I live in Virginia with my husband and 2 children. I make pottery, but, thanks to Harry Potter, I have rediscovered a passion for writing.

I enjoyed the way you have Snape being proficient with muggle technology because of necessity and that Hermione isn't. Normally, you would see Hermione using muggle tools.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Normally I would agree that Hermione would be the computer expert, but she has been immersed in the wizarding world for all of her adult life with no need for one. Snape, on the other hand, lives in a muggle neighborhood and lives a dual life, so a computer is a logical part of his daily routine. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Ron is one my least like characters in the HP world, so I really have no sympathy for how he's acting. I hope Hermione sees the light about him before Hugo is further hurt. With divorced parents, it really was a lot better emotionally for us when our parents separated. Naturally not at first, but eventually my parents were able to interact with us as a familiy, stepparents, half sisters and all. Hugo will be happier when his parents are happier. Especially if Ron is involved with another woman or drinking his problems away. Great story, thanks for letting me get that off my chest. LOL

Hi FlitterKat, and thanks for that very insightful review. I knew a family who was so dysfunctional that the parents would come to blows in front of the kids from time to time. Subsequently, the kids tended towards violence. Finally, after they faced the music and got a divorce, they all got along much better. The parents even became friends. The kids became much better adjusted and calm. My own parents went through some rocky times, but they stuck it out. In some ways it was good, but in other ways it was bad. I would have turned out very differently if they had split up. Not sure if I would have been better off or worse off, just very different. So I guess it depends on the people and circumstances.

A nice new chapter! It's lovely to see how positively changed Snape is, and how mature he behaves. Ron is quite the cliché husband, and in the enfolding of this tale quite understandable so - though I was a bit surprised that he relented so fast and seemingly easily.
Great that Hermione finally got a clue about Hug's problems. It will be interesting to see how she manages to find a solution for her problem ;-).
Author's Response: I think that I let Ron relent about Snape so fast because it WAS Snape. Ron is like Harry, he can't imagine how any woman could possibly find Snape attractive. Ron harbors no jealousy towards Snape. He simply can't imagine him to be a romantic rival for Hermione's heart.
This is a responce to mock-turtles review. She does not know what she is talking about. Your writing is outstanding, you are very articulate and very clear in showing the emotions of all the people in this story. You do not clutter the story with any nonsence or unwanted dialog that can bog a story down. Do not please do not change your story or writing of it for any one. Sorry I just had to sound off about this it just made me angry.

. I really appreciate the encouragement.I feel since my first fic I have grown in skill and depth, but I am certainly not a professional. I still have a lot to learn, but I know my style and what I am comfortable with. If someone doesn't like my story, they don't have to read it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I try not to take it personally when someone gets critcal. Don't worry, I couldn't change my writing style if I wanted to. It is part of who I am.

I honestly can't believe that Hermione will manage to keep this up for another one and a half years.

Don't worry, Ron will soon screw up so bad that she won't have to keep it up much longer. Thanks for your comments. The reviews keep me going.

wasn't she alone with him in the shrieking shack?
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Yes, why?
Response from mock_turtle (Reviewer)
because you're contradicting yourself: "Hermione was so excited she could hardly contain herself. Severus Snape was coming here in just a few days! Looking back, she realized that she had never once been alone with the man. Not in his class room, not in the hospital, not even in his office. The only time she suffered one of his detentions, both Harry and Ron had been with her." I would think that she would probably remember being alone with him in the shrieking shack quite vividly.

so you're saying dumbledore is the only man snape ever killed?the story feels a little bit heavy-handed, as if everything is clear-cut and simple--the emotions, the actions, the thoughts, etc.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Perhaps I am being optomistic, but JKR lead me to believe that Dumbledore was the only man that Snape ever killed. I say that because of the way Snape reacted to the possibility that his soul would be damaged when Dumbledore told him to do it to save Draco's soul.As far as your critique of my writing... This is only my second fan fic. I never said I was a professional. Otherwise, why would I be submitting stories here for your free entertainment, instead of to a publisher for money? Thanks for taking the time to comment.

No, no no the worst thing Hermione could do is wait for Hugo to enter Hogwarts. She needs to toss Ron now. I think then the potion would not be necessary because she could be happy with Severus and Hugo would flourish in a loving environment. Hmm maybe Ron could get killed at work.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Hermione will have to suffer with Ron just a little bit longer, but things get much worse for her before they get better. Just a warning... Angst and UST are my favorite scenes to write. I hope to take my readers on an emotional rollercoaster ride (with a few laughs along the way). Fasten your seatbelts! Thanks for your comments,

Can't wait to see what happens to Rita Skeeter!! I was a bit dis-heartened to hear Hermione was going to suck it up and try to make things work until Hugo's out of the house. I've seen that go badly so many times, and I doubt it can reduce the stress he's under for Hermione to have to be acting all the tiime. I'm wondering if Ron's got a 'Hobby' on the side now????
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Yes, Ron does indeed have a "hobby," and it will be discovered soon. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I'm so glad you are enjoying my little yarn...

I'm suddenly struck by the thought that, despite Ron's initial jealousy and anger, he doesn't seem to mind the time they're spending apart... almost like he doesn't need her anymore.

I do hope she changes her mind and does not stay with Ron for to long, Hugo who I believe is empatheic might pick up her unhappiness and be worse off because I think he is closer to his mom then his dad. Another great chapter funny, sad and heart-warming. Looking forward to your next chapter and when Rita gets hers.

And so the penny drops and it finally occurs to Hermione what is causing Hugo’s illness. I am surprised she decided to stay and suck it up with Ron. I would have guessed she would have left him as soon as she figured it out. Especially since that pillock is still attempting to use the book-o-manipulation on her.
What if Crooks was an animangus? Now wouldn’t that be a fun plot twist?? Can you write about that in your next story?
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I haven't planned on another Harry Potter based story yet. But your idea is worth considering.I think that Hermione has stuck it out this long because she loves Ron as a friend, and she wants what is best for her children. Often times adults believe that even though they are miserable together, the children are better off with them unhappy together than happy and apart. Unfortunately, depending on the depth of the misery, it can lead to disfunction on so many levels. Thanks for the message.

Well, there's definitely an attraction and affection forming between Severus and Hermione. I wonder what she'll do when she learns that Ron plans to cheat on her. He'll get whatever's coming to him. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

So messy! Ron is SUCH a jerk and a half. This looks like the end of their marriage--I imagine that Hermione will confront him with "the book" and tell him to hit the road. I know I would!Great story. I am eager to read more.

I am in love with your Snape!! Apologetic, romantic, still snarky to Ron! *sighs* Can't wait for the next update! Can't wait to see the romance develop! ~kizzy
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I must admit a certain amor for my Snape as well. And his sarcastic wit is part of his charm, so Ron makes a great target, since he doesn't want to hurt Hermione's feelings any more. He knows he did enough of that during their days together at Hogwarts. Thanks for your comments, kizzy. I'm so glad you are enjoying my story.

This chapter further reinforces the idea that the things we do today become the building blocks of our future. Good because if Hermione hadn't been kind to Prof Snape, he might not have been willing to help her son. I also believe if Ron truly loves Hermione, he would want to consider what she needs to be happy above what he wants from her. Great chapter, can't wait to see the next.

What goes around comes around, as they say. I truly believe that, as you might imagine.Ron will do the right thing eventually, but he makes a lot of irritating mistakes along the way. He's really not a bad guy, just misguided right now. Arthur is not the only one who has been giving him bad advice, as you'll find out in later chapters. Thanks so much for your insightful review.

Ron is going to be in a lather isnt he? Hermione was so nervous!! I wanted to pour some calming draught down her throat. I wonder if Ron will notice that Snape mentioned meds for Hugo or if he will just focus on the alleged infidelity of the lunch. I look forward to the next update.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Oh, Ron definitely noticed the meds for Hugo. And he is in quite a snit. You'll see soon enough, as the next chapter is in the queue. Thanks so much for your comments. Enthusiastic reviews like yours help to spur me on.
