Book 7 -- The Way it Should Have Been. Harry, Ron, and Hermione don't return to Hogwarts for their seventh year. Instead, they join forces with the Order of the Phoenix to find Voldemort's Horcruxes and save the wizarding world. Members of the Order teach them how to fight. Along the way, Hermione realizes that her feelings for Ron have changed -- and so have her feelings for two other Order members.

I am in my late 50's and I didn't even start reading Harry Potter until after the third book came out. My granddaughter got me 'hooked on Potter,' and while surfing the net one day, I found a fanfiction site. That was it! My first story, "Renaissance," was published on Ashwinder a month later and I've been writing ever since. I am primarily a HG/SS shipper, but I also enjoy reading and writing RL/SS. I live in Tampa, Florida with my wonderfully adoring and supportive husband, and three completely spoiled cats. (Kallie, Mysha, and Smudge {who was the inspiration for the cat that Severus gives Hermione in my story "Renaissance."}) I'm always happy to correspond with my readers and I answer ALL reviews. I'm always looking for plot-bunnies, so feel free to throw some ideas out.

Good chapter, taut with emotions.

Thank you so much.
oooooohhh I like your version much better!!!!! nice thread with Lupin!! more please!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Unlike JKR, I actually plan on having Remus play a rather large role in this story. I hope you'll enjoy where this goes. Thanks for reading and commenting.
OOH I like it when Hermione gets a spine and tells Severus off!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
She's no shrinking violet, is she? Thanks for reading and reviewing.
it's always one step forward and two steps back with him, isn't it? but given the fact he's being abused i guess it's no wonder. i'm curious how you'll handle the whole thing. loving this story. thanks so much and i look forward to more.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm glad you are enjoying. Yes, poor Severus usually has to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into acknowledging what everyone can easily see. The poor dear. Thanks for reading.
I am so glad you do not go into major detail about what happens to Snape when he is with Voldemort. I feel bad enough for what he must endure just from what you have intimated.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Oh, I have enough trouble writing lemons between consenting adults -- I'd never try to write a non-con or dub-con scene. Besides, what isn't said (or shown) can be worse than what is. What is implied is, I think, enough to convey what needs to be known. Thanks for reading.
Severus's idea may work for most young ladies, but somehow I think Hermione will turn the tables on him.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Damn ... how did you figure that out? And here I thought it would be a surprise! Thanks for reading.
Response from sinbad (Reviewer)
Ummmm, I have a knack of pointing out my wishes? Lol I am enjoying the story.
This is excellent - interesting and original plot and good character development. I'm no Ron fan, but he may be a bit *too* much of a wanker, though? Update soon!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Is it actually possible to portray Ron as too much of a wanker? lol ... just kidding. I think I've just about hit the nadir in Ron's wankiness. He'll wallow in ignominious wankerdom for a few chappies and then, maybe, he'll see the light. I'm glad you're enjoying my version of book 7. Thanks for reading.
I finally got a chance to read this one and I am definitely enjoying it. Keep up the good work! I look forward to your next update.

This is an awesome story. You are doing a great job. I am anxiously awaiting the next chapter.

I'm glad you are enjoying. Thank you so much.
The poor dear really doesn't know how to handle a bit of tenderness does he?
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I think he's had very little experience of tenderness in his life, bless his heart. Thanks for reading.
If you shove hard enough it will go away - right? wrong. Poor, Sev, he has to take it from Voldemort and then face Hermione. He can shove but she will still care. Even Harry is starting to see a little. Love the chap - next please?
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Yes, Severus will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into compliance, won't he? lol (Sort of like all of us fans after DH came out ... sigh)I'm glad you liked it.Thanks for reading.
Oh my, even Harry's picked up on something. LOL Poor Snape, all he has to do for / TO Voldemort. O_o ~looking forward to more, doll~
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I've stayed away from painting that horrible picture and relied instead on more subtle intimation. I want to show that Snape is willing to do just about anything to defeat Voldemort, but I didn't think it necessary to show graphic details. And yes, Harry knows something isn't quite right, but I'm sure he doesn't know why things are quite right. I'm glad you're enjoying. Thanks for the lovely comments throughout.
Whoops! Snape's moving solidly into denial mode. I am very much enjoying this story and looking forward to MORE!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm glad you like it so far. There's quite a ways to go, yet, before the end, but updates won't be as quick after chapter twelve. Real life and all that ... sigh. Thanks for reading.
It looks like Severus is taking a trip down the river of de-nile! Nice chap! I am really enjoying your story!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Severus isn't easily convinced, is he? I'm glad you're enjoying the story. Thanks for reading.
AHHHHH nice story line!! just read all chaps to this point!! Love the joining of H,H and R to the order instead of returning to Howarts! And working with the order and Snape working as well!!! Love the developement!
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I think the Order was grossly under-untilised in DH. Once they got Harry away from the Dursleys, we hardly saw their workings again. And I was extremely puzzled (and annoyed!) by the fact that none of the Order members seemed to know that Snape really was on their side. Was Albus Dumbledore the ONLY person who knew Snape's true loyalties? Doesn't seem plausible to me.In my version of Book 7, the Order plays a much larger role, and Snape isn't left OTF -- he actually has allies who know him and believe in him! Thanks for reading.
:) Very entertaining indeed! Can't wait to see the end results! ( not that I want it to end...you can write for as long as you'd like :] )
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Oh, I still have quite a lot to write in this tale. I'll just have to ask everyone to be patient, though. Real life rears its ugly head, which means I can't devote nearly as much time as I'd like to my writing. Once chapter 11 is posted, the updates will be stretched out a bit. I'm really sorry about that, too. Thanks for reading.
Response from baseballbabe122 (Reviewer)
Don't worry about it... real life gets in the way for everyone at some point in their lives. :) Thanks for the heads up, tho. :D
Ron is an idiot. He needs to be dealt with. I like Severus calling Hermione by her name.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Ron will be dealt with, I promise! Thanks for reading.
Stage left: Enter, Severus Snape!! Great entrance for him. "That would be mine."Puuuurfect. :)
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
I'm glad you appreciated it -- I loved writing that line! Thanks for reading.
Isn't it amaizing how three people can live through the same experieices, but each come out a different way. It depends on what you are willing to put in. It seems Ron is unwilling to put anything in, but wants a lot out.
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Even in DH, I don't think Ron was painted with a very favourable brush. I'm just expanding on a theme! Thanks for reading.
Another brilliant update:-) "Poor" Ron, I am enjoying him being portraited as an idiot way to much:-) I blame JKR though, if she hadn't paired him with Hermione (and still as an immature git I must add, 19 years after), I wouldn't dislike him so. I do, in one way, hope that someone will knock some brain into his head before he looses everything. I am not talking about Hermione, he never had her to loose in the first place in my mind. But he can with his attitude very quickly loose what he craves even more; a place in the spotligth for everybody to notice him as Ron Weasley, a briilliant hero. Then again, I do enjoy the Ron-bashing, and with the way he handle the knowlegde of what sexual torture Severus has to go through, I find it hard to have any real compassion for Ron. Quite frankly, I am quite happy if I can continue to dislike him as I do:-)I love how you have Harry mature though. It makes so much more reason that he has to grow up rathe quickly with regards to the task he has been saddled. He is smart, and shear luck can only take you so far when your fate is to face one of the most dangerous Wizards ever born with the knowlegde that one of you have to die. At some point that fate will make you grow up and grasp all knowlegde available and all help you can get with the faint hope that some of it will help you make it ghrough the end. Update again soon, getting updates to this story really makes my day:-))

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your thought provoking comments. I know I'm being rather hard on Ron -- but I just can't help myself! You're right in that someone needs to give him a slap upside the head!I hope you will continue to enjoy the story. Thanks for reading.
Ron's such a git ain't he?
Response from StormySkize (Author of Journey out of Darkness)
Sometimes he is, yes. Thanks for reading.
Dang, ol' Ronniekins has it out for Severus! Grow up, Ron! Now! I am enjoying this story so very much and am looking forward to future chapters.

Maturity comes later to some, doesn't it? (And never to a few!) Thanks for reading.
