Book 7 -- The Way it Should Have Been. Harry, Ron, and Hermione don't return to Hogwarts for their seventh year. Instead, they join forces with the Order of the Phoenix to find Voldemort's Horcruxes and save the wizarding world. Members of the Order teach them how to fight. Along the way, Hermione realizes that her feelings for Ron have changed -- and so have her feelings for two other Order members.

I am in my late 50's and I didn't even start reading Harry Potter until after the third book came out. My granddaughter got me 'hooked on Potter,' and while surfing the net one day, I found a fanfiction site. That was it! My first story, "Renaissance," was published on Ashwinder a month later and I've been writing ever since. I am primarily a HG/SS shipper, but I also enjoy reading and writing RL/SS. I live in Tampa, Florida with my wonderfully adoring and supportive husband, and three completely spoiled cats. (Kallie, Mysha, and Smudge {who was the inspiration for the cat that Severus gives Hermione in my story "Renaissance."}) I'm always happy to correspond with my readers and I answer ALL reviews. I'm always looking for plot-bunnies, so feel free to throw some ideas out.

Thank you so much. I hope I can sustain your interest.
Erg, Ron is just incerdibly stupid! If it weren't for Hermione and Seveus... erg!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm thinking I may have been a bit too harsh on Ron ... nah ... lolThanks for reading!
Cool, trust Hermione to get it right. Ron is such a sod, and Severus is down right cool.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
lol ... my thoughts exactly. Thanks for reading.
Poor Remus! I hope he comes out of it okay. And jeez, what is Ron going to do next?!?
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Some of your questions will be answered in Chapter nine. I'm thrilled that you're enjoying the story. Thanks for reading.
Wonderful! Wish it really had happened this way.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
... sigh ... me, too ... sigh.Thanks for reading.
Nice chap! Poor Remus - lately, all of the stories that I am reading has him with the short end of the stick. I eagerly look forward to an update.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I hope to have Chapter 9 sent in by the week-end. I'm glad you're enjoying. Thanks for reading.
action packed chapter and well written , but I hope readers realise that to do CPR effectively is actually a lot harder than it looks and has to be taught properly ( sorry health professional side taking over ) :) Technicalities aside, a brilliant story!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm actuallly certified to perform CPR, so I do know that one can't really learn how to do it properly just by watchinig the telly. I tend to think that Hermione's (and Snape's) actions were done out of desperation. Remus was, technically, already dead. Isn't it better to do something rather than nothing? They couldn't have harmed him more than he already was, and a slim chance is better than none. I hope that satisfies the technicalities! I'm glad you're enjoying the story. Thanks for reading.
Good chapter, let's hope Remus makes it.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm glad you enjoyed. Chapter 9 will tell you whether he makes it or not. Thanks for reading.
Oh, my. That was an amazingly powerful chapter. And Ron is being such an idiot.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
To me, Ron is just being Ron! I am glad you enjoyed this chapter, however. Thanks for reading.
oh heavens! will he survive? will snape be punished? will they in fact "talk about it?" i can hardly wait to tune into the next installment! thanks so much
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
A lot of your questions will be answered in the next chapter. I hope you'll continue to like where this story goes. Thanks for reading.
Thank you so much for the update! It was a dramatic chapter, and a very well written one! I just love this story:-) Please keep Remus alive. Not only does he, just as Severus, deserve to see the end of the war, but way to many of the ones about their age figthing for the ligth side has already been killed. That was one of the things that angered me most about DH, the deaths of Severus, Remus and Fred, JKR killed so many of the good guys and let way to many of the bad guys live. I think Harry deserves, considering that his faith is having to go up against Voldemort, to at least get to keep Remus as a father-figure and "grown-up friend". Not at least, keep Severus safe, he is the main figure after all together with Hermione:-))Update again soon!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I, too, was upset at the many needless and senseless deaths in DH. I know it was a war and all that, but come on, did she have to kill off so many? I hope you will continue to enjoy the story. Thanks for reading.
Wow, everybody's hatin' on Ron. I mean, he's certainly not one of my favs but it seems that all parties are against him. I feel a little bad for him. Everything he does is scrutinized even by his best mates - bummer. I'm wondering if this is to set us up for Ron to take a very big tumble - something drastic like narking out Snape or joiing Voldy or both. Hope not :) Looking forward to continuing this new version of book seven :)
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm glad you're enjoying 'my' version of book 7. I hope you'll continue to enjoy. As for Ron, well, sometimes one has to stumble before one learns to stand tall. And that's all I'm going to say on the subject. Thanks for reading.
oh ho! i see foreshadowing...ron the prat rides again! loving this story and one of the things i especially love is THERE'S NO CAMPING!!! love hereward, too! thanks so much
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I've always been fond of writing "small" characters, giving them a personality, and then fitting them into the story. I'm glad you like Hereward too! Thanks for reading.
That's so cool that he knew she'd be able to brew the potion. I like how they wroked together. I'm still sad about his abuse, though.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I was sad about his abuse, as well, though it is something I can easily imagine happening with the DE's. I think 'grooming' Hermione to brew the much-needed potion makes perfect sense! Thanks for reading.
This story has so much potential; I really hope that it can be completed in time. Thank you very much.
I am loving this story, keep up the great work!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Thank you so much!
This was a great chapter and I was so glad to see an update! I really liked the part at the end with Hermione realizing she and Ron were not meant to be. I eagerly look forward to more!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
More is on the way! Chapter Fifteen is up, and Chapter Sixteen is almost ready to go.Thanks for taking the time to read and review, and I really appreciate the stars!
Great story. Some very good plot twists and devices. I like the secret hideaway in the Himalayas and the fact that the Golden Trio is mostly treated like adults by the other Order members. In a war, I would think you would have to mature more quickly. I hope you update soon!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I think that the war would have forced them to grow up pretty quick. I think JKR 'let' Harry and Hermione grow up a bit, but Ron was still quite immature IMHO. I'm glad you're enjoying. Thanks for reading and reviewing and for leaving behind all the nice shiny stars on your way through.
Great chapter! Glad you are back. Can't wait to see how it develops with Hermione, Remus and Snape.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm glad to be back, as well. RL can be such a bitch sometimes. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
Don't feel bad, I enjoyed the chapter and was able to pick up where you left off. I just love stories that are like a warm pair of fuzzy slippers.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Thanks! I hope you'll continue to enjoy.
That was an interesting chapter. I skimmed the last few chapters before this one to refresh my memory, but I think I need to go back and reread more carefully. I'm glad you posted, I really like this story.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm so glad to know you liked it. I know it's been a while since it was last updated, so I'm not surprised that you had to 'review' the previous chapters. I'm happy you think it was worth the effort. Thanks for reading and reviewing and for all the pretty stars!
What a miserable existence Severus must live through. Now that he has pushed Hermione away it seems he is regretting doing so. Ron is definitely not my favorite character in JKR's books and I think you have him depicted perfectly. I believe he is whiny and selfish and he speaks without thinking many times.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I know I've been rather hard on Ron ... he's just not a favourite of mine, and I'm happy to know you think I've depicted him accurately. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. And thanks for all the shiny stars!
I've really been enjoying this story so far but I must admit I'm not up for a Ron/Remus/Severus/Hermione quadrangle. Surely Hermione has enough male admirers without adding Remus? If not, this is a man too many for me.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I appreciate your comments and your input. Not to worry, though, there won't be a quadrangle! As of the next chapter, Ron will be completely out of the romantic picture (thank goodness!)As for Remus, well, Hermione isn't even aware that he may be interested in her ... at this point, Remus is barely aware himself. And Snape is still pushing her away.Seems like poor Hermione doesn't even have one wizard at the moment, let alone three!I hope you'll return as this story is updated, and I hope you won't be disappointed. Thanks for reading.
As long as you don't abandon it, I'll stay with it–for it's a quite intriguing story line and the characters are real human beings. Really like it very much.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Thank you so much.I assure you, it's not abandoned. It's been side-tracked, but not derailed! Thanks for reading and reviewing.
I am really enjoying this story so far. Glad to see Hermione finally making a decision about Ron but please God not Lupin too? Poor girl - she'll be confused as hell by the time this is all over...and Lupin, Snape, and Ron may all kill each other yet. Of course, Harry will have to get involved and he'll probably just kill'em All off - along with Voldy himself. Grimauld Place will never be the same again - LOL.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm glad to know you're enjoying the story so far. Ron, as of the next chapter, will definitely be 'out of the picture' -- at least as a potential romantice partner for Hermione. As to the rest of it, I hope you'll come back and find out. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
