Reviews for Resolving a Misunderstanding
Have I ever mentioned how much I love your Poppy? I think she's the most humorous of your characters. Well, the most consistently humorous ... Gertie and her "gird your loins" always cracks me up. Poppy reminds me of someone I knew in jr. high, but after attending three schools in my jr. high years, I can't remember who it was ... but she definatly reminds me of someone.
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
You mean short, exceedingly chunky and having a massive walruss-like moustache? yeah ... I was very much looking forward to mutton chops ... *sigh* I guess Jim didn't want all that glue on his face. So glad they didn't skimp on Albus and Hagrid's facial glory.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Yep! Very plump around the middle was always one of his essential features for me -- but JB was so good, I forgot he didn't look right! :-)
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
He was fantastic ... but Mutton Chops!
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
Oh ... and I liked the appreciation you threw in there about Slughorn, even though I know you don't particularly like him (I do) and he's easy to poke fun at ... and he takes the poking fairly well I think ... poor Sluggy, getting sick and having no clue why ... awwww.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
I've grown very fond of Poppy as I write her. I'm glad you find her consistently humorous! :-)I'm not a big Slughorn fan, but he works well in certain places in fics, and I don't think he's dreadful or anything.Jim Broadbent as Slughorn was almost the only thing that I liked about the 6th movie. (I'm sure that if I managed to make it through it again, I would find a few other things, but Slughorn was great & Jim Broadbent was terrific -- and when I first heard he'd been cast, I'd thought it was an odd choice, since he doesn't strike me as anything like the HS of the books. But he was perfect.)
Facepalm Val ... *shakes head* class like ... well ... lets just say I doubt even the Gamp dogs would give her any respect.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Yeah, she thinks she's classy and refined and all, but her behavior is pretty appalling! But boy, she was a fun character to write!

Minerva was not entirely pleased with Gertrude’s answer, feeling that the older witch must know more than she was saying. “But why is Valerianna so obsessed with me, Gertrude? You are a friend of Albus’s, as well. If she dislikes me simply because she dislikes Albus’s friends after whatever happened between them a few years ago, shouldn’t she dislike you even more?”
*snip*
Finally she asks ... I was wondering when she was going to get hit in the head with that ... duh - why DOES V. hate Minerva so much ... silly Minerva
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
*snip*
“You know, Gertie, I don’t think it’s only Valerianna who’s operating with too little information. I feel that she knows something I don’t – ” “It is not what she knows, Minerva. It is what she presumes she knows.” “But I still don’t understand why she feels the need to annoy me, or worse. It is clearly occupying a lot of her energy, given the conversation I overheard. Not to mention that she can’t help but stare at me during meals. What is it about me?”
*snip*
GAH! *rips out hair* For Heaven sake Gertie, just say it ... or for Heaven sake Minerva, OPEN YOUR EARS ... "its because Albus is in love with you, Minerva!"
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Gertrude thinks it should be evident to Minerva by now that, at the very least, Valerianna believes Albus is in love with Minerva and that Minerva should be exploring whether that is true. She's giving the broadest indications she possibly can, but Minerva is just not seeing it yet.
*snip*Before Minerva could do anymore than open her mouth in complete indignation, Gertrude stood. “Time for lunch, Minerva. Gird your loins!”*snip**laughs* I just love that ... Gertie is so awesomesauce.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
*grin!* Minerva did have to be prepared to have lunch with that crowd!Glad you love Gertie so much!
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
Yeah but its more than that ... its that Gertie and Minerva were talking about something that bothered Minerva, and Gertie stopped Minerva's questions with this so well placed comment ... and its doubly perfect because Gertie is 1. admitting her relatives are awful, 2. admitting they are in on this (surviving the relatives) together 3. stopping Minerva from asking more questions and 4. she's being funny
Did I mention I loved Gertie?
Alas ... my daughter is adopting Trudykins the kitten, taking her to her father's house and has renamed her Nala .... *frown* I don't think I can call this cat Nala ... she is Trudykins ... and always will be Trudykins ... or Gertrude ... or Gertiekins ... but not Nala ... *grumbles*
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Nala? Hmmm, yeah, I can see how it doesn't feel at all like Trudykins!Yeah, I think you're right with all those points. Now once Minerva gets over her "issues," she'll be able to appreciate all those things about Gertie, too. :-D
Oh boy, you gotta love background gossip stuff, doncha? Even hermits like me like to know some dirt on people sometimes ... or rather not dirt, but more in depth information. Great chapter to fill in history without it seeming like a chapter to fill in history ... does that make sense? It comes off natural because I can easily see Minerva being curious about all these folks.
Wee beasties indeed. I can relate.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Yeah, it's a bit of an info-dump but without being info-dumpish, since Minerva really is learning all of this & it's not just being recited for the sake of the reader, as you say.Ah, yes, the wee beasties! ;-)
*snip*“A few years ago, Albus began seeing Valerianna socially. Of course, he had done so before, and she was on the Hogwarts Board of Governors at that time. But he began to . . . escort her to various Ministry events and other wizarding social occasions around London. She was quite pleased to be seen with a living hero, a wizard who was not only intelligent, but powerful, as well. She believed that it was only a matter of time before Dippet retired and Albus was named Headmaster. Valerianna was aware that Albus had been approached twice before to become Minister for Magic. She believed three times is the charm, and that with the proper persuasion, Albus would eventually agree to become Minister for Magic after serving a few years as Headmaster.”Minerva sat, somewhat disbelieving, staring at her former Arithmancy teacher. Why would this person have cared whether Albus became Headmaster or Minister for Magic? Was Gertrude saying that Albus had been . . . involved with this witch?“And so . . . ?” Minerva finally asked.“Valerianna Yaxley wanted to be the wife of the Minister for Magic, Minerva. She thought that she could influence Albus into, first, marrying her, obviously, and then into agreeing to become Minister for Magic.” Minerva stared at Gertrude, open-mouthed and incredulous. “I don’t believe it.”*snip*I love this, but of course you know that, because I never cut out snippets and scream 'I hate this' ... so let me tell you why I love this ... Gertrude is explaining a situation in a manner that might not seem straight forward to a younger person, but to me, seems very straight forward. What I love here is the difference in age you show just by their conversation. Gertrude is older and wiser and understands relationships and motivations, especially by those underhanded, better than Minerva. Minerva, of course, is younger, and less wise, and grew up with people who were not so underhanded and can't see the connection ... it reminds me of how I was at a younger age when I thought everything was idealic, or at least, should have been and was completely clueless to how some people worked ... it just never occurred to me ... so reading here how Gertie tries to explain it first, then say it, and Minerva not getting it right away, is absolutely perfect.Much better than if Gertie said it and THEN explained it, I think - that is the younger, less wise way to say things, but Gertie is wise ... did I mention I loved Gertie? OH ... yeah ... I did.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Thanks! I think you're right that that bit of conversation is quite revealing about where they each are in their lives, and that Minerva isn't yet the older, wiser witch we encounter a few decades later -- but it's part of what helps shape her and encourages her growth.Gertie certainly opened her eyes a bit here in this chapter!
I absolutely love this chapter ... well, this whole part of Minerva being at the Gamps ... in fact, besides the chapter about Morag the cat, it might be my favorite bit in the story ... that is how much I adore Gertie ... and just for you, I am trying really hard to picture the woman as tall ... its ... not easy since Gertrude has been formed in my head for more than a while ... however, she is slowly morphing, or shall I say stretching, from the shorter, stout woman into a taller, taffy like tall woman ... but the lime green suits are sticking ... nothing you can do about that I'm afraid!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
It's so good to hear you say that you like the Gamp Party chapters. They are a nice interlude, I think, a change from the usual settings, and they allow Minerva to interact with many different sorts of people, as well as get to know Gertie better -- and even get to uncerstand Albus better by learning about him from others and seeing others' views of him.Heheheh! Lime green still stuck in your head, huh? Sounds like an outfit I had in the mid-70s. I thought it was the height of cool. lolJust keep stretching her until she's slightly taller than Minerva and slightly shorter than Albus & Malcolm, and you can stop -- no need to taffy-pull her into Elasto-woman!
*snip*
Minerva laughed. “I could never refuse you anything, Albus. And certainly I could not have refused this job!”
*snip*
Ding ding ding ding ding ... oh Albus ... anyone home inside that head of yours?
*snip*
Albus smiled. “I could not hand my students over to anyone else. I never envisioned anyone but you taking the position. I do not know what I would have done, actually, if you had refused me – it. I would have advertised and found everyone else wanting.”
*snip*
OH Minerva .... anyone home? *raps on forehead*
I think these two need giant signboards with arrows and directions or something.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
They certainly do! See why Gertrude became frustrated with them both by the end? lol!
Poor Albus! Poor Minerva! I can't imagine being in either of their places ... and poor Albus that he suspects that he's lost Minerva's trust ... that would bother me a great deal were I in his situation.
Goodness Minerva is brutally blunt ... reminds me of someone ... hrm ...
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Yes, neither of them is in a comfortable situation there -- and Albus was a bit hurt that Minerva might think he would "eavesdrop" on her private thoughts, but he understood her worries, too. And, of course, he's concerned about her more generally, as well.Did you notice Albus's line, “... many things can happen to any of us that we might formerly believe impossible, Minerva. It is not a weakness to ask for help”? That was a lesson that a young, and formerly very confident, Albus learned very painfully himself. He worries that, although Minerva's situation is nothing like his was, she might still be afraid to ask for help when she might need it because she's "supposed to be" competent and strong.Fortunately, once Minerva learned (and trusted) that Albus wouldn't just spy on her thoughts with Legilimency, she grew more comfortable with him and it actually helped her not obsess so much about it, since she wasn't so worried he'd discover her secret.
*snip*Minerva returned to her office, putting her books and parchments in their proper places, then thought about tea. Going back to her rooms and using the loo, Minerva remembered her brief conversation with Hagrid earlier that day. She really ought to pay him a visit. She hadn’t seen much of him since she had returned to teach, as their paths rarely crossed. He seldom came to meals in the Great Hall, she had noticed, although she was sure that Dumbledore had made him welcome at the staff table. Likely a habit from the years when Dippet was Headmaster.*snip*Hagrid was teaching already? Somehow I missed that, I thought he was a Game Keeper or Groundsman.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
No, he's the Groundskeeper, though. A member of staff. Staff normally all eat together. Dippet had forbidden school-aged Hagrid from eating with the rest of the staff, and although Hagrid had long since had that restriction lifted, he knew that Dippet didn't like to see him in the Great Hall for meals, so he always ate alone (this bit is RaMverse -- that Dippet had forbidden him to eat at the staff table -- in canon, all the staff eat in the Great Hall at the staff table, including Hagrid, and I made that something that only happened once Dumbledore started making him welcome at meals).
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
I misread that ... she hadn't seen much of him since SHE had returned to teach ... not he returned to teach ... my mistake.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Ah, I see, yes, she hadn't seen much of him since she returned to teach. :-)
*snip*
If anyone with sharp eyes had been present in the minutes after the Headmaster had left his office, they might have noticed a rather peculiar draught that seemed to rise up from nowhere to ruffle the parchments on the Headmaster’s desk. The three sheets sitting in the centre of it were wafted gently to the floor, where they came to rest only partially obscured by the furniture upon which they had once lain visible and unobstructed. Such a person might also have observed a similar soft breeze lightly disturbing the neat stack of parchments on the right side of the desktop, exposing the parchments that had been placed at the very bottom of the pile. There was no one there to observe, however, but Fawkes and some rather drowsy portraits, one of whom shook her head and muttered, “Foolish thing,” before falling into an artful doze punctuated by the occasional counterfeit snore.
*snip*
I forget a great deal ... and I have forgotten what caused this draft ... was it Wilspy? *scratches head* Yes, I am too impatient to wait and find out myself.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Yep, Wilspy was the "foolish thing" that caused that bit of draft!
*snip*
“Albus, you know that what I said, I said in the heat of the moment, after a long build up. You know that I felt . . . neglected, I suppose, or that you didn’t respect me.” She looked up at him. Albus remained silent, listening to her attentively. “I certainly had no right to feel neglected, nor to have any expectations from you except that you would treat me as a Headmaster treats one of his teachers, and I know now, of course, that you did not act out of any disrespect for me, either. It’s just that . . . you know how a person can have certain hopes and expectations when they start something new? Well, I came to Hogwarts with certain hopes and expectations, and it seemed that . . .” Here, Minerva swallowed and gathered her courage. “It seemed that my greatest hope, which I had feared was simply unrealistic, had been completely foolish.” Minerva looked at her hands, which she had been wringing in her lap. She stilled them with an effort, but did not look up. “I had hoped that we might continue our friendship. That we might become . . . better friends, I suppose. And my hope was raised after you came to the house-warming that Poppy had for me. I didn’t harbour any illusions that we would be able to see each other like that all of the time once term started, of course. But I felt that I never saw you at all. And it got so that I would look forward to every meeting we had – not that there were many – no matter what the subject, and yet you were late to every one of them.” Minerva’s voice had fallen to a whisper. “I know that you have apologised and explained, Albus. And you needn’t apologise again. I understand, and it’s all right. I accepted your apology immediately and without any reservations. I am just trying to explain to you – and to myself – my state of mind yesterday morning. I was hurt and angry – and I should have talked to you earlier, I know. But as I said last night, each incident seemed too petty to become upset over, and I care about you so much, I did not want to seem to be demanding anything of you. After I left your office yesterday morning, I just kept going over in my head every little thing that you hadn’t done, and I forgot all of the wonderful things you have done for me – not just in the last six months, but ever since I have known you. By the time I had finished telling Poppy about your rescheduling our appointment because you had to meet with Gertrude and then condition your beard, I had worked myself into quite a state.”
*snip*
Its too darn bad Albus doesn't have a clever Slytherin, or Ravenclaw there to translate that into simple terms because ... well, even for a staunch Gryff like me, its pretty obvious what she is really saying.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Yes: she loves him and was crushed when he became so aloof and seemed to disregard her feelings and not respect her, being so often late for appointments.I think that if Dumbledore didn't have the hang-up he has about not being appropriate for her (and the to-be-revealed-later problem resulting from the situation with V), he might have begun to cotton on here, or at least become hopeful & begin to explore their relationship more.
*snip*He didn’t think that she had noticed his unseemly appreciation of her bosom. It was not as though she were spilling out of her robes or anything like that; the cut was perfectly modest. Albus wished he could slap himself.*snip*HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OH that makes me giggle. This chapter reminds me so of how I silently admonish myself .... truly we can be our own worst enemies sometimes.*snip*He put the smallest lump of butter on the top of his egg and followed it with salt and pepper, glad to have a routine task to perform whilst he regained his composure. It had not been only his mind that had been distracted a moment ago, and Albus doubted that he could stand just then without embarrassing himself. Just in case, he pulled himself a bit closer to the table to be sure that it fully obscured his lap.*snip*Awwww ... that reminds me of teaching Jr. High years ago ... I always felt sorry for the young men who found themselves in such situations. Poor laddie!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Yeah, and sometimes it just "happens," and for no reason discernable even to the guy! At his age, though, Albus is quadrupally self-conscious about it -- he doesn't normally have "reactions" during breakfast! lol!
Its hard for me to review this chapter and not rant about morons and their prideful idiocy ... I can very much relate with Minerva here ... very much so.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Somehow, I missed a bunch of reviews you left, so I will catch up!Morons in high places are terrible. Especially officious ones with high opinions of themselves and low opinions of everyone else.
Remind me again, what does Dustern teach?
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
A lot of what you're seeing is a result of her not liking Dumbledore, which affects her attitudes and behaviours in the scenes in the story.Remember that at one point, Minerva is surprised to learn that Dustern doesn't like Dumbledore, since she did usually manage a professional demeanor in front of students, even if she is pretty frosty and not very likeable to Minerva even as a student -- disapproving of her relationship with Dumbledore. She had also hoped that Minerva might pursue Charms and was actually jealous that Minerva had chosen Dumbledore & Transfiguration over her & Charms. She's not a very likeable person, though, certainly.
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
Ahhh, it is coming back to me now. Yes ... doesn't like Dumbledore mainly due to ... yes ... now I remember. Yes, resentment, jealousy and unforgiveness generally do tend to make people unlikeable.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Was a Master of charms (or Mistress?), was an old Hufflepuff student of Dippet's when he was HoH, and she needed a job. She was a pretty competent instructor, if not a real teacher. :-)
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
Gotcha, I had forgotten, though I had not forgotten her disdainful attitude and all the resentment she had in her heart.
I absolutely love this chapter. I shall try to explain why.
Throughout this yarn there is a great deal of information that you present. Much of it, if it were a simple novel with a very straight line of a plot, would not fit, would be considered extra and thus, discarded by the editors. But of course, this is fan fiction and you can do what you like, and for that I am most thankful because ... what you are doing is weaving an entire world with a main plot line and numerous other plot lines in relation ... and you can and do, add some of these extra bits of information that really enrich the world as well as explain, more fully, why certain people are so close/or hate each other so much.
This chapter, which of course, explains the wards in great detail, is absolutely amazing. Its probably my favorite chapter in all of RAM regarding magical law and properties. It also really gives me, or rather all your readers, an actual picture of how these wards work ... how they actually protect, and how they are layered or woven, together.
And of course, a picnic with Albus is just groovy in and of itself. Simply fantastic Madam Raven.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Awww!! Thanks! It was good to be able to incorporate these earlier stories and to give the setting and characters more depth and texture.
I'm on my phone, sitting out on the porch listening to the birds in the woods and fields, and drinking a beer, so I hope my phone doesn't do anything strange to my response - it's sometimes not-so-smart!
I'm glad you like all the discussion of the wards! I enjoy thinking about the magic as though it were real.
This chapter always makes me very anxious. Brilliantly written.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Thanks! This section of the story was quite a challenge for me, and it was different from anything I'd written before. I'm glad it works for you! :-)
Ooooh .... mmmmmgg *is at a loss for words and slightly dizzy* Albus .... oh Albus .... *is insainly jealous of Minerva right now*

“I’ll Apparate us both, if that is agreeable to you,” Albus said.“Very.” She looked up at him. “You are extremely attractive at the moment, though, with the wind in your hair like it is. . . . You don’t suppose . . .” “What?” “Can you, well, perhaps not . . . I was just wondering how it would feel to kiss you when you Apparate.”Albus’s eyes sparkled, and he put his arms around Minerva, holding her closely. He gently kissed Minerva’s lips, then as he deepened the kiss and pulled her against him, Minerva felt a shimmer of his magic, and when Albus broke the kiss and she opened her eyes, she saw that they were in front of the house. Minerva smiled. “You are very talented, Albus.”Albus grinned and winked at her. “I do like to try something new occasionally.”

Egeria came in and said, “I’ll have a whisky, too, Merwyn. Then why don’t we go into the sitting room? We can watch the storm from there,” Egeria said, still standing near the door.“Mm, I think you have an unnatural appreciation of precipitation,” Merwyn said, but he turned and said to Albus and Minerva, “Would you care to join us in the sitting room and watch the rain? It is most entertaining. Or so I have been told.” Egeria elbowed him lightly in the ribs and he grinned.

I'll take after Egeria ... nothing like watching a storm!

“Mmm, until they need their nappies changing,” Merwyn said. “Then they don’t smell so sweet. But I’m glad that Melina and Brennan have decided to wait a few years before starting a family. Although Brennan doesn’t want to wait too long. He says he doesn’t want to be an old man raising his kids, ready to retire and still with children to support.” Suddenly Merwyn seemed flustered, almost taking a drink from his empty glass. “Of course, Brennan is a Muggle. Things are different for Muggles. And it’s time now for dinner. Better go in.”
*snip*
Woops! I can almost feel Egeria kick him from here. Awww ... poor Merwyn, having to watch everything he says.

Besides, I thought you liked my brown robes. That’s what you said the last time I wore them!”“No, it isn’t. I said I liked taking them off of you. There is a difference,” Egeria said with a smile. She patted his tummy and added, “And you are right, you don’t look like Friar Tuck. You have a much nicer figure – though heaven only knows why, when you sit behind your desk all day or in the library with your feet up.”*snip**Bursts out laughing and spits milk on the keyboard again.* Why is it I'm always drinking milk when I rerererere-read RaM?Anyhoo, I loved that little peek into the McGonagall household.

Maybe milk is a comfort-drink and RaM is comfort-reading? Glad it made you laugh, even if you spit milk! hee! I enjoy writing my secondary characters just as much as I enjoy writing the major ones. I think they give depth to the story (and to the backgrounds of the major characters), and it helps make the story a bit more lively, I think. More textured or something. *shrugs*
Response from Fishy (Reviewer)
More creamy! *grins* Dairy theme.

Yes, I just have to stick my big, fat, crooked nose into it again - but do you know men that actually talk to each other so personally? Hell, I've never known men who talk that personally with women - well - not me anyway ... I was just curious.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Yeah, it depends on the men, though -- and they're not likely to sit around in groups and talk, and it's more likely to be one-on-one. And you do notice that they both cut certain aspects of the conversation short & didn't delve too deeply into certain things that two women likely would have. Also, remember that Malcolm screwed himself up to do this for his little sister's sake. He wants her to be happy, and this is his eccentric version of the "be good to my little sister or else" speech. I've had a lot of guy friends who've talked quite personally with me, but I've had other guy friends who, for whatever reason in their upbringing or their background, seem incapable of talking about personal things with anyone, which is a pity. I always hope that when they are in a romantic relationship with a woman, they'll be able to open up more.

I spose most of the men buddies I've had have been the 'strong-silent' type - but then again I grew up around the military and the ocean - manly men - you know the sort - the ones that are invincible and don't need any help with anything? RAR! And romantically, I'd have to categorize my guys into the "denial" department - there are no issues - "I am perfect" sort.Perhaps I'll just stick to fish - they're far more humble.

Yeah, it depends on the men, though -- and they're not likely to sit around in groups and talk, and it's more likely to be one-on-one. And you do notice that they both cut certain aspects of the conversation short & didn't delve too deeply into certain things that two women likely would have. *snip*“I’ll just pop around to the Owlery now, my dear! Be right back,” he said brightly.“No, you don’t, Albus Dumbledore! Blampa can bring it for you. We are having our dessert – with no discussion of anything Malcolm-related – and then we are playing chess. We are going to enjoy ourselves this evening.” She took the parchment from Albus’s hand. “Blampa!”*snip*That's my Minerva! You tell that Silly Wizard to STOP INTERFEARING WITH THE RELAXING ATMOSPHERE and TRY TO ENJOY HIMSELF! Albus and his over zelous feelings of responsibility - very glad that Minerva took charge of that situation. *nods*

Yep, she's beginning to be able to tell him what's good for him -- and for them -- much as Gertrude said she would have to be able to do, wa-ay back in the garden at the Gamp estate a gazillion chappies back. Gertrude knew she had it in her, if she'd only break out of her habits & cast off a few of her preconceived ideas. :D

*snip*I saw a wizard the last time I was in London who had longish hair, greying, and a long beard, though not quite as long as yours, and he had these . . . these things braided into it. And he had a pot belly. I think he believed he was the epitome of style, but he looked quite bizarre and absurd,*snip**snorts* Braidstones and runes are AWESOME! Albus could only be sexier with braidstones! *nods*

This fellow looked absurd, as would Albus, in Minerva's opinion. (You can possibly divine my own here, too!)I'm sure they have a place, but not on Albus, thank you very much!

Pssha - beardstones, braidstones, runestones - all darn sexy if you ask me - but alas, I shall have to accept your opinions ... even if I don't agree with them. I spose I should be thankful that we can both agree that Albus does indeed, look best with his thick mane and glorious beard!

*snip*“Shave your head and go naked then! No robes for Master Albus! That is what is under all those clothes!” Wilspy threw up her hands and rolled her eyes, then Disapparated, leaving Albus to chuckle. *snip*AH! Hahahahaha, yes, I'm reading it again - and I will always love Wilspy here - well, I love her everywhere, but especially here!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Wilspy did come up with a good comeback to Albus's "silliness" in getting rid of his beard and shortening his hair, didn't she? I'm glad it's still tickling your funny-bone!

I don't think I appreciated just how different your young Minerva was from your older, adult Minerva - I think you do a wonderful job describing her melodrama, her over reactions, her outspoken, to her detriment, ways, her thinking out loud and, basically, just being an inexperienced teen and young adult - its still easy to see the Minerva we all get to know, but its excellent to see the evolution of that person.Good job!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Resolving a Misunderstanding)
Thank you! I tried to make her still Minerva, just young Minerva, one who was still learning and developing, one who hadn't quite gotten that grip on her temper yet so that she could rein it in and unleash it when she wanted, not when her temper did -- and, of course, her just being a teenager, with the emotionality and volatility that can go along with those years, even for smart and mature teens. I'm glad that you recognise Minerva here and like the way her character was "back-developed" here.
*snip*Minerva was torn. On the one hand, she didn’t want to seem a little girl who couldn’t spend one night alone in the dormitory. On the other, she thought she would feel a little more at home in the small bedroom next door to the comfortable, Dumbledorish mess. On the third hand, if she had a third, she was used to the Tower room, but on the fourth hand, she felt honoured that he would allow her to stay in his guest room.*snip*Did I mention before I can feel this delima? Embarassment, honor, gratitude, excitment and a tinge of fear, all rolled into one. You do an amazing job of explaining that unique emotion in very few words.

Thank you! Growing up can be complicated!
