I live in Virginia with my husband and 2 children. I make pottery, but, thanks to Harry Potter, I have rediscovered a passion for writing.

There is no real difference between the spells in that book, and Imperus curse, they should be made unforgiveables as well.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
They are mild versions of the Imperius, to be sure. Hermione will see to it that her daughter will never fall under those spells. Rather like a date-rape drug, they should be outlawed. Perhaps Arther should introduce legislation!

Gosh, I hope Umbridge isn't from Virginia or I might want to move.
I'm so glad you're writing this story again. I've been waiting ages. I'm glad you didn't drop it. Now you really have me wondering who is behind this. I thought it was all nicely packaged and we knew the bad guy. I guess I'll be totally surprised when it all comes out.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I am always disappointed when I watch a show or movie that is predictable. So I thought a plot twist or two was in order. We all hate Umbridge, but she was too obvious. You'll find out soon enough. Thanks for not giving up on me. I'll finish it eventually. No more year-long breaks, but there might be a couple of month-long breaks before the end. Please have patience with me. RL keeps me busy.

Someone is putting ideas in his head, after he has never had one all of his very own, now has he, and the best way to get to Ron is via his ego. Vanity thy name is Ron.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
When it comes to social niceties, Ron is definitely lacking. He does have a few redeeming qualities, which will show up later. But I agree with you. He is very insecure, having grown up in the shadow of so many amazing brothers (with the exception of Percy).

He needs to explain to hermione, why he is behaving this way, or they will be at cross purposes foever.

As you have read by now, he has explained his reasons for his lack of romantic action. I can understand his reasons, but his self control just drives me crazy sometimes!!! And I am writing this stuff!!

Wow. Just discovered this story, it's brilliant! Looking forward to seeing who's really behind the plot.

I hope that Molly can keep Hugo healthy, untill this whole mess { ie Ronnikins } is sorted.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
The best thing that could happen to Hugo is for Hermione and Ron to break up. He will get better, I promise.

Yes, he is passionate. Now he needs to get his passionate hands (and veritaserum) on Fudge. Just sayin'....Ready for the next chapter. O-B-V-I-O-U-S-L-Y
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Not sure when I'll get that next chapter up. It is written, but posting is a process that takes some uninterrupted time (for me anyway). I'll try to get in the queue next week. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

oh dear. Poor things. What a cruel world! I hope they get that horrible Umbridge!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Yes, the world can indeed be cruel. Keep your hopes up. All is not lost.

Just stopping in for a moment to say that I am finally finding the time to retread this, and I have been thoroughly enjoying this so far. I thought I would fly through being anxious to get to the new ones you've posted, but I am loving this story all over again. I hope you continue to post on a regularish basis.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I am trying my best to post in a regularish basis, as you say. RL keeps me busy, but I keep plugging away at this story. It will come to its inevitable conclusion sooner or later. Thanks for sticking with me.

What a surprising turn of events! I will look forward to how you untangle this, I have absolutely no idea who might be behind the campaign.

brrr, I have just showered, and now I feel like needing another shower. Toads are slimy. She is not only not behind these machinations, but she was not after Snape either?? Odd that! OR then.. someone has wiped her memory before Severus got hold of her. Yes, that could be it. She certainly didn't like him at Hogwarts as he was opposing her openly. Severus forgot to ask her about her role in the war--maybe he could have identified an inconsistency?Enough speculation. Thanks for a great, if confusing, chapter.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I actually like toads, but Umbridge is another animal all together. All of your questions will eventually be answered. Thanks for reading and sticking with me.

PEER PRESSURE? NOT A BAD GUY? How old is he, 12, what kind of "coaching" makes a man turn on his child, Hermione is a muggle born, so what does that mean for Rose and Hugo, they are not pure bloods are they. Everyone has choices to make in life, Ron doesn't have the guts to do this on his own, so blames someone else for what he does. What will he do if his "coach" decides Rose and Hugo's blood so polluted, by Hermiones "mudblood" they need to be eliminated.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Don't worry, no one will be eliminated in this story. All will work out in the end. The fun is in the ride, although right now it is quite rocky for our heroine and her children.

Sorry, a child in pain makes my blood boil, I didn't mean to go off on such a rant.

You can safely say, that I am not a fan of Rons, I have always thought of him as an insecure prat, that rides on the coatailes of those around him. If he had been sorted into Slytherin he would have been Draco Malfoys right hand man, and taken the dark mark at the same time. Having said that, I'm still having trouble with his behaviour here, Hermione is not only his wife, but has been his friend from the age of eleven, they fought together side by side in time of war, how can he treat her this way? It can't be her blood status, he has always known that, and Harry is a half blood, and married to Ginny. The Wealseys fought against Voldermort, and all he stood for, Fred died for it, so how can he now turn around and torture his wife and his children this way? It makes me think that there is something else going on, either some sort of mental illness, or a spell. Sorry to have gone on for so long, your story does tend to provoke a very passionate response in your readers.

Hi Mick42,Thank you so much for your many thoughtful reviews. As I write this, I'm sure by now that you understand Ron's motives. He seems to be a real villan in this chapter, but he just wants to keep his family together, and he has followed bad advice toward this end. When I started this story, I never dreamed of the heated responses I would receive. I really hit some raw nerves with many people, who, like me, hate injustice and prejudice.I appreciate you taking the time to review. I'll respond to them all, even though many of the questions you ask have already been answered as you continued to read.

Good thing Herms isn't as headstrong as Harry or Ron--otherwise she might have just showed up at Severus' place in the all-together after his e-mail. I suspect both Fudge and the Toad. Tho' I am hoping very vile and perhaps life-ending things happen to the Toad. I never thought she was suitably punished by JKR.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Oh, I agree with you there. The Toad should have done time in Azkaban. Instead, she's still at the Ministry wreaking havock! It is soooo not fair. Thanks for your insightful review (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

<quivers lip> *snerf* Poor Severus. He is going to be so upset.

His heart is breaking right now, just like Hermione's.

It's good that Hermione is starting to realise, the true cause of Hugo's illness, but keeping the peace with Ron, isn't going to work, it's not only the verbal fights, that are affecting him, but the emotional atmosphere as well.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Very true. Parents sometimes don't realize that verbal abuse and yelling can cause as much or more damage than physical abuse.

Everything was going so well, untill Ron showed up. I think the colour of his hair, has seeped into his brain, what in Merlin's name possessed him to draw his wand on SEVERUS SNAPE?!!! he was lucky to be able to walk away, with only a sore hand.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
You are right about that! My Severus has mellowed with age, but he still has a temper, and some excellent wand skills. Ron's ego was cut down a peg or two, I'd say. That's all Severus really wanted to do.
Response from mick42 (Reviewer)
His mouth always was more deadly, than his wand.

The "Weasle mind,y" view of life is a little creepy, if a women doesn't love you, then it's ok to cast a spell to change her mind, she doesn't want more children, then force her by law.I'm shocked that Harry knew obout the book, and didn't think to warn Hermione .
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
There are many reasons Harry would want to stay out of their love life. For one thing, he was given a book, too. Perhaps he didn't realize how deep Ron would stoop to get Hermione to marry him. Thanks for the review.

Great chapter, love the emails and letters.

Thanks. Some probably feel that they wouldn't resort to such Muggle rubbish, but I believe that they are both smart enough to use whatever they think will work. Why not have the best of both worlds?

The cedit card didn't say where they meet, and Snape surely knows to keep Hermione at distance if he so choses. I'm thoroughly appaled of the wizarding world and esp disappointed in Dumbledore. What the heck did he discuss with Severus? Did Umbridge also hide a few pieces of evidence in Snape's favour and enjoy seeing him convicted? She certainly never liked him. As the only, or maybe the prime school of wizarding Britain, Hogwards certainly has to keep up a reputation, but limiting whom teachers socialise with does go ruddy far. They'll soon have to look for a new Charms teacher I wager (hope).
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I tried to look at the school situation from a parent's POV. Being a Death Eater is like the Muggle version of Organized Crime. Would you want your child's teacher rubbing elbows with a convicted mob boss on a regular basis? Especially if the child were in a boarding school and that teacher had access to your child 24-7?As for Umbridge... you'll just have to keep reading. :)Thanks for your thoughtful review.

what a sad time for everybody we love. Hopefully Umbridge will soon get justice and a lot of problems will be solved. I am sad that the wizard world are sush wimps, where are all the old ordermembers?
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Most of the old order members are dead, or they have gotten on with their lives. And the fewer people who know about their research, the better. Thanks for sticking with me. The reviews keep me going.

The perfume is a perfect touch, I hope Hugo responds well, and starts to feel better, then Hermione can work on the cause, { her realaitonship with Ron }.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Thanks. I am very particular about perfumes. Not just any will do. I can understand Snape's aversion to the one Rob chose for her.

Poor Hugo,so many people stay together '' for the children'' and do so much damage. Severus to the rescue again. Ron's behaviour is beneth contempt,no better than date rape.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I agree. I once knew a couple who stayed together for the children's sake, but their fighting would come to blows! They wondered why the kids picked fights with others in school! Finally they got a divorce, and everyone was much better off. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
