So glad you liked that twist - I thought it would be nice for him to have one powerful figure actually looking out for his best interests (for a change). And sorry, only one more chapter. I was writing to the giftee's prompt, and so I stopped when I felt as if I'd fulfilled it (which is still 25,000 words greater than what I'd intended to write, LOL!!). I'm glad Severus has such a good friend, though, really, his threat was unnecessary, right? I'm looking forward to the last chapter.

Well, she wasn't supposed to open it until he could arrive and explain it. He employed the standard male forethought ability (or inability) here. :-)
I do so love this story and could so see that scene you've described! Poor Hermione - my heart went out to her; Lavender is so out of order!My heart lept when she got the flowers but I might have guessed they'd be from Mr. 'Smoothie' Malfoy of course!
Still, Severus sending her knickers has got to be a good sign! (A lot sexier than flowers actually although, if their previous encounters are anything to go by, they probably will last no longer than fresh roses!) He should have sent them to her flat though, rather than her workplace. For a Potions master he can be a bit dim at times can't he?! But, then again, I'd forgive him anything!! :-)

I'd forgive him an awful lot, too. I'm sure you've noticed that despite his brilliance with all things wizarding, I've written him as a rather typical male in this fic (with typical lack of forethought, sending knickers to the workplace). Not entirely fair, perhaps, but it was fun to play with the dichotomy of extreme intelligence in one area and extreme cluelessness in another. :-) Thanks so much for the review and stars! I apologize for taking so long to respond ... RL has kicked my butt lately. I am actually sitting in my father's hospital room at the moment (thanks to free WiFi in the hospital), since he had bypass surgery on his heart (5 bypasses) a few days ago. Not fun. :-(

Heh - It helps that this was written back in November, for the Exchange. I was polishing the chapters a bit before posting, but otherwise managed to get them loaded pretty fast. If only I could post updates to my other WIP this quickly!
Funny as that was to read, if someone like Lavender did something like that to me, I'd be ready to kill them.

the lingerie was slowly pulled from the face of Kingsley Shacklebolt, who clearly wasn’t amused. Well, there's something you don't see every day! And neither does Shacklebolt, I'll bet... After surviving the war with Voldemort, having a pair of silk undies smack you in the face just isn't expected at all! Of course, knowing Severus, he'll probably tell Hermione that since she seems to have such terrible luck with her knickers she should probably stop wearing them altogether. I'm sure he only has her best interests at heart.Love this story more and more with every chapter! I'll be sorry to see it end.
