The war and subsequent clean-up has ended, and the wizarding world is beginning to come out of its shell. Having had enough of Hermione and Severus's bookworm, introverted ways, Molly and Minerva give well-intentioned Christmas gifts aiming to push our heroes out of their comfort zones and into the arms of a well-read, like-minded witch or wizard. Will our heroes ally to survive with their wits intact? Will they overcome their personal demons? Will they find love within the pages of the detested novel?

Imperius'd by MollysSister, I obediently came over to read, trying valianty to mutter thru clenched teeth, "But I absolutely have NO TIME for ANY MORE WIPs!"
Thank Merlin that MollysSister is such a powerful witch.
You are updating soon, I hear? Count me in for the club.
Clever, witty beyond belief, hilarious, and I could fall in love with a Severus Snape who gets caramels stuck in his teeth. ;)
Author's Response: Thank you, thank you for the excellent review!
I'm particularly tickled to hear that someone liked my story enough to Imperius someone to read it! Huzzah! I inspired Unforgivables!!!!!
I am indeed updating soon... you want in on the updating club, right? Not the book club.... I hear it's a real pain in the ass.

Well, that certainly brightened up a dreary Friday afternoon! I feel like the weekend has started early. Loved everything from Hermione's checking Snape for the Imperious curse to Snape's comparing the activation charms to the Dark Mark. I absolutely cannot wait for the next update. Make it soon, please?!

I cannot wipe the grin off my face for nothing! You had me hooting and hollering with laughter all the way throughout. My most favorite bits are: 1. Hermione checking "ostensibly to verify whether Snape had fallen prey to the Imperius curse"2. Snape's comment about pink cardigan wearing harridans. 3. Hermione's reflection that an aretery near Snape's Nagini would shouldnt throb4. Snape's "wee bit dramatic" thought that book club charms are similar to receiving his dark mark. I beg of you please update quickly. I am in love with you the story.

Absolutely fabulous! I laughed so hard my children came in to see what was so funny. The activation charm ... brilliant, as was Severus comparing it receiving his dark mark. Oh, this should a rollicking good romp! Looking forward to more!

Oh, I can't wait to read more! I love the compulsion charms too---if only I could compel my kids to behave so I can read more fanfic! I liked the part about the shawl too. I hope at least one of the older ladies buys one : )

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I'm glad that you liked the compulsion charms; I was a little worried that they were too contrived.Chapter 2 is in the queue! Thanks for the excellent review!

I didn't want to review until I went to Amazon and read those book reviews! GOLLY! it sounded so awful, then I went to read some five star reviews. well, one promised that the stories were like a combination of 2 of my fave writers, Barbara Pym and EF BEnson, and Garrison Keillor. then one five-star review mentioned a dog that only respnds to being quoted scripture. that's jsut twee. I mean, if the town drunk's dog resonded to bible verses, or it the preacher's dog responded to Gilbert and Sullivan, that might be charming, possibly even believable- but a stray dog finds the preacher and only responds to bible verses- that's simply barfous. (and that was in the five star review- at least 2 people actually LIKED that!)So, now that I am prepared for the Witches of Gilford, I can't wait for more! This was such a funny chapter, i just had to keep reading! Thnak you!P. S. I hope you have the Gilford book mention a pet of some kind who has some precious, stupid characteristic!Post Post Script:Oh did i say how original and wonderful your premise is? I meant to say that but was distracted my my dog who only responds to Dr. Suess rhyming couplets!(Actually the Dr. Suess dog is now sadly dead. And it was only when he ate. I had to say "eat them, eat them! Here they are!" before he'd eat his meals. Really!)P. P. P. S.From Fox in Socks by Dr Suess

P. P. P. P. S.Good god! Revoke my Mommy card! it was Green Eggs and Ham! 'Would you eat them in a car? eat them, eat them. Here they are!'
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you for the most excellent review! Oh my. I had not encountered the scripture dog. While inclusion of an analogous creature might make our hereos nauseous, it might drive this author over the edge to insanity. :)I didn't spend much time looking at the 5-star reviews, but I have lurked a bit on some forums. They did not fail to inspire.

Hee! I hate to giggle at the expense of poor Severus and Hermione, but their unfortunate fate seems to be for our enjoyment, so... I'd never have thought a book club could sound like hell!

I imagine they'll be able to survive with their dignity intact, though I'm quite certain their torture hasn't ended yet. :)Thanks for the review!

I really want to read more, the start of this is really fun! I went to Amazon to look at the Mitford series (and no offense to people who like it, but it looks absolutely dreadful). Good first chapter!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
I'm glad you enjoyed it! In particular, I'm glad to see that you checked out the Amazon link. I think all readers will end up fully grasping the horror of The Witches of Gilford, but it's one thing to read my descriptions which border on disgust and the original which are meant in all seriousness. Thanks for the lovely review!

Thank you for the lovely review! I'll certainly pass along your comment about it being well-written to my betas. Both Kittylefish and Persevero were invaluable to the process.

How I enjoyed this: I just love stories where Hermione and Severus are snarky together, and you wrote it so well:-)) I have no doubt that both Molly and Minerva had the best intentions (not quite sure about Minerva:-)), but I am equally sure that they will never, ever, make Hermione and Severus see it their way:-))I am so looking forward for reading more!!!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks so much for your glowing review! You'll get a peek into Minerva's intentions in chapter two. I'm glad you enjoyed their snarking!

I agree with you, the idea of Severus or Hermione being compelled to read that kind of material, let alone attending a bookclub and discussing it, is hilarious.I laughed out loud (scaring the children), the part with the shawl especially, and look forward to finding out how our duo cope with the forthcoming meetings
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Oh, they have certainly some crafty coping mechanisms up their sleeves. ;)Thanks for the lovely review! Hopefully most chapters will thoroughly frighten innocent bystanders when you read. :)

Wow, I can only imagine the interactions, the "pains" of the charms to be forced to keep going to the club... but very juicy opportunities for Severus and Hermione. I enjoyed very much the narrative on the beginning of your story. Love the idea, love the plot and I will keep waiting for updates. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for your excellent review! I've had the plot outlined for months as ideas popped up here and there, and I'm really looking forward to sharing it.
