What would happen if Severus found out what his life would be like as a Death Eater before he got the Dark Mark? What would happen if Hermione was the one to tell him. AU SSHG A time turner fic.

I am a classically trained singer with three children. I love Star Trek and have watched probably every episode of every series. Favorite HP charaters are Snape and McGonagall. (not as a couple.)

Ha-ha! Lucius kisses like a drooling hyena! And ach, poor Sev. So innocent and unguarded. He needs a good hug. Might I volunteer my services?
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I'm first in line for that service, my dear.

*salutes* Yes, ma'am!I shall remain on stand-by... just in case.
I think this was a great chapter. I loved seeing Severus veiwing his alternative self. An inspired chapter overall.

Thanks,
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
! I think this is one of my favorites. I enjoyed creating the interaction between these two as they saw themselves from another's eyes.
I was worried there for a moment that Severus would be a Junior Death Eater in training, but then I suppose he might also be playing her for info. Hermione seems so open and trusting.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I think there is an aspect of him playing her. He's crafty and suspicious. I think he's at a time in his life where he could go either way. His 'friends' will gladly lead him to Voldemort. And he might just gladly head there with them.
Dandy premise, and I like that Severus is already aware of who she is to an extent.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Oh, he'll learn much more! We're throwing the usual 'secrecy' premise to the Time-Turner fic right out the window here. At least when dealing with Severus Snape.
ahhh, that was so lovely. And necessary for them bnoth to fill in the gaps. Can't wait for the next installment!

! I think it'll help them out to adjust to one another again. It may even help when times are tough.
Wow, that was pretty intense for both of them.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
It truly was. It's hard not to fault Hermione for being a bit jealous. Who wouldn't want such attention from someone they loved. And Severus now sees just how deeply Hermione feels for him. She'd have never been able to accept him otherwise.
It was a great homage to the lost Hermione, a great idea to include those memories. Maybe now Hermione will at least have lesser feelings of guilt.Looking forward to the next chapter. =)
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I think she will. At least, if she does feel that twinge of guilt, she can remember these memories and know that even though they led somewhat different lives, they are still much the same person.
Definitely a good homage to the lost Hermione. I love them sharing their memories. Interesting sealing of the idea that this Hermione is much stronger than her alternate, and that primarily is because of Severus. I also loved Severus noticing that his alternate must have had a crush on her. This chapter was great, and it makes the pace you've set up for them totally make sense. They definitely need to get used to each other.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I'm glad that came across. They really do need to get used to each other again. Even though Hermione was only separated from Severus for maybe half an hour, this is still an older, wiser Severus she's come back to. Of course, Severus has been separated from her for twenty-five years. There'll be a little adjusting to get used to, even if they still are crazy about each other.
Wow, talk about having to face your inner (or in this case paat-) demons! It must have been so hard for him to see himself through her eyes and realize she'd have come to love him anyway. It was cute that he saw a bit of a crush in his own eyes - from the other self. Still, what a ride for them both.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
It was quite tough for Severus. Sometimes the reality of a situation can only be seen in this manner... blatantly strung out in front of you. I think that her being able to love him anyway is really part of the miracle of them as a couple. Hermione has always looked to the good in everyone. Of course she'd do so with Severus. Now he's seen that, too, and can appreciate her love even more.
great chapter, i can't wait to read the next one!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Thanks! I'm working on getting it readable!
What a great chapter--not only seeing Hermione's reaction to how her childhood might have been with a more understanding Professor Snape, but it was fascinating seeing those memories she had of the two of them in the orginal timeline working together and oh-so-slowly getting friendlier. It reminded me of the painstaking and careful way one gets a stray animal to start trusting you... Very well done indeed!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Severus does sometimes act like a stray animal, doesn't he? I suppose he has every right to, with the past he's lived. (Severus from Hermione's memories, at least.) I'm not sure if in the original timeline they'd have ever gotten together, but it's interesting to see the small spark between them. Some things are just destined to be, I guess.
He needed to see that. :)
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
He did, didn't he? He always knew he'd saved himself from a horrible existence, but I don't think things like that truly sink in until you've been 'on the other side of the tracks' so to say.
yes, a lovely homage. she was much luckier in her relationship with severus but the result was the same. thanks so much my delovely deb! (me blowing kisses)
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I think the biggest thing was that the other Hermione had lost some spunk. Severus loves Hermione for many things, including her not letting him get away with anything!
I think this might be my favourite chapter so far!! I loved their conflicting memories. Brilliant!! *sigh* I think this was a wonderful way to bring them closer to one another!!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I think you're right! They will be closer because of this shared experience. Hermione, too, will understand what Severus went through with her there, and will probably be able to appear more like the old Hermione because of it.
Its good to see Severus as a sociable character following Hermione's trip to the past. While its good to have him start off more reclusive (snarky self maybe), to see him change is nice.Looking forward to the next chapter.=)
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
He's learned quite a bit from Hermione's tale. At least he's changed for the better, hmm?
Poor Hermione! She returns only to find that reality has been turned upside-down. I like this reality better though.=)Looking forward to see how they plan to overthrow Lucius. Off to read the next chapter.
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
It's quite confusing, but she's quick and will catch up soon. We'll see Lucius soon.
What a fun chapter! Everyone together and happy, Harry and Ginny getting ready to have a baby, good times! I know things will be getting serious and dangerous again soon, but this was a great intermission before the action starts again.Well, it took me three days but I finally got my way through all the chapters of this story that are up so far! It has been highly entertaining to read, and I've been neglecting my husband and cats dreadfully while I was doing it. It was worth it, though! I've really enjoyed everything, and now that I'm "caught up" I'm looking forward to the next installment.Next: will Sirius and Petunia have a little annoucement of their own to make to Harry? Gosh, what would a child of Sirius Black's be like...?
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Wow, you've read it all! It's long, huh? There's one more semi-light chapter, then we get back to the situation at hand... Lucius--megalomaniac. I'm so glad you've enjoyed this so much. I tend to neglect my husband for fanfiction too. A child of Sirius Black would be one you'd probably not want to cross! Although with a little Petunia thrown in... the possibilities are endless! And Dudders would have a little brother or sister!
It must seem to Hermione that her entire world has been turned upside-down! Ron's alienated everyone, Sirius is alive and married to mean old Aunt Petunia who's not mean anymore, not to mention the things she still doesn't know such as Remus being alive! It would be like Alice going through the Looking Glass... it's all the same, yet unbelievably different.A possible way that Hermione might be able to get some feedback from this new timeline's version of herself would be for her to use that very spell the "other" Hermione used to question Severus from within Harry's memory. She could go inside a memory that had her in it, freeze it and have a good long conversation with herself! Talk about weird, though... Still, glad she's back and ready to jump in feet first and help out with the attack on Malfoy Manor. I do hope that Draco isn't involved too deeply in his father's schemes, and that he remembers it was due to his dad's interference regarding becoming a Death Eater and taking on that assignment for Voldemort which nearly caused him to be killed in the first place! "Thanks, Dad, but no thanks for the Ministry appointment... I think I'd rather just become an international Quidditch player and have women hanging all over me like they do Viktor Krum, okay?"
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Hermione's head is really spinning right now. She's got a lot of catching up to do. But she'll eventually get with the groove.Wow, that's a good idea for her to use that spell again. I've kind of gone a different route, though. You'll see in the next updated chapter.Draco hasn't been on the dark side since he was hidden away from Voldemort. I can definitely see him beeing a Quidditch star. He'd suck that up and love every minute of it.
Nice paradox explanation! And here I was thinking that Dumbledore would tell Hermione she needed to go to the past in order to preserve the new future, show her the note his former timeline future self had sent to him when she'd arrived, and insure that the cycle was not broken. But this is good too, and has the added benefit of being unexpected! Still, what a disappointment to find out that all of one's hard work with Lucius was apparently for nothing. Things are just as bad, but in a different way! I certainly hope that when she gets the opportunity to give Lucius a piece of her mind that he'll have the good grace to be just a little bit uncomfortable, at least! But what of Draco and Narcissa? How do they feel about Lucius' current Reign of Terror? I want to read more, but it is after one a.m. and I have got to get some sleep... I'll wrap up the remaining chapters after I've had my shut-eye!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Hermione's work wasn't for nothing. She truly did change his perception of Muggle-borns. It didn't really help with his affiliations and actions during the war, nor did it help with his decisions afterward, but he's a tiny bit better for it. Satisfying, isn't it?We'll see her meet with Lucius relatively soon. I won't give you any idea what will happen. Narcissa is happy with her status. She enjoys the limelight. Draco, however, feels a bit differently. His leanings will be revealed later.I admire you for sticking with your intention to read until His Hermione returned. Thank you for being such a stalwart reader/reviewer!
Hooray, Sirius and Petunia do get married! Hee hee hee... and little Teddy locking onto Severus' nose was priceless! Especially loved the hair color change to show his delight--so cute!Sev and Hermione's friendship is fully established now, and the cracks are appearing in the relationship between her and Ron... things seem to be heading in the direction they're supposed to... so far.As for whether or not Hermione will still go back in time--I think she will, because Dumbledore will summon her to tell her that she did, and her actions allowed the war with Voldemort to be won. So the impetus may change, but I think she'll still do it to make sure that the "old" future never happens. Guess we'll see!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I liked your thoughts on why she'd return to the past. However, if she did, she'd be different, and Severus' memories wouldn't have added up. I know most of these Time-Turner fics stick with the loop idea. But... I wanted to do something a bit different.
Great showdown scene with Harry and Voldemort! Liked how they got more into it with each other than in the original book. I hate that Fred died, but I am so glad that you kept Remus alive so that someone will be able to raise little Teddy... And Severus didn't get poisoned by Nagini, always a plus.I can't wait to see what happens to everyone... will Ron and Hermione's relationship be more successful in this new timeline? Will Sirius and Petuna become engaged, if not actually married? Will the senior Malfoys go to Azkaban or not? Guess I'd better mosey on over to the next chapter to find out...
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
Yes, it's nice to not have to deal with the Nagini angle. And Teddy deserved at least one parent. I'm not really a fan of Ron and Hermione. It just doesn't gel for me. So... I wouldn't let them be more blissful. Althugh that would throw a kink in Severus' anticipation of Hermione's return. I think he was worried enough.

So the truth is out now--and Lucius couldn't even be bothered to help out his friend at the end, Narcissa had to do it! Narcissa! Just what were all those Occlumency lessons of Lucius' for, if not to allow him to help his friends sometimes? Hmmph! I am glad that Severus will have an opportunity to fight for the Order openly, though, and everyone can know what he did while he's still alive to appreciate it. On to the next chapter--I will keep reading until Hermione's return from the past!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
You're so right. He's really no friend, unfortunately. He's really only looking out for himself. His desire to forward his own agenda and get power blind him to any alliances he has with anyone. It's really quite sad.I always wanted to see Severus outwardly fighting with the light. His skills are definitely an asset. (As well as his heroism.)
Oh dear oh dear oh dear.... well, I know that there are many more chapters after this one, so Sev must somehow manage to get out of this, but still.... ack! Will Harry, Hermione and the others all wind up in the dungeons at Malfoy Manor with Severus? How embarrassing for him if so! A hardened spy captured as easily as a group of teenagers... all the other spies will never let him live it down. Loved the fierce embrace by Hermione; her professor is becoming more and more important to her, methinks!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
It was hard writing this and the next chapter. I hate seeing Severus suffer. It would have been interesting to have all of them in the dungeons. Sounds like a great plot-line!Hermione really is getting closer to Severus. Unfortunately, she won't reveal anything to him, as you know.
How ironic--Harry knows, and Hermione knows, but neither of them know that the other knows, so they both have to keep pretending that they don't know! You know? Ron is the only one who really doesn't know... as usual. Poor Ron. He's always a little out of the loop, isn't he? But leave it to Hermione to find a spell allowing her to question Severus in absentia, so to speak.
Also glad that Petunia is being the voice of reason to Sirius; maybe she can keep him from going off half-cocked before the truth can be told. I have got to go to sleep soon, but I'm not stopping reading until I get to the return of "his" Hermione! So, onward and upward!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
LOL. I do know! Ron is left out of the loop often. Maybe that's why he turns out as he does.Petunia is a good influence on Sirius in general. She'll help even out his personality.
Woohoo, Sirius is still alive! WAY TO GO! I hope he finds some happiness for himself as the story goes on... if not with Petunia to make him Harry's step-uncle, then with someone like... oh, I don't know... Nat Kinsington, perhaps! She's smart, pretty and funny--Sirius could do worse. I suppose I'll just have to keep reading to find out.I'm glad Sev was able to foil Umbridge's plans with those nasty little quills of hers. Also liked the twin's pranks! And the close brush with becoming warm and crispy? Couldn't happen to a more deserving individual!I'm both glad and worried about Harry knowing of Hermione's future in the past. Glad because in a way it helps him understand Severus better, worried because that's just one more thing that Voldemort could find out from him if he can't learn to block his mind soon. The doll was a sweet touch at the end. I felt all melty and gooey when I read that part... Next chapter!
Response from debjunk (Author of Time's Treasure)
I couldn't kill off Sirius. I like the fact that Harry has some family who cares for him! It is risky that Harry knows so much. That's another reason why Severus was so quiet about her trip. The less Harry knew, the better. The doll is there for sheer melty-gooey effects... believe me!
