Sigh. Poor Severus. He's just not a happy camper.Clearly he needs the love of a good smart highly intelligent, deeply moral woman. Hmm. I wonder where he might find one of those?
I loved this chapter. I don't really read "re-telling" type stories and almost avoided this one. That said, I am so glad I started this tale. It is original in it's point of view and the Vector scene as well as the Quidditch scene was new and compelling. I am happily going to carry on with this tale and am looking forward to see where it all goes. Off to continue reading. I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying this.

It's a fine line with "re-telling" stories: too little new material and there's no narrative impulse, too many repeated scenes and the whole thing becomes boring. I tried really hard to avoid such traps, but I know it's not always everybody's cup of tea.I just had such a strong impulse to reshape the story the way I WISH it had gone. :) Im glad to hear that you're finding it worthwhile so far. And thanks, too, for taking the time to say so.
Would it be shallow of me to admit I enjoyed Hermione's POV just because its a lighter tone than Snape's? Her x-hippie parents, lesbian relatives, and fuck buddies kept a smile on my face the whole way thorugh.

Not everyone can be as miserable and bitter as Snape is all of the time ;) I like my Hermione as a child of the modern world. After all, it was Christmas of 1996! :)
Hello!! I'll be reading over here from now on. I expect you dont mind as long as there is a review left! Ha! Did we already know that bit about Vicktor and Hermione becoming lovers after they broke up? Makes it all seem so deliberate. I can understand why Severus is prickly. Poor guy. Hehehe. It's true, you're usually VERY good about no evil cliffies. And honestly, the cliffie is what builds excitement, so I'm all for it. In fact, I'm usually a total whore for cliffhangers in my writing ^_^ So hurray! I can't wait for the next chapter!

I love Vector's characterization, and the cliffie took me a bit to work out, but I think I got it . . . I'll let you know. Fascinating story.

This really is an excellent story. Professor Vector is especially well-drawn. She's a character that never gets much attention and you have created a well-drawn and fascinating individual. Also the descriptions of arithmancy are intriguing. I'm really enjoying this!

OK, I actually tried this with my husband so I had a good feel for her position. Right knee into lower part of rib cage should loosen the hold then a far head but to the nose. Done with enough force the results would be broken ribs, broken nose and she can also follow up with a stomp onto the knee cap which would prevent him being able to get up and chase her.

AGGHHHH!Is there a writer's conspiracy out there this week? Seems like just about every story I've read in the past few days ends with a cliff. I guess Hermione and Severus are up for a little 'chat' now. If this IS Snape, he deserves to have his nose broken. Again. I'm honestly hoping it isn't someone like Dolohov. I like the way you've used Vector in this story. It makes sense and I've only read two others where she played an integral role via her calculations. But allowing her to be a second mentor and support to Hermione is great.Anyway, great update.
