Years after Voldemort is destroyed, Hermione struggles to have the life she has always wanted. **Note: This story is on haitus. It isn't abandoned; I simply have no idea when it will be continued.

Reviews for Strega Letteraria
I love the story,I can so see Hermione the owner of a book store.I wish we could see more of Severus though!Maybe next chapter(I hope!}At least if she can't have Severuses baby she can have Harrys!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
You will eventually see more of Severus, don't worry about that. ;)
Well that was certainly a twist. I look forward to seeing how this scenario will play out...Great job as always.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Yes, I love twisting the plot, sometimes in evil little ways. My betas weren't too happy with me, but oh well!
Oh how sad for Hermione. We need to get her hooked up with Severus, he can know and maybe be the male influence for the baby. I think Hermione should let Harry know but not ask for anything, after all it takes two to tango and she is equally responceable.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
You are so right. We do need to get that girl hooked up with Severus, don't we?
Wow! That's the most accurate description of early pregnancy I've ever read.... or at least it agrees with my experience, minus the actual vomitting. (Nausea, mostly in the evening and especially when thinking about greasy food.) It's also refreshing to read about a Harry Potter who doesn't want children. Poor Hermione! In the earlier chapters I was figuring that Snape was the stalker, but now with Lucius on the lam I don't know. Still, I have high hopes for our friend Snape. Keep on writing!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Oh, believe me, early pregnancy still haunts me, as you probably guessed.
I thought it would be slightly different to write a Harry who wasn't keen about having children. People just think that naturally he'd want a big family, but he didn't have very happy childhood experiences around small children growing up. He didn't meet the Weasleys until he was eleven years old, and then the only children he was around were those his own age. To me, it would be more realistic that he would be a bit leery of small children, not knowing how to relate to them as much.
urgh... need the "romance" part soon, please - don't want Hermione to make further mistakes!! where's a Snape when you need him?? please don't let the baby look like harry!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Let's see. I can't answer anything without giving anything away. I'm a few chapters down the line, working on the romance part. There's a lot of development in this story, for sure.
Hm, nightmares and prego what more could a girl need to make her life miserable. Love the story.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Not to mention no money. That sort of takes away all the joy in life, doesn't it. Well, there's nowhere else to go but up!
Poor Hermione. And what is this going to do to Harry?
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Well, that will definitely be addressed in the future. Maybe not in the next couple chapters, but eventually. I have to be very careful here because I've written quite a bit more than is posted. ;) You'll have to wait and see!
uh-oh...I don't think anything else need be said.
more please!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Well, I'm glad you said, "More please," or I would have thougt I'd scared you off! *lol* There's definitely more, both on paper and rattling around this brain of mine.
Response from queenp (Reviewer)
well???what are you waiting for? Update, woman!!!! Get it from the your brain to the paper to the computer and to me. This is taking way too long!!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Don't worry. There's a lot on the trusty laptop. You'll get more. It's just that I woke up this morning and thought, now how can I torture poor
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
? *snicker*
Response from queenp (Reviewer)
I'm tortured enough by RL...I teach 6th graders...
plus, if that isn't enough, our big "high stakes" standardized test is given this week...starts on Tuesday. No more torturing me is necessary this week. *hand on head in dramatic sigh*
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Well, then I'll have a nice fresh chapter waiting for you when this week is over with. ;) Hang in there!
Response from queenp (Reviewer)
*looking hopeful* Does it have to be after the week? Can't it be midweek? *nodding head* Yeah! That's it! That's the ticket! A midweek stress reliever! That's the way to go! *puppy dog eyes* Please?
Ouch! Just what the struggling bookstore owner needs. I'm surprised Harry is so set against having kids, though. I'd expect him to want a big family, to make up for what he didn't have. Great chapter!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Thank you! I know, you would think that having a big family would compensate for that, wouldn't you? Anyway, with him out of town all the time, I think he'd end up being an absentee father. The whole Harry thing will be resolved eventually, one way or another.
Response from firefly124 (Reviewer)
There's that. Plus you have a point in your comment to another review that Harry really wouldn't have much/any experience children younger than 11 and could very reasonably find them intimidating. I look forward to seeing what happens next, in any case!
Preggers! Oh NO! Some folks are just plain destined to make really stupid choices, take HG and HP for example. Shakes head and wants to smack Harry and Hermione.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
I know. But it just goes to show that it can happen to anyone. We'll see how Hermione gets through this one now.
Hi, I don't normally read WIP's but just could not stop once I read the first chapter.I absolutely love the way you write. Everything is so well constructed that it's not like you are reading at all but actually watching it play out within your mind.Hope you will update soon but so far it is my #1 read. Thanks,Linda

Thanks, Linda! I will update soon. Right now I'm concentrating on site stuff, but as soon as I've settled things down, the next chapter will be uploaded.
i was reading the review where you said you lived alone. i would live alone i have to have a roommate because you can't trust a lot of people.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Yes, it was only for a few months that I did so. It is rather nice to be able to come home to someone though.
This is creepy. I'm sitting in an empty house in the forest, children asleep, husband away and I have a very strong urge to run to the door and place a ward. I really better do that... What if a Stranger...
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
... Boo! *lol* I'm glad I've created such an atmosphere with this chapter!
ouuu that is a chilling thought that no one would notice if she went missing. Id be nervous too!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
You know, I used to live alone, and that thought crossed my mind more than once.
You wrote: 'Crossing her arms to keep out the evening chill that was typical of mid-February, she leaned against the building and looked up at the night sky. The clouds were in a hurry tonight, and the air smelled of the rain that had fallen earlier in the day: that sharp, clean smell that bit into the insides of your nostrils.'
I'm an American and only have ties to Scotland via the heart ... so I was curious, does it actually rain in Scotland in February?
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
I grew up in the upper Midwest, which is essentially on the same lattitude. Temperatures can fluctuate in February. Sometimes it can be a balmy upper-30s to mid-40s (we call that warm) sometimes it can be upper-20s to mid-30s and snowing, and then it can be in the low-20s and below and then it is actually too cold too snow. (Yes, it can be too cold to snow.) This late-winter period of time is very fickle. Today in Northern Scotland, it was between 6 and 9 degrees Centigrade, which converts to 42-48 degrees Fahrenheit.
Response from Darque Hart (Reviewer)
I am well acquainted with the Midwest. Life long oHIo resident.
Fantastic imagery, and such a lonely HG.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Yes, she is rather lonely at the beginning. Life will get more exciting for her, I'm sure!
ouuuuu why isnt her store a sucess? Surely the Hogwarts staff could throw her some required reading book lists? Very sad. Is the dark stranger Snape? So many questions. I do hope you can update soon. I am on the edge of my seat.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
So many questions... and the answers will be in the next few chapters! I don't want to give anything away!
Lovely first chapter! I'll be very happy to read more soon!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Thank you.
enjoyed the opening very muchlove the setting and the atmospherecan't wait for more...the only thing I have a hard time imaginig is Albus' ghost. (it sort of goes against my picture of his persionality)
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Oh, thanks for reminding me about that. I had forgotten I had mentioned his ghost. But remember, there are some pretty foreceful personalities as ghosts. Perhaps Albus felt the intense need to watch over the likes of Severus, for example, to whom he had always been a father-figure. Maybe he wanted to make sure Severus didn't go the rest of his life mourning the fact that he had to kill Albus ... and then he can pass on knowing Severus will be all right. (Okay, now I'm just brainstorming.)
Ah, a mystery! A very intriguing beginning. I can't wait for more!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Yes, it is a bit of a mystery for the first few chapters indeed. I'm glad I drew you into my little tale!
Blowing the dust off books? Hermione needs to move her stock. What moves in the mundane world are the formulaic romance novels, but these need translating into a Potter-verse version. Where could we find a group of people ready, willing, and able to perform this worthwhile task?
A dark stranger becomes more interested simultaneously with rumors about Hermione being in danger. I cheated and asked some romance novel readers about his chances of being a hero or a villain.
The dark stranger can read minds. Is this a clue?
‘Strega’ is various things, including a type of liquor. The likely meaning here is a version of witchcraft different from the Celtic tradition. It began in the mid-fourteenth century (in Italy?) with the teaching of Aradia, the Holy Strega. ‘Literaria’ can mean just literary. Is ‘Strega’ a convenient title or is Hermione at odds with her Celtic companions?
Altogether, a well constructed opening chapter.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
As always, your reviews are thought-provoking,
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
.
Strega Letteraria, very simply, means Literary Witch. ;)
I hope you like what is up and coming. But you didn't say, what are the chances of the dark stranger being a hero or villain?
Sir Catogan and I are looking forward to the next chapter to see where you take this. We have a sneaking suspicion that the Stranger is Severus Snape, though of course, we could be wrong.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
*lol* I'll keep you guessing in the upcoming chapters, I am pretty sure. I'm glad you're looking forward to the next chapter!
Oooooooooo...GREAT BEGINNING!!!It's Severus isn't it!! Oh wow!! WHERE HAS HE BEEN?? HURRY WITH AN UPDATE, can't wait for more!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Is it? Are you so sure?
Excellent beginning! Not to mention a intrigueing start to what I'm sure will be a awesome story.
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
Thank you very, very much!
It is one of my dreams to own once a bookshop, alas I know that they are horribly hard to run. It's a difficult business, with very low marges... So I enjoy it very much to read about a Hermione who owns my dream.About the stranger, I peaked at the categories, so I'm not that innocent and I have an inkling (but it could be wrong), but I will not spoil the pleasure...Thank you for the story, I'm looking forward to the next chapter!
Response from notsosaintly (Author of Strega Letteraria)
I've often thought about how nice it would be to own a bookshop. But then, I never could see how some of the independent ones made a go of it.
I'm happy that you are liking the story so far. I hope I can keep you guessing as to who the Stranger is!
