Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.

At last, I get to sit down and enjoy this chapter! Yet another wonderful chapter. I really enjoyed the vow, and Bella's escape. Very much looking forward to te next chapter. Can we expect it anytime soon?

I'm working on the next chapter now; it's about 1/3rd finished. Believe me, I want to get it written as badly as you want to read it (but I know you of all people understand that)!Thank you so much!

Awesome. Severus as Tom's son - excellent twist.
Author's Response: Thank you. I'm glad it works for you!
I use a mobile phone to surf the internet. I simply couldn't put my phone down untill finishing this. It is one of the finest thing I've read in a very long time. You deserve all the awards you've won and I wish I had my won personal award to give you. Please keep writting forever.
Please Lucius catch Bella before something really bad happens. Especially to hermione. Because Severus won't stand it and probably became more evil than Voldie himself seeking for his revenge.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, you make a very strong point. If Bella gets away with anything, she won't get away with it for long and it won't be pretty!

This is truly a sizzling, intriguing, riveting and stunning story. You completely deserve any and all awards and plaudits you will no doubt receive. I am quite envious of your writing talent and your unique style. You are able to convey so much with so few words. I love the syntaxing, the imagery and the emotional depth you manage to convey with such subtlety. I am thoroughly ashamed that I have not reviewed this story before now, but seriously, if this is a hint of the future of the HG/SS fandom, then I am in exalted company indeed. I just love, love, love this tale!

Dude, come to the darkside! What is Sev gonig to do with his new powers, I wonder. What havoc is Bella going to cause, and how long can Hermione hold out? Hopefully you won't keep us waiting too long for the next update, there are too many threads dangling. Awesome chapter.

A couple of questions: 1. I thought that the Dark Lord was terrified of his own death and created the Horcruxes to ensure his immortal life. Why then is he talking of the end of his life here? That makes no sense.2.I can understand Harry seeking out Hermione, but writting seven feet of parchment - who are all the letters to? Severus? Why not write to Harry and explain?3. If Hermione is the brightest witch of the age and to quote Hagrid 'there isn't a spell Hermione can't do' why has she sudden'y become powerless? She had loads of power before she married Snape. Sudden'y she has nothing? I find this really hard to swallow.I was really into this story right up until this (and the last) chapter. It just seems so Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker to me, it's nearly annoying. Please, when you read this keep in mind that the nominations you've recieved - You HAVE TOTALLY EARNED! This story is fantastic. It's just I'm reeling over this chapter and in a big state of confusion. I have a feeling you'll unravel everything, explain what is going on better (I hope) so that this all makes sense.Congratualtions on the nominations, btw. I know that this story is frequently on the list when people ask for a great read - and I agree. I look forward to reading where you'll take this from here and how you will adress my issues.

Oh dear. This is a difficult review to respond to for several reasons. One: Some of the things that you raise because you don't think they make sense are parts of a bigger whole that has yet to be completed and revealed, so I really can't resond other than to say, it's not over and hopefully you'll understand more later....Two: It's possible that even when it's all revealed you still may not like it.Three: Hermione's power has been greatly damaged and diminished by the damage she did to her soul. She's not as strong as she was prior to their marriage because the bond that she and Severus formed changed everything for her, and then when she destroyed it, it had unforeseen consequences that had nothing to do with her being smart or powerful. In some situations there simply isn't a "good" solution. She took the only action she believed had a chance of ending well, but there were (and are) no guarantees.I actually have avoided making explanations or apologies for any aspect of my story in the past, although I know it's very common to do so in author notes or when responding to comments. I generally feel like it's a failure in my writing if I have to do so, and also feel it unlikely that people raising the questions will like the answers, so I usually just let things pass, but you stated your comments in such a way that I feel compelled to answer.I'm sorry if that annoys you and makes no sense. I honestly don't know what more to say about it, because as I said above, things are happening for a reason but there's no guarantee that you will like those reasons any more than you like the turn the story has taken now. Thank you for reviewing and letting me know what you think.

Thank you for not being offended by my review. I appreciate how, as an author, you have a vision that I, the reader, only see as you reveal yourself to me. I appreciate your comments that biger parts of the picture are yet to be revealed. I will follow this and see where it goes - because I am so intrigued. Thank you for explaining the question about Hermione's strenght, and I see what you mean, after going back and rereading it again. It's still quite scary and nail bitting for me to see her like this. It doesn't matter if it's annoying, and doesn't make sense, I don't know what you know. I'm sure that even if the story turns and twists I will still follow to the end, simply because I'm dying to know how this all works out (or if it doesn't)Keep typing... and thank you for your reply.

No prob--I don't mind answering questions unless I'm concerned that I'll be giving away things that I don't want to give away. Once it's all completed I have agreed to answer questions in my LJ blog, and I look forward to that!Thank you!

Amazing...it took me awhile to read through this story, mainly cause I kept backtracking when I realized I missed something...but now that I'm finally caught up I can't help but be amazed at the tangled web in which we find everyone, mind you I'm sitting here in anxious anticipation for the next chapter! Thank you so much for this story, I'm captivated by the plot and characterizations you've drawn throughout! :D

Wow! I am astonished, I don't know which side Severus is on, and I cannot imagine how Hermione even begins to hold herself together. I look forward to see what comes next. Thanks!

Ooh, something seems wrong with Lucius going after Bella: it just feels that they'll turn on Hermione together. I'm queasy with uncertainty as I await the next chapter. Excellent work as usual!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, I'm worried about Lucius myself. Sigh. 'Tis very difficult to predict.Thank you!

<i>"Miss Granger, what am I going to do with you?" "I hope it involves sex." "Oh, it definitely involves sex." ...They trapped him, held him, and what started as a throb and ache and need between his legs turned into a throb and ache and need in his chest.</i>*sigh* Happy Birthday to Hermione!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks for the flashback. I don't even remember those lines!
Response from christev (Reviewer)
I limited myself to only those. There were so many inthe chapter to choose from. I'm glad I read it snuggled up under the covers, all comfy. Seemed appropriate. :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Ssssh! Don't tell, but now you've got me rereading it, too!
Dear Mia,I'm reading this for a second time. I don't remember if I reviewed you much the first time around. Then, as now, I kind of sped through, trying to eat up the story as fast as I could. And I just love it. I love the romance developing between Hermione and Severus, the ache she has to deny him nothing, to try to do for him, to help make up for the situation she put him in. I'm taking a break right now, just after Chapter 33, where Severus dragged her up to Dumbledore's office to talk about the implications of her reciting her vows while they made love. And what a scene that was, when Severus went to great lengths to make her able to enjoy the act of making love! I love how Severus finds himself so taken with her, even though he doesn't quite admit it, and doesn't know what to do with that fact in the least. In fact, there are so many things I just love about the story - the tenderness of feeling between them; the whole tea thing they share, and how Hermione makes sure Dobby knows to always bring 'the Professor's special tea; the protectiveness she feels for him that has now manifested as wandless, wordless, almost thoughtless magic erupting from her fingertips, and the lessons with Hooch. And so much more. I can't wait to jump back into the story now, but I wanted you to get this 'mid-term review.' Thanks for such a great story!Christev

Again, these words mean so much. Writing this story was an act of devotion that goes beyond explanation, and knowing that you respond to it is a balm to my soul. Thank you so very, very much.
Wonderful story. This is the third time I've read it and it is still my favorite. Are you going to write Gussie's story?
Why is she so important to Hogwarts? Is she going to run the wizarding world? We want to know!
Bravo, Dawn
I'd like Ch 54 ... now ... please? Pretty please???:)) You're amazing. And, btw, I hate Albus at the moment. The Bastard.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm working on 54. (Ask Ginny!) And working, and working, and working....Thank you!
Response from DeeMichelle (Reviewer)
yeah, well, *I* want it before she gets it! ;*wink* Truly, I'm glad I finally listened to her and started reading this fic. It's been a while since I've enjoyed and gotten 'into' something so deeply.Thank you for that.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Ginny sent you to me at exactly the right moment, because following you through this story has been amazing. Thank YOU for being such an incredible reviewer!
I have no idea of how to respond to this chapter. It's as if I can hardly breathe.wow
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I know. Sigh....Thank you for sticking with it.

How can I not???????
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'll take comfort in that reaction!
HOLY COW! I can't believe Dumbledore would force him to ...Grrr again!!! ((still loving this, but I'm anxious))
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I believe anything of Dumbledore after DH. If I'd been reading fanfic and saw the stuff people wrote about him prior to that I'm not sure I would have accepted it but now I see how wise those fanfic writers were!
I still want to know what she's up to!!!! Grr .. ;)
I'm having a quite Saturday afternoon, reading your fic, and getting caught up with you. I hope you're having a great wknd!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Right now I'm having a wonderful weekend reading your reviews!
WTF??? Why did she take them there???? I wanted to know, dang it!!! :))angst-filled chapter that it is!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh yes, the angst is beginning. ::wibble:: (Yes, I wibble at my own angst!)
Hmm ... what is the Malfoy prat up to now???
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh! He is SUCH a prat, isn't he? With him you never know.
I liked Hermione's birthDAY. What a lovely way to celebrate ... over and over and over.I really like Hooch, too. I've not read that character in anything I've particulary liked until now.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Hooch won my heart and I never expected her to. I'm not sure how that happened but she has been a force of nature!
Miss mia,...look what you've done...!
And, you've saved the wizarding world from a terrible fate. I barely survived DH. You made me breath again. I'm so sorry Fred had to die but at least you didn't kill off half of The Order with all their beloved familiar owls, fuzzy kneazles and pigmi puffs, not to mention Teddy's mum and dad.
I want it to be so, Is Gussi really Fred?
You made the end a triumph that lifts my heart to soar over the remnents left by the other woman.
You saved our Darling Boy and Saved Hermione and Ron from a miserable marriage. Because they were not a match.
I loved the shock of finding out Tom was Severus' father. That turn of plot was gut wrenching and Our Darling Boy stood at the edge of a dark precipice that you could have pushed him into. You waited for the last possible minute for us to see which side Severus would choose, and I could have forgiven him either way.
I wish I could create such a work that is so complete is filled with so many emotions and secrets and mysteries, then you wrapped it in a bow and give us a satisfying end.
This is my second time reading this story. I intend to leave more reviews the next time I read it.
I hope you haven't moved on and gotten over it so that years later as others read this lovely work of yours and sigh with happiness. You still care about the reviews.
Oh how I love it! I am sorry to see the story end, but you ended it at the prefect place. The complex yet dependent relationship between the Professor and Miss Granger is fascinating. Bringing in aspects of Muggle religion or magic and Wizarding magic gives the story greater depth than JKR's work. I love the diaglog between them. It is difficult to say Hermione has been captured "in character" because she is placed in situations she would never be in normally in the HP world. However, the essence of her personality, I think, is spot on. As for Professor Snape, he seems perfect to me.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I understand your comment about "in character." I generally couldn't write from a persepective of "is this canon characterization" because, as you say, the situations we see Hermione in in canon don't stretch this far. I could only write her as she presented herself to me in my world and the relationship with 'my' Severus. A lot of people feel that they are canon and I'm happy for that, but I have to admit that it was more important to me that they were true to what was in my heart and head than canon.Thank you for your wonderful review. I really appreciate knowing you liked my story.
This chapter was beautiful. Truly beautiful. :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
It was such a joy to write. I'm glad you liked it.
