Hermione finds a mysterious piece of self-writing parchment in Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes that writes: Tell me your deepest desire. Thinking it’s a trick, she says, “I wish to see my soul mate?” and she suddenly finds herself at Severus’ feet.
This is my response to the Potter_Place Summer 2007 Prompt – #23

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.

I can't thank you enough for this update. I look eagerly for updates to any of your WIP's. This chapter is full of information and I have a better sense of what is going on in Severus mind. As for Hermione I'm surprised she hasn't thrown herself from the tower, I could live under that much scrutiny. Thanks again I will try to wait patiently for the next chapter.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you so very much. I'm deeply flattered. Yes, I thought it time to expose what Severus has been up to and why he and Hermione aren't together so much. Bit of an eye opener and all needed to be added - on his part.Yep, I'd be rebelling and trying to ditch my 'tails' too. But this will end up making several things happen in later chapters that are necessary. I hope I don't make you wait as long for an update on this story. Tower will update soon - it's in queue already.Thank you for the review.
Thanks so much for the update, I love this story. I'm glad Severus is aware of what Hermione is going through and how she's dealing with it. Hopefully she'll take what he said about the mark to heart. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
You are very welcome. I'm so glad you are enjoying this tale. Yes, he is now aware, but what he does with the information we'll have to see... As for Hermione, hopefully she'll rememeber what he said (and if you recall Draco said the same thing before) to heart and won't let the Dark Lord get to her so much.Thank you very much for the review.
Your descriptions are very detailed without being burdensome and really give the story depth. With every opportunity that presents itself, Severus is showing and teaching Hermione things she will need to know at some point in the future. Yet all the while he must make certain that none of his instruction will lead to anyone's thinking that he is doing anything other than the Dark Lord's bidding. Severus has quite a tightrope to walk between preparing Hermione and pleasing Voldemort.I sometimes get the feeling that Draco is in on "the secret" and understands what the Potions master is up to, but I'm not sure. Narcissa seems to be totally hateful, but completely controlled in her behavior toward Hermione. Is she playing at being angry or is it really how she feels? You've written a fabulous story, and I am enjoying myself immensely.Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Wow, thank you that is really quite a compliment! I really appreciate that you think so. I'm always worried about being too wordy.Oh, doll, you've hit the situation between Severus and Hermione on the HEAD! Plus keep in mind, he wants her to be quiet, in the corner and not causing mischief or whinning... books, instruction, learn something - to keep her in line. So it works both ways for him. (Right now it's really more of the later than former. That will change though.)It would be really hard to live under Snape's roof and not 'see' things, but no, Draco is in his own world right now. He still sees what Severus wants him to see.
In regards to Narcissa, she is. SHe is angry at Severus. Upset about loads of things - and it will come out in a few chapters. But think about this, rather than give Hermione old, frumpy dresses - she gave her sexy nightgowns (think Victoria Secrets) and silky dressing robes that don't stay closed very well. Talk about 'taunting' and 'teasing' attire. why? It's not for Draco's benefit - he could care less. and Narcissa certainly couldn't give a Kute of a care about the Rat!Thank you for the really nice compliments. It means the world to me when someone likes my story this much. I really appreciate the support - and hope to update this one again soon. hugs~
This chapter seemed to show more clearly that Severus really is on the side of good. There have always been hints of it, but getting this more in-depth insight into his musings, to me, has shown a definite pattern toward wanting the same outcome that DD had been working toward - that SEverus had been working toward until this point. I wonder how he is, or if he is, still working on that front behind the scenes? I believe so, but with all these new headaches it seems he has too much to do and not enough time to concentrate on any kind of war effort. I hope he finds a way.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you,
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
. Yes, in this chapter you see into Severus' POV and gain some insight. While he still has his flaws, he is still a decent guy, sort of, and yes, he is still working for the same side he was in the books. There is a reason that Dumbledore set Severus up to replace him at Hogwarts. The school is a vital part of Dumbledore's plans, scheming and 'chess game.' I have Severus exactly where I/Dumbledore want him to be. As far as Inner Circle stuff - warnings of raids and such... you'll see. I can't say too much now.
Thanks for the update- Loved it.
Does Severus love Hermione? (or can't you answer that just yet) because I don't like so see a unhappy ending between them pair. Look forward to more.x
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
I'm very flattered that you do. Thank you.Oh, my... I can't answer that. Yet. At this point, they are still struggling with each other and the situation they are in, and what is happening around them. But this is still only September in the story. I hope to be far more diligent in my updates. Thank you for the review.
I thought Hermione might have had a miscarriage. Now she will have to face the Dark Lord's questions. What will happen to Wormtail? Surely he has displeased Voldemort as well as Severus.A well written chapter!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yes, I'm sorry, but I really didn't want her to have some Death Eater's baby. That wouldn't be fair. Yes, she will face the Dark Lord, and she'll find out quite a bit about her situation.Oh, I have plans for the Rat! Don't worry, he gets his.Thank you very much. I really appreciate the support.
Aww...poor Hermione; things don't seem to be going very well for her right now. And poor Severus...having to deal with so much and not being able to really discuss any of it with anyone! I hope things get slightly better soon. Thanks for the update; can't wait for more. ~Jen
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Jenn, Yes, Hermione is being boxed in and flollowed. It's tough to be corraled like that.Yep, Severus is handling a lot - and plenty of trouble. But he's up to it - he's not over his head. Dumbledore knew what he was doing setting Severus up to be his replacement.Thank you for the reivew. Things will only get better when she learns to close her mind...
Love this fic!!! Was so excited to see an update on it. Poor Severus. It sounds like he could really use a confidant, but, with her skill level, he literally can't confide in her (whether he wished to or not) in case she's summoned again it'd be too dangerous... He finally found out about what's bothering her the most from her interludes with the Dark Lord, but again, because of her skill level, he can't comfort her too much. And he's decided to be all noble (about this part anyway) and 'set her free' when everything is over, regardless of how she feels about that idea... I've wanted to hug him and smack him over the head in turns throughout this. I'm still really liking Cillian, Death Eater though he may be. Think she (or someone else even) needs to take Draco aside and spell it out for him, since he obviously hasn't gotten the point on his own, that whatever progress he's made friendship-wise is being negated by his Slytherin hangers-on. If he left them behind, or forced them to stay away (whichever is needed), and started up again slowly to gain her friendship (like only seeking her out once or twice a day rather than every moment she's not in her tower) I think he'd have much better luck. Looking forward to the next!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you so very much. You're welcome for the update - I'm thrilled that I was able to get another chapter in for the holidays...Severus does have his hands full, but nothing he can't handle. Dumbledore knoew what he was doing making/choosing Severus as his replacement. Nope - he can't confide in her - but he does have Cillian. Didn't you catch that? Yes, he has a nobel character, and will do what he thinks is right... But please, don't smack him yet, he's got too much on his plate right now.
You're susposed to like Cillian - did you think I'd/Severus would have someone following her around who was like Lestrange? Or Travers? Give the man some credit!
The problem with Draco is that he's already failed one task - and is afraid to fail again. Give him time, he just is trying his best to be one of her bodyguards/friend. Thank you very much for the review.
Wormtail is such a disgusting toad... my apologies to toads everywhere.I wonder what took Draco so long to come to Hermione's aid? And Severus will NOT be pleased with The Rat's behavior! Why is Hermione bleeding so badly? Could this be a miscarriage instead of her regular period? And while I'm asking so many questions, what has Snape been doing all this time?Wonderful story, bea!!!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yes, Wormtail is a disgusting man - and being a rat suits him perfectly. Draco will expalin later...No Severus will not be pleased - at all.Oh, it's bad - pretty bad. Poor girl.Brewing potions, the Dark Lord's bidding, trying to ... You'll see.I'm so glad you are enjoying this story. Thank you for the review.
Hermione's memories of her encounter with the Death Eaters have got to be troubling for her. I can understand that she would have many, many questions for her Potions master. Even though Severus had to sound irritated with her, and he probably was irritated with her, his every physical interaction with her was very gentle.
I think he must be sleeping in the same bed with her for a couple of reasons:
a) Draco is staying in the third bedroom, and
b) to protect her from Wormtail's desires for her.I like that he gave her Headmistress Derwent's treatise on Potions ingredients to study. It gives him the perfect way to continue her "training" while "guarding Voldemort's prisoner." Very nicely done!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yes, things that she does remember are hampered by what she can't. BUt then I really didn't want to type a rape/torture/raped agian by whoever... yuck. So I took it out. Yes, he is irritated with her, but he has no reason to be a total berk. Yes, he's tender and gentle with her, physically. He does care about what has happened to her.Yes, both a and b are correct. You get a gold star. Plus he can ward her in and keep her safe.
Oh, he will definately be givingher stuff to read - it keeps her quiet and busy. Teehehe
Hermione has found herself in a helluva mess, hasn't she?I can't wait to find out how this all works out... Severus will have a lot of 'splaining to do.Great first chapter!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yes, she has. A real bad mess actually! Hope you enjoy the story... Thank you for the review.
It does help, to hear more of Severus' side. It's getting interesting, a real claustrophobic atmosphere for Hermione- Draco and Cillian. It's a nearly Hitchcock feeling.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Yes, I need to add that in because it seems he's avoiding her - and he was. Yes, things are uncomfortable for Hermione, constantly being watched, followed and not even allowed her wand... I'm gobsmacked that you compared this to a Hitchock feeling! I love Hitchock and think he was amazing. Thank you for the review. I'm off to type some more...
Yes an update! Great chapter...I loved getting in Hermione's head.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. I was hoping that readers wouldn't mind, since I have a lot of repetitive information in this part... Thank you very much for the review.
Are things ever going to get better for them? And Cillian, I keep expecting something awful to happen to him. He seems too decent to be a Deatheater. There was a lot of information in this chapter, I may have to read it again. Thanks for the update, this is one of my favorite stories.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. Severus has finally had his eyes opened and that which he'd taken for bravery in Hermione was how she deals with fear, and he now knows that she's been leaning on him and he hadn't even known it. Yes, things are going to happen between them, but she must learn to close her mind first. You are seeing the 'good' side of Cillian - remember, you only see him from Hermione's POV - but I really do have bits of hints in there about his true nature. He is very much like Severus, only warm brown eyes and curly hair and from a large, rich family. You will find out more as the story progresses - two things in his past greatly affected Cillian, and Severus was a part of them...You are very welcome for the update. I plan on making my 3 WIP's my primary focus for a long while and not take on extra stuff... Thank you so much for your patience and the sweet review. I really appreciate the support.
when's the next bit coming? want want want!

It's with my beta, but some really horible RL has delayed things. (hurricanes and flooding, torn roof) Sory, but please be patient.

I’m certain Severus can effectively seal the bond. He’s helped a few of us before.” Are you saying that Severus is Draco's biological father?? I would have thought a marriage lasting only a year & a day would have been a bonus to Hermione. At least she knows its not forever right?I am all sorts of nervous about what will happen to HErmione when Snape goes back to Hogwarts. Half of me wants her to accompany him and the other half wants her to stay in the house. Its a no win situation.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Ok, no. Narcissa had difficutly concieving. So Severus gave Narcissa potions to help her concieve within the timeframe - before time ran out and Lucius could annul the union by declaring her barren. A few people missed that. My fault. The being married to Severus was frightening to her at the time. Things between her and Severus hadn't relaly been all that great so far. Hermione will be at H__s. Sorry if that's a spoiler.

AFter I left the review I couldnt wait for your response so I went trolling and read other's reviews. I get it now. Its funny because this story was initally recd to me because I am working on a quiz where Severus has a child but Hermione is not the mother. I see now that person must have been confused. Anyhoo I am glad I am reading the story even if it wont fit this particular quiz because its very good!!!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Thank you very much. I'm really flatered to know that. I hope I don't disappoint down the line.

I noticed that neither Draco or Snape checked the books she brought back to the bedroom. Not that she has had any chance this week to read them. I wonder if the titles she chose are significant? Snape has made a few slip ups with his pronoun use that Hermione should suspect he is not a loyal DE but she is certainly rattled.
So tell me how often do you update this story? Its fast becoming essential to me!!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Nope, they didn't bother. Severus wouldn't keep the 'dark' ones in the sitting room, anyway. They are just light reading for her. There are two that will be significent, but they get packed with a vase. (hint) Yes, Severus slipped. I update as often as I can. I am up to chapter 18 (written) and working on 19. I update as often as I can, really! I am really giddy at your kind words - thank you!

This is driving me nuts: Cant Snape find out if Hermione did indeed cast a plight pairing charm? How will he get confirmation of what she has done? The wondering is pushing me over the edge! Having Hermione walk around in skimpy lingere is just evil Bea! No wonder Wormtail cant keep his hands to himself. I am surprised Draco has been able to ignore her so well. Oh and having Draco take her notes was so mean! Good job you!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Well, so far we are dealing with something Sverus has never encountered before nad since he hasn't actually seen the parchment, or identified the spells on it - he isn't sure. The Parchment will show up again - later.Yes, well, blame Narcissa for Hermione's attire. She's wanting to make it hard on Severus. This is a revenge part on her half - you'll see why alter. And Draco still sees her as a Mudblood. So he sees her as below beneith him.I'm quite flattered by your review. Thank you.

No more shampoo-brewing for Narcisa, eh, Severus? Hahaha! And the DA is coming back. And Draco still doesn't get it, but he seems to be trying very hard! To befriend Hermione will be a battle on itself...Great chapter, I was so happy when I saw the alert on update!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
Didn't Snape tell her a dozen times - he doesn't brew beauty products. Geeze the guy whipps her up a gift - one time - and she's pleading for more! Ah well.Yes, the DA is coming back - with a vengernce... oopsNope, Draco's so sure of himself and cocky that he doesn't see the forest for the trees. But then what do expect from someone who insulted a hippogriff? If he is ging to befriend Hermione, he's gonna have to earn it. poor sod.Thank you for the review.

I thought for sure Hermione would manage to throw off the imperious. I laughed at the Order's outrage at Hermione's behavior. OF COURSE they didnt think of the imperious first. Men are dumb.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of The Self-Writing Parchment)
She almost did, but Snape had to reinforce it on her. It surprised him that he underestimated her so. Nope, the boys didn't realize that she was under the Imperious - they were in shock at the time... didn't expect to jsut see her on the street... and they were caught of gaurd. Yeah, that's what they would have told everyone. They were caught off gaurd - and didn't want to hex Hermione to get to Snape. Thank you for the enjoyable review.

"they were in shock" Which is of course true, however the skeptical cynical side of me says they should have stunned Hermione and attempted to take out Snape. Wandless anyone??? If woman were running the world things would be much different :DDid you sign up for the HG/SS exchange on LJ yet? hint hint

Do I get points for figuring out the pregnancy? Snape is really twisting the knife to taunt her with a paternity spell. At times he seems to loath her and then again he is leering at her. I cannot figure your Snape out! (this is a compliment)

Yes, you get points for getting that one right. Which house do they go to? At this point - he's conflicted. Tell me what you think of him in a few more chapters. I hope you still like how I have him by chapter 13.Thank you for the compliment, I'm giddy! I love a complicated Snape.

Was or should I say is Hermione preggers? What the hell was Draco doing when Ratboy was harassing her??? Severus will not be pleased.
