I live in Virginia with my husband and 2 children. I make pottery, but, thanks to Harry Potter, I have rediscovered a passion for writing.

Poor Hugo. It really sucks to be the kid in this kind of situation. Who ever is giving Ron advice deserves to be strung up right next to him. Obviously they have no clue or care about Hugo and Rose's feelings. Please tell us they pay in a big way. Love what you're doing with the story, can't wait for the next chapter.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Who is the guilty advice giver? Think pure-blood...Yes, Hugo is stuck in the middle, just like so many children in real life. But he won't have to endure this mess for much longer. Snape really does have a plan.

My God, okay, I'm re-reading Halfblood Prince right now, and find myself wishing Ron would go ahead and die from the poisoning, after reading your version of him! LOL Great work on writing a nail-biter!! I can't stand it....(code for enjoying very much)
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I wrote another story where people die, but in this one, everyone lives. Don't worry, Ron will get what he deserves eventually.I'm glad you "can't stand it." Thanks for leaving a comment.

Didn't anyone wonder where Crookshanks went? I have a sneaky suspision that Arthur is behind alot of this. Arthur and George were berating Ron for not keeping everything discreat??? I hope you let us in in this soon.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Arthur only made the initial suggestion. He and George are now disgusted with Ron for not being discreet and embarassing Hermione in public. No, someone else is to blame (besides Ron for being stupid enough to take their advice).Sorry to keep you in so much suspense. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.

I must say, your Ron is a MAJOR ASSHOLE. Unfortunately, I know from experience how acrimonious custody issues can be, but this is just beyond the pale! IMO, any parent that disregards what is best for the kid(s) in favor of their own pride or other selfish wants is an unfit parent. Oh! you have me all riled up!Good chapter though. I hope you don't make us wait too long to find out how Snape gets Hermione out of this bit of trouble. (I can imagine him returning Hugo to school and Obiviating the teacher to erase the evidence that Hermione took him without permission.) I am glad that Ron will come up empty in his attempt to 'catch' Hermione. I hope he gets in trouble for falsely accusing her! (the Git!)

I have a friend who is going through one of the most horrific divorce situations I have ever heard about. It has dragged on for years. He has even gone to the trouble of hiding most of hin income off shore so she can't prove how much money he is making and get more child support. He has used the kids as pawns and tried to make her look bad in their eyes at every turn. But now that they are older, they are beginning to see him for what he truly is, thank goodness. I could go on and on... He makes Ron look nice. Thanks for leaving me a note. The reviews keep me going.

Brightest witch of her age?--okay so I'll give her the stress of the situation caused a complete lapse in judgement that that is a bad thing to do with an irate ex. I'm suprised Harry didn't pick up on her idea. It would ruin this part of the story but I'm sure Ron would have told the school exactly who could/not pick up the child--unless he just wanted to catch her in the act? Hmm, yeah. He sure is being ultra cold hearted, especially given that he cheated. Oh, and how parents do love to play the kids against the other. Oh, yes, send the child with Snape?--I am just dying to see what you have up your sleeve--I only have one guess that makes sense and keeps him and Mom out of Azkaban . . .
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Please keep in mind that Hermione was brought up by Muggles, the laws for Muggles are different, and as of now, her son goes to a Muggle school. Ron would have been hard pressed to come up with Muggle legal documents to back up his request that Hermione no longer be allowed to pick up her son. But I also believe that he was setting her up since he also figured that she wasn't aware of that law. He wants power over her, and if it was up to him to send her to jail or not, that would put him in a position of great power. Also, divorces are very uncommon in the wizarding world, just as Blaise informed Hermione. Since Harry's parents were killed and Ginny's have always stayed together, Harry has no immediate exposure to wizards who have suffered a divorce. He was not aware of the law either until all of this happened with Ron and the lizard toy.

I'm sorry, my tone was actually playful with all that--sorry it didn't come across that way. It was sarcasm for fun, not trying to be critical of the story. [Just FYI, for children, the guarian only has to literally put down who can or cannot pick up the kiddos--of course it could be contested but its literally a piece of paper, especially for little ones. You show your id, if it matches the list, you take the kiddo--where I live anyway] I really am curious as to how this recent turn will work out . . .
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
You will find with the next chapter that Severus has a very similar view to yours! But I have children and I have always filled out the paper at the beginning of every school year about who can and cannot pick up a child. I have a good marriage, so it was never an issue, but i can't help but wonder what would happen if both parents were originally on the list, then one parent showed up one day and removed the other parent from the list, then the other parent showed up a short time later and tried to do the same thing to the first parent? What would the school do? I'm sure paperwork from the courts would have to be involved.Anyway, this all happened so fast that Ron probably didn't have time to think that far ahead.I am happy your comment was made in sarcasm. It is just a story, after all. I guess I take it all too seriously sometimes, as do some of my readers. Thanks for reminding me otherwise.

I do hope that The potion Severus is giving Hermione works, but I think she ought to just ask her son what is going on. Kids are really perceptive and she may just learn a thing or two.

Hugo may not really know why he is sick. But she will eventually put two and two together.

Well, I never liked the Ron/Hermione pairing because they're very ill-suited, but I've never pictured Ron as positively psychopatically bad as you make him look in this story! Unjust and cruel laws sometimes survive their times, but there's no absolute need for Ron to act on them in this case. Pls tell us that he is under an Imperius from Lavender or something like that...
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Ron will turn out to be a decent guy, don't worry. But you will have a few chapters to go before you find out why he is acting this way. He is getting bad advice right now. He will come around. Thanks so much for taking the time to review.
Response from HannahSmith (Reviewer)
Oh, good. But if he's acting on (however bad) advice, that's still pretty bad for a grown-up, supposedly mature person. Still hoping there's some coercion going on... Keep updating!

Right now I am considering that using a Crucio on Ron is an Entirely-forgiveable! OOOOH!Snape's involvement has me sratching my head - Why wouldn't Hermione just take Hugo back to school? It would be logical. Snape is now able to be charged with kidnapping - eek!... I suppose they can have adjoining cells in Azkaban.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Snape knows just where to take the boy so he won't get into trouble.. Besides, if Ron comes and Hermione doesn't have Hugo after all, he looks like a fool. All the better reason for Snape to help. LOL

gah! what a jerk! what a piece of crap! he needs a serious attitude adjustment quickly or i will reach through the screen and choke the jerk to death. He's a pig. he deserves to have his man parts chopped off and forcefed to him for what he has been doing... GAH! I can't wait to read more, but i want Ron to at least be hexed. lol.

Where's a lynch-mob when you need one? I haven't hated a fictional character as much as this since DH came out and we learned more about Dumbledore's true character! Really hate Ron right now!!! Poor, poor Hermione. And poor Hugo as well, Ron seems to care about him more as a piece of property rather than a son. Looking forward to the next!

Oh, this is horrible! (Not the story, how Ron is treating Hermione!) I hate Ron now! Love love love this story; you are a marvellous writer! I love the way you bring the characters and their emotions to life. They are so realistic! Are you a Mom? You certainly write Hermione as a Mom well! Please update again soon! I want Hugo and Rose AWAY from Ron as soon as possible. Can we have Ron get run over by the Knights bus or something?

. Yes, I am a mom. I have a 12 year old son and my daughter just turned 15 yesterday! So I can relate to Hermione. Lucky for me, I have a happy marriage. No spells were used to coerce either of us into the relationship. But I have seen friends go through very nasty divorces. It tends to bring out the very worst in people who would otherwise be descent.Don't worry, things will eventually get better for Hermione. Thanks for reading and reviewing and for all of those stars. :)

Oh clever Severus, let the games begin. I hope they drive him crazy. I'm glad Harry is helping her to. I hope Hugo and Severus become friends when Hugo realizes that Severous only wants to help him and his mom. I can't wait to hear what accusations and lies Ron will try and come up with when he dosn't find Hugo their. Great chapter update soon please.

Oh, god! Ron is such an assbag! I can't beleive he would damage Lizzy that way, just to get a leg over Hermione.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Ron was more familiar with wizarding divorce law than Hermione, so he knew he had the upper hand. He would not have left her to rot in Azkaban, but he would have very much liked to use his position to have control over her.Lucky for her, Snape and Harry came to the rescue. :)

But Harry is married to Ron's sister! Oh, God, this isn't good. You would think prejudice would have been eliminated in the post-Voldemort era, but the Ministry never moves that quickly.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
If you recall, Voldemort wanted to banish Muggle-borns and berate those with less than pure blood. The war gave Muggle-borns more rights, but didn't level the playing field completely. Things like that take time. Equality comes slowly as generations with backward ways and attitudes need to die off before things really can be totally fair. Like any kind of prejudice, there will be people out there with negative attitudes for many years, no matter what laws are passed.

Oh God! I can't tell you how angry I am about the situation with Ron. I'm actually crossing my fingers that Severus kicks his butt. Another great chapter, but PLEASE, let poor Hermione have something good happen to her.
