To all my devoted readers and reviewers just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about my little tale that has been neglected over the past few years. As stated in my previous update, real life got in the way, but I feel ready to write again.
Reviews for Melancholy Whore
I'm wondering if this curse was used on Hermione, with Severus being the 'husband'.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Sinbad, thank you so much for your reviews, comments and ratings. The relationship between Hermione and Severus will be explained in later chapters, without give much away, I will say that this is going to to get darker and more angsty. Again, thank you so much for your reviews.

I'm wondering where this story is going. I love the angst.
I love it!
Severus is scary the way you picture him. I haven't read a 'Severus is a bad guy' fiction in a long time and I'm really enjoying this.
I got chills from this chapter. Very menacing.
Wow, what a start. I get the impression she is a prisoner.
Wicked curse that one is. If it is so painful for Hermione to be touched by anyone other than the caster or her betrothed may I assume that at this point in the story there is more to Hermione and Severus' relationship other than teacher/student and membership in the Order? Great Chapter, now please go write some more!
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Your assumption is astute, Severus and Hermione have a complicated association to put it mildly, more will be fleshed out with these two though as the chapters progress. Thank you so much for your comment and review. I apologize if my response is a bit vague, but I don't want to spoil anything by giving too much away.
Response from Isode (Reviewer)
Please be as vague as you want, it gives me lots to think about while I wait for the next wonderful chapter.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Well I'm working on chapter five now, so hopefully you will not have to wait too long.

Dare I hope that Severus is going to cast that curse on Umbridge. Please God, err CordyAngel Seer, please do it. Usually I'm not a sadistic person nor a revengeful one but in her case I could do an exception.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Hehe, Snitchette, don't you worry, Umbridge will get her comeuppance, and Severus is telling me the the Fidelitious Fealty is too good for the likes of Umbridge. Thank you for your review and rating :) I'm be working on chapter five, this weekend, if I'm not to busy.

i'm going to geuss that Umbridge put the curse on Hermione and used the quill in detention as the conduit.

You've guessed correctly :) 10 points to the house of your choice. Thank you so much for your review :)

I am still confused, although it is becoming clearer with each chapter. I gather Umbridge cast the curse. If she is touched by her betrothed or anyone other than the caster, including herself, it looks like she will experience terrible pain, bleed and get a "W" carved into her chest. Is that correct? If so, then it would appear she can only have sex with Umbridge--I am sure that is not what you intended, so I think I have this figured out wrongly. Unless Umbridge is secretly lusting after her.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
The first part of your comment/review is correct regarding the caster, but as for Umbridge lusting after Hermione or wanting her as a sexual object, not so much, as fathers cast the curse on their daughters as a chastity belt, and husbands do it to ensure fidelity, women tended to cast the curse as a form of vengence/revenge against a husband's mistress or a woman of whom they envied in effect creating a enuch. Sorry if that wasn't made clear, chapter five will deal a bit more with the history of the curse, to clear up any confusion, thank you so much for your review.

I had some trouble understanding what was going on at first, but the further along the story progresses, the more is explained and I'm now starting to understand...I must admit, the title and summary wouldn't let me stop reading and I'm now very glad of that! Very complex, very intriguing plot...can't wait to read more :)
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thank you so much for your review, I'm probably going to start writing chapter five sometime this weekend, so hopefully you won't have to wait long for another chapter.

, I apologize that my response it a bit late, but I do have some good news, Chapter 15 has been sent off to my beta so I;m just waiting to get it back and I soon as I do a new chapter will be posted.
Randomly - I was just listening to a song that seemed to fit with the entire fic: angsty yet catchy - 'Don't Cry Out' - Shiny Toy GunsI'm not a songfic person, but this just sorta fit while I was reading your story...
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Never heard of the song, maybe I'll give it a listen.
Okay - so I finally clicked on this story (despite the title which always led me to think "whoa, just how angsty can this be?") and I've got to admit - your writing is very good, deliciously descriptive, so kudos to you!Plot Situation seems very angsty like I figured - but surprisingly addicting in a read...I'll be coming back to find out what direction you take for our lead characters. :)
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thank you
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
for giving my story a chance, chapter 15 is being written so stay tuned.
must keep reading...can't stop reading.
Excellent!
I'm not overly fond of Dumbledore here, that is certain! I have to read more.
That was some kind of muggle binding ceremony? From the middle ages? Egads!! Leave it to Severus to take things to the limit. Im so worried!
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Our Severus is a bit extreme to put it mildly. Working on Chapter 15 and am about 3 1/2 pages in so, I hope to have it off to my beta soon. Thank you for the R&R
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
.
Be careful what you wish for, you might get it... This is a prime example of that old saying.I think our Hermione has well and truly messed up a good thing. What is wrong with her? Severus gave her what she had been telling him she wanted, and then she goes off half-cocked and verbally tears him apart.I have a feeling it will be some time before Severus will trust her again with his fealty or his heart. Silly girl. She is young and has a great deal yet to learn. Now I'm wondering just what will happen next. “You had me.” Those are three powerful words that will echo in her mind again and again, I'll wager.Great chapter, my dear!Beth
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thank you so much Beth for the R&R, Chapter 15 is being written, and will deal with Hermione's thoughts regarding her actions and Severus' response to her.
I think with each chapter I understand less -- but continue to be compelled to forge on. Great writing .... the angst is killin' me.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thank you for the R&R

, Chapter 15 will delve more into Hermione's mindset on why she reacted the way she did.
ARRGH! So now what? How could everything to to pot like that? Great! Of all the times for Hermione to act like an immature child. Usually, she is more inquisitive, seeking understanding. Why did she have to bring Lily into this? Are they over?Livvy
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thank you for R&R livvy, Hermione's inner thoughts on her and Severus' actions will be explored in Chapter 15. In her defense, though intelligent and rational when logic and booksmarts are the topic, I believe she is emotionally stunted when presented with the equation of love and romancce, that and she is a teenager.
Response from livvy6 (Reviewer)
So Severus forgot who he was dealing with and took it all personally. My husband does that sometimes. He forgets our age difference and thinks I am his age. But he catches himself and admits he's expecting too much from me. Then we can talk things out rationally. Oh, they have so much to figure out!
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
That they do, there is much those two need to figure out if their 'relationship' is going to work. So up next reflections of Severus and Hermione.
Nice use of the quote. Do you think Hermione learned a lesson about what she says?
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thanks for the R&R
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
, I liked the quote too and thought it would fit the situation. I think Hermione will learn to think before she speaks from now on.
Perhaps Hermoine understands something that we don't comprehend -- "“That which nourishes us also destroys us.” A curious statement, speaking of ... dark magic? Somehow it's a little morbid for a lover's vow. We'll have to see! I'm really enjoying this story!
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thank you for the R&R
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
, as for Snape's statement, Hermione gives him a light of the end of the tunnel as it were, but she could also be his downfall. Thank you again for the review.
I can't believe it. He's offering himself to her and she hurt him in return. Well I'm going to put on stress and lack of sleep, because for soemeone supposedly clever...
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thanks for the R&R
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
, Yeah, Hermione did overreact, but her reasons will be revealed in Chapter 15, so stay tuned.
That was... unexpected! Sometimes Hermione can be so blind! *****

Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
, oh the follies of youth, as Hermione will discover in Chapter 15.
I think Hermione truly has messed up, although she didn't expect that kind of declaration from Snape. But she did ask for it. Now i'm hoping Snape comes round. Great chappie.
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
Thank you for your review and rating
Response from CordyAngelSeer (Author of Melancholy Whore)
; yes, Hermione has stepped in it, so to speak, but she is young and a inexperienced in ways of the heart. Her reasons for actions will be explained in Chapter 15 so stay tuned.
