Reviews for A Kind Of Magic
So typical of him to throw her out. Just talk to her, man!! Hopefully, Sarah is smart enough to understand that she will have to make him talk.A beautiful, very touching chapter, despite the dark ending./M

It's so horrible for them both. But Severus always goes on the offensive when hurt. Old habits die hard.
She's catching on fast! :)
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
The transference of his powers has left an imprint.
It's so sweet to see them growing closer. Her magic is quite extraordinary. Her continued training should be quite fun for all involved.
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Thank you, the development of her powers was extraordinary. DD will get chance to ruminate on this in the next chapter.
Uh, oh, you have her learn Expelliarmus and even a Patronus already now? I fear she'll need them sooner than anyone could expect. Already in London? I liked her being so cautious with her wand; it truly shows the difference between an 11y old Muggleborn and an adult. I agree with you why the Thestral suits, as you commented to the first review. But was Severus really happy to have survived the war? I imagine he was furious that it wasn't over for him and did not look forward to life. Knowing Potter in possession of very intimate memories would just be a new cause of nightmares. Sarah did not change his Patronus despite a good bunch of very happy memories? This indicates that he doesn't believe in his luck, right? Too sad! But then we might see it change later? This would be a break-through!Generally, you'll have to be cautious now to not create a Mary Sue here! At least most fanfic readers/critics don't like them sideremark: As I recall it, the Expelliarmus sends the wands to the caster and not behind the victim. Does it really rattle books? Only dark ones?
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
I hope the readers don't see her as a Mary Sue - there are all kinds of things I could say, but it may ruin the next few chapters and a key happening in the plot. I just hope you will stay with it in order to discover more about her and the development of their relationship.I imagine anyone when faced with death, would wake up with a surge of relief, regardless of wether they came to ruminate on other stuff afterwards. It was this memory I was referring to, the first "I'm alive!" rush, before anything else had to time to truly sink in.I think everyone's perceptions of Severus changed after the war, and certainly in this story, the fact of him getting over Lily means he has also gotten over some of his supposed issues with The Boy Wonder. Re: Expelliarmus, maybe I am incorrect regarding the effect but the disarm is used to do just that - disarm, not summon, like Accio. And if any spell missed it's target and hit a row of books I am sure it would make them rattle! Thanks for stopping by.
You have done many wonderful things, but I want to thank you on my bare knees for making the bl**dy Doe disappear!!!hehe/M
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Thanks, hun. If the Patronus is dependent on a specific memory, and Snape has finally laid the ghost of Lily to rest, then his Patronus would indeed change. I think his new happy memory would be waking up in St Mungos, alive, with news of the death of Voldemort. That feeling of freedom and relief flooding over his aching body, the sun shining through the window heralding a new dawn... yes, that is the memory i chose for Snape and his Thestral seemed wholly appropriate, not just in terms of its association with death (which, let's face it, Snape has seen much of), but also that it is a much-maligned creature - people see them as sinister, fearful and wretched, but they are misunderstood, and actually gentle creatures. Something that we could possibly say about our dear potions master, too. Thanks for popping by.

*sniff*
Nice. Olly is covering all bases, isn't he?
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
He's a shrewd old dude. Thanks for the stars! My fave *grin*
Will she be able to try a levitation cham when Severus purrs, Wingarrrrdiumm Levioosssa in this sexy voice? This special wand makes me nervous, but I know that it is exactly what you intend, so please go on!
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
hehe, he doesn't need Wingardium Leviosa to get any of *his* things in the air, if you catch ym drift ;) As for the wand, yep it's a case of wait and see. Thanks for reviewing, means alot!
Response from Bettina (Reviewer)
I get your drift :-)However, while I love a bed scene where it fits, I'm far more curious about her learning magic and meeting other witches/wizards.
I think she is keeping him up, not the other way around... :)
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Snigger! Lucky her! Thanks for stopping by.
Lovely little 'after glow' scene. *grin* I'm a bit shocked they didn't sleep for a week! LOL I'm so curious about the wand now. I'm really looking forward to more!
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Thanks so much, so glad you're sticking with it.
His baritone, although usually sexy, now had a post-coital huskiness to it ... I was unable to concentrate on the rest of the chapter after that. What happened later? LOL
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
The word you are looking for is mwrowr ;-)
Lovely chapter. I loved her wand and how special it is.
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Thank you. It's properties are significant for later in the story.
I'm enjoying this. Hope you'll work in more Wiccan practices: esbats, sabats, etc.
Blessings to you,
Litha
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
I'm so pleased you like it! Brightest blessings to you :-)
Nice wand! Now he can show her his... ;)
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
LOL, is that a euphemism? ;)
I was shortly apalled that an intelligent being would deliver wand cores, but maybe Hagrid had asked nicely? Or is it Firenze, and he knew beforehand who would be destinned for this wand? At least we can assume that there isn't a brother-wand.A pity all shops were closed, Sarah would have been so much more impressed. Now let's see the first Wingardium Leviosar! How patient will Severus be?
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
I had imagined that Hagrid had found the hairs trapped in some brambles rather than ask such a proud and noble creature for their hair. The lessons should be interesting though!
Beautifully written. I love that Severus is distant, but still very caring. It feels like such a real position for him. Struggling against his softer, better nature. =]
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
I am thrilled you liked it. It gets even harder for the dear man!
Ah, hazel. Someone has been studying Wiccan wand lore.Lovely work, star sister./M
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
So kind, as ever x
That was lovely. I enjoyed their 'date' and I really liked Severus' compliment about her eating habits and shapely form.
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Thank you, I like to think he appreciates a real woman ;-)
It feels good to read such unhurried, no-action, just nice stuff every now and then... and how nice it was!
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Thank you, I'm so pleased you enjoyed it!
*snort* Now as I know you a little better, I just has to ask: the food and wine wouldn't be anything YOU'd like, now would it? ;-)
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Of course. I'd eat Snape's meal too for that matter!
mouthwatering!
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
I need to get hold of some of that Rioja ;)
Nice restaurant. Instant service. Choice of menus...:)
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Sure beats Madam Puddifoots!
Love the restaurant, and positively adore the way they interact. I know I say this everytime, but Sara is positively brilliant. =] Can't wait for wand shopping!
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
You are, as always, so kind, and there is so much more to come. I hope you'll stay with it x
Their inner thoughts really made this chapter. My heart just went out to Severus because of his fears. I'm sure that with time, he'll be able to put all of that past him.
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
The poor man. I just wanted to hug him too.
“You don’t have to be afraid, Severus. My love won’t hurt you,” That's a lovely sentiment. :)
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Poor guy, no wonder he is scared.
Dear me, Sarah, take it slowly!I'm relieved that Severus managed to hold her before she was off. They deserve a 4-courses meal after this much inner turmoil.A well written chapter!
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
Thank you for your comments. This sure isn't a regular coupling!
Response from Bettina (Reviewer)
Yes, this much is obvious: Wicca magic must have great powers. Just a small note besides the point of your story: > It specialises in cuisine from all around the worldHow can one "specialise" on "everything"? Aren't these contradictions? It doesn't sound like Severus to accept such a claim.
Response from star_girl (Author of A Kind Of Magic)
It probably is an oxymoron but that shows you how rubbish my writing is!
