I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.
Admins' Note: Livvy6 died suddenly on February 22, 2012, leaving behind her husband, six-year-old daughter, and seventeen stories well-loved by the TPP community. All who knew her—including those in Harry Potter fandom and all of us, here—are richer for having known her.
Requiescat in pace, Livvy. Always.
Reviews for The Unforgiven
There is nothing like a smug Snape. You know what they say about it happening the very first time. I do think he needs to get over his childish behavior but JK never had him do it so there you go. I look forward to the next up date. Can't wait to see what Eugene's reaction to the new baby will be.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
What do they say about it happening the first time? I haven't heard that one. Oh, yes. Some things never change. Smugness... he excels at that.Next chapter will be Eugene's reaction. Thanks :)
What a mood swing. From rejection to anger in under sixty seconds. Hermione went from abandoned to take charge. When the one you love is in pain, you can't stand by and do nothing. Breaking the mirror was the best thing she could have done. Severus needs a clean break with the past so he can have a good future with Hermione.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Too right. When Hermione has a breakthrough, she can not stand aside and allow things to remain unresolved. Thanks :)
Wow, this story was amazing! So heartfelt and yet heartwrenching at the same time.Well done Severus and Harry for defeating their demons too!Your writing style is one of the most cohesive, structured and consistent styles of fanfic authors I've seen and I'm hoping that the art keeps being rolled out after ACIGTC is finished :Dxx
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Well, I'm glad you liked it and I hope you will like the next fic coming out soon (HG/SS). Thank you for all your compliments! I appreciate that. Thanks!Livvy
OMG, this chapter was awesome! I would have done the same thing, smashing the mirror that is. I might have actually done it a long time ago! Its funny you were describing that tight in the chest feeling when under stress and I've been experiencing that a lot lately! I actually went to my Dr. to find out what was wrong, I thought I was having a heart attack! Anyways, enough about me, this was great and I can't wait to see what happens next! Much Love ~ Brena
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Yes, it needed to be destroyed. However, it is only a symbol. The real sickness is in his head. Yes, Hermione was experiencing panic attacks. I hope everything is going okay with you now. Thanks :)
Yip. Still the same bossy, mothering Hermione. One day Severus will appreciate it.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
He does need some loving like that. After all, she did have to wrestle him back to her place to get him to clean up. She really is a mother at heart. Thanks :)
Oh my goodness. Is that what living without his memories has done to Severus? I hope Hermione can help him.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Yes. It's rather sad, isn't it. Hermione can only do so much. Severus will have to WANT to find his way out. Thanks :)
I loved how Hermione delt with Eugene's horrible aunt. Don't know how she managed not to hex her! I hope her telling Snape's story will influence the other boys on how they treat people who are different.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
You know Hermione! She can't help herself. Whether it's telling someone off or correcting bad behavior of others, she'll do it.Thanks :)
Interesting chapter. I wonder what Severus will think about the whole idea of forgiveness? I am glad both Hermione and Eugene have found someone special. Funny that Eugene did not tell Hermione he knew he was a wizard untill after sha had shown him all the cool magic!
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Eugene can be a bit sneaky, can't he? Well, being street smart, he needed to know what Hermione was capapble of before showing his hand. Thanks :)
Interesting that the first person Hermione talks to seems like a mixture of Severus and Harry. Do I get the sneaking feeling that a certain dark man may be the missing dark wizard??
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
We'll see *giggles* Thanks :)
I am so glad Hermione did not give up her own happiness for Ron's. It would have been wrong for both of them.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Hermione has to remain true to herself, no matter the cost. She's the kind of person who can't live a lie for long. Thanks :)
Harry definatley has the ability to obsess over things. Just like he did over the Hallows. I think he has just had too much death in his young life, and is clinging to the fact that Snape may be alive as a way of not feeling guilty for everyone else who died in the final battle.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Harry does feel responsible for Snape, now that he knows the truth about him. He can't forgive himself for not either saving him or finding his body to give him a proper burial. Thanks :)
I am glad Harry is so determined to have Snape's body where it belongs. I can also see how angry abd upset he would be over something everyone else has thought trivial. He was the last link he had with his mother, not to mention the fact he had had to kill someone. Quite traumatic!
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
I thought that Harry's out of control temper would fit when he found out Snape's body was missing. Harry was never one to do anything by half-measures.Thanks :)
Very intense and compelling. Is Sirius Eugene's biological father? Regulus?
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
No, he is just an unfortunate orphan that represents many of the lonely and lost men in her life. Thanks :)
I'm assuming that the mirror in Snape's house/room is the Mirror of Erised? Why hasn't this occurred to Hermione?
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
No, the mirror is just a plain, old mirror. Thanks :)
Glad she destroyed the mirror.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Yes, it needed to be done! Thanks :)
I could have kicked Severus for leaving Hermione and go back to that mirror, but I guess a madness hold for so long aint done with just by being accepted and loved by someone else. I am very happy Hermione destroyed that mirror and I sincerely hope Severus ment what he said at the end of the chapter. I also hope Hermione will meet with Lily, James and Sirius in the afterlife so she can curse them:-))
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
LOL! I'd like to see a grudge match with Hermione and Lily! Thanks :)
It was going too smooth. Something had to come up, hadn't it?Poor Snape, being tormented by mirror!Lily, who is the manifestation of his guilt and all the negative feelings he was directing towards himself.I hope he and Hermione will be able to pull through it together. You have written a very emotional chapter here. You managed to bring all the feelings across very well. Good job!
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Thank you! It was a very hard chapter to write, particularly, the scene with the mirror. I'm glad you liked it.Thanks :)
Why is Severus so caught up in this imaginary world he has created? I'm starting to wonder if he is under a curse.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
No, unless the curse is of his own making and his mind gone to pieces. One can only carry the weight of guilt so long before it starts to poison their mind. Thanks :)
Poor Severus, Lily-in-his-head wasn't quite done with him. Hopefully he can see past her now. :)
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Yes, I am sure the mirror being shattered will help matters along. Thanks :)
Wow, and just when we all thought things were going well, Severus has another mad fit. I hope Hermione can be strong.Great chapter :)
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
I know, it is really starting to affect Hermione terribly. Thanks :)
I don't know who you are, but you're one of the most gifted writers I have ever read. This chapter was almost my undoing. Its been a while since I've read a single chapter in a story that has affected me so much. Not since I read Mia Madwyns's Care of Magical Creatures have I been so moved.“My hurting never seemed to bother her the way it does you. She never shed one tear for me in that mirror for the hundreds I shed for her... "I’m afraid."“Why does her forgiveness have to mean so much?” This single sentence brought me to my emotional knees. I hope it did the same to Severus. They have been written off and as good as left for dead for too long. If they are going to survive, they will have to hold onto each other and fight like hell to claim the lives they deserve, not the one's society have allotted to them. After I finished reading the chapter my emotions were so scattered that I couldn't string together a coherent thought, so I glanced at the reviews others had left. Keske's comments gave me a shake, and I found Cohen's "Hallelujah" by Rufus Wainwright. Then I read this chapter again as I listened to that beautiful poem set to music, and I realized what had struck so forcefully me about this chapter. You, the writer, have known a deeply hurtful disappointment... otherwise I don't know how you could have written this chapter. I apologize for assigning facts to your life for which I have no rational reason to do. It's just that I don't know how someone who hasn't known such pain could have written this chapter. You don't have to leave me a reply if you don't want to. I realize that I have taken great liberties as a reader to have written the previous paragraph, but it was not my intention to pry... I just didn't know any other way to tell you how powerful this chapter is. It is magnificent. I'd give you a thousand stars if I could. Beth
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
This was a difficult review to respond to. It really got to me under my armour. I have known deep loss and pain on a level where I shall never be the same. Yet, I have a husband who is like Hermione-loving, caring, supportive. Sometimes I am amazed by the love he has for me, and I wonder how he could love me so?Thanks :)
Obsession like his is scary. I don't blame Hermione for freaking out. I hope he means what he said.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Severus wants to be free, but he doesn't really know how to live in freedom. It frightens him. He'll have to sort it out for himself. Thanks :)
You did it again. Another great chapter. Please up date soon.
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
As soon as I can!Thanks :)
I don't blame Hermione for smashing the mirror, hopefully that act was able to free Severus completely from her obscene hold on him.If Lily wasn't already dead, she'd deserve to be hexed into the next century for the horrid way she treated Severus and the damage her so-called "friendship" left on his soul. Grrr!
Response from livvy6 (Author of The Unforgiven)
Oh, yeah. If Lily were alive, there would be unholy terror unleased from Hermione. Hermione has reached the breaking point. Thanks :)
