Right. I would like to state, for the record, that I WILL finish "She Married Her Choice". I will. Assuming I am in control of my own destiny and accomplishments, that is. ;-)
Unfortunately, real life (mainly an attention craving three-year-old) and inspiration have been keeping me from creative endeavors for a while now. I do foresee a time when that shall pass, but until then, I ask for your patience.
Thank you!
Reviews for She Married Her Choice
Damn the review didn't stick. So here it is. I loved the sweetness of the last chapter. Severus can be killer charming when he wants to be.
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Killer charming, just plain a killer... he is many many things, all wrapped up in a nice, delectably grumpy package. :-)
Thanks!
I always feel at odds with Hermione, as if I wish I were there to smooth things out with everyone. This story has revealed very beautifully that not every protagonist is the extension of myself and that I need to sprout more backbone in emotional dealings. I like this story a great deal and I wish you the very best in finding where it needs to go.
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Hermione feels a bit at odds with herself, if it's any consolation. :-) Thank you!
How is one to judge OOC when within the story written, the 'C' is falling in love? I think a waltz down hidden corridors was extremely romantic. Yes, ooc, but who knows what the light-hearted might do with his lady fair in an unobserved moment!
It was nice to read a chapter where the tide had shifted to all of the moments between HG & SS being positive and the disagreement was with the once-perfect Nott.
Severus' life has changed with the addition of Hermione in it, so why not a change [slight alterations] in his character? He's not made of nor written in stone.
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Exactly. I just put the note in there to stave off any unreasonable critics. :-D
Severus is slowly catching on to what Hermione needs, and Hermione is slowly figuring out what Severus needs, and how she can fulfill those needs. So yes, their relationship is liable to get better as they go through this polite phase. Nott, meanwhile... yeah.
Thank you!
If Severus can't show his tenderer side to Hermione, then who?? This is sooo sweet and romantic--they're courting. *bills and coos*
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Exactly what I think! Thank you!
Amanda sounds like a doll - I'm looking forward to seeing more of her, perhaps even at Lucius' trial. And I'm still hoping Hermione and Severus end up living in the same quarters soon. They could have Gil and Cora as their dinner guests! Thanks for the new chapter; we'll have to sacrifice some chocolate truffles to your muse...
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Amanda is a doll. She and Hermione will get along famously when they actually meet (which probably won't happen in the story, but you never know).
Although Hermione and Severus will be visiting each others' quarters more frequently after this, they won't be living together by the end of the story. It being the school year... it's just awkward.
Thank you for the review, June!
Response from June W (Reviewer)
they won't be living together by the end of the story
(thud....) sequel, then?
I was happy to recieve this update finally and I hope to recieve another update soon. I am looking forward to reading about Lucius trail.
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Lucius' trial might be a bit of an anti-climax, as the trial itself isnt terribly important to the story. I hope I'll be able to keep up this schedule of updating once a month, but I hesitate to promise even that. Real life beckons, alas. ;-)
Thank you!
Severus is trying so hard. I hope Hermione is patient and gives him sufficient encouragement.
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Yes, he is trying hard. The real progress to their relationship will be made when he stops trying, though. Hermione is becoming much, much more patient, and trust me, every move he's made since their talk has been encouragement. Severus is a keen observer, after all.
Thanks!
I'm so glad to see an update on this story! I hope this means the muse for this story is back and we'll be seeing updates regularly. Snape may be OOC in this chapter, but I'm fond of him nonetheless.
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
My muse is still rather spotty, but I know exactly what has to happen in the next chapter, and pretty much what's needed in the chapter after that, so that should help, right?
Thank you!
Oh to be young, idealistic and selfrightous. I'm so glad I'm over it. It's so obnoxious. How did anyone stand me? Time and life experiece humbles a person though. Just think of all the things that happen that you, that you would have sworn you'd never allow, if anyone told you in advance. It does teach one mercy and humility. Although I must confess, I'm feeling annoyed by Hermine non the less.
Bad breastlady! Bad dog! Bad! Go lay down!
Well, finally things are going a bit more smoothly! I thought I was going to poke my eye out with all the angst. I hope this isn't a set up to get my guard down and then slam me with another huge misunderstanding and other stupid behavior. I really like it exceedingly better when these two are getting along.
Gods I'd hate to be these two! All the mind games would have me jumping off the astronomy tower. I think drugs and intensive cognative therapy are in order. Can one blast one's own head off with one's own wand? It couldn't be any more painful than this relationship is. Severus wants to keep his secrets. Fine. Ground rules please. Trying to read his mind is bullshit or suicide, depending if you speaking metaphorically or physically.
What now? Hermione is so stupid. Obviously she's somewhat aware of the whole Teddy issue and Snape. Why doesn't she make her life easier by acting like a married woman. How does she know Snape might not want to be chased a little bit? This relationship is growing tiresome. I'd swear she was 15 years old by the way she behaves. Would she let 2 days go by without checking on Harry or Ginny? If I was Severus I'd be thinking she wasn't interested in developeing a relationship with me at all. Not only does she not treat him like a husband, she doesn't even treat him as nicely as she treats her friends. While she's been very irritated about it, he has made it clear she wants to be with her. I'd really like to womp her upside the head then take her husband away from her. She's not worthy.
Can Hermione ever learn to be upset at the situation without being upset with Severus all the time for taking the actions that are the most pragmatic? Why was she upset at Severus for blowing smoke up the old walrus' arse? He was working the system and she's damned lucky he knows how. One minute she's taking offense at everything then the next second she's telling Lucius she forgives him. She's crazy.
She also needs to learn to stop playfully slapping everybody. In the adult world that isn't acceptable behavior. I don't know how Severus stands her. I suppose now he has dibs on her and just has to wait for her to grow up. He obviously knows how to bide his time. When she's finally tolerable to be around she'll aready be his and he won't have to worry about her falling for Teddy or some other boy in the interim.
I know she doesn't mean anything by it, but I wish Minerva would see the interations she has with Teddy and school her in proper behavior for adult women who shouldn't appear to be flirting. It isn't a fun lesson to learn; I had to learn it the hard way from the comments of others, but I wasn't married to Severus Snape. I was married to someone who wasn't the jealous type. Now that she has seen his reaction to she and Teddy holding hands she hopefully will remember to be more sensitive to his feelings in these matters.
And, what the hell's Draco's problem. I mean he has plenty of reasons to be unhappy, but he seems to be leaning toward the dark side a little more this chapter.
Grgh........cliffhanger bad. Make me want to chant about author...need more soon...please.
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Oh, come on... this is nothing compared with the last one (or *cough* the one coming up). I will update soonish, though, I promise. Just need to put the finishing touches on the next chapter! Thanks.
Oh, that's just disturbing, though not unexpected. I always believed that Hermione's efforts in this area would come back and bite her in the bum! More than anything, though, the house-elves' reaction is really very funny. Thank goodness Dobby came back!
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Oh good! I'm glad someone found it funny! (Yes, I have a dark sense of humor.) There are many fics where Hermione has given up SPEW for some reason contrary to her nature. I figured I could come up with a valid reason. Dobby's a good elf, but more than anything, I couldn't let Hermione die like that. That would be cruel.
Thank you!
My, Hermione is prickly! Annoyed with Severus for reminding her of her argument with Teddy? She really needs to lighten up. I'm thinking that girl could use some prozac or something. She seems to be looking for the insult in every phrase except with Ginny and Harry. She also expects too much of others, like expecting them to read her mind, for example.
Now, I'll admit that when I was a young bride, if I had to ask for a hug or comfort when I was crying, then I didn't want it because I had to ask. I'm so glad that girl grew up. Now if I need a hug I just ask for one and he is better about remembering to give hugs at the right times. Yes, I guess young women do expect men to read their minds. I am positive I've cured my husband's desire to ever want to be trained for spousehood by a woman ever again, should I slip on a bananna peel. I don't know that I'm up to training another husband either. I would be so very lonely without my husband after all these years, but another man wouldn't fill the void. I've been married to this man for almost 2 times longer than I was alive before I married him. We are companions and mated to one another for life. That is just too much damn work to establish again. I'd have to lose weight and find someone for booty calls. That would be nice. The little guy has been broken for years. TMI?
Ooh, glowworms.... neat piccy! And cool way for her to get out of the cavern, although it should be added to Harry's map somehow. So where is Lucius? Poor Hermione, getting whapped - but Dobby to the rescue saved her! Did Dobby find Harry? Is Severus searching for her? Thanks for the new chapter!!
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Aren't they cool? They're as magical as fireflies. I'm sure the cavern and the tunnel will be added to Harry's map when Hermione gets around to telling Harry about it. And although Hermione's main trials with Lucius are over, he's not banished from this tale yet. The answers to just about all your current questions will come be in chapter 7 - 8 or so.
Thank you for the review!
omg all that in one day, man the way they turned on her unfair!
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
Yeah. Fortunately for her, her week is winding down, so this will be the last hellish day. Fair has nothing to do with it...
scary house-elves ! Do you plan to make come through some other trials ? Don't you think she's had enough ?
Response from averygoodun (Author of She Married Her Choice)
A mob of anything, be it house-elves, people or puffskiens, is scary. Her trials are nearing an end, or at least the extreme trials. Marriage to Severus is a trial in itself.
Hermione's prickly temperment with Severus is becoming annoying. The poor man can barely say a word or make a jesture that doesn't annoy her, make her defenssive or piss her off. All of the things he said to her when she thought she saw Malfoy, would have been exactly what Harry and Ginny would have said and it would not have made her so mad coming from them.
She really needs to get over herself. If I was Severus I would be afraid to say a word and would be starting to find her very tiresome. I guess he was right to kick her out while she grows up a little more. She isn't ready for an adult relationship. She has too much girly, PMS-y, always butt hurt, hormonal energy.
This is her life now. She needs to decide to make it work because no matter how she got here the fact of the matter is; this is where she is and he is her future. She better start putting a bit more energy into learning to love the man.
I infact, did not marry someone I was in love with. I married the best husband and chose to love him. I has sexyer options available to me, but I looked at the long road and who I could picture still treating me well in 80 years. Who I felt would still love me if I got fat, and who I knew would take care of me if I got cancer. And most importantly, who would never try to boss me. Hermione didn't go for the guy who never tries to boss you. But he had other gifts she saw were worthy. Now look at the good in the man! It's a choice you make every morning and every night and he does the same. I'm on 33 years in June.
I got engaged at 17 and married at 18. Being just a girl, I hadn't seen that he was messy, had no ambition and delt with business with a slack hand until after the wedding.
I was a total bitch until I was 26 and realized he wasn't just being stupid and lazy on purpose to piss me off and that he knew it too. It's just that what I thought were universal truths of life like balancing ones check book and keeping the lawn well groomed apparenlty weren't universal.
He looks at the world from a brain I still can't fathom. But he loves me very much and that over rides everything else. He tries to mow more often just to please me and trys to handle money better.
I still had a temper, but worked on it through the years and then I found Welbutrin. Welbutrin makes staying angry all the time too much work. We never fight anymore. He is still the same guy he alway was and I was sure I would leave him when the kids grew up but he got more mature at around 40. Now he's 57 and I've grown rather attached to him, after all.
If I was Severus and I watched those two, I would be a putrid color of green with jealousy! (or maybe scarlet). She seems able to take jokes from Nott that she would be very offended by if Severus had said the same thing. Girls may be able to be "friends" with boys, but young men are not "friends" with young women without interest of another kind somewhere in there. Being a man, Snape would also know this and would interpret Hermione's and Nott's behavior as flirting and so would everone else watching them smile and laugh and forget the time together. I'm rather surprised that Severus hasn't been spying. In real life, this new friendship would not bode well for Hermione and Severus' relationship. Of course, at Hermione's age I would have never known nor believed it for a second if someone had brought it up to me.
Hermione is only putting off the inevitable. I think the longer she stays away the more hurt feelings Severus will have. He isn't afraid of her powers.
So... When Minerva got angry at the mention of Greorge Lucus? (The sound of airplane going over my head). I wonder if Severus will be jealous of Nott. Hermione hasn't apparently thought about the joys of converstation with her highly intelligent husband and how he might help her with her homework. They could spend more time getting to know each other that way. As it is, between he teaching and her classes, homework and study "group", when will they have more time to develope an understanding? I also doubt she plans on discontinuing seeing Harry and Ginny socially. When will she spend quality time with Severus? In the long picture, Severus may end up a very happy man, but until Hermione graduates, he is married to a school girl. It will be frustrating for him to have a mate who has not yet reached mature womanhood. I hope he can keep his temper for his own sake. He is well aquainted with putting off his own enjoyment, but it may be hard to wish for a mature relationsip with his wife on a level she is too young to offer yet. She does have more life experience than the average 7th year, but she is still a teenager. And he may have a lot more life experience than most anyone, he has yet to learn what some men seem to only learn for the bennefit of the second wife.
Hermione needs to get over herself. It is funny about the house elves. It isn't funny to be afraid of them, because she has good reason, but it is funny in an ironic way she should be able to see, that she had caused a house elf rebellion. And Spew is funny. She should have the good grace to say, "well I was only a 3rd year. I should have come up with something more clever." She needs a calming draft too. If she wanted to be ethical, she would have drank one right on the spot so that she and Severus would be on equal footing and have the discussion without risking hexing each other. Silly Girl. I'm surprised Severus didn't suggest it.
