Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.

How devious on everyone's part. Pretty cool actually. But I kind of feel bad for George.

Time will tell who to feel sorry for. Ha!
Thanks for your response!
I'm thinking that Hermione's in for more than she was counting on.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
One can only hope! (wink)
Oh, those two will have an interesting time together, if their "banter" is any indication.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, I hope so! Thank you!
Wow. I'm excited about this new fic, I've read all the MLC fics so far, and this one looks like it's shaping up to be glorious. I love your Snape, very true to form. I love your first chapter and I'm eagerly awaiting more!!

it's good he finds her at exactly the same research he was about to start.and she found out some soothing things, didn't she.you are the first one to introduce christian theologie to these quarters I think.very intersting that finally someone would make the effort and find out what effects this will have.ah, there now, she pulls it out of him. he does care for her. the dance will end.aha, it was a pensive. wouldn't have guessed that.when will they have time to plunge in their 'happy' memories?not now, that is clear.

I don't know that I'm the first to use Christian (in this case, Anglican) theology in a HP ic, but I think I had to be almost mad to do it. Very touchy subject, but it came out of nowhere at me and I just couldn't leave it alone.

what did hermione demand from dumbledore?cryptic reply. and lucisu and this revel. *shudder*he can't possibly get her. pleasetest or not, the idea hangs heavily in the room. at least for luscious Lucius this will not be the last time he thinks of it.

AGain, I have to simply say, keep reading, and all will be revealed. But I really do love seeing your thoughts as you progress through the tale. Thank you so much!

sad moment for her to realise, she had no place to go to for herself. even the room of requirements sort of rejects her.and her unpleasant husband is so killing honest about his motive to marry her.yes, the gratitude - thing has to stop here and now.how he breaks to her the awareness, that he is addicted to her. - like she to him.why shattered. they start to patch up in a most adoreable way I would say`?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think "shattered" because the chapter itself had its shattering moments.
Thank you.

first she recognises it smells like lemon; and then you give us some lemon. And it tastes so sweet.the whole program, can only come from an experienced potions git. but he does it so wonderfully. he gets distracted by the kisses, but he won't miss a bit. and so she finally gets what she had missed so far. little miss impatience. little miss bookish. this is what no book could teach her.you have a great talent for .... the soft side of him.he's reavealing a lot of himself. would never have guessed that.calling each other still and what is more - in this intimate scene by titles and Miss is better than a running gag.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
These two insisted upon calling each other more formally than we would expect. I haven't been able to break them of the habit.
And yes, I know there's a cliche' about SexGod!Snape and I guess in this chapter he could almost come off that way, but to me it wasn't about him having tons of experience or expertise, but instead, about him giving her every bit of the attention he would give a delicate and difficult potion, and we know he's good at that.

I am sooooooo glad Hermione was there in the Room of Requirement to tell them that Severus was not on Voldemort' side.Hermione put Dumbledore in his place..."The last time I was in your presence, sir, you were doing your best to get my own husband to kill me—without ever coming right out and saying so, of course. You think it would bloody well have served me right, because as you pointed out to me, you don’t know that you can trust a Severus Snape who has everything to live for, and I made the mistake of coming between you and your weapon." |"For seventeen years, he has been your man and has carried the burden that others dared not. You know this, and you’ve given it lip service whenever it suits your purpose, but today is the day when you prove exactly what kind of man my husband has devoted his life to serving, because today is the day when it is up to you to protect him. To protect not just Harry, but to protect him.I hope Dumbledore will get his head out of his arse and realize that the Wizarding World's best hope is if Severus is able to insure Voldemort's demise and to survive himself.Hermione's determination to help Severus should put enough shame in Dumbledore to make him do the right thing. What I can't figure out is where is Bellatrix? She's not a healer, and Voldemort had told his minions that no one was to heal her... so just where in blue blazes is the bitch? I fear she will still be able to cause enough harm to get one of our heros killed — which would cause the other's death, as well.Lucius had given only his word to Severus. "My loyalty, my faith, my friendship," he said smoothly. "Upon my word." But is Lucius' word any good? Will the wealthy wizard be willing to help Severus when Severus' cause is to destroy Voldemort?I occurs to me that the only one Severus can truly count on is Hermione, his wife. Yet she doesn't know that he has been put under an Imperious Curse. What the hell are they gonna do?There are so many ways this whole thing can go pear shaped. But I have to trust that the bond Severus and Hermione share is stronger than anything the Dark Lord can imagine.Yes, that's what I think. Their bond of love will protect them from all who would cause them harm. This is a fabulous chapter, Mia! I have loved this tale from the beginning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.Beth

Very soon!
Oh my! What fun! That exchange at the end was brilliant, with Hermione spluttering a response to Snape's itemized list of grievances. I cannot wait to read the next chapter!

Thank you!
ROFLROFLROFLROFL"So. In review..." That was brilliant!! I laughed so hard at that part I almost fell out of my chair. I'm wondering - and fervently hoping - if this is the first chapter of a "Hermione get's more than she bargained for" fic, but in a good way. I'm intrigued, dear author....

he really makes up for his bad behaviour the last weeks.yes. a wonderful scene you invented here. and no harsh turn so far. I just held my breath and waited and waited for the moment to come when he would throw her icecold water in the face and wake her from the delirious dream. He being so careful to explain, to reveal feelings! wow, I'm overwhelmed.and Hermione is simply melting. *grin*

"I didn't know you could shut off a Hauler"of course ron would kill to get that spell, hihiI like the way you authors play whith what is given to you.it is also to these those nice little things make the story rich and fluid."living in a fishbowle where everyone is watching my every action.!!!!!!!!"That brought it quite to the point. this is her life.eh? she is the cauldron?!nice cliffie, if I may venture to say so.

nonononono!!!she has not deserved this!! don't let this bastard escort her!!!she went through this with -comparatively speaking- flying colours, didn't she?who would have thought of Bella!! of all witches in the kingdom. oh my.well, as long as the see-through is not hexed or cursed or anything this touch of nothing will be quite helpful at the next session on saturday...
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)

you are leading short reigns.always this quick turn from soft moment to tension, even cruelty if I can call it that.wow. really breathtaking. throws one in the seat. one moment one wants to melt away with the wine in the goblet, next moment one gets - pang ! - the slap of deatheater-reality in the face. oh yes, she WILL make an entrance. good idea with the hidden wand.ah, there is the ring at last!! he realised the spellwork and didn't scowl at her? ah right, he was distracted. well done.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think Hermione gets better and better at keeping him distracted. It's a good technique with him. LOL!

Hoochs lesson is indeed helpful. she steels her for what will definitely happen to her in the near future. she shows her what gossip can do, and how gossip seemingly feeds itself by the reactions of the accused.and all that. why call her a bitch? she isn't that bad.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Did I call her a bitch? LOL! I didn't remember that. I love Hooch. Thanks!

fun fun funHwemione does research, and on the most interesting of all topics. how to get the privacy back in the bedroom.it is a nasty thing indeed, this control of the ministry!! she will find a way. you will be stalling us, no doubt, but she will come up with a conclusion at last. he is denied the look into the winecellar of The Grange, no reason to pout. his claim to fame is his wife, not her parents vintage they have in store.good the parents are away. chose the best moment.and she gets her outfit right out of mummies closet!! If that will not be an impact, nothing will."is he in love with her" oops, she knows her in law rather well.he brought her to his home, wow! finally! you ahve electricity, and a washing mashine! he couldn't have presented her a greater gift - so far *hehe*and what about this "legal father"-business. you are just to cool!tztzIt's good to hear, that they have at least one last person who is on their side. long life Hooch, hope she will do a good job. Why is this wandless magic so critically looked at?eager to read onsalva
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much! Yes, poor Severus didn't get to explore the wine cellar (though even he admitted to himself that he wasn't that knowledgeable, so this was much better, anyway)!

It probably sounds weird, considering everyone's current mental state, but GO HERMIONE! First Bellatrix, then Dumbledore. I can't wait to see what's coming next. The whole Imperius curse thing is making me VERY nervous. I'm almost wishing I didn't read this chapter, because everything's just so intense. It's kind of morbid, but I can't wait to see how everything comes crashing down during the battle. So, keep writing!
