Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.

GRUESOME CLIFFIE!!!Its 1 a.m. and I need sleep!grrrrrrr((still loving this!))
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I hope you got your sleep! Sorry I'm so slow catching up on your fabu reviews, and I hope you don't think I don't appreciate them because I'm loving each and every one!
Such a lecture-like way of telling him that they're soul mates. Poor Hermione!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think she was just rattling at that point, desperately trying to find a way NOT to tell him. LOL!
This ch almost made me cry.The unfairness of it all ...
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Aw... thank you!
Oh, the tension!!!!!You *do* know how hooked I am on this fic, right??
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, thank you so much.
This is the first chapter that actually made me cry while I was writing it, when they were in the RoR and she thought he didn't want her.... Sigh.
This chapter is entirely too sad ... and much too real.Nicely done :))
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. It was painful to write.
Good for Severus! Recognizing her status as an independent adult. Now that they have obfuscated their conjugal activities from the Ministry, they can enjoy each other in as much peace as they can manage, which will doubtless be not very much.I'm rationing out the updates of my favorite WIPs as treats for making progress on my own fic. Some days, it's the only way I get anything done. ;)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much for the review! I'm glad you liked this chapter. And your fic--is it being posted somewhere? I don't think I know about it!
Mia,This has to be one of the best stories I have ever read! I have read quite a few stories on here, most of them, in the more intimate parts include graphic, sordid, details. I really enjoyed how you displayed what they were doing, yet left it as something special between them.I also really enjoyed the development of Severus. His change from greasy, spiteful git, to some one who cared for someone else, to the man who would do anything, no matter how dark, just to be with the one he loved, to the loving and selfless father.Kudos! Seriously.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I can't thank you enough for your wonderful review. This was an 18-month journey for me, and became an obsession that had me by the throat and wouldn't let me go. It pleases me greatly that people still read it and like it.
Dumbledore is beginning to remind me of Ivan the Terrible, but he doesn't have mercury poisoning for an excuse. *livid glare*
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! Oh, that's hysterical!
I love the library scene and the twins' reaction! Classic!!!((heading to bed, will hopefully return tomorrow))
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
The Weasley twins were my favorite characters *until I was introduced to the world of SS/HG*.I adore those twins!
heaven help me !!! hahhanow my hubby's reading this, too :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Goodness! I don't think I've ever had a husband read it! Let me know what he thinks.
holy crap!
((that's a good thing btw))
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! (I'm glad you clarified that, by the way! LOL!)
Response from DeeMichelle (Reviewer)
:) you're welcome. I figured I should, cuz it usually isn't a good thing when folks type that.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Very true!
ohmygosh! How will you get him out of *that*?????
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm assuming that's a rhetoriical question.... because I'm clearly not going to answer it. Ahem.
Response from DeeMichelle (Reviewer)
aww, c'mon!!! yes ... it was rhetoricalI don't wanna be spoiled!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
At least you can spell rhetorical!
ebmracing the emptiness ... what a sad way to surviveI love this chapter though, and the way she 'forgives' him without really stating that fact. ((sorry I've not been around lately. had LOTS to do this past week/weekend))
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, I'd think he'd have to embrace emptiness, not to allow too much that was about hope or anything good, if he survived dealing with the Dark Lord. Sigh. Thank you.
This chapter is such a wonderful introduction to the now married interaction between Miss Granger and Professor Snape, and it includes so many of the little things that will come to have such meaning between them, such as the heavenly tea, the scent of his shaving soap, his transfigured white shirt, and of course the red sheets. The bathtub scene and the consternation between the two of them is wonderful comedy. Then their preparations to attend the Welcoming Feast and Sorting, with the Professors' passionate kiss, ends the chapter on a surge of heat.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much. I like revisiting this chapter for the very reasons you state. It really takes me back in time, to the time I wrote it, and the time when they were first facing the enormity of what faced them.
Even as I cringed at the beating Severus was receiving at the hands of Lucius, I loved your characterization of Voldemort in this chapter. From his petulant whining to his brazen amusement of Severus' responses to his inquiry of his motives, it was a scene both well-played and unusual for what is typically written for Voldemort. Then, poor Hermione! The TRAMA, poor dear! I can't imagine the horror, after being brutalized (for all intents and purposes), and then needing to pull her wits about her enough to care for Severus' injuries. Thank goodness she thought of Dobby, though he plainly bolted at the first chance. I'm quite sure she is self-castigating herself for her "plan".
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I really did enjoy writing the scenes with Voldemort, and moreso as they grew more complicated and more intense. As for Hermione, boy, does she feel a lot of guilt for her ill-advised plan!
Oh. My. God.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Believe me, I know.
Your story is an amazing amalgam of the struggle to "become" ... to become loved, to become lovable, to become better than we are. I have read this most beautiful interpretation of what Milton was trying to teach us when he wrote "Paradise Lost," and I congratulate you on one of the most stunning acts of fiction it has been my pleasure to read. Well done! Please take however much time you need to "get it right" and post new chapters when you can -- when they are right for the story you want to tell. We are all beside ourselves to find out how this will all be resolved, but this is your story, and you are the only one who can tell it -- and in your own time.Sinceely, Beth
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Your comments leave me staggered and awed.Thank you.
That was very beautiful. ^^Um yeah, I'm really bad at reviewing because I get sucked into the story so much that I totally forget to resurface to write a review. But I'm still reading and enjoying it very much. ^^
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Don't worry. I consider it a compliment that you do get sucked into the story. Thank you so much for stopping to let me know, though!
Whew! I wasn't as behind as I thought I was.Wow, what a ride! The flirting mixed with recriminations, the utterly delicious lemons, and then ... Dumbledore. Wow. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it!
Dammit, I know what AD is saying, but the selfish shipper & Snapist I am wants your Hermione & Severus to grow old together with all my heart. I just hope that the latest vision the Mirror of Erised granted him is True and he will be free to let nothing and no-one but Love and his Wife 'master' him.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
no-one bu Love his Wife master him--what a lovely way of putting it. Thank you.
Response from ylang_two (Reviewer)
You're most welcome. Dumbles is a blind, old, meddling, manipulative Fool. How dare he continue to control Severus with his most despicable invocation of Severus' young Error and so-called "Saint Lily." At least Voldy is honest and seems to know Severus better. All the angst Snape suffered from becoming a DE & his unrequited, pathetic fixation on LEP are blasted away with the profound sanctity/sacrament & healing that is his marriage with the Indomitable Miss Granger. He is a redeemed man, many times over. Too bad no one seems to see that, least of all Dumbs.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You write such beautiful expressions of my story! It truly warms me to see how you interpret it, which is the way I see it, too.
guess I'm still a bit Confunded by what happened in the Bed Room. And just what the heck happened with that Healing?!? Hermione is all kinds of Ballsy, though!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, she's ballsy, for sure. I'm glad you're enjoying her!
Yowzah@! She is sooo magnificent, it's scary. but that Evil Bed of S.S. . . ! Oh noes. What the Hades was she trying to prove??
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
More will be revealed about the bed....
I too cannot believe that the glorious, sacred something they have between them can come from the Dark! Draco has sour grapes and is just trying to mess with her mind, the git.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. He IS a git!
What a glorious chapter, so full of meaning and emotion. I understand now when you said it was difficult to write. I love the emotion behind your writing. The fist part was beautiful and fun, I love the small interations between the two of them. The second part with Albus just made me want to know what is coming up next.....oh, and when she said 'grow old with me'...sigh, there are no words.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much for your review. It's clear to me that from this point forward every chapter is going to be difficult to write, as I can attest right now. Your review means a lot,
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
it helps me hope that it's worth the effort, that the time I'm taking is having an impact. Thank you!
What did he dose her with?!? I guess I'll have to read on to find out. but I don't think it's poison, despite what Moldy wants. Is she preggers yet?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
By now you've read ahead and found the answers to your questions and left another review, but I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to let me know what you're thinking and how the story is working for you!
