So now he knows and he let her go. If you love something, let it go, if it comes back, it was meant to be - if not, it never was. Why would Ron get custody of the children? Is that a wizard thing?
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
Yep. Needed it for this story, will drop a few words in the next chapter, but basically, it's just that: he will get sole custody because his family has a magical background and hers hasn't.So... do you think she will come back??BTW - Thanks for reviewing ;-)

This had better not be the ending! You wicked, wicked person you! Lol. I loved this chapter. It was very nearly perfect. I'm glad Hermione reacted sensibly enough. It was wonderful that she didn't storm out. This chapter was well written with just the right amount of drama. This fic is great.

Great chapter. I have loads of questions, but I think I'll wait. I'm enjoying being surprised.

NO! NONONONONONONONONO!! She has to come back- he has to follow her! Ron has to be taken out somehow. PLEASE say it doesn't end there!
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
That's easy - it doesn't end here *g*Next chapter will go into queue. Although I have to warn her - he won't follow her and Ron will stay in the picture. Somehow. *grins evilly*Thanks for reviewing!

This certainly proves that neither of them are who they used to be. Both have changed immensely, Severus most of all. To sit and listen patiently, to not reject simply he was formerly a professor or she formerly a student... I loved this chapter most of all. ;)
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
Now that puts a tiny little bit of pressure on me, dearest ;-) I'll try not to disappoint you with the next chapters, and I primise to post the next one soon. Hugs and thanks and... you know!

Severus was bound to recognize Hermione sooner or later. I worry that he felt cold dread...creeping up his spine, forming an icy fist in his stomach. What will he do next? Will he snub her? Act as if he wishes her to go? Decide that his feelings for her a genuine and tell her about himself? What will Hermione do when she realizes that she has just made love to her Potions Professor? There are plenty of opportunities for misunderstandings and miscommunication to get in the way of their relationship, but surely they can find a way through the inevitable stumbling blocks before them. What a great story!Beth

I figured it was about time - after the love-making, I couldn't see them going on without recognising each other. Carlos is a changed man, dear. His feelings are genuine. Although... the next chapter won't end nicely ;-)Thanks for reviewing!

It's clear that Tessa has enjoyed the afternoon to herself. Perhaps she has had the time to reflect on her situation and what, if any, decision she wants to follow.Carlos is completely smitten with her and her children, and I think he is wondering what decision, if any, she wants to follow.I love your telling of the story. You write so well that I feel as if I were there, a fly on the wall.Beth

That's so lovely that you say that! I hoped I'd manage just that - show you the story and let you participate in it, sort of.Thanks for reviewing!

A time of confessions from each to the other. A walk along the beach and a sharing of minds and hearts, they have taken the next step. But what will be their step after this one?You write such hauntingly beautiful dialog! I take my hat off to you!!!Beth

Maybe she needs a different life as well, he thought. Maybe this is the reason why I have chosen her: because she needs a new life and because I can offer her a way out of her old one.Carlos is really a nice man. Sure, he has the normal needs of any man, but even though he is looking for a willing woman to take to his bed, he is not a predator.Tessa is so wounded and adrift in her life, perhaps this is what she needs, as well... someone to remind her that she is desirable. I wonder exactly what her situation is with her husband. Rose and Hugo do not seem to think it strange that their father did not come with them to the island. There is certainly a lot more here than meets the eye! Well done!Beth
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
I didn't see her as wounded before you mentioned it, and I think I must agree with you. She is more than unhappy, she is not herself anymore, and she has taken a path that's not good for her. Well. We'll see where it ends. Soon!

Thank you so much for your nice words! I can promise that the next chapter will go into queue soon, and regular updates afterwards, too. It doesn't end like that. In a way, it has only just started.

Forgot to say - Rose and Hugo are used to an absent father. And naturally, Hermione protects her children from the truth, which is that their parents' marriage is not what it should be.

I adore your Snape and Hermione! His need for the companionship of a woman doesn't extend to the maxim "at all costs." He will take what she gives him, but he knows she needs a friend and confident.Great chapter!Beth
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
Not in this story, no. *sniggers* They both changed, and he for the better. He's nice and gentle and in the end, there is only one question open: will she hurt him or not? Thanks so much for reviewing!

Oh no, how tragic. I still really don't like the Weasleys where Hermione is concerned. Molly would suck as a mother in law. Well, we all know how Ron is as a husband. It's too bad about the whole situation. Both of them have changed from their relationship. She knows what she wants from life and what she's missing. Unfortunately, so does he. Great chapter, looking forward to the next. *Had to check and make sure this wasn't the final chapter*
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
Wouldn't have been able to leave it like that, with tears in their eyes and a bunch of people scolding me badly for being so cruel :-) Next chapter will go into queue soon, lately by the end of the week. Thanks for reviewing!

I am glad she didn't reject him.You started this story with him in a state of peace. It doesn't seem as if he has returned to that state. Is that how he has changed?
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
Oh, no, he is not at peace anymore. He has fallen in love, his past has been revealed, and he thinks he will have to deal with his pain on his own. Next chapter will go into queue soon. Thanks for reviewing!

OMG. Hermione finally lets her guard down, they have a thrilling time together, and the jig is up on her disguise. Of course she will not know that. Will "Carlos" tell her he knows she is Hermione or will he back off?
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
I'm sorry, but you will have to wait for a day or two, until the next chapter is up. I promise to answer your questions there. And be aware, the next chapter won't end nicely ;-)Thanks for reviewing!

ANd, when does Hermione figure out that Carlos is Snape? Are they both wearing glamours? I figured the flower tattoo was a clever way to hide the scars from Nagini's snake bite. It's a good story -- different.
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
Actually, neither is wearing a glamour. They look as they look ten years later, with more years on their backs and daily duties and happyness and sadness taking their toll. Different haircut, different skin coulour, and yes, the scars are hidden as well as the dark mark. But that's not a glamour, but a necessity. She'll find out soon. And I'll say a few words about the tattoo. Thanks for reviewing!

Hahaha - he refused to believe it. LOL Well, refused or not, I'm glad he's figured it out because I can't wait to see what he does with this new information. Hermione however... oh my gosh. I really can't believe she just decided to cheat on Ron. I understand that it's supposed to be justified by the fact that he did it to her, but it's hard for me to see her in that light all the same. Still, I love this story and I'm real excited to see what happens next!
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
She fell in love, and she feels alive for the first time in years. Her husband cheats on her, doesn't touch her, maybe likes her still and is used to her, but doesn't love her. I think every woman only can take as much before deciding that she earns better. And it took her long enough to realise that she can't deny her own needs forever. I think it wasn't a rational decision, but her emotions and her lonelyness and her love for Carlos taking over. I might have to warn you - it gets worse. I would be glad if you'd let me know in two or three chapters wether you consider it likely what she does or not.Concerning Carlos - what you think he will do?BTW - thanks for reviewing!

He was so eager to get her and now he's about to back away because he knows who she is. At least for the moment she hadn't recognise him. I'm curious about what her reaction will be. So I'll await next chapter with great impatience.

Wonderful as usual.Thank you for the beautiful bedroom scene filled with incidental intimacies that made it lovemaking rather than straight shagging. Then trust Ron's thoughtlessness to ruin the moment.OMG! O-Oh!..."he couldn't prevent cold dread from creeping up his spine, forming an icy fist in his stomach. Hermione. This was Hermione Granger, and for one breath-deprived moment, he refused to believe it." Eek! and she still has to find out who he really is...Thank goodness the next chapter is in the queue. I am waiting with bated breath...*Slightly purple*...*going blue*....Drats have to breathe!Cheers.

Thanks, dear! But really, you can't blame Ron for ruining it - he didn't know there was something to ruin ;-)Next chapter should be up soon. Keep on breathing!

She realized that Ron and Molly were destroying her. That's definitely a good thing. But his realization is still up in the air as to whether it's good or not! Will he confront her right now? Can't wait to see.

Oh Merlin!! The gig is up, he knows who she is!! So does he change his accent on purpose so it doesn't seem like his voice, or is it unconcious? I like the realization, and the love was well written!! *Lio*
Response from chivalric (Author of At the Beach)
My mum adopts the accents of the people around her - when in Switzerland, she automatically blends in. The same with him - he's been on the island for around nine years, he talks Spanish on a daily basis, I think he would adopt an accent even when speaking English. Besides, without it, she would have probably recognised his voice ;-)Thanks so much for reviewing!
