I live in Virginia with my husband and 2 children. I make pottery, but, thanks to Harry Potter, I have rediscovered a passion for writing.

You did not disapoint with this chapter, it was all I expected it to be and more. Hermione and Severus have started to build a friendship (and hopefully more) that will help Hermione see even clearer what life with a real man can be. I believe even her children will be better off with out Ron and Hermionie's consstant digging at each other. i liked that Sev and Hary where civil to each other and showed each other respect. As for Ron well lets not go their or I would go on for hours how inept and really verbaly abusive he is. Great chaptor, looking forward to your next update.

Hi,
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
, and thanks so much for your thoughtful review. I thought long and hard over this scene. I needed just the right blend of nervousness, snark, and sexual tension, so that Snape wouldn't come off too nice, or Hermione too annoying. And I think that if both had lived, Snape and Harry would have eventually buried the hatchet, so to speak, and become at least civil to each other, if not real friends.More soon! the next one is in the queue.

I want to hit Ron with a shovel.

Now, now, no need to resort to violence... He will get his before it is all overwith. He's really not a bad guy, just misguided right now. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Please forgive me if I don't follow your suggestion.

Great chapter. Loved the exchange between Severus and Harry. And also the cheeky wink from Severus. Please update soon, it was all getting rather cosey before Ron came in! x.x

Yes, Snape and Hermione seemed to really enjoy each other's company. But don't worry, they have not seen the last of each other.Even slow simmers will come to a boil eventually. Thanks for your comments.

I think that little devil say's it all. Look forward to more soon. x

Trust Ron to ruin a perfect meeting between Hermione and Severus, that prat! I hope you will have Hermione stand up for her self, I don't want her placating Ron in any way, as I said before, the sooner she gets rid of him the better. Besides, I like a Hermione who stands up for herself, especially agains prats like Ron who don't deserve an unce of respect!!!Update again soon!

The next chapter is in the queue, so it won't be long.Hermione will most definitely not let Ron walk all over her, don't worry. But things get much darker before they get light. Thanks so much for your review. I really need them to help motivate me.

Oh great - I wouldn't be surprised if Ron started beating her...
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
If Ron ever laid a hand on her in anger, Snape would kill him and Harry would bury the body...But don't worry. I'm not into writing domestic violence. Thank Merlin, I have not had any experience with such things in my life, so I wouldn't know how to really inject the proper emotions into the scene. Thanks so much for taking the time to review. It means a lot.

I've thoroughly enjoyed your most recent chapter like the others before it. It was a bit of a shock last chapter for Arthur to advocate the taking of a mistress but it was definitely original from my viewpoint. I cannot wait for the next chapter.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
The next chapter is in the queue. So hopefully it won't take too long. You were not alone in your concerns for Arthur in that last chapter, but I felt it was necessary to prod Ron in that direction. Thanks so much for taking the time to review. The reviews keep me going. :)

Mmmm UST. I love Snape covertly snatching wiffs of the Secret Recipe perfume. I'm sure that's not obvious, heh. Seems like there has been some tension simmering for years and now it's just a matter of time! Get rid of the Ronnekins, he's just a bothersome detail, isn't he?? :) Great work, really enjoying it!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Ron is a bothersome detail, indeed! Yes, she won't have to deal with him for too much longer. But he was necessary for the story. She would not have had to turn to Snape for help with Hugo if she wasn't unhappily married to Ron.You'll find out that I love to write UST scenes. Thanks so much for taking the time to review.

I could just kill Ron! Hermione will be well shed of him. I wish Harry had been able to keep him in check for the afternoon. I am also pleased to see there appears to be a cordial relationship between Severus and Harry. It will make things easier for Hermione when she ditches the tosser that is her husband.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I have always felt that Ron is a "tosser" and Snape is a "keeper." But I assume that most of us here at TPP share that same view. :)Ron is really beginning to get on her nerves, but he will get worse before they resolve everything. You'll really want to kill him before much longer...Thanks so much for the review.

Please say Ron dies a horrible death sometime very soon! She needs to be free of him, so she can be with Severus!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
A horrible death would be too traumatic on the kids. They have been through enough already. Be patient. She will have him out of her hair soon enough. Thanks so much for taking the time to read and review.

Who's going to hex Ron first, Harry or Snape? Great story. Ron reminds me of the ex husband of a friend. They were in marriage counseling and he said something so obnoxious the therapist turned to her and said, "Divorce this jerk." Someone needs to tell that to Hermione.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
It will happen soon enough! Thanks for the enthusiastic review. It helps to spur me on.

Excellent! I love the Snape/Harry pleasant exchange over Ron being a git! Really clever. I'm getting quite anxious for more.

I must confess: I think you do the Weasley family and Ron in particular quite injustice, or let me rather say - they are really out of character *g*. But it works well in the context of your story and makes Hermiones reactions and feelings really plausible. And you needet the problems as a source for Hugos problems as well. It's very fitting, by the way, that Snape discovered so easily what ails him - and I agree that he must have suffered similarly as a child.
Author's Response: I will admit that the books portray the Weasleys as a wonderful bunch, and as JKR writes them I would love to have them as inlaws myself, but I would rather be married to George than Ron.
But many out there would also feel that Snape is a horrid person, no matter how many years have passed, and they would say that my version is way too nice.
That's why I put the alcohol into the equation. People often do and say things that they would never do or say when they have had too much to drink. They will turn out to be much more in character by the end of the story, don't worry. I don't make them out to be letcherous villians.
But, you are right, I had to push Ron in a particular direction, and this seemed the logical way to do it. His family is not the only influence in his life, BTW, as you will see in later chapters.
Thanks so much for your insightful review.

Nice chapter! Poor Snape, being discovered and experiencing this of all things - awful. It's nice to see how they develop a rather special friendship. The charmed keyboard is brilliant, by the way!
Author's Response: I'm glad you like my charmed keyboard. I just wish I could charm my own keyboard. What a time saver that would be!
Thanks for the review.
This is a fantastic story and I'm excited to know you have not abandoned it! So much intrigue and tenderness, I adore all the lovely relationships you've created, especially Winky's story. And wow am I glad that the whole Ron subplot is fixed, he was really upsetting me. I just want to live long enough to see Snape finally Give in and accept Hermione's advances and learn that he is worthy. At least youre providing us with these, dare I say, Mirror of Erised possibly prophetic dreams.

I am going to start posting again soon though, in the hope that a few more reviews will spur me on to get the job done in a more timely fashion. I have five of the remaining ten chapters finished. After my betas give me some feedback, I'll post the the next chapter. Thanks again for your enthusiastic review. I hope the remainder of the story lives up to your expectations.

Well I am glad they have made their plans to uncover the blackmailer. yet at the same time it doesnt sound like there will be much time for cuddling. Darn the evil doers!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Yes, not much time for lemons. In fact, it will get even worse (if you can imagine) before it gets better, but I will include a few juicy dreams to keep us all going.
Oooohhhh how I love this story!I loved watching Severus put his temper in check in order to "make nice" with Rose!My favourite part was Severus' giving a most heartfelt answer to Hugo's innocent question on why he took the Dark Mark. You were able to answer in a few brief words what seven books couldn't tell us about his choices and regrets as a young man. Fantastic!!!!I also was glad to see the evolvement of Ron in this chapter. His response to the scene before him (as well as his quick departure!) really help secure the realistic feeling of Hermione's dream.Oh, the dream......For those of you reading this story, I hope you have taken the time to read ClayPotter's other story "the Potion Master's Assistant" Her gift is truly something to behold, and reminds me why I will always be just a beta and never a writer!Oh, and the dream!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Hi, Jen. Thanks so much for the marvelous review, and the shameless plug for my other epic tale.I felt that Hugo would one day ask his question about the Dark Mark, and this seemed as good a time as any. Children often don't shy away from such questions as adults do. His bold, honest, innocent curiosity deserved an honest answer. Wisdom has shown Snape a better way, but his wisdom came at a very high price. We all hope our children can learn from our mistakes, but usually they feel the need to ignor us and find out for themselves. I guess that's why we get smarter in their eyes as they get older (LOL!)Thanks again for the wonderful review and for all of your hard work as my beta. Your advice is always well received and needed.
I hope the marriage with Ron ends sooner rather than later, what a git! I am happy that she has no illusions about him though, that is something. Poor Hugo, I hope Severus potion will help him, but most of all that Hermione will realise and accept that the best thing she can do to help her son is to leave his father. I adore your Winky:-))
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
You will get your wish concerning Ron and Hermione, although it has to get much worse before she will leave him. And as for Hugo, fear not! Snape to the rescue! :)Isn't Winky wonderful? I always thought she only needed a fair and kind master to bring out the best in her. Thanks so much for taking the time to read, and especially for leaving a review. The reviews are my motivation.

I can see Molly being a horrid mother-in-law. Describe the characters looks with age...is Hermione fat, thin, pale etc>>
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Molly always seemed very strong willed and a bit of a control freak to me. But she has a good heart. The descriptions will come later, don't worry. Thanks so much for your feedback. I relish reviews.

Oh my, this is very sad. No wonder the poor child is suffering...
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
When children bear witness to their parent's problems, it manifests in many different ways, depending on the child. Rose acts out her aggression, Hugo internalizes it and shows physical symptoms. It is sad, and it happens too often in real life.Things get worse before they get better, but don't worry, they will eventually get better for Hugo. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.

Wow. I hope she divorces Ron soon. And how is Snape going to tell her what is wrong?
