I'm afraid not.  I read "Hitchhikers [...]" many, many years ago, but I never had a chance to read his subsequent works.  The prompt I was given involved Hermione not understanding some aspect of the wizarding world, and the only thing that came to mind was flying (although I think she understands it - she just doesn't like it).  But then I thought about Snape flying without a broom and it seemed like the perfect solution.  Unfortunately, I hadn't really considered the problems I'd encounter when trying to actually WRITE how such a thing could be accomplished.  I actually struggled quite a bit with how he could teach her, and how she could learn.  I rather wish I *had* read the book you mentioned, as it might have made the process a bit easier!Personally, I think it's more Bridget Jones's Diary than anything else, although that certainly wasn't the inspiration, either.  The embarrassing situations just keep happening to poor Hermione, and they're not over yet.  :DThanks so much for leaving a review!

Goodness, I snorted aloud (SOL?) when I read your first sentence!  It's nice to know she has a future in the circus if her job at the Ministry doesn't work out.  You're absolutely right about the embarrassment factor in this fic - I have no idea how that happened.  I just couldn't seem to stop myself from turning her into a sort of magical Bridget Jones!  Ah well, at least she has a Darcy-ish Snape who seems interested in her.  Thanks so much for the funny review - I really appreciate it!
