You will definitely learn Snape's reaction in the next chapter, don't worry about that! Thanks for the review! :)
Wow, great chapter!!! Can't wait for more!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! Hopefully I should add the next chapter the queue in a couple of days.
How is going to react?!?!?! Hopefully in a good way *grins*
Look forward to more.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
You'll find out his reaction in the next chapter, never fear . . . ;)Thanks for the review!
I love Severus. The tension you've built in him almost jumps off the page!!!!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you! I'm glad to know that is coming across. Thanks again!
Whoops. LoL. That was a little embarrassing. Wonder what he was thinking when she kissed him. At least he didn't yell...actually, nevermind, that may have been less disturbing. Looking forward to the next chapter. Great story!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
:) Thanks! You'll find out exactly what Snape thinks about it in the next chapter, I promise! I think you're right about the yelling, it would have been much less disturbing . . . ;)
Oops. A little misjudgement there! :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
So it seems! ;) More fun for the readers, though . . . :)
What the hell was she thinking, to kiss Snape?! I wonder how he'll react. This story is excellent!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! Poor Hermione, she got a bit carried away, I think! :)
I guess she didn't get to deliver her message about Viktor.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Nope, I'm sorry to say that she got distracted . . . I'm sure she'll work out some other way to let him know, though. Thanks for the review!
That was an excellent chapter. But really, Hermione must have a deathwish? Snape and mistletoe? Hee.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! She got a bit carried away, didn't she? :)
Jocelyn's breakthrough was nicely done. I wonder why Dumbly doesn't seem too happy about it?
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! Dumbledore found himself having to confront old demons regarding his sister, Arianna.
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
Oh, yeah! Fogot about her.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Easy to do, particularly since I was writing the scene from Severus' POV, and he would have had no idea what was going on. I admit I was feeling a little vindictive towards Dumbledore when I wrote the scene: he's always so ready to make Severus feel guilty for his past actions and I wanted him to feel a little inadequate at the realisation that Severus had succeeded where he had once failed.
Has Dumbledore got Alzheimers or something similar, or is the curse turning everything malignant?
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Dumbledore was shocked by the fact that Severus was able to save someone who was blocking because of the history with his own sister, Arianna, who died of a similar cause. Thanks for the review. :)
What the devil is going on with Albus? I am pleased with Severus' success in relationship to Jocelyn, but I am sure he will continue to ponder what exactly Hermion said to her.Well done.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Poor Albus is having to face up to his own inadequacies. Reading DH I couldn't believe how manipulative Dumbledore was to Severus about his past misdeeds, when it turned out that Dumbles himself had plotted to be the magical world's Hitler and was hugely responsible in the death of his sister. So, hearing that SS has saved someone who is blocking, I imagine, might leave Dumbledore feeling a little guilty.
He will never admit to that Hermione actually is one good thing that makes working at Hogwarts pleasurable, stubborn man. Good chapter. I've being dying to ask, is this eventual SS/HG ?Look forward to more.

Eventually, eventually: yes. And that will start becoming more apparent, but it's a slow-moving romance. Thanks for the review. :)
Talk about the pot and kettle syndrome when it comes to hiding things - Severus touched a nerve with Dumbledore when he disclosed the fact that he was successful in helping a student unblock. What was Dumbledore's sister's name? Arianna?Anyway, I am very pleased that Hermione and Jocelyn were able to find something that relaxed the poor girl enough to get her started on the path to recovery. Too bad the professionals that deal with abused victims can't share memories like Snape did with Miss Smith to build trust and empathy.I like that Severus has a more positive outlook on dealing with Hermione and her intelligence. He's pushing her for the right reasons now.Once again, you've managed another seamless connection with canon. Nice work and great update. Next, please???~

Arianna it was! Thank you for such a lovely and thoughtful review. :) I just added the next chapter to the queue, so it won't be too long.
I'm glad little Jocelyn will be alright. I particularly enjoyed the bit with Severus grading! LOL
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you! I particularly enjoyed coming up with some comments for Severus to write :)
and so the two muggle borns come together. I cannot imagine how difficult it was for Snape to have to ask for help. I am glad Hermione is an intelligent witch and can connect the dots even when the path is not linier
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Yes, I can't imagine that Snape asks for help very often! Thank you for the review.
I liked the reasoning in your author's note. I have to day I agree with the way your mind is working.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you! There were so many loose ends about Muggle-borns in DH that really bothered me, and the Ariana storyline was one of them. It seems logical (if awful) to me, that violence would be something relatively common among Muggle-born witches and wizards. Anyway, thanks for reviewing.
You did that well! :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! :)
i'm so glad those two got together. i think our hermione can help her. lovely update. thanks so much
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much for a lovely review. :) I think Hermione might have something useful to impart.
Oooh, a brilliant background to explain blocking. And Hermione to help? Ooh, this should be interesting! Keep the chapters coming!
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much! :) The next chapter is already in the queue, so it shouldn't be too long. The plot only gets more complicated from hereon in, I'm afraid . . .
you are doing such a wonderful job with your story arcs - I am really enjoying your work - thanks for sharing
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you very much -- for the review in general and the specificity of these comments in general. I spent a lot of time planning the story out, because I wanted it to fit with the events of HBP, but not repeat things to the extent that it was boring or didn't have a plot line of its own.
Hermione will be such a brilliant confidante for Jocelyn. Severus is wonderful, but I think the little one is more likely to warm up to kindness from Hermione first. It's like their new parents. *grin*Unique take on bonding the two of them!! =]
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you! It seems that Severus has started to think about Hermione in a sense that is quite different from the way he's thinking about Jocelyn . . . interesting, no? ;) Thank you for the review.
Brilliant update, I am a bit surprised that Hermione is jelous at someone so young as Jocelyn, but then again I can understand that she do want her "special" time with Severus to be special for him too, meaning no others...:-) I really hope she will be able to help Jocelyn though.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
Thank you, thank you! Ah, yes, it's early days yet. Right now, Hermione just wants his attention, and she'd just been feeling so happy that he had called her "Granger" and not "Miss Granger" . . . ;)
See, Granger, he is human at times. :)
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
But, of course! ;)
I really like Vector's involvement in all this. She's a great character and it's nice to get a glimpse of what she's like. Hopefully, Hermione can help Jocelyn. She was quick, as usual, to understand what was troubling the young girl.
Response from grangerous (Author of Phoenix Song (or, Hermione Granger and the H-B P))
I'm so delighted that you like Prof. Vector, I'm very fond of her. In my experience mathematicians can be such interesting (if unusual) people that I feel sure Arithmancers would fall into a similar category.Thank you for such a lovely review! :)
