Born: in the glorious year of 1979, when Dio joined Black Sabbath and Peter Pettigrew started passing on information to the Dark Lord
Colours: black, green, silver
Passions: writing, cooking, baking, witchcraft
Obsessions: quite a few, chocolate for one (hi Lupin!), but mainly a certain Potions master and a blond DE.
When I am not writing alone, I co-write with my favourite Ravenclaw star_girl. Look for sevs_starsisters to find our stories.
Published writer since 2014. Original fiction is good fun, but I find myself returning to fan fiction every now and then
Reviews for The Way Home
Hi morgaine_dulac. Sorry that I haven't left a comment for a while, but I have been very busy and was unable to read until now. Now I am all caught up, and I must say that I have enjoyed the last few chapters immensely. So glad they will have a girl first. Severus needs a couple of women in his life to make him feel loved and for him to dote over. This story is such a joy. Keep up the good work.

Hi!Missed you!Hope the final chapter won't disappoint. I'm actually getting nervous!Cheers. /M
Love it!!!!That was great how she told him. Is this the end?!Livvy
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
They are home, aren't they. So yes, this is the end. Just the epilogue left. :-(/M
This chapter has it all! Love, sex, revelations... they are getting married... and they are going to have a baby girl!I wonder what cover story they will concoct for Minerva. Maybe they should just tell her the truth... perhaps the Headmistress will temper her curiosity in the future... and it would be lovely to see her reaction to Too-Much-Information.8^)I had to laugh at Cassandra's very Severus-like reaction to grading her students papers. Will she really let her student hex his own hand into the table? That would certainly be one way to teach the entire class the importance of correctly translating their spells.I suppose it would be too much to hope for that all of their problems will magically disappear... will Cassandra's pregnancy proceed without problems? Will their wedding go off without a hitch? Great chapter! Beth
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Thank you for all your praise. And I am already apologizing for the next chapter. I'm afraid it will disapoint you. Remember, the title of the story is 'The Way Home'. And they are home now, aren't they?Cheers. /M
Now that's a surprise. How long has Cassy been pregnant? When would she have told Severus?
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Gee, the questions! ;-)Seeing as she has lost a child and might expect complications, I figure she wants to be sure that everything is okay before she tells Severus. So I'd say she's two or three months in.Cheers. /M
Didn't see that coming! It's wonderful. I hope she doesn't have problems that stem from having lost one child...that can happen lots of times. The sex proposal is funny. Ordinarily I would think it seemed false, but it seems to fit nicely here. Though, everyone and their maiden aunt will want the details, just like they said, and how funny! They'll need to come up with a good cover story! LOL
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Oh there's bigger trouble ahead than a cover story ... Should be quiet now ...Glad you liked the chapter.Cheers. /M
Darling, you certainly struggled to include every fluffy detail you could think of, didn't you? And you are making a very good job of it. Thanks!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Hehe, beware: I am all out of fluff now!Cheers. /M
Oh, I want a proposal like that!! Glad to see that, at least for the moment, he's focused on being ecstatically happy (that, and thinking up a good cover story for Minerva!), rather than worrying that it will all go wrong.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Who doesn't want a proposal like that??Yes, Severus is indeed happy right now. But hey, you've read my stories, you know what's bound to come. *smacks herself over the head, Dobby-style: bad girl bad, bad*Be prepared./M
OK, now THAT was a suprise. I have done noticed the timelines and I realize this is happening in close to present time. If that is the case Severus is nearly 49 and Cassandra is only a few years younger. As a late 40s person myself I know it is not impossible to conceive but not ususally probable. Very cool!
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
You did your maths correctly. I figured if wizards live longer than Muggles and they can have babies later as well. :-)Cheers. /M
I don't usually like original characters but I love Cassandra. I can see how a sensitive person like her is drawn to an equally sensitive person like Severus. Nice pairing. I am glad they made their way back home.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
And I am very glad that you gave this story a chance, despite the OC.Thank you!/M
I felt so sorry for Per. He was devastated to lose his friend, but was happy for her at the same time.Severus' welcome back into the Wizarding world was as nice for him as it was unexpected by him. I liked the way Hannah Longbottom came back to the booth to make sure her eyes had not been mistaken. Well done.Cassandra's and Severus' visit back to Grimmauld Place was a good way for Harry and The Potions master to have the time to make peace with one another. I know how things went for Severus and Harry, but I noticed that you didn't comment on how Cassandra's visit affected her. I can't help wondering if she has had a difficult time coming to terms with her past. You write a pretty darn good love scene, too. Hawt!Beth
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
There is actually a real Per which 'our' Per is based on and he has been somewhat angry with me since e read this chapter ;-)I really like Severus to have peace now as he is back in the Wizarding world. He has done a lot of good, and deserves that peace. As for Cassandra: She is quite bottle-up. Just think about how long she kept quiet about the worst moment of her life. If she is uncomfortable now, if she is unable to let go of her past, she will not tell Severus. Because she has returned to the Wizarding world for him.And thanks for the compliment in the love scene. Ehm, ehm ;-)Cheers. /M
*snerk* You, my dear, are very good at writing sex scenes! My word!I liked how the reception was to their return. I'm glad Severus and Harry met up to put the past in order. Nice closure for Severus I'm sure to hear "Thank you."Anonther fab chapter!Livvy
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
*bows* Thank you for your praise. If you like my sex scenes, keep your eyes open for a one-shot called 'You Know Where to Find Me'.There are two canon characters which I really want to thank and/or apologise to Severus Snape: Minerva McGonagall and Harry Potter. I'm quite proud that I managed to get them both into this story. One more chapter (yes, with smut) and the epilogue to go now.Cheers. /M
Have they married yet? Did I miss it some how? I have to re-read...Nice homecoming. Not too mushy, and good feeling of smothering in the crowds.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
No, they aren't married yet. Cassandra turned him down, remember?(I know, she's nuts!)/M
It's a shame that Harry and Severus can't be on friendlier terms. Harry is grown up, Severus's duties were completed successfully and Harry fulfilled the prophecy. They should have a clean slate now.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Harry is still James Potter's son. A mortal sin in Severus' eyes. They'll never be friends, I'm afraid.Cheers. /M
Sorry, forgot to rate...
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Na, you're sweet!
After some very troubling chapters, I am happily following along this path they have chosen and wish them well for all chapters to come.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Maybe, trouble ain't over? *whistles innocently*One more chapter and the epilogue to go.Cheers. /M
Another awesome chapter. I was beginning to panic in the beginning, but the end more than made up for it. Their conversation about her name is endearing and memorable.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Thank you.The conversation about her last name was one of the first notes I made for this story. I'm glad I found a place for it in the end.Cheers. /M

Sweet, and funny. My curiosity is peaked by the Magical Languages thing.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Hate to disappoint you, but there won't be any classrooms scenes. Sorry :-(

Oh, I wish I knew the tone of her voice when she uttered that last sentence. As horrible as that experience must have been, it does seem that the healing of it must begin with sharing it with someone, sharing that part of herself, and it is good that Per recognized it as did Severus.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
What kind of tone would you like it to have? *curious*Telling Severus is the biggest step Cassandra has taken in over a decade. Hopefully, Severus won't freak out now ...Glad you're still with me.Cheers. /M

Well, whatever tone won't freak Severus out would be preferable ;)

Whatever tone she's used, he will freak out...
Response from WriterMerrin (Reviewer)
Aww, Severus needs a hug now.

I never liked Sirius, so it is easy for me to imagine your portrayal of him being so self absorbed that he would ignor his little sister.Great job. Very tragic chapter, but now, at least, Severus understands where she's coming from.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Guess what? I don't like Sirius either. (And it bugs the hell out of me that the hockey team in my town is called Sirius!)Yup, now Severus knows what's going on. Hopefully, he can help Cassandra finding her way home.Glad you are enjoying this. /M

OMG, the poor dear... It's a shame Yaxley and Rowle are already dead. I guess Severus would have loved to help them with that.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Oh yes, he would have! But now he can put all his energy into helping Cassandra. Thanks for reading and leaving a note. /M

Oh, that was heart-wrenching. No wonder the poor girl's traumatized. Let's hope she's ready to heal now.

That is just horrific. She must deal with this or she will be consumed by it. I'm glad she's finally talking about it. She will have to grow and absolve herself. She didn't do anything wrong. The blood is on the hands of those Death Eaters, not her. She didn't kill her husband and child, they did. Poor woman. Very well written. I could feel her pain as I read it. Good work :)Livvy
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Cassandra has been hiding all this for ten years. Not even Per knew. Her showing this to Severus is the biggest step she has ever taken. Hopefully, she will now find the peace to reflect and come to the conclusion that she has not done anything wrong.Thank you for reading, livvy, and for sharing your thoughts. /M

Well. At first I was unsure of the Macbeth reference...but you completely earned it in the end. My husband and I have had the conversation many times that if it ever comes to a choice, the children should be chosen over the spouse. I think her reaction was very real, and moving. This is terribly sad. It made me a feel sick, but shouldn't things like this have that effect? Great job.
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Cassandra knew that her husband was dying, so she made the most logical choice. She is, after all, a Ravenclaw.I am very glad the chapter provoked emotions. It was very hard to write.Thank you for reading and leaving a note. /M

How horrible that must have been for Cassandra! The cruelty of Rowle knew no bounds, and Yaxley was no better.I hope that now that she has let Severus know of her past, she will be able to begin to heal... but I have to wonder what Severus will be reminded of by her answer to his question: ‘Because you know that guilt as well, Severus Snape.’ This was a painful chapter, but so very well written that I must compliment you! Well done.Beth
Response from morgaine_dulac (Author of The Way Home)
Thank you very much, Beth. This was a hard chapter to write, and I am very glad that I succeeded. It is now time for Severus and Cassandra to talk to each other and to be honest.Thank you very much, Beth, for reading and for leaving a note. /M
