizes that he would not have been the one the spell chose if he was not the perfect wand mate for "Miss Granger."I'm glad that Lucius checked on Severus' room so that someone who is not pissed off knows that she is there, crying and by herself.I hope the morning brings a better day.Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Hoyle? Well, not, things are a bit messier in real life, aren't they? Nope, they didn't exactly think things out, did they? Oh, he's gonna be mad. Thank you for the review, doll.
The new artwork is beautiful and fits this chapter to a tee.I'm so happy Severus found Hermione, and I loved how he figured out where she was. Their consummation of their union was ordained by the Spell, and not without issues. But I think after all was said and done, both of them are happy where they find themselves... at least for now. I'm sure there will be problems to overcome since both of them are strong personalities, but the only thing I'm worried about right now is that note Maggie Whitmire just sent to the Auror office. What is going to happen to Severus? And Miss Whitmire told her friend that Severus had cast it on Hermione. Umm umm umm umm umm. There is lots of room for misunderstanding and ample fuel for the Daily Prophet to make a mess of the truth. Merlin, somebody please help Severus when the Aurors come looking. Maybe Hermione will be there when that happens and we all know what she's capable of when she gets mad.Great chapter!!!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. I wanted to make sure that even though this isn't exactly consensual (it's under the influence of a spell) it's NOT rape. You're right, the consummation was was ordained by the spell, inevitable but not without issues. Oh yes, there will be problems. and rough times ahead.
Oh, my goodness. I can see Harry having that kind of reaction to seeing the announcement of his Bonding to Ginny plastered all over the Daily Prophet. I felt so bad for all of them... quite a shock. I have to say that Molly and Arthur seemed to take the news very well as they understood the Moon-Song Spell and explained to Harry that it wasn't an underhanded thing that Ginny had done... besides, he had intended for them to get married anyway, just after she had finished Hogwarts.Ron, on the other hand, didn't seem to take the news very well that Hermione didn't feel that way about him. I can understand his disappointment, and I can understand why Hermione wasn't attracted to him (even though she tried). What will the rest of the Weasley family think when it comes out that Hermione isn't in love with Ron? That could be a bit of a sticky wicket. As Severus walked into the garden he noticed that "the moon barely a sliver in the starry sky." And since he has said he would come to find her tomorrow night, it must be the night of the new moon. Will Severus find a book that lets him know which spell was performed that brought him and Hermione to each other in these passionate dreams? How will he know where to find her tomorrow night? What the hell will everyone say when he shows up at the Burrow?I'm just full of questions, aren't I? And I'm eager to find out what happens in the next chapter! Well done, Bea!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
The morning after repercussions. Mr and Mrs Weasley know about betrothal charms, and therefore, while maybe disappointed in Ginny for doing it - accept it. It was natural for them to help Harry see things in perspective. Ron is angry, hurt and feels betrayed. They were engaged after all. Oh, you'll love the way this plays out. I love your questions, brayer, even if I don't answer them.
Whew! *fans self* Thank you for another lovely chapter.I really like the way you've made their "dreams" so realistic that even their hosts know what they must be dreaming about. Lucius was a hoot, and I can imagine Severus' chagrin at waking up from his hawt dream only to find his friend sitting next to his bed with a bemused smile on his face. There's embarrassment, and then there's embarrassment. I adore the Malfoy house-elves and the circumspect manner they go about seeing to Severus' needs. And Hermione's dreams are waking not only herself, but Ginny as well. I laughed when Ron kept talking to her through the loo door asking if she needed help. 8^) Yes, I'm sure she could have used some help, just not the kind that Ron could offer. I wonder what is going to happen when he realizes that Severus Snape is alive and well, and bound to Hermione? Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Oh yes, Lucius - I couldn't help myself. and of course the house-elves are helpful. teehehehe Hermione - well, no, she's not needing his kind of help right now at all.
Oh, bea! What a marvelous, spectacular, splendiferous, happy (for fangurls), and sexy first chapter. It's wonderfully trademark beaweasley2.I am so taken with this prompt and the way you've set everything up in this chapter that I could cut back flips. I'm so excited to finally get to the point where I could start reading, and I know I'm going to be thrilled with each chapter, just like I always am when you're the author.Believe it or not, this morning when I started reading I was all decked out in a scrub pants and a hospital gown undergoing the time honored ritual of an upper GI. You know the kind... it's served with a nice barium milkshake. Yeaah... (nothing bad just something I get to enjoy every few years.) Anyway, I want to say thank you for this lovely chapter because it made the waiting very nice.I noticed that when the girls were wishing on the moon that Hermione said her wish different from the way Luna and Ginny did, and I immediately thought "Yes! This is going to fuuuuuuun!" I love the Spell incantation and the brewing of the Potion, and the results of both for our heroines. Ginny is sure of herself and very gungho. Luna is thoughtful and kind, and she sees aspects of things that usually others miss. Maggie Whitmire is delightful. Hermione and Severus are thunder struck. And I am one happy fangurl!!!BethPS- I wonder what Narcissa is doing? Gotta go read some more.

Fantastic, thank you for the update! Glad to see things running on track for Severus and Hermione. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out with Severus's grandfather!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yep things are progressing. Oh, you'll see. I'd hate to ruin the mystery. lol Thank you very much for the review,

.
It was sooo wonderful to see a new chapter for this fic, and what a chapter! I'm so glad that Severus has returned to Hogwarts from St. Mungo's Hospital. Severus and Hermione's reunion show so much progress. I love that Severus is paying attention to her likes and interests. The fantastic book he gave her made me envious. Then their kiss mkade me want to melt. The situation with Miss Priswell and Severus' great grandfather, Talfryn Oprince, is certainly getting complicated. I'm working to keep all the players straight in my mind as I read. I'm also glad that Severus confided in Hermione about the situation. It shows his growing trust in her, just as her rash action in taking the test potion shows her level of trust in him. Thingshad definitely heated up between our pair by the end of the chapter. I wonder what will be thge factor to opropel Hermione back to intimate relations with her bond-mate?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Well, he's not giving up his day job. lol Yep, he is really trying to make a effort and she's definitely physically attracted to him. The book, I know, perfect and yes, that was the point of the kiss. As we progress, the who is who will be well clarified, so don't worry, only Miss Priswell is not going to like the conclusion ... oops. Yes, there is a strong sense that they do at least trust each other. Now if I could just get them to cooperate with me and try to have a healthy relationship - in time, I'm working on it. Thank you very much for the review.
I guess the thing that disturbs me is his insistence on an unequal relationship. He wants her to fulfill him sexually but in conversation he consistently questions her about her schoolwork, reinforcing the professor-student dynamic, treating her like a schoolchild. No wonder she was so excited to find common ground in a non-school topic like Hemingway. Sadly, for him it was just a ploy within his manipulation to get her behavior to conform to his desires. He is not yet looking for a wife but a handy whore who does whatever she is told.My hope is always for the happy ending but I can't see these two people ending up together being that. It will only be sad if she mistakes abuse for affection and manipulation for love. And since, in this story, the leopard doesn't seem likely to change his spots and she cannot escape him, I can only see a sad ending.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Mikimoto, considering on where I started out with these two, I see considerable growth in the relationship, although, frankly they still have a lot to work through. At least they are amicable toward one another. Yes, this dynamic needs to change, but Hermione is still holding him off and not caving. But you have some very valid points - ones that I'm addressing as I type and adjust my outline as the relationship moves forward - and backward. These two are such scarred people, its hard to get them, especially him, to open up. I'm doing my best. Thank you for your review and I appreciate the impartial viewpoint.
Response from mikimoto (Reviewer)
Actually, I see your characters as very canon. Hermione is naive about so many things -- especially the consequences of her actions. Severus does look for ways to turn the situation to his advantage. If he is going to be shackled to a "child-bride" not of his choosing, then by golly he is going to get everything out of it he can.I think a lot of people think cannon Snape and canon Granger are compatible -- and maybe 10, 15 years down the road, they might be. But at this point, she is too self-centered and unwise and he is too angry and fed up. Soul-mates or not, it won't matter.I honestly can't think of what could make her mature, except for time. And as for healing his anger... might as well ask for the moon. That kind of healing comes from forgiving those who have wronged you and Severus has never shown a forgiving spirit. He is the quintessential grudge-holder. He wants all those who have wronged him to pay their debt (even the ones who are dead). Reality is that debts never get paid and the one who refuses to forgive ends up paying by developing a bitter spirit.I wish you all the best as you develop the story. I think you have set yourself a real challenge. I am applauding you always.
Awesome chapter! I loved the ending with Severus teasing her. I also liked how you really showed their developing feelings....very nice. Can't wait for more. Great job! ~Jen

Thank you very much. I'm working on their interactions, but they have a long way to go. Hugs, Jen.
I am absolutely trilled to see the update and I loved it! I loved the progress in their relationship, it was about time:-))
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. Yep, some progress. Thank you for the review.
Yea another chapter. I am glad that Severus trusts Hermione enough to let her help him and I am glad that Hermione was able to show how much trust in Severus she has. Sher would have made a good detective. Please, Please update soon.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Thank you very much. Yes, at last some progress. Did you think she wouldn't have figured it out - our girl helped Harry solve all kinds of things - this one is just another mystery to solve. Thank you for the review. Yes, I'm working on my next chapter. (Parchment will update next though)
It is good they are finding a way to be together.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
Yep, they are finding ways to at least get to know each other. Thank you for the review.
“I’m Headmaster, Hermione, the rules don’t necessarily apply." Absolutely! :D
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
LOL Liked that one, did you? Me too. Thank you for the review.
Wait a minnit.... Severus didn't mention anything about the raid. Has he already been on the raid, or is he still planning it?? Sneaky!Little Pepper is in need of a headache potion, after all this spying on Miss Priswell. Any chance the nasty lady could talk to herself while Pepper listens in? Severus' grandfather really has no idea what's going on under his own roof...Thank you for the new chapter!!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
No Severus didn't tell her about the raid, he still has a bit of that 'need to know' attitude left over from the war. There is still a raid to come and possibly some more Auror action... of course. Pepper is a very good house-elf and takes good care of her master - that said, who's to say she won't overhear something and tell Severus. But his only instructions were to bring him the potions. Talfryn is a very sick man, and when you are close to dying, aided by inept Healers, you don't know what's happening. You're very welcome for the update - thank you for the review.
Does Hogwarts have some kind of yearbook? That would be really convenient. I was so excited to see an update, I think I may have hyperventilated. That was fabulous!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
I don't recall JKR mentioning a yearbook. But then she never mentioned graduation ceremonious either. Just a leaving feast. There is a school registry. Oh, no- are you okay now? I hate causing my readers to hyperventilate! But yes, I even plan on having another update. (Parchment first.) Thank you very much for the review.
I've been away on vacation. So glad to have two updates to read at once. While I believe in the power and the parameters of the charm--that it bonds true soul mates, I do believe Severus and Hermione need this time to get to know each other more intimately (at the intellectual as well as the physical level) and then freely make the choice together to believe it to be true and act accordingly. Thank goodness for the friends who are just a little more objective and tell them the truth but do not make the decision for them. Life is what happens when we are planning to do something else. Great story. One of my favorites.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Plight-Trothed Bride)
You will learn more about the Bonding later. Yes, I totally agree that they need time to get to know each other on a intellectual way and as partners/equals. That will make a difference. ALthough their friends are being supportive, some of the advise is askew. You'll see. Thank you so much for the review.

NO!!! I spent the last two days getting caught up on this story and now there are no more chapters...and right at the date too; not cool at all. Anyway, getting over that...you did a great job on this chapter and I loved how you made Hermione so nervous about her "non-date" with Severus. Can't wait to actually read about the date! Update soon!~Jen

The chapter, boringly titled "The Date" is with my beta and should be ready for posting soon. Don't dispair. and I have the chapter after that being beta'ed too. *hugs* and thank you so much for reading my story to date. I hope you like the rest as well.

Well, Snape was a little better in this chapter. Hope they actually get to talk more in the next one. Loved the way he "abducted" her.~Jen
