Seventh-year student Hermione Granger decides to marry the one eligible wizard who did not ask for her--the horrid but powerful Severus Snape. All is not sweetness and light. Be careful what you ask for. Or, as has been said by many a wise witch, "Marry in haste; repent in leisure." MLC

BEST AUTHOR, Moste Potente Potions
http://community.livejournal.com/sshg_awards/33422.html
Care of Magical Creatures recently received two awards on "Secrets of the Dark Vaults," a Russian fanfic site. Best NC-17 and Best Maxi Translation. The Nine-Year Plan was awarded Best Mini-Fic! I'm delighted to be in translation and to please the readers in Russia!

With the completion of Care of Magical Creatures my fanfic output is going to slow way down, but if you want to be sure to know when new fics post, please follow me on twitter. I don't tweet much, but I'll surely tweet that kind of thing.
About Mia
I came to the world of Harry Potter relatively early, after first resisting it because it just seemed too trendy. But when the first book came out in paperback in the US I picked it up at the airport when I was about to catch a flight, and two chapters in knew I would be ordering the original from amazon.co.uk in hardcover as soon as I landed.
I came to fanfic late, waiting until after I'd read DH. That means I've been totally obsessed with the fanfic world of Harry Potter, and most specifically the SS/HG ship, since August of '07.
I'm helplessly and hopelessly hooked.
Reviews for Care of Magical Creatures
I loved that chapter. It was really a good insight. Is Hooch jealous?
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think Hooch is just enjoying giving Snape a hard time!
meanie! I thought there would be some lemons....
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Oh, there will be lemons, never fear!
Er - wow. Scary and impressive, and certainly different. I look forward to more - thank you.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Wow, and here I was worried Snape was getting soft. (Snerk.)
I'm really enjoying this. I like how there's not a sudden influx of hearts and flowers - but a sense that they are becoming increasingly attractd to one another.
I also like that the balance of power has shifted a little to make things more equal. Hermione seems to have the ability to throw Snape off balance, which will keep him on his toes.
Looking forward to more!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks -- Hermione will be able to keep Severus off balance until they're 190, if they don't kill each other first.
:gulp: Now that's compelling!
But I want to know more about Hermione's change of heart - or character, I guess I should say.
Ooh.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, hopefully I'll have the next section up soon! Thanks!
Hee. Wait, I would actually love soap like that, actually. Make shaving totally unnecessary.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Yeah, me too!
aw darn. Evil Cliffie!!! They do clean up nicely. . . . . Can't wait for next chappie!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!
This story is gritty, intriguing, and you've managed to turn the well-known MLC motif on it's head. In a good way. You have me wishing I had found this much later or even completed - I'm usually very patient, but I really want to know what happens next here! *pouts*
I'm currently in love with your characterizations - I can truly follow Hermione's rationalization of the whole thing and Snape's pointing out that her logic sucks. *grins*
I loved the shaving soap incidient. And the kiss. Want more.
*waves*
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you! I'm very pleased that you're liking it so much.
Whew! What a chapter! I thoroughly loved it. I am glad to see that Severus has recovered enough to at least have his devious cunning back. I am excited to see what will happen when our newlyweds rejoin the real world. Great writing.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks so much!
*fits of giggles* Oh wow. Let's hope this newfound courage, maturity and patience in Hermione lasts. Ahh looking forwards to her first class... especially Potions... as Madam Snape.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Aw, like I said earlier, the Hermione we saw for the first 24 or so hours was reacting emotionally; first out of panic (and attempting to control her own fate) and then out of guilt (and what she'd caused to happen). But watch out; she's got her sea legs now!
Those two really deserve each other.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Erm, is that a good thing or a bad thing? LOL!
Response from septentrion (Reviewer)
You are the author. You know.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Well, I think it's a good thing, of course! (And as you point out, I know where it's all leading.)
Okay, I want some of that wizarding shaving soap! Very convenient. He really is being his complete bastard self, isn't he? Looking forward to the Sorting!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Bastard self -- this is a good thing, right?
Response from firefly124 (Reviewer)
It is for Snape. *g*
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Whew!
*snort*
He is a manipulative bastard. I am surprised that he didn't start yelling and screaming about her going through his things or yell at her because of his assumption, that she'd taken him to Poppy against his orders. Or that he didn't ask what had happened in the last 4 days. Though all of those things could be obvious to him already.
M'kay... I'm waiting for more, now.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I don't picture him yelling and screaming. I picture him as being a master of more subtle ways of getting his way. Hehl.
This is really fun to read--comedy and drama are combined well. Please update soon!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you!
Interesting still, in line with the previous. But, I can't imagine Hermione so clueless about potions even if she does not know healing spells. Shyness about body is fine, she was a virgin after all, and very young, but lack of knowledge about potions is just too much against all that is Hermione.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I've been pondering this issue and the only explanation I have is that she has been blindsided by quite a bit in the past few hours (as has he, of course). And equally important is the idea that one of the things that has blindsided her is that "the cleverest witch of her age" is quite capable of being human, which in her mind equates to being stupid, since having an honest teenaged girl reaction to a horrible situation has resulted in all of these repurcussions, which are having a ripple effect on people around her -- which put her in the position of seeming/feeling stupid.
Feeling stupid is not comfortable, nor does it make her feel secure about her actions right now.
Hmm. Which possibly should have shown up more clearly in the work itself, eh?
Anyway, I think we're seeing Hermione in a rare situation where she's second-guessing and not sure and not even operating at her normal level.
While some of that will continue, she will be snapping back into a much sharper focus so don't worry, Hermione is still Hermione. (I hope!)
Well! That was an action-packed chapter! Hope he wakes up soon. Brisk writing and the emotions are well-expressed.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you so much!
I think she needs to find some more Gryffindor courage regarding her husband.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
It has been a very long twenty-four hours. Let's hope she adjusts quickly!
Oh, I wish I could do my laundry that way. Hmmm... I wonder what he'll say when he wakes up. Okay, I want more. You know, I've even tried pestering admins to get me chapters faster... it hasn't helped me yet. *snort*
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You can blame my commas for some of it!
Response from GinnyW (Reviewer)
*giggles*
Commas are the bane of most authors. ;) But, dangit... I'm very impatient and I want MORE.
*stomps feet*
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
It's in the queue!
Poor Snape! On the other hand, he might feel a bit guilty when he finds that Hermione slept on the floor, is still sore as a result of using the pain relief he made for her on his wounds instead, and presumably has a badly bruised wrist from where he grabbed her.
I hope, for their sakes, that the next day isn't a school day! They need some time to rest and recover. :)
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks!
*rolls eyes at Hermione's missish behaviour re: Snape's pants* She could have magicked them off. Duh. Wow. do they both ever need to bathe.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I've got to say, neither Hermione nor Snape are behaving exactly the ways I planned. I tried to get her to handle that situation but she simply dug in her heels and refused. I guess we'll see how she handles the rest!
Well, this is several chapters longer than this review, and I know the title of the next one is Sealed, his summary of her proposal tactics is brilliant. Cheers and full aplaud!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thank you -- I hope you liked the other chapters!
Ouchie. No wonder he wasn't too keen on marrying Hermione - or on leaving her for the Malfoys, either!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Lucius is simply a sore loser.
Poor Severus! Lucius certainly didn't go easy on him at all. Hope he allows himself time to heal from that. Yow.
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
I think he'll take more time than intended, but not because he wants to!
Nice jab he managed to get in at Malfoy after all that. And I agree with Hermione: that does sound like a much more satisfying way to do laundry!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
Thanks for the review!
I liked this. I liked the way you had a Hermione who at least partly understood the urgency to consumate the marriage and the pain Severus suffered from the calling from Voldemort. To have a screeming virgin, dumb enough to not realise that something was wrong would have been to clishe and not at least not suitable for anyone with half a brain. The fact that Malfoy were involved should be enough for anyone to realise the time was not on their side. I look forward for more lemons later (as you promised in some of your answears to other reviewers) and for you to continue to avoid most of the most used cliches used in MLC'fics where Malfoy and Voldemort wants Hermione. You have done a great job so far, I look forward to read more!!!
Response from mia madwyn (Author of Care of Magical Creatures)
You are going to keep me in line, aren't you? LOL Thank you. I'm very glad you weren't upset by this chapter.
