The war and subsequent clean-up has ended, and the wizarding world is beginning to come out of its shell. Having had enough of Hermione and Severus's bookworm, introverted ways, Molly and Minerva give well-intentioned Christmas gifts aiming to push our heroes out of their comfort zones and into the arms of a well-read, like-minded witch or wizard. Will our heroes ally to survive with their wits intact? Will they overcome their personal demons? Will they find love within the pages of the detested novel?

Another brilliant update! I loved how they escaped from the book reading, and Minervas words to Albus at the end of the chapter were perfect, I think she managed to tell Albus exactly what all we Severus-lovers wanted to say:-))

Thank you! Poor Minerva.... left to clean up the mess that Albus made.

This is great. I love it. And I think the idea of using house elves to apparate about is a reasonable one.

Brilliant work! I don't have the greatest memory, but I don't believe I've read many fics that actually adress Snape's post-war mental state (OK, his AU mental state) without exaggerating it in some fashion. This is a great read. Thank you for writing.

Thank you! I was concerned that his having avoided dealing with the issues for so long would be believable. I've been struggling a bit with how to deal with the issues enough without it stealing the focus of the story. I do want the story line to remain true to its romance and humor categories. Thanks for the review!

"Albus Dumbledore, you were a right fucker for leaving that man with no support." The perfect reprimand, and one of the rare instances in which I believe Minerva would allow herself to drop the f-bomb.Oh, and now you've made me want fish and chips, and me in LA with nary a chip shop anywhere nearby!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks! I can only imagine what Severus will say to Albus's portrait. I've been craving fish and chips for about three weeks now. :) Thanks for the review!

Poor Sevvy, Dumbledore was a right bastard. he played so many people, it made me so angry for a while when i even thought about the crap he did. I really enjoyed this chapter though and i am very much looking forward to reading the next chapter.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thank you!I suspect that while Albus had more companionship than Severus did, he may have been just as lonely. I imagine the flipside of forcing your friend to kill you wouldn't be much easier (except with the obvious point that he's dead... which cuts down on the angst a bit)

Holy Crap, you can write!!! This was so great. I really connected with the characters, and as a staunch supporter of Hermione and Ron, I can see where you have left a good opening for a new man in Hermione's life. The book club setting also provides a good way to get these two characters to know one another. Your word choice is lovely, the cursing is creative and funny, and I think my favorite parts were the "kitchen incident with Crookshanks" and “fucking socks from Albus were better than this.” :) I can't wait to read further!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Sigh, I can't believe I associate with people who support Hermione and Ron. :) I'll win you over to the dark side yet.Glad you enjoyed it!

This chapter was perfect! I loved how easy their meeting went. I know it was all gushy when she talked about Ron, but after the two of them dreading it, it went very very well. And I love how Hermione doesn't take his crap when she thinks he's talking down to her. You Go Girl! Anyways, I'm still loving this story and I can't wait for more! Cheers! ~Brena

I like how you have a friendship budding between the two, slow and sure is the way to get past Severus's prickly demeanor I think.

I'm trying to think of something nice to say about the situation they are in...but I can't picture either of them reading fluff. I have to admit I laughed at them a few times. Hopefully they will get something out of the experience.

I'm sure if the Compulsion Charms weren't in force, there's no way either would willingly allow the book into their homes much less read them. Hmm, I wonder what will happen to the copies of the book once the club has ended? :DThanks for your review!

I feel sorry for them.Too funny, you would think that two bibliophiles would love being in a book club of course it's not the usual type of books that they would read.Nice flow in this chapter.
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks for the review! It is sad that two bibliophiles should be driven to such extremes, isn't it?

What a cute story; just saw it for the first time. I LOVE to read but always thought book clubs sucked, now I know why. Hurry with Chapter 4 please!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for reviewing! I believe not all club are so onerous.... let's hope so anyway.Never fear. Chapters 4 and 5 are in beta-land with 6 and 7 shortly to follow.

Wow! It sucks how Ron died, but Snape was human about it with her. This should be a fun ride....
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
I'm almost feeling a bit guilty now for Ron's death... no more gruesome moments. I promise! Thanks for reviewing.

You dont have to be hilarious every chapter. I'll settle for every other chapter. I hope Snape thinks seriously about ditching the school and begin a new career. I think he has done enough teaching MOVE ON SNAPE!!Hey is pear cider a real thing because it sounds yummy

Glorified data work not as interesting as Arithmancy and Charms?? Heaven forfend!Glad they're each discovering a kindred spirit. Sometimes it's the only way to get through drek! And I'm glad that Severus didn't risk Minerva's wrath by calling off their meeting.I'm enjoying the way you're filtering their history into the narrative. Good job!
Response from pyjamapants (Author of The Witches of Gilford)
Thanks so much for your review! I'm especially pleased with your comment about filtering their back history into the narrative. It seemed a fairly natural construct since these two don't know each other well at all.

You mean you're not really Hermione? Oh, I am dissappointed! I loved hearing Hermione discuss her business! and Apparation and how magic works. I love that in fanficion, intersting ideas from the writers about magic and wizarding society! Poor Ron, though.I thank you for this chapter of one of my most favourite fanfics of all time. loved that little swipe at fanfic readers/writers who want to get to know the handsome protagonist!

I had a horrified moment a couple weeks ago when I was completely paranoid that I'd made Hermione into a Mary Sue. After all, most of my friends from high school or college were made courtesy of the fact that I CANNOT halt the sarcastic verbal commentary during class.I'm glad you enjoyed Hermione's back story. I was a little concerned that she was too chatty, but my beta reassured me that Hermione would be prone to chattiness when nervous (and drunk!)Thanks for the review! I'm ecstatic that this story is one of your favorites! Hopefully it will continue to live up to expectations!
