Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
There were so many excellent parts in this chapter I don't think I can name them all! "It seems that such tenacious, insufferable, horrid hair is proving itself far more worthy of my admiration." he says, about the hair AND his wife...And Hermione's "Because," she said, "it would show them that—that I chose you. That I still choose you." Man, I like her!! She's so amazing here.I loved how those people walked in on them kissing! A healthy dose of 'what for' never hurts...And Dumbledore! "I know what a force he is when he has nothing to live for. I don't know what it will mean, now that he has every reason to live." That had to be my favorite, for it implies SO much.Another fantabulous chapter!!

This is one of my favorite chapters. (I know, I say that every time.) But because of the things you mentioned, and especially the twins. I do love the twins!)Again, thank you for your wonderful reviews!

Tell me to stop loving you." "For your own sake," he groaned, and she heard his pain and his fear, "stop loving me."I fell in love with your Snape just then...:)What a tangled web...I pray it ends alright!Loved how you ended it...that was so very good!

Holy crap! GAWD, that Voldemort is a right foul prick, isn't he? Oh, and poor Snape! He cannot walk this tight rope much longer, I fear!

Beautiful. Simply magical and I've enjoyed the entire ride from beginning until now. Strangely, I'm not sad to see the end...I feel as though the story ended where it needed to end, in the best way, and it was satisfying. Yes, that's what I feel, a deep statisfaction. That's amazing that you've been able to accomplish that in a reader such as I. Sometime in the future I'll come back to CoMC and reread it again from the beginning, like a favorite book. Wishing you all the luck in the world Mia Madwyn!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
That is such a wonderful thing to say. Ending this was so hard, and wanting it to end right was so important. To know that it worked for you so well soothes my heart.Thank you so much.
Geez a loo! That Voldemort is one sick bastard, and those Malfoys really irritate me, helping his little plots and ploys along as if it is their own personal game...well, maybe it is. They're all a bunch of sick freaks.Very nervous about where you're headed with those 'revels'...Beginning of the chapter was so good...and whether their love is real or not (oh how I hope it is!), I wish they'd just enjoy what they have for as long as it lasts...stubborn, the both of them!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Voldemort is... well, sick, yes, but also... complicated. And the Malfoys are the ultimate Slytherins!

"I didn't marry you to save you, Miss Granger. I married you to save Draco."Damn, that hurt.I think, though, that she will be his savior in the end, the way she gives herself to him, the innocence and naivite of her love...at least I hope so! Conflicting, erotic, painful and confusing - great chapter!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Nobody ever tries to save the Slytherins... I hope you're right. And thank you so much!

Aw, geez! So now poor Hermione thinks everything he feels, and maybe she feels, is because of those vows? Is it? Yikes!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
She just can't catch a break, can she? Sigh.

Not sure about that ending...guess I'll find out next chapter. But Merlin's pants, can you write smut! That was the most anticipated and beautiful lovemaking scene I've read in a while. Completely erotic, yet intense and tender all at the same time. Oh, at last! Finally, at last! Kudos to you for that exceptional bit of writing, my dear!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so very much. That scene was in my head for almost the entire time I was writing the first 30 chapters and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make it work. Also, I thought the concept of him as potions master and her potion was probably done to death but by the time I got there, I still hadn't found it anywhere else so was relieved to be able to write w/o feeling like I was doing something cliched.

Gawd, they have so many freaking issues!

Me thinks Severus protests too much! He does seem to be quite sensitive to any interaction between Hermione and any other male. I must admit you write a sympathetic Ron, something I don't often encounter.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. I like Ron, but mainly I like to go a bit against the grain when possible, and having read so many rotten Rons, I went the other way!
My, how attachments seem to be growing on both sides. I love Severus' enummerating all the little physical features he is noticing about Ms. Granger. Then we have Hermione and her ever-growing list of lists. For both of them Draco appears to add feul to the fire. How his use of Severus' given name and his declaration that Hermione is not 'Severus's type' will haunt her, sigh. I can picture the scene between Severus and Draco sooo well, Severus picturing Draco with his head snapped off. It definitely shows the dark nature to Severus' soul that you show us is a constant battle for him.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Draco is a little demon!!! (Sorry, but he is in canon.)Thank you!
Another chapter so full of wonderful moments, although I hate how McGonagall and "the boys" are treating Hermione. Salazar's bed was really scary! I believe it even gave Severus a fright. I loved this line during their discussion of Hermione's background: "I'll tuck away your tendencies toward passive aggression, selective honesty and ambiguous morality for future consideration." At the same time, I found it heartening that Severus was willing to play along with helping Hermione to set-up her meeting with Harry, Ron and Ginny. It was a sign of solidarity and that as his wife he would not treat her the way he would a student. And then there was that GLORIOUS BED! I can see why Hermione is looking forward to Saturday night too.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
LOL! I love how he itemizes her faults. That was always great fun to do. Thank you!
Oh, my! Can't wait to see where this leads!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Ah, yes. And it leads somewhere that has the scent of lemons...

Gah, I'll be Dumbledore won't be happy about that...And I like the Weasley twins, although usually I like Lucius too, but not here! He's kind of creepy.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Lucius is not a nice man in this fic, but I always adore the twins. Always. They were my very favorite characters before I discovered fanfic and fell in love with Severus!

That Narcissa is such a bitch, isn't she? Sitting high on her little throne, using whatever weapons available to her to get to Hermione. I was cheering for Hermione, though, since she handled the situation so well. But gah, Lucius taking her back to Hogwarts? *bites nails*Poor Severus having to remain with Voldemort, though...what is that pathetic excuse of existance going to ask of him now?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh man, Narcissa killed me here. And Bellatrix... poor Hermione!

I loved how he shared his goblets with her...that was very special. And I adored how she had all those baubles to choose from and took his ring instead. There's our girl. :)I am so enjoying watching Snape toe that line between what he has to do and what he wants...
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I wish I could just play with those rubies....
And yes, he has such a balancing act he has to perform.

Ok, first, I felt bad that Snape didn't get to browse those wine cellars, although I'm sure he'll be alright with it once he tastes some of that!I hope like hell that Narcissa (B*#~!) is bowled over by Hermione's appearance, although if she is, she'd never let it show. The change of the ring will be interesting, should Hermione succeed.Oh! And what's this about Snape being a pureblood? Want to know more!! Looking forward to the reappearance of the red sheets and the white shirt...*smirks*
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Don't tell anyone, but I'm not sure Snape knows all that much about Muggle wine, so he's probably better off with the wines Daniels chose!

McGonagall surprises me. I always liked her.LOVE Snape defending his own, though. There's that word again...HIS. What's wrong with Hermione?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
McGonagall has her reasons, alas.

Ok, so I'm SUPPOSED to be writing, but I can't stop reading! And there are SO many chapters to go! Argh!!Harry has a point, I think. When Snape and Hermione got married and/or had sex, something changed, he imbibed her with some of his magic?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh dear, I hate to keep you from your own writing, but I'm thrilled that you're liking my story so much! Thank you!

I'm so very shocked at Hermione hexing Harry like that. I mean, I knew she'd defend her husband, but wow! Cute Hagrid, too...and I loved his gift.Hermione seems to be sick a lot.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think Hermione is going through a lot fast--both magically and emotionally--and she may be having trouble handling all those changes.
