Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

BEST AUTHOR, Moste Potente Potions
http://community.livejournal.com/sshg_awards/33422.html
Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
This was certainly intense! The confrontation in the Astronomy Tower was quite excellent, and I'm glad Snape's finally coming to understand certain things.
I don't exactly expect him to turn into a cuddly teddybear, but a bit of caring, even if expressed in an utterly Snape-like way, is something Hermione could use at this point, I think.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you. Snape still has a way to go, but hopefully he's getting there!
well Snape appears to be making up for past mistakes. And I'm assuming Hermione thinks she can't have an orgasm? - hopefully Snape will change her mind on that too :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, surely he can get something right!
Oh wow... and finally Hermione starts to get something other than cruelty and accusations from the only person she can count on anymore.Good follow up to the terrible cliffie in the last chapter. Waiting in breathless anticipation for the next chapter to make its way through the queue.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks so much -- I'm glad you like the turn it took!
Oh, Sev. *slaps forehead while shaking head sadly* That was...not smart. Not good. Make sure to rinse your mouth out once your toes aren't touching your tonsils anymore.
Can't wait for more!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Toes/tonsils -- cracking me up! Thanks for the review!
Oh no, this was a bit too much. He is really the worst prat there is! This line was particularly offensive: "Although … although now that I think of it, it explains so much." He was referring to her friendship with Harry and Ron and their closeness, right?. Oh, he is really a prick!
Nevertheless, this story is addictive. Please, update soon!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Actually, that's not what he meant at all, but I can see where it would look that way! (And hopefully before today is over he'll get a chance to explain for himself what he meant, though it still may not sit well with you.)
Response from MidniteOil (Reviewer)
He didn't mean that? Now I'm anxious to know what he meant. You're doing a great job!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks. And let me know what you think of his explanation. (I didn't say it would clear him of fault, did I? Um...)
Response from MidniteOil (Reviewer)
Knowing what a bastard he can be, I'm sure he won't be cleared of fault! He deserves all the anger Hermione can give him! ;) I'll let you know what I think! :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks!
Man! And things were (sort of) going so well! How upsetting. I wonder how Snape is going to get out of this one. Nicely written.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Wait. He's supposed to get out of it?
(Thank you!)
Oh man. Call me a sap, but with everyone else against them, don't they deserve at least a bit of happiness with each other??
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Of course they do! They just learn how to be happy with each other first.
Oh boy *waiting for sh!t to hit the fan* but actually, it has already. . . . . *sigh*
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, don't worry -- it can get worse!
Question: in your story, Snape is a pureblood, not half-blood? Still find it a little hard to grasp that your Hermione made her dentist-parents story up. Other than that, all's good.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yes, I'm going pre-HBP on that issue. Not that it makes a lot of difference to my story, other than meaning he'd be eligible to marry her and save her. I'm not going to do anything else that involves him being pureblood, such as reveal the existance of Snape Hall/Manor/whatever. (I've loved it in other stories, but just don't have anything fresh to do with that idea.)
So I'm kind of cherry-picking which parts of canon I want to use and which to ignore.
Why is Snapey still calling her "Miss Granger"??? Everybody else calls her "Madam Snape."
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
And when Dumbledore referred to her as "Miss Granger," Severus corrected him.
I think it's most likely an attempt (perhaps unconscious) to maintain the status quo and try and pretend his life hasn't spun totally out of control (which means it's also something of a control issue). But who knows what he'll reveal as I keep writing? I sure don't.
Dysfunctional? Lol.
Now, he's gone and hurt her feelings. Those two truly deserve one another.
He owes her big time in my book.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I agree on all counts!
The unmitigated gall. Stupefy would have been the least of his worries if that was me. And that had started off so well. Good chapter. Really well written.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you for the compliment. Perhaps Sev will redeem himself, yet...?
So ah, that was awful! - not awful writing of course, I mean an awful situation to occur. I can't even imagine how he's gonna make this up to her. For that matter, I can't imagine how she's going to find any pleasure in sex and even life with her husband if all he does is take! Prat!! Maybe if he hadn't resigned himself to just giving her a quicky beforehand, he could have stayed himself long enough to do her at least a little justice during the event. Just want to say to him, 'Good Lord Sev! You're a grown man! Act like it!!'
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Poor Sev. Everyone wants his bollocks on a platter, I fear!
Wow. He really is an ass. Hope she teaches him a lesson. I can't wait for the next chapter!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
The next chapter is on the way -- thank you!
Oh, poor Hermione! She just can't seem to win with him. She gets him off brilliantly and he has the nerve to say such a thing? How are they going to repair this rift?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Something tells me it won't be through makeup sex.
(I slay me.)
Thanks for the comment!
Ah Severus, a little stupid today. Why can't he just say "thanks for the blow job, love?"
Great Chapter :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, I have to admit "thanks for the blow job" may not be classy, but it's still better than what he said!
Thanks!
I love this fic, it has such a great blend of humor and angst. One of the most believeable MLC fics I've read, in terms of how they relate to each other, sexually and otherwise. Thank you for the frequent updates - so happy to see the next chapter is coming soon, I can't wait to see what happens next!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you for your many kind words! I'm eager for you to see what comes next, as well.
I'm surprised she didn't hex his boy bits off for that comment.
Loving this ingenious story.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Re: boy bits. The night is young!
Thank you!
Oh Sevvie, you prat!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, yes, he is. What can we do? We love him anyway!
Response from fuchsiasteerpike (Reviewer)
Indeed! I was also going to say when Hermione was going on about having Ron's hair and Harry's eyes I had this awful feeling of dread. With Severus's past loves, something like that could not be a good thing.
what an ass hole but i love him that way hehe' Please update some more today PLEASEEE!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Sorry, it can't be today but it's in the queue and I'm sure it will be up soon. Thank you!
Excellent. Great pace, wonderful complications, misunderstanding and a bare minimum of angst. I wonder how you intend to bring them together. I guess there will somehow be at least one other (third) painful fuck.
I do hope she will not promptly forgive him the mistreatment.
I had an idea (can't keep it for myself). If she decides to stop crying and manages to stop expecting anything good from him, she might prepare some lubrication for herself for the next Saturday. I can't see him understanding that as anything except her judgement of his sexual abilities.
Wonderful story. A very special, quite different take on the MLC.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I'm not sure what makes it different, but I'm glad you think so. It's a little daunting to approach the MLC when it's been around for years, but I just felt compelled to do it! Thank you!
Snape! What a rotten thing to have said!
I hope he does some serious grovelling in the next chapter. He seems to have left Hermione with the idea that she is unattractive, that sex hurts, and that when she does try to please him - it makes her a whore. Serious, serious grovelling.
Looking forward to the next chapter :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
All I can say is, he will have to face his shortcomings.
Oh man! That was just so very, very Snape! ::shakes him by the shoulders:: Poor Hermione. She just can't win.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
He's not thinking straight or he'd know where she learned to do that, the idiot. LOL!
Oh Snape, you damn malicious twat. What did he have to say that for?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, she's not the only one who is inexperienced. He's inexperienced in dealing with nice girls. LOL
Ohh, and the saga continues. Can't wait to see what happens next. :D
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Hopefully you won't have to wait too long - it's in the queue. Thanks for your comments!
