Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
Alright, Are we going to get some real hot stuff going on soon? Like where the BOTH of them are lovin' it? I'm desperate for these two to "simple" again and I want details!
LOL! I know I'm out of control! Keep up the drama!

I expected to get some "real hot stuff going on" before now, and don't know why these two aren't cooperating. But yes, it will be "soon."
Best chapter yet! So well-written and very intense. Stupid Dumbledore! Sheesh! I loved aspects of the "softer side" of Severus that were present in this chapter. Great job! I really can't wait for more.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much!
Two chapters so close together? You spoil us. *swoon*

You can also thank the admins here for letting them post so quickly!
Ah, Voldy always has the best timing. I liked how this chapter was a little bit mushy--even though I know that it won't last. Great writing!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you for the nice response! Yes, the mushy bits can't last long with this couple, but they're nice when they peek through, aren't they?
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
thanks!!!!!!!!!
They kissed! yay!!Sorry.my cat is exactly like Crookshanks hahaAmazing story, it was gripping.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Don't be sorry. I was all "yay!" about it, too!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review!

Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, I replied to this but maybe I hit the wrong button. Anyway, I'm going to try again!
First, I was all "yay!" about their kiss, too.
And thank you for taking the time to read and review. I really appreciate it!
ohhh another great chapter, I love the way Hermione has figured out Severus is patient, his potions! LOLO great job and great flow.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, it proves that patience and TLC are within his capabilities, right? Smirk.
This chapter made my heart ache. Poor Severus. Yet another thing to add to the mounting pile of guilt he has on his shoulders.
I also love how you're having their relationship develop. He didn't want to marry her, doesn't love her-yet something inexpilcably draws him to her, perhaps hinting at their future relationship...and Hermione's trust in him is touching in a way that he has obviously never known before.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much. I love that it's working for you, because that's how I see it, too.
Response from Dingleberry (Reviewer)
Yay! It's nice to know I'm on the right track.
oh man! the tension in this chapter is palpable!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh good. I like tension. :)
Just when they were starting to get on a bit. *pouts*
I like the speed at which you are letting their realationship develope. It's very believable. Looking forward to the next update.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. Things are going slower than I expected, but then sometimes these two catch me off guard. That kiss was not supposed to happen. But even when I rewrote the chapter (to deal with other problems) they still insisted on kissing, so there ya go. I'm just letting them dictate the pace to me, because they seem to have the power in our relationship, the ungrateful things!
Brilliant chapter, I think Hermione is snarkier than Snape!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Good! He needs somebody who can dish it back at him!
Lovely, lovely chapter. So many nice lines. I loved this:
"He had hurt her."..."He had hurt her."
This was great too:"So soft, so sweet, so unexpectedly perfect in his arms, her body longer against his than he would have thought. She simply … fit."
More please!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much! I put little things in there that to me mean a lot, simply because this is Severus and even the little things are monumental when it comes to him. I put them in there and to me they are significant, but I'm not sure they are always obvious to others, so I'm glad you are picking up on them.
So Hermione has endomytriosis on top of homework, the stress of being a Mudblood, the Marriage Law, and having to fight the Dark Lord? I don't know what's worse, cramps or Crucio! ;) And Snape does have lots of medical knowledge in canon, doesn't he? Shall he heal Hermione in any other ways? I love your dialogue, it's very funny and natural and in character.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm not sure she has endomytriosis. I do know that even though I didn't have much trouble with it, I had friends even as teenagers who had devastating cramps each month. I have adult friends who do, as well. But I do think Severus has many different ways to help her, even if sometimes he wishes he wasn't the one who had to do it!
Thank you for the comments!
Excellent insight into Severus' conscious motivations and surfacing affection. I liked this chapter a lot, and not just because Hermione mouthed off to him.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much!
Oh, I liked this chapter a lot! I love the way his decent side made an appearance - although it's damn dangerous for him, considering the need to appear as a proper Death Eater. And he didn't even protest about Crooks... aww!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Dangerous, indeed. Thank you!
Can you say 'new classic'? I think you can!Oh dear, except I'm following along on ffnet so this isn't new. Alas...can't wait for each chapter. Thank you so much for writing this!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm verklempt.
Thank you.
Poor Severus, doesn't he realise that she is slowly breaking down his snarky barrier.
Still loving this story.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Shhhh. He might hear you.
(Thank you!)
That's sweet. In an odd sort of way!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. Theirs is an odd sort of relationship.
Yes, yes, Sprout would be more than happy... Alas, it seems the fates have other plans. *twinkle*
Would you like a lemon drop, my dear friend, while we wait for the next chapter to appear?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Your offerr of lemons seems rather subtextual....
Response from oyasumikaze (Reviewer)
Oh dear! I am merely making polite conversation. *twinkle*
Are you sure you wouldn't like a lemon drop, my friend? *twinkle*
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You know, I hadn't even planned on writing a lemon scene next, but darned if things aren't puckering...
(However, I'm still not sure it's going to end up there. I guess we'll see!)
Response from oyasumikaze (Reviewer)
Do not worry, I'm not that interested in lemons :) (sometimes they are nice, sometimes they are not). If just been pestering people with lemon drops :) (I like the story development so far, so I don't want to influence you) I've been just rellying messages from an old fool.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Never you fear. There will be no lemons before their time!
*twinkle*
Lol, Severus is slipping. His caring, concerned side is showing through. Great chapter.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, but you have to admit, even his "caring, concerned" side isn't exactly fluffy. (I love that in a Severus.)
I absolutely love this story.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much.
I'm pleased that Severus faced and dealt with the consequences of his actions - the physical consequences at least.
Poor Hermione. I was wincing reading a lot of that chapter.
Poor Snape. He's so unaccustomed to being thought well of and trusted for himself that he doesn't quite know what to do with it.
Her weight was more substantial than he'd expected. Not heavy. She was anything but heavy. But she filled his arms.
Lovely, lovely line.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks. I liked that line, too. It's subtle, so subtle that he's certainly not aware of it, but I'm hoping that little awarenesses like that will finally "click" for him, that she is not a "girl" but a "woman."
This story continues to be wonderful!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much!
Somehow, the chapter title for this one seemed especially fitting. She does have an awful lot of trust in him - and, I suppose, she's also making sure that she is showing that trust.
I love the way prickly!Severus is fighting against all those new and confusing feelings. ;-)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! I like the title, too. And as for trust -- she's trusted him from the first page. The question is, why? And that has an interesting (I hope) answer.
