The war and subsequent clean-up has ended, and the wizarding world is beginning to come out of its shell. Having had enough of Hermione and Severus's bookworm, introverted ways, Molly and Minerva give well-intentioned Christmas gifts aiming to push our heroes out of their comfort zones and into the arms of a well-read, like-minded witch or wizard. Will our heroes ally to survive with their wits intact? Will they overcome their personal demons? Will they find love within the pages of the detested novel?

*does happy dance* Yay, a chapter. Oh, that was wonderful!I'm glad you let Severus have some relief before discovery, I dread to think how the party would have gone otherwise
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Oooooooh, that's mean! It had never crossed my mind to leave the poor man unsatisfied!*giggles*Glad you enjoyed it! *happy dances with you*
That was hysterical.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
There were so many witty, funny and simply adorable lines in that chapter, I possibly couldn't cite them all.It was hot, moving and funny. Thank you for writing and sharing it with us.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
You're so very, very welcome. 'Hot, moving and funny' I couldn't ask for a better description. :D
Back in the days I was at university, I live in a dorm for a while. And there was this guy, who alway played the bolero when he had his girlfriend over - loud, with the windoww facing a courtyard open. As my window was facing the same courtyard, I was rewarded with repetitive Ravel one hot summer long :-)Your story is incredible. I love your characters. Ginny and Lavender were wonderful in this chapter. A Blushing Charm for the cleavage? LOL
The building up of tension in the last chapter culminated in a wonderful kissing scene in the current chapter, that left me breathless and wanting for more.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Och! Torture by Bolero! That's a rather nasty piece to accompany the wooing, I would think. It starts so quietly that one must fiddle with the volume midway or risk deafness by the end.Ginny and Lavender were a hoot to write. I'm glad you enjoyed them!
So now they are partners in crime, after skiving off together. That their sneaky adventure would end in exposing a raw nerve with Severus was not to be expected. Poor man.Good chapter!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Partners in crime. :) I love it.Severus has a lot of raw nerves to be exposed, I think. Lucky Hermione doesn't quite have to manage this one.
I'm glad you didn't get rid of Ron by making him a lying, cheating git, but *that* was really gruesome. But fitting in a way ... *slaps her hand ... bad apisa*A consultant in the Wizarding Wold. I've never stumbled over that before; very intriguing.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks. :)I like a good lying, cheating Ron every once in a while, but I wanted a good challenge. Of course, I could have just pretended they'd never happened, but I wanted to explore the possibilities of them having 'worked' to some small degree (but of course, with our taciturn hero winning the girl in the end).
LOLNow I'm glad there's no such thing as a bookclub around.I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to plunging deeper into the story.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Oh, the book clubs do exist. Fortunately, they're not binding! Thanks again for all your reviews, Apisa_b!
I'm glad their devious plan worked out. I've regained faith in the inellectual capacities of witches again.I wonder how long they will be able to stay chaste ... given their timetable they will manage it longer.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Lucky for them, the plan did work out. How horrible it would have been if they'd been unable to elicit any criticism. :)
I just love the chapter title. And the story too!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks so much!
faboo update! oblivious me...i would have never guessed lockhart. thanks so much
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
You're quite welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I have no idea about the books you are talking about, but I cand easily imagine. Pure torture - double torture if you have to discuss about it with not like-minded people.I'm looking forward to reading more.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
I'm glad that the story stood alone without you being familiar with the series that inspired the story.I hope you enjoy the rest of the story!
Thank you for the brilliantly detailed reminder that a date is so very often NOT about what's going on inside our OWN heads, and that actually communicating is really, generally a Good Idea! Glad they finally did get past the present misunderstandings...though I'm quite sure there are many more ahead of them! And I'm actually glad they haven't jumped directly into bed. That goodnight kiss promises so very much that's worth waiting for.Though not waiting for TOO long, I hope! (For all our sakes!!)
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Indeed... on dates and in real life (damn real life) it's best not to stay stuck in our own heads. If only I could remember that. The next chapter's up. I hope you enjoy it too!

Oh, the frustration! :)
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Oh, but it was fun frustration, wasn't it?

I think that this is the most realistic way I have ever read of Severus and Hermione getting togather. I like that they never really even concidered eachother until they had a common enimy. Great work.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you so much! I'm glad you think it's realistic! :)

I'm going to try to review this again - I got myself banned as a spammer the first time I love that they managed to overcome all the little misunderstandings in the end, and the sensuality of the music eventually got to Snape, although for the image that comes to mind for most Brits over 25 when they hear Ravel's Bolero can be seen in the link below

Ah, so we survived the evening of Bolero - too bad it was H von K...(blech) but I must admit seeing it is better than any recording. :)I'm happy for Sev and Hermione - the awkwardness is gone and they know where the cards lie, as it were....can't wait for the next bit!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Why, I'm surprised you even clicked on the link! ;) I hope the Prokofiev and Shostakovich satisfied.I'm sure they'll find cause for awkwardness again. Thanks for reviewing!
Response from remy (Reviewer)
Curiosity killed the cat, lol!Don't remember the vids for the other two, but I think one of them Exceeded Expectations, hehehe...Okie, I should cease and desist before I end up making worse puns, but I can't help it now that I've just seen 'Yes Man'...
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
I'm sure you're thinking of the Bolero belly dancing video. Surely. :)
Response from remy (Reviewer)
Really? Now I hafta go back in the chapter and look at those links again, lol
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
It was tucked away in the author's note at the bottom. It was very silly.

When I read 'Bolero' I emitted a 'guh' of epic proportions and then lol'd when I read Severus' description.Pretty accurate for the world's largest crescendo, eh? I'm fascinated to read what happens next - like maybe an explanation as to why Ravel is in the same program as Shosty?Dun dun dun....
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
I suspect Severus has better thoughts about Bolero now.I poked around on the web quite a bit looking for pieces that had been performed with Bolero. It was a bit more varied than I expected. But admittedly, it was a CD, not a symphony program that got me thinking about the Bolero, Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet, and Shostakovich combo. Granted, it was Shostakovich's soundtrack to The Gadfly, not one of his symphonies. Thanks for reviewing!

Blast Albus Dumbledore and his incredibly rotten timing. And blast Severus Snape's self-control! I was really hoping that green dress and those heels were going to pay off big time, but it was not meant to be. Well, at least I know that Severus and Hermione are going to be just as frustrated waiting for their next meeting as I will be waiting for the next chapter! Happy holidays!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Snape is a bit legendary for his self-control, isn't he? Accept when it comes to his temper, anyway.Perhaps the dress and heels should be seen as an investment? With payoff at a future date?

Wonderful story! I can't wait to see what Hermione's plan for the book club is, and I am so glad they finally got around to kissing.

Oh dear, this man's got a talent for offending people's sensibilities... Are you absolutely sure that you won't post any more chapters for several weeks?
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Oh, I'm working on the upcoming chapters.... slowly but surely. :) If it's any comfort, chapter 9 is 3/4 done. It's 8 that's the bugbear.

Ohhhh .... I am ever so glad that I discovered this fic! I have been alternately been LOL and tearing up while reading and I so look forward to the next chappie! I especially can't wait to see what Severus and Hermione have in store for their book club presentation.
