In the wake of the fall of Voldemort, a new law threatens Muggleborn women with forced marriages, including Hermione Granger who must make the best of a bad situation by marrying Severus Snape. This story is that of the long and rocky road to eventually find contentment.
Winner of the Multifaceted Award, round three, Courage category. Thanks!

Reviews for You Can't Have One Without The Other
I've read both versions of your story, and both times I read it I've had points where I had to stop, to continue some months later. Your theme minus the BDSM, mirrors my parent's relationship, and was dificult to keep reading. I found both endings hard to digest, but mostly because Snape seemed to be changing near the latter half of the story. His actions in the end of both are rather extreme. In this one he reverts to his controlling self. If he truly loved her, wouldn't he understand that she wanted to leave him because of his controlling nature? Wouldn't he realize that if sometime down the road she "woke" despite his precautions she would hate him more for what he did to her? There really isn't a happy ending for them together. I read in another review where you mentioned you had similar issues as you were writing about, and I am glad you were able to leave it. My mother stayed, despite his behavior and psychological abuse. In the end she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and ultimately left anyway. I found it hard reading this one, because like Hermione in the story, she married too young. My mother had never really lived, had never had friends, because he did not approve of her doing things outside the house. Her regret was that she did not leave when she was younger and stronger, and that she hadn't done things she'd wanted. All in all, this story really hit nerves for me.
If I want angst and crappy endings, I'll stick with real life. This story is so out of character it should be labeled as such. I can't understand why people have to try and artificially generate pain in others. It's like a person with HIV wanting to infect others just because they're own life is so miserable. One would think that misery would cause a person to try and shield others from that pain. I guess misery truly does love company. I held on all the way through this miserable story hoping for that happy ending. I was a fool.

I have to agree with the last review in that i originally read this story on ashwinder. I didn't even know this site existed. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out what TPP stood for. After reading this ending I really think the story on ashwinder is probably more believable however I don't really prefer either ending. The AW story just wasn't believable for me because Hermione is one to listen to someone, she didn't even give Snape the time to say anything. Here she is portrayed as a ditz that doesn't put two and two together that shes being fed a potion. But other than the endings I loved this story. It is one of the best i have read and i truly love it except for the endings. 5 stars to everything but the endings.
WHaT! I am outraged at this last chapter, this story had such a great character base and emotional functionality. To end it with such a bland and unsatisfying conclusion is a travesty. Sorry it was very well written until the end I'm understand that people have lives and limited time.
