I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.
Admins' Note: Livvy6 died suddenly on February 22, 2012, leaving behind her husband, six-year-old daughter, and seventeen stories well-loved by the TPP community. All who knew her—including those in Harry Potter fandom and all of us, here—are richer for having known her.
Requiescat in pace, Livvy. Always.
Reviews for The Unforgiven
Poor Harry, I believe you've nailed their characters perfectly. I believe Harry would grieve the most for Snape while Ron ~if he gave him a moments thought~ would grudgingly acknowledge he played his part but wonder what the fuss was about. I believe Hermione would feel the most guilt for not helping him. Sorry, but I probably will never like Ron and I hope Hermione cuts him loose rather sooner than later. Looking forward to your next chapter, can't wait to see where you take this.

Hermione has her own set of troubles to stop her from going too far into feeling guilt over Snape. She is going to have to decide what to do with Ron and their relationship. More on that next chapter. Thanks :)
Ron seems to be a careless lover. The scenes described were almost like a forced scenario. Quite disturbing in its way. Poor Harry. He fought so hard for Snape. Too bad he can't forgive himself.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Ron is very selfish, but Hermione stayed with him and admitted to herself once they got into their groove, he never failed to bring her off, but I think she was just living in denial and the comfort of what was easy and excepted. Harry will continue to be haunted by his "failure." It is too bad, but it happens to people who get stuck, and they can't find their way out, or they feel they don't deserve to be released. Thanks!
Poor Harry, sort of flipped out, didn't he? Can't wait to see what happened to Severus and how they find him.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Yeah, Harry is not going to be working with on all thrusters during this fic. He is unable and/or unwilling to forgive himself for what happened to Snape or whatever happened to him. A part of the problem is no one knows what happened. Thanks!
There's a great deal of focus on sex in this chapter--sex is bad, sex is better, but not great, sex is good for harry/ginny. That's interesting, but I think more time than necessary was spent on that. I think that continued showing of Harry's breakdown was well played, but I admit that I really dislike when Harry (one of my fave characters) stays down so long. Seven months is a long time. What's going on with others? How are the Weaseleys coping with Fred's death? What of little Teddy? Has Harry not thought to take comfort with him yet? Might be something to consider. He doesn't want to be a Sirius after all. But anyway, good writing. I look forward to more. Just thought you might like to know my true thoughts. Cheers.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Thanks! Yeah, next chapter is where it all will change. Hermione has a decidion to make and there will be a serious lack of sex for a good while to come. The depression that Harry is going through is not going to get better soon. It's the major theme in this story: the inability to forgive oneself. If Harry can't do that, he is basically trapped in his own mind. He will need help and we'll read more about that as the chapters go by.Thanks :)
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Reviewer)
I think it's a good theme. So many times survivors live with such horrible guilt. There's always things we could have said, should have done... You know the drill. :(
I feel very sorry for Harry here, but I enjoy the way you depicted his feelings. Very real after all that's gone on.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
I'm glad that came through. Another reviewer had commented on a lack of descriptive scenery surrounding the dialogue, but honestly, my focus was to get the reader to feel Harry's desperation and panic. I'm glad you saw that. Thanks!
Interesting start. I'm looking forward to more.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Thank you! I hope you continue to enjoy it.
Poor Harry, denied closure, he is unable to heal.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Denied by himself, that is the important part. No one knows what happened to Snape, so yeah, no closure for him. Thanks!
Poor Harry, I can imagine him being guilt-ridden at the thought of how poorly he treated Snape, hating him for so long and never realizing that Snape was there protecting him out of love for his mother the whole time. Harry did tend to take things intensely personally and blame himself when he realized he had made an error in judgement. Since JKR took the story decades into the future immediately after the Final Battle, we never did get to see how Harry, Hermione and the rest of the wizarding world coped with their losses, so this is an intriguing view of what might have happened. Great update, I look forward to the next!
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
I hope you like where I take it. There's going to be a lot of an inability to forgive oneself going around. Thanks!
I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the story.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Thanks! It is all just beginning :)

Thank you!
What a promising start!Harrry's anger and despair are more than understandable, given what he went through during this night. I'm curious where you will be taking us with your story.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Thank you. I hope the second chapter-which is longer-will peak your interest even more. Thanks for reviewing!
Very interesting, personally I think Hermione should have let Harry finish that curse.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
LOL! I probably would have too! Thanks.
Great start. I'm impressed with how you're portraying the characters' emotional status after the final battle. It seems spot on and believable. Looking forward to reading more.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the next chapter.
I don't usually read over on this archive. Nice start. I like the way you write Harry's anger and frustration, as though his going to retrieve Snape's body was somehow going to help make some sense out of the day, and when he can't find the body, it's like the straw that breaks the camel's back and his emotions spiral out of control from that point. Hermione's admission of how she had viewed Snape in the past is more realisitc than many fan fics. Your description of McGonagall, mostly just coping with chaos, was great.I especially liked Madame Pomfrey's response. She called him "Severus" which makes me wonder if she'd known or suspected all along his continuing role in fighting Voldemort. You're a bit sparse with descriptive narration, but the dialogue is nice.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Thank you fpr reviewing. What I was writing was so much of canon, I wanted to focus on the emotional aspect of Harry's mind.I do agree about Hermione's POV of Snape in Fanon. I have read many fics where she is constantly correcting Ron and Harry to refer to him as "Professor" Snape, not just "Snape." it's not what happens really, Dumbledore corrects Harry on a number of occasions and Molly once, but I don't ever remember Hermione doing it.It's not canon, but if he were involved with spying, and we saw that Voldemort was not above abusing or killing his Death Eaters in DH, that Poppy would have had to know about Severus' work and probably would have cared for his injuries, but that's just MHO.
I can see Harry react in this exact way after the battle. Very good start, can't wait to see where you take this story.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Thank you! I hope you continue to like it!
Terrific start! This looks good.

Have to read to find out! :)Thanks!
Ooooh, good work so far! Very canon too! :)
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Thanks!
*gets all giddy* hey, this is a good start! The bookmark is set...
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Fabulous! I hope to keep up the interest. Thanks!
This is a fantastic beginning! I cannot wait to see what happens next! I am glad that someone is thinking of Severus- I was so mad at the end of DH when they just left him there! And as for Harry- it seems a bit much to think that everyone would just go back to being happy-go-lucky after Voldie's defeat, and I am glad you are getting some of those emotions out!
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Yes, there is not going to be a lot of happiness and the next chapter will get more into the nuts and bolts of it. Harry will continue to struggle with what happened to Snape. Thanks for reviewing!
Very cool beginning. I actually felt like Harry after reading DH. I can't wait to see where you go from here.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Excellent! That's what I was aiming for. Thanks!
This is a powerful beginning. You have given a new voice to Harry's rage at things beyond his control. I don't think he even realizes why he is so upset. I look forward to finding out about Severus' whereabouts and how he is coping. Thanks for posting, JoAnne
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Hey!Thanks for reviewing! Yes, Harry's emotions are completely out-of-whack. Sad, really.
Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful. I know you're gone and will not be reading this, but I believe that you know how much your words have touched so many lives. May God bless you and your family.
