To all my devoted readers and reviewers just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about my little tale that has been neglected over the past few years. As stated in my previous update, real life got in the way, but I feel ready to write again.
Reviews for Melancholy Whore
With a simple nod of his head, Severus has just declared the magnitude of his love to Hermione, and confirmed to her that his love is so strongly felt that he had chosen to bind himself to her for life, willing to forego any future that did not include her... even though he knew that she could not physically or magically offer her fealty to anyone while cursed. What a powerful love he must feel for her to be willing to make such a sacrifice!
In earlier chapters, you had very cleverly spelled out for the reader what was to come, but at the time I didn't understand all the implications.
In Chapter Two when Severus had realized what had been done to Hermione, he promised himself that he would take his revenge on the evil witch who had done this to her:
He roughly pushed himself away from her; a blind seething rage welled up within the Potions master as he gazed at the small, prone form, partially clothed and haphazardly sprawled before him. He would kill her; he would steal the last wretched breath from her body and watch with glee as the last moments of her life were ripped from her. He would smile a terrible crooked smile when her eyes would begin to dim, fading into vacant, glassy-eyed nothingness, one breath expelled before being overtaken by the cold, black embrace of the veil.
In Chapter Five, when Severus and Hermione were discussing what she had learned about the curse as she prepared her essay, we found out that the intentions of the one who casts the curse determined the circumstances under which the curse would operate:
“And if it were a woman who cast the Fidelitious Fealty?” he ventured.
“Women tended to cast the curse on their husband’s mistresses, ending any relationships outside of marriage. Then there were women who did so out of petty jealousy, which would render the woman a eunuch, for sexual touch from any man is an impossibility.”
“Look at me, Hermione.” Severus moved a hand under her chin and lifted her face to his. “Physical intimacy should only be one facet of a relationship, not its entire existence.”
She shrugged away from him. “I know that, but I can’t even share a kiss, feel a caress, become a mother… Moments in life that are taken for granted I can never experience.” Hermione wiped away a few errant tears.
Even then Severus was telling Hermione that the curse need not mean she could not have love in her life, but she didn't understand at the time what he was offering.
Oh, Cordy! My heart is breaking. You have to find a way to force Umbridge to rescind this horrible curse! And then she should die very slowly for her cruelty.I can't tell you how much I love this story, and this chapter was fabulous! I'll be waiting with bated breath for your next update. Well done!!!

Thank you so much for your R&R Beth, Chapter 16 will touch upon ways in which can be removed, Hermione will come to a very important decision, and Umbridge it's catalyst. Again, thank you for taking the time to R&R.
Whoa. So he initiated a blood bond with her knowing she would not be able to reciprocate due to her being cursed? What is that? A self-fulfilling prophesy? If so, how can he be so angry with her reaction? I am very confused.

Tank you for the R&R

, up next will be more on Severus' reasons for his actions, as to why, he laid himself bare, and quite possibly set himself up for heartache, moreso then he has already experienced.
Such conversation is a promising start! Inebriated man can act more freely and express his true emotions, when dealing face-to-face with the woman he loves, right?

, well you know what they say about liquor making lips loose. Hopefully, there shouldn't be anymore misunderstandings between the two, though I do love angst, so wee shall see ;).

Umbridge will be in for a suprise and his name is Severus Snape, also to come is more of the back story on Severus and Hermione's 'relationship' Thank you so much for rating and reviewing.

Wow. I'm amazed he broke down like that. Still, it does give some impetus to further chapters.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Severus is somewhat of an emotional cripple, having not been touch by love, outside of his grandmother, he is unsure how to cope with Hermione's revelation. Thank you for the review, I should be starting chapter nine soon.

I enjoyed this chapter. It's so sad to look back on Snape's growing up. I must say I'm still somewhat lost with this story, I feel like it's jumping back and forth however I do look forward to more!

Thank you for your review Leonix, yeah the last two chapters were flashbacks of a sort to show why Severus is the man he is today, the rest of the story, or at least these next few chapters are set in the present. Chapter Eight is in queue, so look for that soon, Thank you again for your review and for sticking with the story though confusing at times :)

On one hand it's funny seeing her demeaning and ingratiating herself to Snape, but on the other hand, the poor bloke has to look at the orgasmic toad face. Enough to make anyone want to toss their cookies.
The more painful and drawn out her demise, the better.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

. I apologize for not responding sooner, but I've been dealing with some some major life altering setbacks and just have been otherwise busy. I do hope to finish chapter 24 in the future.
Why would the curse kick in if Hermione is just sitting at the table to eat? If it is to keep her away from all men why is Prof. Snape able to hold her? I am sorry if I am an idiot about this.

. As for the curse kicking in while she is eating; Hermione is on her cycle, the curse will be active no matter if she is in sexual contact with a man. As for Professor Snape being able to touch Hermione, there is a clause if you will in the curse that distiguishes between sexual and non sexual touch, and that why Snape is able to carefor her. Hope this cleared everything up.

Ron is clueless, and Severus is protective of Hermione. Something just occurred to me. Did Umbridge cast the curse on Hermione becasue she just didn't like her? Or because she didn't like it when she caught Hermione pleasuring herself while thinking about Professor Snape in particular?Hummm... there's more going on here than I can understand right now, but I know you'll tell more next chapter.Good, good writing!Beth
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Umbridge cast the curse because she doesn't like Hermione and because she caught her, but doesn't know of whom Hermione was thinking when she caught her, Up next for chapter six is all Snape.

The Fidelitious Fealty and Umbridge are both a nasty piece of work! I hope Snape does her one better -- whatever that may be -- just so she hurts!Good story. I'm understanding more now.Beth
So Snape speaks Gaelic. Who knew? "A chúisle mo chroí" means 'Pulse of my Heart', which is a term of endearment, meaning "darling." There are no end to the online translators one can find. This story is getting really interesting, and I'm hooked!Beth

This story really intrigues me. I hope Umbridge gets what is coming to her. This curse really is worse than Crucio in the long run.

Yeah, its a pretty wicked curse, thank you so much for your review/comment.

Sounds as if Snape is sorry for causing Hermione pain. Did he rape her, or was it consensual? Is he having regrets seeing that Hermione has suffered pain?I think he is going to kill Umbridge.Good writing! Now on to the next chapter.Beth
Snape seems like an awfully dark character here. Let me go on to the next chapter. Your writing keeps me coming back to find out just what is going on!
Beth
I don't understand what's happening to Hermione, or if Snape is the bad guy, but I'm going on the the next chapter because I know, sooner or later, you will make all this clearer. I'm intrigued!
I'm not sure what's really going on, but the prologue has piqued my interest. Going to next chapter.Beth

Beth, thank you for your review/comment, don't worry about not understanding it all, you're not supposed to at first. Thank you and Happy Reading.

I re-read the all thing and now that I fully understand what Hermione is experiencing, I really hope two things :- First that Umbridge will suffer a great deal (very very very much)- Second that Severus will be able to find a cure for her.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Snitchette, thank you so much for the review and rating. Oh Umbridge is going to suffer, and suffer greatly. As for your second hope, well I haven't decided yet. Again, thank you.

Maybe I can offer you cookies or anything else to make you take the right decision *cough* find a cure *cough* happy end *cough* Sorry I catch a cold

This is so sad for Hermione! I want to strangle Umbridge! No touch, no intimate caress of a lover, no children; imagine the isolation to be in the world and not be able to truly be a part of it. Touch is such a fundamental need of every human being. I shudder at the thought.Again another great chapter, thanks for the update.

I really enjoyed the thoughts about the curse Hermione discussed with Severus. You can see a lot of care and thought went into this chapter.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thank you so much Sinbad, for your kind words and rating. I'm currently about a quarter way through chapter six which will deal with Snape's less than savory qualities, so I hope to have that submitted by the weekend. Again, thank you so much for taking time to review, it means a lot. ;)

I don't understand, if Hermione gets married won't the curse go away? Wasn't the reason for the curse was to ensure virginity until marriage? Or is it because Umbridge cast it , her being female, made Hermione a female eunuch forever, even if she marries? Is that what is going on with her?Your imagination is brilliant and this story is very interesting!Livvy
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Livvy, thank you so much for your review and rating. You are correct in your assumption that Hermione has been forced to live the life of a eunuch. Umbridge is a nasty piece of work, but she has nothing on our beloved Potions master.
Response from livvy6 (Reviewer)
Even if she were to marry it wouldn't release her from the curse? Is that what you mean? Mwahhh! Severus is going to be on the war path! I love it!Livvy
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Got it in one, becuase when Umbridge cast the curse it was not done for maritial purposes, so she would still be under the effects of the curse even if she married. Yeah, Severus has a wicked streak in him that will be glimpsed in chapter six, which I'm currently writing.

I think its time he kill umbrage, no idea if that would help the curse but it would make me feel better.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thank you so much for your review and rating :) Killing Umbridge would probably make a lot of people feel better, but don't worry she will get her comuppance. Up next for Chapter Six, which I have about a quarter written, is an unbalanced Snape. Again, thank you so much for your review.

Still very much enjoying this! It's becoming ever clearer. I'm looking forward to going "Ah, OK so that's what it's all about!" and then reading from scratch ;) Thank you again for such an intriguing story!

Well that spell, Fidelitious Fealty, is one nasty bit of spell work no wonder it is outlawed. Or is it???
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Well, it's not so much outlawed as it is discouraged. Thank you so much for your review and rating, and some good news, I just finished chapter five and sent it off to my beta.
