Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
I'm torn now, my compassionate side hopes Hermione slept through that little tete-a-tete, but the innder sick puppy is hoping she heard every delicious word! And the puppy's winning! Make 'em suffer! Angst is good for the soul.

Is it evil for us to love angst so?
I have come back to re-read this story after several years because when I first read it I LOVED it. It is one of Top favorite stories. I’ve never been able to forget this story, and I first read it in 2008. Years later I never forgot about it, and it continues to captivate me.
This chapter in particular always had me fascinated with the strength behind the dialogues. Especially Hermionie’s dialogue saying "Hermione Snape wants to know who is in this bed, whether it's a man who has spent a long, difficult night and needs comfort from his wife—or whether it's a Death Eater looking for a quick blow job from a whore!"
WOW. I don’t know how to explain how vivid that phrase it. I can imagine perfectly the character screaming that to Snape. I would KILL to see this reenacted in a movie. It’s such a powerful phrase.
I’m not saying that is the only thing that stands out from this chapter, I mean the whole story it self is a jewel. I’m just in love with the verbal power this chapter has. Again, congratulations for writing such a great story.

Thank you so very much. To know that my story touched you so deeply that you still remember it and enjoy it warms my heart more than I can possibly express.
Response from RaeNight (Reviewer)
This review was suppose to be on the next chapter! lol..don't know how it ended up on the previous chapter. bummer! lol. Oh well, the important part was to get across the fact that you know you're an incredible writer who's stories continue to fascinate readers!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I didn't look at the chapter itself so I assumed it was the right one. Ha! It's all good.

Not caring whether the bloody brats blew themselves to Hades or not. (Words fail.)...Which was why it took a moment for the change on Potter's features to register, and why Potter managed to dart around him before he reacted— And spun to see Potter running toward the door opening in the wall— And hitting it with a dull thud when it disappeared a split-second before he got there. Now, you knew that it would have been just unfair to let Harry in and Sevi not, didn't you? ...It's so cute how she knows all his classes, and that she reminds him of them......Miss Granger, if you aren't in our bed tonight, I'll tear this castle apart stone by stone until I find you.You know, no matter how emotionally stirring a chapter has been, THIS is a sentence that puts that satisfied smile back on my face....Everything that happens in the very last paragraph is so, so sweeeet...(And so well deserved!)SeveraPS: Congrats on the chapter title, it's beautiful.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
This is the first time I ever wept while writing. When she thought he didn't want her, and she was trying so hard to be brave and to adjust to that--I just fell apart. (sigh...)I'm glad you liked this chapter. It's special to me.
Very twisted chapter...Have I ever told you that I find your approach on Hooch highly interesting? (To even include her in a story is an interesting choice - and a good one.)Oh - and could you tell Hermy not to be too hard on Sevi? Because with everything THAT man has going on I think he deserves some leisure...(And he definitely deserves two courses of excellent cuisine - if he doesn't dawdle ) Severa
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much! I sometimes wonder if we authors look vain in our responses when we say things like this (and fortunately I know I'm not the only one who does this so at least it's a shared vanity, if it's vanity) but--I like Hooch, too. A lot. I didn't plan her. She just kind of was... there. One thing I did consciously was try to avoid going where lots of Marriage Law fics had gone before, which had me constantly making choices like this one--use Hooch instead of Minerva/Lupin/Albus/somebody who usually supports her.I found it made the writing exciting and fun because I often wasn't sure what was going to happen; I didn't have a lot of canon or fanon to fall back on.
Did someone steal your keyboard? Holding it for ransom? Perhaps you heard the pitter-patter of little elf feet skitter across the floor just before the monitor shimmered into nothingness? I KNOW there must be a good reason for no updates.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, you are good for my soul! I've been such a hard working Mia, I've got three chapters almost ready so the next three will come up quickly, and one is in the queue right now!snapeaddiction's response: Isn't it funny, what's good for one person's soul is another person's total jones. lol. Now what number are we?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Five!
That Draco! What a horrible, jealous prat! It's so funny that Hermione doesn't want to hear the traditional endearments from Severus, just the "insulting" ones.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, if he's not insulting, he doesn't seem natural. LOL!
I am not going to be able to tell you how much I loved this chapter. I am not so good at articluating. I thought it was so moving the way Hermione figured out his twisty little brain, the way she confronted him, her clinging to him it was just GUH! So well done. Thank you
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You're articulating very well, and I can't thank you enough!
Lucius and the Dark Lord always testing, always poking you would think they have trust issues? I am anxious just like HErmione to learn more!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Trust issues? LOL! Yes, I would say they do, at the very least!
You do write the sex very well. Whew is it hot in here? I hope they will stop fighting against their vows now. To seek solace in eachother would be comforting I think.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!
I know it was not meant to be a funny moment but I laughed at this line "Oh, yes, and because I had one chivalrous moment in my entire fucking life, I'm bringing the wizarding world as we know it to an end!"So both Hermione and Severus are lying to Dumbledore. Severus has fallen in love, Hermione is unwilling to do anything to disobey her husband...rut row.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm SO glad you laughed at that line! I realize tucking a funny line into a serious moment means the funny line may not get its due, but I loved that line and am very glad to know it's appreciated!
holy shit! That was some very intense coaxing of an orgasm out of HErmione. I continue to be amused that they use formal titles with eachother even when naked. ZOINKs what happened at the end? Severus is ruining the post coital moments.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, they remain formal. LOL!
And Sev, oh Sev, doesn't know how to restrain his reactions!
But I do know that this tendency to let me wander through your memories at will is not natural, and it has to stop! Sometimes, you simply have to talk to me."Is there something lurking in Hermione's past? Something buried in her memories? ((is nervous))Why was Severus asking all those unrelated questions at the begining of the chapter? I couldnt understand how they fit in with seducing her.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
He was asking questions that would answer the same questions you have--trying to understand what was holding her back.
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
He didn't get very good answers did he...
OH MY GOODNESS what a cliff hanger. I am running off to the next chapter!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
::squeeee!::
I am so glad you're enjoying this!
I dont know I think the twins were the perfect escorts. Crazy and always willing to help. Glad to see Hermione and Severus have made up, even if its only a little bit.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I adore the twins! And I think they are perfect escorts (short term).
I am tickled with Voldy and Severus sharing muggle jokes together. Too bad Hermione couldnt hex Narcissa directly. I do hope that was a favorite tea pot. Bitch. Now why does Severus have to stay? I am worried.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! Yes, both being half-bloods they have each had some exposure to Muggle life, though Voldy probably not as much!
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
Did you mean to say "both having grown up in the muggle world they have some exposure..." ? Because I thought Snape was a pureblood here? With a muggle step father? The only reason I fixated on the pureblood thing is I am working on a pureblood!snape quiz & these stories are hard to find. Please do not be annoyed with me!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You're right, of course! He's a pureblood here, but raised with a muggle stepfather!
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
Whewwww!
This audience with Voldy has as much build up as prom did! Ha!I like your twist on how Voldy treats his followers. Makes much more sense to me then the random violence which is often found in fan fic.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'll admit, I felt challenged to find a different approach to Voldemort, and once I got a handle on him, I have enjoyed writing him a lot!
Hooch my new favorite character! Will we ever get to learn the back story about Hooch? This tea with Voldy is going to be intense isnt it?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, you'll find out more about Hooch in good time. I adore her!
And tea will be great fun. LOL!
"Oh!" she said, clearly delighted. "They smell like lemon!"A funny shout out to all the fangirls!!! I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying wealthy Hermione. Mrs. Granger was hilarious with that line "Why does he want you to look frumpy" Ha!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, thank you so much! Yes, the lemony goodness was a definite shout out, and I love Mrs Granger. She has a way of putting Sev in his place w/o even trying!
THIS BANNER!!!!!!!!!!!! aaahhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!oh poor girl. she needs those blasted bigger clothes. already?Teacakes, Tea, Teapot, Grandmother. these ingredients appear very often in your story. they make them so - dunno: ceremony has something holy, holding something high, turns an ordinary day or hour into something special. And Dobby makes Mistress happy, he and all want their story to be written by her. (see a lot of work coming ahead for you= next sujet for the next story?)she the writing Mistress. you give her really big jobs, you don't spare her, do you! But it is not that she wouldn't want them. No! she is honoured. Who would not be!And then, enter CarefulSeverus.uh-oh. something bad is rising. And she explodes. oh, how she explodes. And he does nothing. no, he lives through this fit of hers, and has the accuratenes to feel for her, to explain to her the necessities of honour and life debts and trust on her knowing and feeling everything that is right and is necessary to do.Wow. this is a partnership. wow again.a really good "fight", if you know what I mean. Reasonable, necessary, he lets her have her rage, but has yet everyting under control because he trust her and she trusts him. they are harmony. that is overwhelming.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Teacakes, Tea, Teapot, Grandmother. these ingredients appear very often in your story. they make them so - dunno: ceremony has something holy, holding something high, turns an ordinary day or hour into something special. How spot on you are. It really is like that, isn't it?And thank you for recognizing the partnership. I think deep down they are (and were) partners before they even knew it. Even when they felt like they were floudering, they somehow knew how to be or do what the other one needed. Thank you so much for your beautiful review.
lets see. she feels sorry that she can't give her husband the birthday he deserves or that it isn't going according her plan. come on, admit it, she is angry that there could be something she can not control, *g*and then, in the most perfect of a heavenly filled bathtub she summons her arithmancy book. the bad feeling can not have lasted that long. *gg* then Ron comes for a visit. first time in ages. since the battle? really. my, that must have been ages ago! You let him be the first to share her holy secret. That is a so nice gesture! And the conversation and Severus' discovery all went so peaceful. yes, she is right. her successful project called being married to "Professor" is not to the benefits of this blasted law. and you are absolutely right, she would be the one to take care of all the humiliated girls/ people to get back their own free will, their ability to decide, their dignity. even though she will not take advantage of undoing the marriage. no. ron and parkinson, she is helping them!! hihia son a son a son!! "with a target on his back" ,,, well, yes. ahem could be quite uncomfortable for the brat."No, not the fucking book, the baby book." She smirked. "We can look at the fucking book after."priceless. *grin*regarding your last paragraph I am sure they did look that particular book up."This is me feeling like myself again…." very true observation. after all these metamorphosis inside her body and brain during pregnancy she can feel herself again. how necessary.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, you spotted it! Her loss of control would be huge to her. But I also think she feels he gave her such a perfect birthday, she is devastated that she isn't doing something similar. (I think what she and many people don't understand is that it was a perfect birthday because she was so thrilled with every single thing he did for her--SHE was thrilled. Certainly I could have written the same gifts and have her wryly thinking, 'well, poor Sev, he hasn't had much practice at this and it's the thought that counts!' I think her joy infected him beyond his ability to shut down!Thank you again for such a wonderful review!
Loved it!I just read it through from beginning to end. Fantastic storyline :D I think I just fell in love with SS/HG all over again!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so very much for this review. That would be a wonderful thing, to remind you how wonderful SS/HG truly are!
This is the most beautiful story of fanfiction that I have ever read. Not only did I feel that your characters had such depth and perfection, but you write with such grace and fluidity. You astonish me every chapter with your writing. I am truly humbled to be a fanfic author if you are as well.Honestly, the most beautiful, stunning story. You made my two favourite characters come alive. I look forward to anything else you may produce.Bravo, indeed.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You bring tears to my eyes. I can't tell you how much this review means to me. Thank you.
It's a very tense time, him pulling Hermione out of the church. And then I laughed so hard when he stepped over/on Jane Austen's grave! I am so enjoying this story.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! I've stepped on Jane Austen's marker, myself! I couldn't resist that moment.
I have got to say that this is the best fanfic that I have ever read. I used to go on Harrypotterfanfiction.com but they were getting alittle boring. This has romance, drama, action, everything I wanted in a story. You are a very creative writer and I cannot help but feel envious of your writing. Good work on the story!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
There are so many wonderful, wonderful fics out there that your words are overwhelming. I am more grateful than I can express that my story means that much to you.Thank you.
Guess who has both parents wrapped around her little finger! :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, yes, this child is going to be the boss of them, I think! (Well, until she's old enough to be cheeky. Then I think she'll have to watch out!)
