I live in Virginia with my husband and 2 children. I make pottery, but, thanks to Harry Potter, I have rediscovered a passion for writing.

Wow, Ron is such a jerk! And Snape is kind of a jerk, but at least he realizes that and is enough of a man to apologize. And what a great apology it was--makes it easier to forgive him.I hope that Molly does something to help Hermione.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Snape so seldom shows his deep emotions. I figured when he loses control and they erupt, he would explode, then kick himself for it later. He keeps himself on such a tight leash all of the time. Molly will be quite helpful down the road. Thanks for your review. The reviews keep me going.

What a wonderful chapter. I loved how Hugo and Severus bonded, and that Molly will finally get after Ron. Now every one will know that Ron has not been as honest with everyone about Hermione as he should be. I can not wait for the fall out from that. looking forward to the next chapter, update soon please.

I am very wrapped up in our American Presidential race, but it will be over tomorrow, and I can concentrate on writing again. I will update as soon as I can. Please be patient.Snape sees himself in Hugo and wants to "save" the boy. The fact that Hugo already appreciates Snape and comes from a loving and affectionate family made me feel that he wouldn't hesitate to throw his arms around Snape's neck. When people are not used to that, it feels odd at first, but it is an easy thing to get used to.

Phew, that was intense. I'm so happy that both did realize a great deal, and that Snape was able to jump over his shadow so soon and write that letter. Too nice to see how he cares about Hermione and Hugo and made Hugo see this, too! Snape's explosion was quite understandable, but to be honest, the Molly part was too easy in my eyes; she was convinced too soon and without any visible protest or criticism. If she sould be convincet so soon by Snape, why didn't she doubt Ron's actions earlier? After all, she knows her own children well - and does know Hermione quite a bit, too, so I have difficulties to buy it that she wouldn't give Hermione the honour of questioning the whole affair and having her own ideas about it...
Author's Response: I understand why you might think that Molly was too easily swayed if you only look at it from this chapter's info. But if you recall the previous chapter, and Hermione's conversation with Harry the day after the party, he tells Hermione that the rest of the Weasleys are mad at Ron, especially Molly. Ron did try to convince her that Hermione is a bad mom, but Harry isn't sure that she swallowed the story. So I felt that it wouldn't take much convincing for Molly to believe the truth when she didn't want to think badly of Hermione in the first place.
Thanks for your review. I am glad to know that you feel comfortable telling me when you think that I'm off base. I will always welcome constructive critisism.
Alcina vom Steinsberg's response: Oops - sorry, my fault, I completely forgot about that. Of course, you're right, with this background it's quite different!
I'm decidedly following too much stories and cannot always remember what has happened befoe. It's more practical to read stories in one go - but on the other hand, with some stories, I don't want to wait till they are finished... ;o)
Thanks for being so understanding about my poor reader's defaults. ;o)
Oops, speak in haste, repent at leisure, so they say!

Yes, just as with calling Lily a mudblood, he hates himself for what he said. But Lily washed her hands of him. Hermione has forgiven him over and over, first at school and now. She sees into his heart in a way that Lily never did.

Terrific story! I do love a bit of Ron-bashing... And bashing of the Wizarding legal system, too. And I love Gomez and Morticia.

. Ron is my least favorite (if you couldn't already tell LOL). And the Wizarding legal system leaves much to be desired. All of these things will play a larger role, as well as Gomez and Morticia, befor the story is through.

Ahhh, poor Hermione. I feel so bad for her. I'm hoping now things will start looking up (???). Another great chapter and hopefully she'll get Molly on her side.
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Molly is indeed beginning to see the light. Things will slowly progress to Hermione's advantage where her children are concerned. But there will be other pitfalls for her to worry about....Thanks for leaving a review.:)

Here's hoping Molly steps into Ron with both feet, hard. LOL, Gomez's name finally makes sense. Who is Ron listening to? Surely not Lav Lav? Who ever it is, is surely a vindictive, manipulative, evil excuse for a human being. *maybe with a little coaxing, I'll say how I really feel* Great chapter, look forward to the next.

I wonder how things with Ron could get any worse... But I am happy that Severus and Hermione seem to be improving.

Things will settle down now, as Hermione and Sev go into research mode. No one can top them when it comes to research. Thanks for your comments,

I just knew that Molly would come around and believe Hermione. Of course it took a little prodding from Sev, but that's alright. This was such a great chapter and I cannot wait to see what else you have in store for us on this tale. -

i almost forgot what this story was about. good thing i dont mind rereading stuff lol. :D so how did skeeter escape?
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Yes, I deserved that. Sorry for the long wait, but RL got in the way. I am happy to report that the next chapter is almost completed, but it will still need to be beta'd and go through the queue before you get to read it. But at least I can promise that it won't take nearly as long as this last one did.Your questions about Skeeter will be answered in the next chapter. :)
Great chapter!

Oh dear, poor Hermione - another trap for her Muggle expectations. I wonder wether Ron knows all to well that she won't know these things and sets traps for her?
He's really a bastard here, I'd really like to give him a thorough shake and make him see some truths - wizard society or not. No wonder Dark Lords could rise in a society that takes the dignity and emotional well-being of children so lightly...
Author's Response: Ron is being coached. He is not a bad guy, just misguided. Don't hate him, peer pressure is taking its toll right now.
But the wizarding world needs a lesson in tolerance...
Thanks so much for reading and reveiwing.
Alcina vom Steinsberg's response: You make it truly hard not to hate Ron, don't you? ;o) I give him a chance, promise *twinkle*, but he _really_ has to make up for quite a lot.
Excusing him for his heritage and not knowing Hermione's culture and what she grew up with won't be sufficent in my eyes, to be honest ;o) - I think he's intelligent enough to have known that it means to marry a muggleborn witch and to have learned at least a bit from Herimone. And peer pressure is quite an easy excuse, too, isn't it ;o).
I love how Gomez hugged Hermione! Good story, keep it up!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
I used to have a love bird, and he really was like that. He would rub his face against my cheak and snuggle up under my hair, next to my neck.

that was a great chapter. It was crazy, ron is a complete and total jerk, Severus was a jerk as well, but he apologized and redeemed himself by saying he'd help with research. I can't wait to read more, this is one of my favorites right now.

A very compelling story so far :) I eagerly await your next update and hope Ron gets something very very nasty done to him before the tale is complete. Molly and Arthur too deserve something special for their treatment of Hermione. I hope your muse speaks soon. Thank you for writing

This is a good story. I usually don't like to see Ron turned into a moron for the sake of my favorite pairing but his stupidity seems to fit here. After that silly book he used in Canon, it's easy to imagine him using another one with spells added. It's just too bad he didn't react better to news of Snape helping his son. Despite Ron's lack of smarts, I'm sure Ron would be a loving father. I'm looking forward to see what evolves between Severus and Hermione. It's hard to believe he's been following the same lonely routine for almost 20 years. Thank goodness for Winky but the man needs a change!
Response from ClayPotter (Author of Secret Recipe)
Actaully, after so many years of being summoned at the drop of a hat, Severus doesn't mind a routine. But that's not to say that he doesn't attend the occasional Potions conference sometimes in another country where his "notoriety" isn't so well known. But, yes, he has become somewhat reclusive, and really doesn't mind it. I know many people who come home from work every day and do all of their socializing on the internet. I don't talk about that in the story, but I can see him going into a chat room and playing devil's advocate in almost any conversation.Actually, the book I refer to IS the one from canon. On page 113 of the American Hardcover Edition of Deathly Hallows, Ron gives Harry a copy, tells him that Fred and George gave him one earlier, and says, "You'd be surprised, it's not all about wandwork, either." The word "all" led me to believe that wandwork is included, in addition to the good advice it gives.Even though JKR doesn't show Ron using any of the book's spells on Hermione, I took it one step further and concluded that he would indeed resort to those spells if the advice alone didn't do the trick. Hence the premise of my story.
Response from ladyljd (Reviewer)
I used to believe JKR was giving us a double-entendre when discussing "wandwork" but the simple mindedness of DH has convinced me otherwise. I'm sure you're right that she literally meant a wand. And like I said, I could easily imagine Ron using such a book of spells on Hermione. You make a good point about Severus and the internet. I'm sure he would love interacting with people on his own terms without needing to see or know them. It make me even happier to see Hermione dragging him out of his comfort zone.Looking forward to more chapters ...

I think Harry is suspecting Hermione of being attracted to Severus, although he can't blame her since Ron's such an ass. I have the feeling that drinking isn't the only thing Ron does at the pub, and I can't wait until Hermione finds out, that way she can annihilate him.
