Reviews for The Love You Take
OK, so I'll admit it, I read the first chapter and thought, A sex curse?! What a silly plot device...and then ignored the thought and became addicted anyway. Now I only wonder two things: 1) How many cold showers can a man take before he gets pneumonia; and 2) Will anyone ever get to enjoy a nice uninterrupted breakfast in this story? They've got to keep their strength up, you know
LOL @ Paracelsus with eggy hair! I do fear that the boys won't be able to abide by that agreement, or not for long anyway. Hermione's embarassment when she thinks they know and relief when she learns they really don't is achingly sad. And Severus' losing battle with his sense of honor is hard to watch, even though part of me is rooting for him to just surrender. In other words: you're making this very compelling and believable. Excellent job.
Thank you for the update, another intence chapter! I know Severus is a man of honour, and with a will to do what is rigth that surpass most people, but boy does he get challenged:-) I migth not have read as well as I should, because I can't remember that the curse on Hermione is time-related? Dumbledore says that Hermione will be back in class after the weekend, is he confidant that Severus will find a cure by then, it doesn't seems like the curse is any easier on Hermione with the passing of time, rather the opposite? Or, is the curse more or less lifted if Severus gives into Hermione and make love to her, and Dumbledore assumes that he will do so? And, will Harry and Ron really be able to not ask questions? Update again soon!!!
Sweet, hot and sad all at once. When will he figure out she needs his tenderness, too? :sigh: ;-D
I do love this story. Thank you for writing it!
still red-hot. Sure can't wait for more.
methinks Severus should design a realistic *ahem*, simulacrum for her to pleasure her with if he won't, well, do it. *snort*
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
Unfortunately, she cannot succeed without his assistance - it's part of the curse.
I think he's gonna HAVE to do "it."
all I can think of, because of the title, is (forgive me for the bad pun) "more ass" *mind in gutter*
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
LOL! I'll see if I can provide some MORE ass for you.
LOL!
*smirk* I wouldn't need any spell or potion to find our potions master irrestible. . . .
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
You know, I woudn't either ... and I think that's the reason why we forget that HERMIONE, at her age, has NO reason to feel that way about him.
Yet.
;)
The title of this story matches wonderfully the undercurrents one feels behind each emotion. I love the pull. I just have to wonder and worry where this story would go after the weekend. Once they succumb to the inevitable and return to their regular lives. I'm afraid of this change.
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
You're wise to be fearful, I think. Where *can* it take them? And how can her ungovernable needs be managed without other people finding out what's up with her? Thank you for your comments!
The part in which his grandma and Dumbledore flirt was impeccable! Grandson jealousy! Hehehe!Evil cliffie, as always, hm? Well, what can we do, but sit and wait! Great chapter.

Author's Response: Will do!
English is not my native language . Soo after rewriting this chapter a few times I find difficult to bilief that 18 old girl , a virgian , find spanking in that manner from her theacher , no mather how good it may bee is acceptable.
The story is beautifle , and I mast thell you that i am utterly unpatient for more.

Dear Lora, I am sorry if Hermione's response to the spanking was upsetting to you in any way. I think it may just be indicative of a certain prediliction she has, of which she was previously unaware. Thank you so much for your comments!
About time he admitted that to himself!I do hope he told as much to Hermione, too. Is that too optimistic of me? Well, I suppose we'll find out!
I really appreciated the subtle, though at times poignant, difference in tone and maturity in the narrative voice of this chapter as opposed to the last. If we hadn't already got quite used to the pattern, this in itself would make it clear whose viewpoint governed the narration and interaction.
The beginning of the chapter was quite nice. Hermione may have been a bit brash and impulsive once she allowed her tears to subside and the sense of humiliation to recede. However, I think a great proportion of that represents her unwillingness to acknowledge that this curse is completely besting her and taking over her faculties. It would be perfectly understandable were that the case, given that this spell has already taken so much control away from her in the most primal of ways.
The interaction between Snape and Hermione in this chapter was spot-on. There are so many elements that complicate it here, and we can already ascertain that on a certain level. It's noticeable that they're both trying to maintain some level of decorum and propriety between them, though so many of the lines have been blurred if not downright erased. In any other setting, Hermione's retort regarding the assignment and her appellation of him as 'Professor' could have been construed as banter. Here, it's clearly not; not in a situation as convoluted as this, where they were both thrust into something they cannot control and have little to no choice over.
Despite his experience with dissembling, it must be quite difficult for Snape to maintain such a cool, aloof, matter-of-fact facade about him as he interacts with Hermione. Her viewpoint here makes it plainly obvious that it unnerves her, but it's quite clear that that's not at all Snape's intent. In a sense, his 'normal,' civil tone could suggest a slight shift in her regard for her already, despite his best efforts to remain as unaffected as feasible throughout the whole debacle.
Again it's quite impressive how Snape manages to attend his duty while projecting an attitude that suggests he's drawing on an ability to separate himself from the process. The description of his dialogue for the majority of this chapter is 'neutral,' which to me suggests a flat, controlled, very nearly monotonous tone that would bespeak of the perfunctory quality of his gestures.
‘I have very little choice in this [...] but what choice I have, I will exercise [...]'
Oh, yes - that is so like him, and so very understandable at the same time. It's also in perfect keeping with his attitude and his mental process over the entirety of the last chapter, where he strove to keep his regard of the experience academic and impersonal. Again, an example of his distancing tactics, which are as understandable as they are welcome (given the student-teacher status and the compulsion aspect - of the curse Hermione is under as well as of the orders he is under from the Bastard Headmaster).
I don't know that Hermione's response to the spanking will have caused him much surprise - she is under such a powerful spell, after all. On the other hand, I expect her directness and the straightforward manner in which she communicated her desires and directed him may have shocked (and unwillingly inflamed) him. That reaction would certainly have been coupled with the speculation on his part of the possibility that Hermione wouldn't have been titillated by the spanking if the natural predilection wasn't already there; and I do think it would unnerve him greatly if said speculation proved titillating for him after all the efforts he seems to be undergoing to remain unaffected.
I'm already wincing in sympathy, just in case an ice-cold shower is looming on Severus' horizon. I strongly suspect he's not about to have a wank, at any rate.
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
It pleases me to hear you say that you think their interactions here are spot-on - as you know, being an author yourself, nothing is more pleasing than the hint that we might, indeed, be getting it "right" between these two!
Once again, you chose the turning point of the chapter for comment - what he says as he puts her over her knee to spank her bottom! "Shocked and unwillingly inflamed" are perfect descriptors for his reaction to her request.
As you know, you were bang on mark about the cold shower - your reading of his character - at least, as *I* write him - is masterful.
Poor Severus. Honestly, at this stage, I'm feeling even rather more sympathy for him than for Hermione - while neither really has any choice in the matter, Hermione at least (in her lucid moments) can take solace in knowing that she was cursed and has to act the way she does (plus at least she's getting physical pleasure out of it, no matter how embarrassing and horrifying the moments in between).

Hi,
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
! I certainly do think Severus deserves our sympathy, at this stage: he is forced into action against every precept he holds dear. Thank you for your comments!
Oho! Whoopise. Poor Professor Snape. :p And she has no idea.
Guess he better not get Summoned in the next 71 1/2 hours . . .
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
*snickers*
I don't think this fic is one where he gets "summoned" very often. Voldemort knows Severus has a job, and he likes having him where he is. Good thing, as you say, considering the "job" he has before him ...
Thanks for note, my dear!
-how hard it is for those who thrive on being in control, to loose control... be it by chance or circumstance.Severus seems to be having a "hard" time of things now...enjoying another enticing story! I always am impressed by your characters- trueness-is that a word?- true to cannon/believability...especially ss/hg!! -wanting more... now... please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
Well, if trueness wasn't a word before, it is now! Thanks for the lovely vote of confidence,
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)

Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
*chuckles*
*can only hope you will find more cigar-worthy moments in coming chapters*
If anything is dubious it's on Severus's side. Wonderful chapter! Too funny!
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
Thank you, Sinbad - I'm so pleased that you can find humour where I try to lighten things up, a bit.
Mmmm mmm mmm mmm mmmmmmmmmWhere have I heard that before???***** 'cuz there's spankin' involved *wink* And feed your Muse whatever it was that you fed her to create Severus to turn a lovely shade of nasty. Please?
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)

She scarcely had time to wonder what sound he wished to conceal before she was sound asleep.
His raging erection, perhaps? ;)
Lovely, as always. :)

His raging erection, perhaps? ;)
Oh, at the very least! LOL! Thanks for the note, PureLush!
You know they are in for a hard weekend, I gather. And she is going to be sore. And he is going to get crazy with desire. And we are all going to look forward to your next installment at the edges of our seats. Waiting for you to write more is going to be a torture of desire for us too. What a weekend (week? month?) lies ahead!
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
Oh, yes, she is sure to be sore! Poor Severus - I'm so awful to him. I'm terribly pleased to know you like the story so well, for all that, Nata. Thank you!
Response from nata (Reviewer)
With this third response alert in a day, I hoped there might be another chapter in the queue, and you might be using the extra time after uploading to respond to us. But it is not so. This is just a response day then? Thank you for taking time to let us know what you think about what we think about your writing. My opinion: your stories are a pleasure to read.
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
You'll be happy (I hope!) to know that the story is fully outlined and that chapter six is begun. I imagine the whole thing will be posted over the next month. Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm -
but no, no new chapter today. Sorry! I am trying to do my part in thanking you all for your support - I do want you to know that we authors read and cherish your comments!
I bet he's been affected by her asking to be spanked!
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
Oh, I agree! How could he fail to be affected - it's such a kinky thing to ask for, after all.
Oh this is too good. Update soon as you can!
Response from Subversa (Author of The Love You Take)
Thank you, Sinbad! I think these updates should come fairly quickly. I'm so pleased you like it.
I have now re-read this whole, wonderful opus up to this point, and it's even better the second time around. You claim to have started this as a PWP but seeing where it has come I can't see how this intricate plot hadn't been planned from the very beginning. The details throughout are enthralling. Even better than that is the emotional development of these two characters over the life of the story. You have very credibly and very movingly brought Severus all the long way to the point at which he realizes that he is suffering from "something far more frightening, something horrific, something lethal" than anything the Dark Lord himself could devise, and that it is something utterly incredible.I am now waiting patiently (but not!) to see this through to the end. This is a true classic, written by a master. And don't answer me---finish it!~applauds~
