Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
Hello! I read the whole story in almost one sitting and luckily found some more chapters on ff.net...and then found out that I couldn't leave a review there. I prefer TPP anyway and am happy to tell you here that I enjoy CoMC very, very much. It's written extremely well and with great human insight - and with great sense of humour, too. I'm delighted that you share the result of your talent with us and can hardly wait for your next update! A couple of weeks ago I agreed with you, concerning SS and HG together hardly having a chance, especially after DH, of course. But: If you have the time, you may enjoy "Where Your Treasure Is" on ff.net, a great HGSS, which is even DH compliant - this story and yours are the stories I follow closely and admire highly!Again: thank you for posting - and so very regularly, too!Kindest regards!

Thank you so much for telling me! I'll check out Where Your Treasure Is, for sure!
I'm glad the story works read straight through -- it's hard to know for sure, since for me, it's coming slowly!
you are doing a really good job with this story! im hooked!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. I'm glad you like it!
wow, that is a good chapter, the kind that makes you angry you haven't read the whole thing from the start to get to.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much!
He is so smitten...and nobody has a clue. Well, until this last display. Now I think Poppy and Albus might--if they don't think he's hauling her back to his room to reinstate the dark spells they can't find on Hermione.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
They ought to figure it out now, ought'nt they?
The wife-homework part cracked me up. Too true that that's what's wrong in his life - a wife who has homework- hahaha.I agree with another reviewer that it's al ittle strange that they still refer to each other so formally but I'm wondering if this incident sin't going to cause a breakthrough in their relationship, and all that will change? Great as always and looking forward to the next.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Wife/homework. Yes, poor Sev.
And as for them still referring to each other formally -- as I responded elsewhere, I know why they do, but they haven't seen fit to change it. (Will they be grey-haired and still referring to each other that way? I can't eliminate that possibility!)
What a wonderful, hair-raising chapter! What was Albus thinking?!?!?!?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks! (I'm not sure he WAS.)
I love where this story is going. In the immortal works of Willy Wonka/Oscar Wilde: "The susptense is terrible, I hope it will last." I am delighted to see characters with conflicted feelings that they themselves can't really understant. Also, something really great about dealing with menstruation in a romantic fic. I don't quite know why, but I like seeing it. Maybe it's a bit of realism, maybe it's one of those "only in fanfic" moments. Thanks again, and I eagerly look forward to your next update.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
It seems to me that it's part of marriage, and what's a MLC without a bit of menstrual blood, anyway? LOL (It's real intimacy, right? Not just sex.)
can't wait for the next chapter....lol
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks!
I agree with Severus. For Merlin's sake he should press charges. Good for Hermione. I hope something horrible happens to Albus.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Time will tell... Thanks for the review!
Excellent chapter. This has become my favorite on-going story - the first one I look for when on line. Keep it coming!! And thank you for the frequent updates.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so very much!
"You wanted to be a Snape," he drawled. "It seems you have succeeded." Perfect!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! And that's just the beginning of her transformation, I fear!
*Sighs* Fabby chapter. Loads to enjoy here: the sexual tension between Snape and Hermione, Snape taking Hermione away from the infirmary and back to their quarters.
I also like the 'his mentor and father figure and friend' jab at Albus, right after he's been so despicable as to endanger Hermione and suspect Snape of damaging her somehow. Ouch.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! Ouch, indeed.
Well that was quite intense! It feels like something has changed and they just don't know it yet. They have (or maybe is it just Severus) crossed a line and now they can't go back and say this was just for convenience. I feel this was confirmation that their feelings run a lot deeper than they wanted to admit out loud. I do have one question though -- why do they keep referring to each other in such a formal manner. It seems out of place, especially when they are alone. As always a wonderful chapter. I loved the last scene back in the dungeons -- lots of feeling in a few lines. Thanks for sharing, JoAnne
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
They each have different reasons for sticking to the old terms, and I'm waiting for them to wake up and deal with it.
On the other hand, I can kind of see Severus still growling, "Miss Weasley!" and her calling him "Professor!" when he's 140 and she's 120!
Response from JoKK2 (Reviewer)
Ok am I in the wrong story? Miss Weasley? don't you mean Miss Granger?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
::blushing!::
"Miss Weasley" is in the chapter I'm writing right now. Ooops!
And of course Sev will only be snarking at Miss Granger when he's 140 and she's 120. Ahem.
Awwww he loves her he just doesn't want to admit it.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Isn't he an arse? But we love him anyway!
all i have to say is WOW! what a great chapter. Please update soon.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you -- and another is in the queue!
Wow Dumbledores an ass.Snape was adorable though!!I love that line: I fought like fucking hell.it's just like... SHOT DOWN! haha thats so cool =]
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Is it awful of me to say, I love that line, too?
::blush::
Thanks!
Dumbledore doesn't always quite care what happens to people, does he? I do hope Hermione will get better soon.
I'm loving all these mysteries - questions presented that have not been answered yet.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! I hope some of them start getting answered, soon!
Oh shit, well I can see why Severus is pissed with Albus, but looking for traces of dark magic form Severus on Hermione? Doesn't show much trust in his spy does it? I bet someone is going to get a royal butt chewing!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
A lot more will be said about this, that's for sure!
Beautiful chapter. I love Snape in this :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!
I think this chapter actually made me fall a even more in love with your Snape. The way you show is gentler side is very believable. :D And then there's the continuing mystery of Hermione's secret...something. Lol. We don't even know what it is. AND IT'S KILLING ME.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Something is going on with Hermione, and that's for sure. It may or may not be a 'secret something,' though. Hopefully we'll find out more soon.
This was excellent.
Which probably explained a lot about how he looked, too, she thought, watching him hide behind a hank of hair as he drank deeply from his goblet.
*snicker*
I wonder what it is she's hiding too! I have a feeling much will be explained with the answer to that question.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You're right - much will be explained, or else, a mystery will be uncovered that has to be solved. ::whistling::
It's so great!!! I love the way Snape is concerned about Hermione..
But there is something I found strange. Why does Albus suspect him? If they had something to hide from him, Snape wouldn't request him to test Hermione in the first place, would he???
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
We'll find out more about why Albus is suspicious soon....
Hello again!
I’m sorry for not reviewing the last couple of chapters. I was very busy but I took the time to read them. The last one was especially great. I liked how he tries to battle with his unacknowledged emotions but in the end he just can’t. And her confusion! The awkwardness between them. I wonder when they will find out their feelings.
I loved this line in particular: “And if I'd done this to Potter, you would have trussed me up and turned me over to the Aurors," he sneered. "Don't come near her. Don't come near my wife.”. It’s sums up splendidly Dumbledore’s double standard quite well. You may realise I don’t like him much…
Well, I will await anxiously for the next chapter. I hope it comes (very) soon!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I have trouble with Dumbledore, too. Have you noticed?
Response from MidniteOil (Reviewer)
Yes, I have noticed. I'm glad there's at least another person that does not think he is the saint most people think he is. I must have told you but I will say it again, I loved this chapter!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!!!
Uhboy... Dumbledore really messed up here. You've taken his dispationate level of curiosity to new heights and I am very thankful that Severus' newfound dedication to Hermione managed to override a very real need to kill the old fool.
As usual, even in the middle of all of this seriousness, you made me smile with the "fight like hell - I did" lines. It's them against the world now and they both know it. I'm really looking forward to where all of this takes them.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
"Them against the world." How very right.
Thanks!
I love this story!I'm a sucker for the fics where severus protects Hermione( could Ron do all that with the power of Severus!I think not)It would be good if Draco and Lucious got nastyer,I love it when thereyre nasity!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
The Malfoys will definitely be back, don't worry!
